During the summer months I thought the course was in great shape. Last two times I’ve been out the greens aren’t in good shape and the sand traps are embarrassingly bad. Which is fine if you’re going to charge $30 to $35 for a weekday round. Their prices are consistently $44 to $54 though. I’d rather spend $10 to $20 more and go play a legitimately nice course in Cypress or Humble.
Nice course but the pace of play is absolute garbage. Had a group of 5 in front of me multiple times. All waiting for each other to hit before lining up their putt. Marshalls do absolutely nothing to keep the game moving. Last 4 rounds there have all exceeded 5 hours.
Winrose is an excellent and challenging course and the staff is very friendly and professional. I plan to play there regularly.
Great price for members! Food and services are fantastic.
If you like to play golf in 5+ hours, this is it. Pace of Play is the worst.
Great course... staff very accommodating
Played 18 this afternoon, the last time a played this course was back in 2010. This course has come so far since the last time I played a round. For winter conditions this course was very nice. The fairways were in great shape, all 18 greens were firm and rolled nice. I normally play the high end private courses around the Houston area, I must say that this course is just as good as the high end private courses.
Great course! Well definitely be back.
Nice clean course . Super nice !
Very nice golf course
Excellent experience, despite a quick shower.
Love this golf course.
4.5, actually. This course is the best value in the area. Clean fairways and greens. A very forgiving course. But not easy by any means. Many fun holes with quirky hazards. Clean, well maintained clubhouse with cheap eats. I really like playing here.
Course is in great shape.
Good course but a bit pricey!
My son plays and practices here for high school team. Great greens and driving range
Nice course. Well.maintained
Driving, chipping, and putting range were in great shape. Greens are fast and grass is hard, but it is Feb.
I would make love to the 9th hole if nobody was watching
Layout was great but condition was poor. Greens were the worst I’ve seen at this course
The golf course is always in good shape and the greens fees are good too. You can enjoy food at the turn or the 19th hole. A fun and challenging course for everyone.
Great staff, great golf course. New owner doing some amazing things their. New golf school, meet kept greens and fairways. tee come scheduling has been much better.
This is a good track. Ive probably played it approx 10 times. Challenging layout w/ some tough finishing holes. BUT if youre going to charge players $65 for a weekend round, the least you can do is work your sand traps. Overall the course is in good shape w/ nice fairways. The greens were a bit grainy this round but the bunkers were atrocious. Hard as a rock....literally like hard pan! If I worked there, I would be embarrassed at the playing conditions of the bunkers. Over 18 holes, I was lucky to find them only 4 times as there are quite a few in play throughout tge course. Bottom line...for $65, you can do better.
Great staff
A+ customer phone service for tee time and playing details and amazingly beautiful golf course
Green are great as the fairways. Sand traps need a little care.
My home course great staff the grill could use some work like the sand traps
Enjoyed it. Course in great shape
Course is great shape
Good course but play can be a little slow
I relocated from Northern California, Bay Area. This was the first course I played because of location. I have been here 6 months and playing most all tracks in my area. This is my favorite place to play, drink and eat. The staff are very friendly and the course is in great shape. 5 Stars, I will be joining as a member next month. Great job!
This review is for the the girl working in the cafe at the register, and the guy on the grill: You two should be ashamed of yourself. Just because you dont like the demographics of the people coming in to use your services, or you cant seem to find a reason to explain why theyre in such a hurry, doesnt give you any right to defile their food and then laugh about it with eachother as if everyone cant hear you or notice. Yall are disgusting. I hope you two get exactly what you deserve, because youre the reason that people like you cant be trusted.
Great golf course reasonably priced very nice facility and the folk that work there are extremely friendly
Great golf course with free 12oz beer with every round of golf! They even had a lady on the first par three taking a $5 bet where if you hit the green on your first shot you get $10 credit at the concession stand! If you miss, you get your $5 as credit for food. Had lots of fun playing this course with my dad!
I have been golfing Windrose for years. Its a great course.
Hard to beat this place for the price. Great grass.
Havent golfed here but great neighborhoods
Just went around the course and holy cow has it changed! Pure greens and good fairways. Worth every penny and the price is better than right. The remodeled clubhouse is totally different and almost didnt recognize it. Great job from new management.
