Wonderful place to view the history of basketball. Will encourage any basketball enthusiasts to check it out. Place was awesome!
First class venue.. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, multiple restaurants on site. Feels like Epcot Center.
Definitely a must-visit for any true basketball fan in the area! The staff was friendly and helpful and the exhibits, displays and interactive computers were fun and educational. Plus, after getting motivated by watching all the photos and videos, you get to shoot and dunk (if you can) on the hardwood with photos of the greats looking on!
My 3rd time going this establishment. There is such a rich history of basketball. We were able to see some the most interesting facts about the sport. And you end the tour with playing basketball which is always great for the kids. Within the building there are also two restaurants and Cold Stone Ice Cream. If you ever visit Springfield, MA, please stop in for a visit!
I went with my kids and my girlfriend and her son. I loved going Im a huge Basketball fan. The new exhibits are very good and easy to watch. The memorabilia is excellent. I cant say anything bad except I wish I lived a lot closer than 2 hours away because I definitely would visit more often.
If you have a basketball fan in your family this is must see Hall of fame. A lots of hands on interactive exhibits. Great staff too everyone treats you as a celebrity as soon as you enter into the Hall of fame and are easily approachable for any questions you may while spending time here. My favorite is trying the virtual basketball game and seeing how I measure up to some of the basketball players height and shoes sizes. Before you leave make sure you find time to tryout your basketball shooting, dribbling, and slam dunk skills on the court of dreams located first floor.
The BEST place for basketball fans. Looking to visit again for the KOBE exhibition!
This is a great place to *experience* the game of basketball. All the history you could want with live presentations by former NBA greats. Interactive exhibits include virtual basketball, how high can you jump, grab the rebound and become a sports telecaster. All topped off by a court on the main level to shoot around and try out the different hoops styles through the ages. It a tad bit on the pricey side for the whole family, but if you enjoy basketball, its a must see.
REALLY impressed with the latest updates, especially the five iterations of each interactive touch screen, and the free stylus/ballpoint pen combination you can use on said screens. I cannot WAIT for the Kobe exhibit!!!
What an incredibly well thought out museum. We had the best time!
Great experience. A lot of history. Fun for kids and whole family.
My husband and son immensely enjoyed all the interactive activities! And I loved watching them both have so much fun, and seeing their many smiles! We went late on a Friday, and felt like we basically had the place to ourselves! Personal shout out to the great staff that enhanced our great time even more! We loved the 3 musketeers upstairs Gary, Fred, and sorry but I forget the other nice guy’s name! And let me not forget Harry for all his help! These guys went above and beyond to make our time there a super fun memorable time!! Many thanks to all the nice staff that we met throughout our time there!
Lots of interesting basketball history AND I got to see Robert Parish!
I visited this place in August of18: This landmark has very informative details ranging from the players, through the coaches and of the game itself. The displays inside the museum portion of it are worth the observation; the gift shop and some eateries within the site are also convenient. This place, as all other notable landmarks, has the amenities suitable for all ages.P.S. My apologies for double photo posting; that function from my device had issues.----actual post: June 2019
Good food & staff. Good calamari & cornbread
Great place to go and spend a few hours and see the history of basketball. They offer AAA, Military and Mass. Teachers discount on tickets. Can order tickets online. HoF has places to eat right there. Gift shop has some good buys. Best part is being able to shoot hoops on the court or see how high you can get to dunk.
This place has so much potential... there are a lot of things it lacks as far as exhibits, which was suprising and kind of sad. It has almost as much on HS and college as the NBA, which is neat/ good to have the balance as the museum isnt the NBA museum. I just felt like they could have done so much more to tell about each person, beyond their stats and record setting events and shoes, jerseys, basketballs, and nets from certain milestones. There was a really neat looking futuristic room with the Hall of Fame people but even that seemed to not tap into the full potential it could offer. Im not a hardcore basketball fan but I could have thought of at least five ideas for interesting, in-depth exhibits. Hopefully the renovations on the 3rd floor (closed when I was there) are going to bring the museum full circle from what I saw in my visit.
Place was a lot of fun but way too expensive. $53 for my 2 grandsons n myself for 1 ride go carts n an extra single for older grandson. And one golf game. A small fortune if we went ont bf e other rides n they didnt even ask me if I was a senior (which I am). Very nice and clean but expensive.
