We had carry out from Great House for the first time a couple weeks ago. I didnt know they had shortened hours due to the pandemic when I ordered around 6:15. (They closed at 7.) No problem. I made it to the drive through right at closing time. But the food! Wow. We ordered a pound of brisket and it might have been the best I have ever had. It was amazingly moist and flavorful. You can put barbecue sauce on it if youd like, but it really doesnt need a thing. My wife and I loved it. I only had one problem. I got in trouble with my wife when I told her they had greens on their menu and I didnt order any. Looks like my next order will be brisket and greens. To quote Arnold, Ill be back.

Local place worth checking out. Best Mac n cheese I have had, and I have had a few. Don’t be frightened by the prices on the website. It’s about a third cheaper for dine-in. The owner is very nice.

I hardly EVER leave reviews for food. For anything for that matter; However, I HAD to make a comment about the food. It’s absolutely remarkable. I got the brisket with medium BBQ sauce, baked Mac & cheese, and corn bread and it has blown my mind. I will definitely be coming back!

The food was soul food. Man i really enjoyed the brisket, and chicken wings. Everything was hot. All around great experience.

I ordered the hot link, (get 2 sides) I had greens and the fried macaroni and cheese ball (2). Well the hot link was very delicious. Nice and spicy. The greens home cooked/family recipe, so good. As for the macaroni and cheese ball, well that is for tomorrow. I am too full right now.Great menu and price. It is located behind Mimosa, on Wabash.

Excellent pulled pork and collard greens! Convenient, not far off of interstate 72. I met one of the owners too. Amazing service, felt like we were at home.

This was my first time visiting your establishment. Im from Los Angeles and this place was really delicious and the price was reasonable..I visited a similar place in Anaheim, Ca and for the same deal I paid $86... And it wasnt nearly as good.So thank you very much for a wonderful experience!!!!

There were 5 in our party. On Tuesday 9-1-2020 at 5:30 PM. Most of us ordered half slab of ribs. We recieved 6 ribs... they were not small! Another ordered brisket, Fried zucchini sticks & wings. We had a lot of food left over to take home. All the food was awesome! We will definitely be back! Friendly service & very clean place! I give them a 100% .

Best beef brisket I’ve ever tasted. Pulled pork was DELICIOUS! OMG! You’ve got to have the deconstructed peach cobbler. I had it as my meal. The only improvement in the food would be the baked beans. They were just okay. Steamed broccoli, grilled corn on the cob and Mac and cheese were good. Can’t wait to go back and try other dishes.

My wife and I love BBQ, in fact she used to live in Kansas City so shes had a lot of great BBQ. Weve eaten at Great House at least 6-8 times and love it! Large portions and theyre not shy about pouring on the sauce. Ribs are excellent and the brisket is the best Ive had. Sides are also very good, especially the collared greens and cole slaw. Owners are friendly and the service is good. Great House is one of our favorite Springfield restaurants!

Hidden Gem!!!! The prices and portions are so amazing and only surpassed by the exquisite flavor. This business is putting heart and soul into BBQ. A must visit for any true foodie or BBQ fan any day of the week. Best fries in the city!!!!! Seriously if you get nothing else get wings and fries please love yourself and try the fries. The inside has a game area and is set up like a sports bar with different TVs for each sporting event and the staff is amazing. The only issue I noticed might have happened was the drive through window I believe is just for call in and contactless pick up because I didnt see a menu or order screen. If an owner or worker reads this please make fridays french fry friday so they can be half off and I can eat twice as many!!

Some of the BEST brisket I have ever had! So tender and flavorful! The Mac is homemade and perfect! Don’t even get me started on the cornbread, deliciousness overload! My spot for barbecue!

The ribs and pulled pork was good, and there was an ample amount of meat on the half-slab order. The service was pleasant. Clean bathrooms. The drinks are overpriced.

We had the bbq pulled pork and it was fantastic. You could taste the smoke and I loved the burnt / crispy bits throughout. I had the mild sauce and it was super tasty with just a little zing. Service was also top knotch.

I was alil burnt out on P.Ts bbq,so I decided to try Great house...The service was extremely slow,and I had missing side items.Kinda to far to travel back just for the sides.So I think Ill stay with P.Ts.

Great food, great service! We enjoyed the pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches with sides of French fries and cole slaw. Everything was delicious, especially the sauce. Coming back for more!

Food over priced and portions WAY TOO SMALL. I could’ve went to PTs or Gillys for this price and actually got full!This is the second time my order was bad/missing items and when you ask them about they act like it’s a problem to fix the discrepancy.

The pulled pork sandwich, french fries, and sweet tea were all delicious! There was more pulled pork than I could eat. I used the drive thru, and they were very efficient.

I bought my first pulled pork sandwich from this new place. I was so excited and then disappointed. While I expected some char, this sandwich was so full of it, I could not even chew it. I took three bites and threw it out. Definitely not worth the price.

Honestly i don’t know what the people who commented negative comments were thinking, But if you know what good southern bbq is....THIS PLACE IS FOR YOU. You pay for what you get. They will always have my business.