Great Facilities. Awesome for the Price
Windrose used to have electric carts which worked fine and without fumes. The gasoline carts spew out a choking exhaust. I believe the gasoline powered golf carts need tune-ups. Otherwise, the course is well maintained with 4 sets of tees, good sand in the bunkers, and decently rolling greens. If every patron would fill in their divots, rake the bunkers, and repair their ball marks on the greens, then this course would would be a 4 out of 5.
It was great. Thanks, that is all I have to say.
Great course with some excellent specials. Probably one of the best kept secrets in this area.Convenient schedule allows me to play 9-12 holes before the sun goes down after work for 22 bucks. Now if I could just hit the ball straight!
The bunkers are terrible and the course is covered in weeds. The price they are charging is pathetic. Dont waste your money. Pace of play is very slow.
Like this course though it is relatively easy. Wide fairways with very nice grass, greens in really good shape, nice mix of holes. I play mostly on weekday afternoons and pace of play is good but sometimes can be a problem.
Music City Golf Tournament, great time, great course
Nice inexpensive course.
Had a good time. Shot 20 under par.
This is a nice Houston location they have clubs for user to rent, they have an 18-hole course thats relatively flat, extra smooth putting greens and beer cart service. A round of golf will cost around $30 per person plus cart fees
Welcoming staff friendly environment will always visit.
Course is in good shape. Great customer service at the front desk
This place is terrible. Everytime I go there the pro shop people are dissrespectful rude and its always something different. Would not recommend to anyone looking to get into the game. They will go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome.
Always a good time!
Fun course to play, can get backed up at times, and beverage cart isnt always available. It did begin to rain during our round which may have kept the beverage cart away.
Friendly. Helpful. Golf course and greens in great shape. Canteen has great food and reasonable prices.
It took over 5 hours to play a round of golf on a Monday. Absolutely ridiculous, with such slow play with no help from the Marshalls.
Nice track,Good greens,Friendly staff.Hold water though.Call ahead if recent rain.
It was a very nice golf course however in the past 2 years theyve allowing too many people on the course at a time. Wait time on the boxes are longer than ever and course has really taken a beating. Quality of the course has gone way down for the hike in prices lately. I think new management came in and raised prices but hasnt done enough maintenance on the course. Nice putting green and chipping area to work on your short game though.
Golf course stays in good shape and greens are exceptional. Owners always have various events during the week.
Great golf course all around. Very well maintained. Top to bottom a very enjoyable round of golf. The staff was friendly, pace of play was great and the course was in as good a condition as you will find at any public course in the area and a lot of private ones too. A couple of birdies and more than a couple of bogies, finished the round in 4:20, give or take. Best round of golf Ive had this year.
Just came from Windrose, and it was great! They have a nice spacious practice range, cool club house and pro shop! I didnt come with a collar shirt and the gentleman behind the desk let me borrow a nice loner shirt. I had my 1 year old daughter and wife with me .. I was afraid someone might tell them something . But it was all smiles, surely coming back!
Course is in great shape for early spring golf!
Good course, although the quality of the greens and rough can change dramatically throughout the year. Decent challenge, not too narrow, some water and fairway sand. Can play slowish on the weekends. Good prices, even during peak hours, but a great value for twilight. If you sign up for their email club, you can get (small) discounts - a couple dollars off, a free beer, etc. Pro shop staff is nice. Some of the marshalls can be rather rude though.
Nice golf course with a nice clubhouse and friendly staff.
We had a company party tonight. There was an employee for the windrose club who had short brown hair, (I didnt catch his name) because he cussed us out and kicked us out. It was barely 12 and he was cussing out everyone in our company telling us to get the f*** out because he had a kid to come home to.FYI, the VAST majority of us have kids to come home to. This isnt a random hole in the wall bar. This is a country club. WE are literally paying this guy to provide service to us. How do I know? I worked for a country club before. Ive never left a bad review before. But I hope the general public can take note of the service of this company and country club. A REAL country club would NEVER allow this kind of behavior especially after the the amount of money that was paid to hold this few hours company party. Im extremely dissatisfied with the club and its service. DO NOT bother to book anything with this club. Its a waste of money.
Nice public track, good value.