I was very underwhelmed by this Hall of Fame. I have been to the NFL one in Ohio, and thought that was great. It was $25 to get in, and it was only 1 floor of information that did have good facts, but I was left wanting more. There is a basketball court to shoot around in once you’re done with the one floor, but that is not worth $25.
Visited Massachusetts for the FIFA WorldCup USA94 match, Spain -v- Italy held at Foxborough Stadium, Boston and in between time we did a detour to meet-up with some friends that lived in Northampton, Ma. We were aware that the Basketball Hall of Fame was not too far away from Northampton and, as one of our number was a big David Robinson fan, we opted to trip over there too. We had a great day and enjoyed the experience enormously with lots to do and see.Hadnt appreciated that in the meanwhile the Basketball Hall of Fame had upped-sticks in 2002 and moved itself 100 yards south into a $47 million facility and it looks even more splendid now.
Good been around the basketball hall of fame can give a sense of all the best players
Enjoyed the visit. Good displays and interactives
They renovated the inside and came out nice. I did enjoy the touch screens and short videos. Wish they bring back the area for agilities.
Very cool. Under rated... a must if you love sports
The remodel is very nice. Definitely worth going back 8f you havent been in a while
Very fun place to visit! Friendly staff, inexpensive, many hands on activities to try and have fun with, awesome displays and tons of information to read. If youre a basketball fan this is a must see and its definitely fun place for all ages!
Was kind of a letdown...went on a rainy day and there were countless leaks in the ceiling raining down on the floor and displays. Staff is VERY friendly and accommodating and the courts inside are a nice touch for everyone to play. Gift shop had a limited variety of Jerseys to pick from.
A must go if you’re an NBA fan . They have all the history of this beloved game and has a lot of engaging activities inside . From pop a shot to an actual hardwood floor to shoot hoops on, there’s plenty to do!I paid $22 with my AAA card discount but regular price is $24 and you’re free to stay or leave and return all day . This was my second time coming and felt it was worth to stop by since my last visit to the east coast .Hope to see this place continue to add more things and keep it as historic and as modern as it is now.
Great place to visit if you love basketball. Price a little steep but discount for AAA/CAA members. Parking is free. Need at least two hours to try the interactive games, read up on some stats and enjoy some time on the basketball court. Interactive screens are a must where you can select a player and there are videos to watch or stats to review. No backpacks allowed in the hall of fame. You can always check out the entrance area for free which has a few memorabilia to see.
Great experience.. Lots of activities, games and things to do. Entrance is worth it and can get AAA discount... Ask for any other you might qualify.Alex
Basketball museum with historic Memorabilia and a basketball court where you can play. Not bad
Absolutely love it! Cant wait to go back!
Small museum housed in strip mall. Museum can be covered easily in under 1 hour. Some of the best exhibits are free in the lobby.
My 18 year old son really enjoyed it. But I thought that there was very little to see. I paid $50 for admission for the 2 of us, and we saw everything thing there was in about an hour. A lot of the space is currently under renovation, so maybe it will improve. His favorite part was shooting hoops on the big basketball court downstairs.
I brought my brother whos a basketball fan and we loved it. The staff is super friendly and the display of history through all the three floors is amazing. We really enjoyed it!
I loved this place fun for the family and was historic even though its covid-19 they made it work and you still had fun you can really play in a court and see jerseys and sneakers
I was very surprised that it was just a three story place. First floor is a court, second floor are pictures of all the inductees. The third floor is really the one where you have all the history so to speak.. It was a really nice place but I wouldnt go outta my way to go visit, anf Im a huge basketball fan
The cost of entry was reasonable as well as military discounts are available. This brought back many childhood memories. I learned a lot about the athletes, past and present day. There is alot of history for any basketball lover!
American history museum and hall of fame, located in Springfield MA, the city that invented the basket! Amazing museum if you like the sport, worth the trip to Springfield. The museum is very interactive and explains everything about the history of the basket from its inception to now. Allow a couple of hours. The shop at the end is great and has plenty of basketball memoralia. Lots of parking space.
A great place to visit, a very worthwhile experience. Though it looks like a lot of artifacts werent displayed when we went because of renovations.
When I was looking into going to the museum I couldnt find how much it cost (its $25 a person). To me it was not worth that much. But when we went the 3rd floor was blocked off for renovations so when that opens maybe it will be worth the 25. It is a very nice place and has friendly staff and I really enjoyed being able to go on the court and shoot hoops.
