Nice trails. In the Preserve there’s lots of picnic tables on trails. One restroom. Lots of parking. Connects to trails going to lake but nowhere to sit on them. Take lots of water. Hiking boots best for trails to lake

Covid-friendly review. The nature preserve building is closed. There is a wheelchair friendly portapotty available for the public to use. Flowers. Trails. A small pond. Grassy area to walk around. Horse/hiking trail that heads to grapevine lake. Watch for horse droppings. They say no dogs allowed on trails.

Bob Jones Nature Preserve and Centre is a hidden gem situated in the corner of Grapevine Lake and adjacent to a State Park. It provides simple walking trails around the centre and a gate that opens up to miles of walking and equestrian trails around the lake on the state park.Bob Jones was a former slave who became a land owner after the American civil war. He loved nature and donated the land so generations could enjoy and learn about the wonders of nature as well.

Such a delightful place but super narrow trails

The land that Bob Jones Nature Center is on belonged to a former slave. Visiting the nature center is always a wonderful experience. The sand trails can be difficult for some, so I recommend wearing hiking boots. They no longer allow horse riding on the trails, but you’ll still run into horse poop every now and again. A few trails are overgrown, but that is fine with me. This place is an oasis away from the city.

Great place for hiking. Well maintained trails. Wildlife: we saw wild turkeys, vultures, deer, lizards, caterpillars, and a lot of butterflies. Not crowded. A gem in the metroplex. Horse ride outside the park is permitted. Trails inside if the park are connected to outside trails. Great outdoor. You can hike to Grapewine lake. Herons at the lake.