Ive been a member in the Windrose PDP program for 10 years, and Ive dealt with the guys there hundreds of times over the years, and Ive never once received anything but the friendliest service. Rude isnt a word Id ever use describe the staff there. As for the course, yes sometimes it got a little rough, but if you have a drought that kills half of the trees in this part of the state, or rain that can go on for weeks its hard to help. Unlike the members-only courses, which are becoming the norm these days, they dont have a dependable dues-based income for maintenance. But given all that, Windrose is the best value of any course in the Houston area. Dont like the pace of play? Try Memorial, or Herman park and plan on at least 6 hours for a round and 2 more to get home, and the price is the same! The good news is that in the last couple of months and this is July 2016, theyve been doing a lot of improvements to the course and clubhouse. Eroded areas are being repaired, the greens and fairways are really coming around and at 7200 yards, if you think the course is too easy, then you should return to the PGA tour and make millions! Play the tips on a windy day and tell me how easy it is! There... I feel better now!
Because I play golf with my school and my coach took us there it was amazing
Great place to play
Great place to golf. The food is great. The best chef
This place is a DUMP compared to the way it was 10 years ago. It’s gotten a lot worse. St Augustine grass is taking over on some holes and the greens haven’t been that good in years. Usually the last course to recover from the winter. Longwood, Cypresswood, Woodforest, Highmeadow Ranch, Cypress Lakes, and Augusta Pines are all better alternatives in the area. Not impressed with Gleanlock Pines either!!
Professional staff! Great spaces.
Course is in very good shape, but the same problem they have always had is pace of play. We had a 9:15 AM tee time, get there early and there is a line stacked. Go to the starter and find three groups in front of us. How in the world can this happen unless you are overbooking your start times. We get off and the pace is absolutely terrible. Two members of our foresome had to leave before completing the round because of how long it was taking and any time we would speak to the marshal we got words, but no help. Find out there were two fivesomes in front of us. The round almost took five hours and the pace of play makes it very difficult to get into any real flow of playing. It was this way when I played him 6 months ago in the afternoon, 11 months ago, and in all honestly I have never played a round here around four hours. It just isnt enjoyable anymore and I will just a bit and go to another course where I dont have this problem. Funny thing is both the scorecards and a sign on the carts talks about pace of play and yet this is consistently the slowest course I play on in the Houston area regardless of day or time and it isnt that hard a course.
Love this course, one of our go-to courses... and reasonably priced
Upgrading fairways!
Very good greens
The course is in great shape. The greens roll nicely.
Great practice area (driving range, putting green, chipping area).Pros:Course is always in great shape and is tucked into a nice quiet neighborhood.Staff has always been very friendly.Best value in Spring, especially in their twilight times.Cons:They used to have GPS on the carts, but that has been removed. There are not a lot of yardage markers found on the course, which makes things a little unnecessarily challenging.Pace of play has been an issue for as long as I can remember here. Unless you go at the crack of dawn, youre in for a 4.5 - 5 hour round with a lot of time spent standing on the tee box or in the fairway.
Nice golf course. Great way to start the day playing 18 holes
Just another golf course
Course and greens are quite good but the pace of play sucks. This happens every time.
Great room for a meeting, helpful staff, plenty of parking, good neighbor in this wonderful community, deeply greatful to have them in the community.
Played a few rounds here. The only complaint is that during twilight play, no one seems to be interested in maintaining pace. It is rare to get through the full 18 even on the longest day when starting at 4 or 430.
Good course, always kept in great condition, not terribly challenging but still manages to keep things interesting hole-to-hole.
Good course, plays great. Great pricing and staff.
Great atmosphere and great fairways since the new management has taken over.
Decent course, overpriced and management is awful. Marshals and starters and good But the guys in office are rude. Even to a paying member. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Minus the weather, it was a great day on the course
It wasnt like the old days when I would play Windrose. They were pretty behind today, but the greens on the front nine were awful. Bumpy, big patches, had not been rolled recently. My friends cart almost died halfway through the front nine and we had to exchange it at the turn. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience I have ever had at Windrose and I have played here over 30 times. I brought my group to Windrose bc I have always enjoyed it. I will not be back at this course again. My friend is a PGM professional and I wanted to show him a good time. He was very disappointed in the quality and even the customer service.
This course is in terrible shape. It used to be a fantastic course but has become pretty bad. Portions of the fairways are washed out with just bare soil and the greens are spotty.
Hi Hi OKMThqdyet, drove the car. “Do you know whkat the propertye
Nice coarse. Cheap golf carts.
Great public course. Excellent practice facility.
Fun course and layout just make sure you have 5 hours to play a round. Always overbooked on weekends
Golf course is one of the best in the area.good food and service