Great place! We were there as part of Red Sox Winter Weekend. Lots of fun!
There is a lot of things to do there. Right when you walk in you can see all the different players in the hall of fame. And compare youre shoe size to basket ball players. There are many fun games to play and my favorite. Is there Id a basketball court with all the different types of basket ball hoops ever invented. It was a lot of fun.
Excellent museum. Found historic players a fascinating review that captivated me. Convenient location and free parking. Theres a basketball area for folks/kids to shoot hoops. Well organized and run. Friendly!
Super cool exhibits and fun to play basketball on the court!
Great experience for any basketball fan I highly recommend it
If your a basketball fan then this is the place for you. Perfect place for College Basketball and NBA fans. Great basketball artifacts.
This hall of fame was mediocre compared to the baseball and football hall of fame. Ive wanted to check all three off for awhile. Kinda feel it was overpriced for the limited stuff you will see.
My son and I had a great time! Admission prices were decent and the Hall of Fame itself was great. A lot to look at but not overwhelming. And my son loved shooting hoops on the court!
Probably the best sports experience that Ive had the chance of seeing. The museum is extremely interactive and great for kids -- there is even a basketball court to shoot around, with historical peach basket. Definitely worth the $25 if you are a basketball aficionado.
I loved this place. It’s simple, easy to navigate, and has loads of historic stuff on display. The icing on the cake is the basketball court in the middle. Awesome.
Great place to take your kids, especially the basketball players
Liam was knocked out of the shootout competition but gave a tremendous effort. Proud of him!
Amazing experience for any fan of the game. The price of $24 for an adult was a pleasant surprise. The staff was top notch and welcoming. Lots of interactive activities.I will be back after the most recent renovations are completed in 2020.
There isnt a ton to do at the Basketball Hall of Fame. They are confined to a relatively small space surrounded by shops and stores. It is worth a one-time stop but probably not a repeat destination. For the size of the athletes you spend a little time learning about it is surprising how small it is. We prefer the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
Im guilty of comparing it to the NFL or Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Football Hall is just a tad bit better possibly because of its layout and artifacts available to be viewed.
Enjoyed my visit but the entire 3rd floor was closed so there really wasn’t as much to see as I hoped. The gift shop was decent but could have had more autographed merchandise to sell. Next summer when the entire facility is open should e a better time to visit.
Exhibition was great!/staff were very friendly. Kids will enjoy it too.
I really enjoyed my visit at the hall of fame. My favorite part was that we could shoot in the peach basket! Something I really wanted to try wich feels really different than shooting on a traditional basketball board.
The Hall of Fame is amazing. There is so much rich history of the sport packed into a small package here. If you have the opportunity to come to an enshrinement you wont be disappointed. Lots to do and see mixed with great restaurants and lodging all on the same land. Check for discounts and events in advance so you can enjoy the experience. Some of the exterior is under renovation but the inside is open for business.
Really great place if you want to explore the history of basketball. Good for Adults of all ages and families.
Went here as part of a business function, but was an interesting hall of fame. There was lots of information about the players and coaches, was also interesting to see how the game evolved over the years. There is plenty of free parking, there is also lots of food locations around if you want to make a day of it.
A place I have always wanted to visit. Its great to see history.
Very nice. I liked it very much.
Amazing place to go an visit, especially for those of us that are basketball enthusiasts. Fans will have something to talk about at their teams and favorite player(s). I know I had an amazing time just looking at players from my San Antonio Spurs, like The Iceman and The Admiral. Now that I got this, my first visit to the HoF out of the way, I cant wait to return to the ceremony of the next Hall of Fame inductee... Tim Duncan!
Very nice museum showcasing the history of basketball. It does a decent job of shining a light on womens basketball, but nowhere in comparison to mens.I didnt see the 15min video, but I feel like if I did Id have done it at the end. There arent many places to sit when you get to the top floor, so go through the museum, play some ball in the court (ground level), and THEN go watch the video to take a rest if you so choose.
Was very peaceful when I went there. Not many people were there, and they provided basketballs over there in case if you wanted to play there. First we take a walk and they’ll show everything, and then you finally get to play on the court if you want. I’d definitely recommend this for NBA fans.
Security visible if concern about leaving your car parked. Good place to visit
A great place for any basketball enthusiast. Interaction, courts, paraphernalia, and a nice gift shop with a price range for any budget.