I tried them for lunch today, I had the brisket, grilled corn on the cob, collard greens and a side ceasar salad. The food and service was great, I’ll definitely be back.

Pretty mixed bag here. We tried this spot due to the review in the SJR. Wife looked them up online and found lots of interesting stuff, particularly walleye on Friday. We waited for a Friday and found out that they don’t ever sell walleye, or quite a few other items listed on their online menu/site. I’m sorry, but this is too easy to fix. How do you have all this stuff showing available online and you get there and none are even on the menu? Of course they were out of catfish too. But backing up, we had a heck of a time finding or even pulling in to the place. THEN when we get there there’s NO SIGN out from to tell you where the restaurant was. Service was a bit slow but apparently then only had one person waiting on everyone in the place. I’m not sure what’s going on with the “bar” as it’s a table with stuff on it. Does the Liquor Commission go for this? Waitress was pleasant enough, and prices were appropriate, not high. Lady who appeared to be a manager or owner was very nice. On the good side, the food we did get was good. Very good salad and dressing. Pulled pork very good. Chicken wings good. Some sides were ordinary. I think the place has some potential, food is good but the peripherals seem unnecessarily clumsy. Get a sign out front. Fix that silly online menu today... there’s no reason to cause people to come in for food you don’t sell.

Food and service are 5 star but the price is to high for this style restaurant. Not saying its not worth it but with so many choices in the area price will always win.

Ive had their bbq several times now and I truly loved it each time. Ive ordered rib tips, slabs and mac n cheese and will definitely visit a 1000 times more. Definitely looking to add them as a caterer as well great food nice atmosphere and awesome people

Visited this place on Sunday 3/1/2020. The food was good, but the lady that referred to herself as “one of the owners” could use a class on customer service etiquette. She wasn’t the most pleasant person & she also wasn’t very helpful with explaining menu items. I ordered the turkey tips dinner (came with 2 sides) & my daughter ordered a house salad, the bill was $23!!! Are you kidding me??? I probably won’t return simply because I wasn’t greeted with a smile. The chef (Chef Yo) did come out & asked how everything was & that was appreciated but the lady had already put a bad taste in my mouth

Food wasnt very good and not at all what we expected. Very expensive for amount of food you get. Cornbread was burnt. Only 2 options for BBQ. Only plus was a nice clean dining area.

OMG...the ribs tips were so juicy and the sauce was amazing. I also tried the macaroni and cheese balls...they were so good. I definitely will be bringing my family back for dinner.

Some of the best bbq I had in years. The ribs are so seasoned and tender I didn’t even need the sauce. Customer service is exceptional and I have no complaints on the time because who wants rushed food? I’ll definitely be back!

Me and my wife decided to try this place. On there signage and on Google it stated they were open we arrived at 830pm on a saturday night and were informed they were closed. Bad experience.

I had a fantastic time a very enjoyable dinner the service was fantastic I felt as if I was amongst family they were very hospitable respectful and courteous I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends Looking forward to the next time my family and I will diene there.

This is by far the best BBQ Ive had hands down. The service and staff are amazing the Ribs,Greens,Mac and cheese etc. I could go on and on. Ive had several items from the menu and havent been disappointed yet . Cudos to Chef Yo your doing a great job presentation is everything and the taste is absolutely amazing. So if your looking for great barbeque look no further Greathouse BBQ is the best in town I guess its all in the name. I will definitely be coming again and again.

My wife thought her food was pretty good (pulled pork & collard greens) but my pulled chicken was soggy and bland, the mac and cheese ball was gray inside and tasted weird. Not going there again.

We ordered take out last minute wanted to try this place. FYE all cooked to order Great Customer Service. Our list.....1. Catfish breaded well freshly cooked seasoned to perfection.2. Chicken wings whole breaded and seasoned well added lemon pepper season on 4 peices and lemon pepper wet sauce on the other order . I like the wet sauce better both good.3. Sides we tried was fries, greens, baked macaroni and cheese. All three very good.4. 1/2 Bag of Shrimp with potatoes, sausage, and corn lemon and cajun seasoning. This was very good should have gotten hot but wanted to test the waters first.5. Chicago style beef hot dogs I was very pleased sauce was made right sport pickles placed where they should be lbvs this does matter.6. Lastly cold beer at the bar in a chilled glass and I do mean chilled glass, You can see the frost.Loved it all Ill be back to try the BBQ menue #beeftips#turkey

It was ok. I ordered pulled pork and was given brisket instead. The brisket was very greasy and fatty and will avoid in the future. Told owner and seemed like she didnt care Friend ordered items for carry out and was missing side items. I doubt Ill be going back.

I really wanted to like Great House BBQ, I enjoy supporting local businesses. However, the service was rather slow to begin with, the lemonade I was served was just sugar water with barely a hint of lemon, the ribs were chewy, fully cooked but lukewarm, the sauce was rather watery, the cornbread was rather flavourless, and in general everything was exceptionally mediocre to quote a relative with whom I dined. I think improvements can be made but as it currently stands, I dont plan on returning.