I wonder what contributions will go into Kobes part inside the Basketball Hall of Fame.
A lot of renovations happening right now. The experience could have been better. The whole 3rd floor is closed for renovations, and the court was closed to setup for a dinner which limited activities and things to see. Silver lining was the ticket was free for active duty service members.
Awesome museum. Perfect place for basketball fans!
The best part was the open basketball courts, with authentic period backboards, and the various game-worn gear and milestone balls. But this could be so much more interesting. Where are the interactive exhibits? How about some footage shot from the floor during a game or at least a scrimmage?
Nice place lot of interactive things to do, you can even shoot some hoops
Not as big as i thought. Its in the middle of no where. But if you are a basketball fan its a must go. Also for $20 bucks you can shoot all day long in different era basket thats pretty cool
I loved the basketball history.. But a lot smaller than you would be expecting.. Theres more memorabilia they couldve displayed..
Fantastic place to visit. A short and sweet video greats you, then you can explore the hall. They have so much information and memorabilia. Theres interactive exhibits on the second floor to keep kids interested and engaged. On the ground floor..... play basketball!!!You can also visit the gift shop and choose a place to eat right inside. We had a great time here!
It was my first time visiting the basketball hall of fame and I loved it. It was cool to learn about the history of the sport (even though Im not really a basketball fan.) It was interesting and all of the interactive exhibits are fun for the whole family. 100% worth it.
I havent been in years and its my first time going back in about 30 years
For such a beautiful sport, the Hall of Fame is Very underwhelming in its display of basketball. The only thing that is saving this from being a one star review is that they cut the price. They do this because they are under going renovations. Instead of having a grand Hall of Fame like Cooperstown New York does, they rely too heavily on simple interactive experiences and video clips. All in all Bill Simmons was correct when he says that this is the worst Hall of fame for any of the big 4 sports
My children from ages 11,18,20 all enjoyed it. Its not expensive except for the gift shop. They remodel it in 2012 and are still doing renovations.
Amazing experience all around
Been on my bucket list for a while, so I took the ride up from New York; loved the experience. Plenty of information on each player ever inducted in the Hall from the very beginning until now. They have many activities that you can participate in including play by play commentation, and being a sports anchor on SportsCenter. Wanna see how high you can get up for a rebound, want to dunk on the rim, want to shoot hoops on each and every basket ever made? Get there early enough because it closes at 4. Alot of fun!
We decided to take the kids to the baseball and basketball halls of fame this summer. Baseball was first so set the bar high. The basketball hall of fame was just ok. I was surprised at how low the quality of the hall of inductees was vs. the main hall which commemorates each inductee in Cooperstown; and there could be a lot more done to celebrate the history of the game. It is going through a renovation currently so hopefully it will see a step up in the quality of the experience.
If you are in town this is must see! The history and attractions are one of a kind! Add this to your bucket list and enjoy!
Lots of fun, fair price and I probably shot hoops for too long at the end
Loved it!! Great time! Awesome customer service!!
Loved the baskets hall. A fun museum for all ages and everyone.
Nice tourist visit.
Awesome. Great tribute to Dr James A. Naismith and the wonderful game of Basketball.
Kids had fun with all the interactive sections. And of course the basketball course. Lots to see. Definitely worth it for basketball fans. Staff was friendly and patient with kids.
Never visited a Hall of Fame for sports so was not sure what to expect. They did a nice job with the bronze basketball shoes in the floor so you could see how small you are compared to them. The kickoff video was quite good. The basketball courts were a treat and fun to try in the peach basket. It was nice to look at all the history and the way it was a bit cylindrical. A good place to run through in a couple of hours or so as part of an overall visit to Springfield.
A very informative and interactive space for little kids and adults alike. Have all the information and memrobillia one would want. Events held in here have plenty of space and go well.
A very interactive experience and they offer a great AAA discount
For a basketball fan there is a lot to take in. I enjoyed learning more about the evolution of the game. The materials used and how rules evolved as it progressed. There are several interactive stations for kids. Just seeing the size of some of the shoes blows the mind. I really stress, only go if you are a fan.
I attended a Red Sox Winter Weekend event here. There was plenty of fun things for the kids to do between various height hoops for slam dunks, exhibits, a short basketball film, etc. It was a fun experience for my 6 year old.
