Quiet hiking trail, more geared towards mountain biking than walking. Easy parking to access this trail, it is a great alternative to other crowded trails. Location the path to birthing cave proved elusive - no signage
Yes, this is the trailhead for Birthing Cave.We stopped here to make lunch before heading out on our mountain bikes and heard that question repeatedly. No signs for it but its on Google maps so download the offline version before you get there. We parked here to bike Mescal trail and followed up with Chuck Wagon. I consider myself beginner to intermediate and had so much fun on both trails. I didnt finish Mescal because it got a little too sketchy for my skill level but I did complete Chuck Wagon loop. I did have to dismount a few times to get up or down some rocky sections but it was doable. We did the trail clockwise and LOVED that it finished downhill through the forest. This trail had so many features to test your skills - rocky outcroppings, ups and downs, twists and turns through the forest, fun transitions, and sandy wash areas. It was difficult for me towards the end because my legs were so tired but I just dismounted and enjoyed a little hike for a minute. The only downfall was when I hit a rocky ledge and fell over the side into a manzanita bush. Lol! The bush won.
This is a nice short trail from Dead Mans trail. I didnt do the whole length because I was limited in my water supply. I did enjoy the walk as it was peaceful. The lizards run all around you while walking which makes you think you are walking backwards. It seemed to be a lot of fun for people on bikes as well as they went past me.
According to AllTrails and the posted map prior to the entrance, the trail was supposed to be 3.7 miles long but it wasnt. You have to go almost 4.3 miles to get to the end. Also, its labeled on the AllTrails app as easy but I would say its easy-to-moderate because heading up to the canyon is easy (almost entirely flat) but once youre at the canyon the trail goes up and down the sides of the canyon while increasing elevation. Going up and down the sides there are a lot of rocks and hidden roots but ample amount of shade so its a fair trade off.
Super fun bike ride. Its up hill from the trailhead, fyi.
We went to birthing canyon and it was amazing. Such great views and it was a pretty easy hike.
Awesome night walk with our guide, John.
Nice light hike to the birthing cave just wish they had clearer signs to get to it. Had their not been people passing by we might not have found it! But awesome mini hike and very steep.
Well marked, plenty of parking.
Easy trail with good tread and not much incline. However, the trail does become rocky after a couple of miles or so.
Super fun trail fast with lots of drops.
Beautiful trail, easy path.
Amazing views, easy to follow trails. Not ideal for a beginner mountain biker but downhill was fun.
Explored the Birthing Cave. It was awesome! Gotta pay attention to the trail to not get lost like few people we’ve encountered on the trail.
The trail itself is an easy trail, moderate climb, blind corners and a few tight spaces in the beginning. This matters because mountainbikers cant see pedestrians. So everyone has to be on the lookout. Once it veers to the right, no mountainbikers allowed on this section. A quieter short trek to enjoy. Also the parking is very sparce so to speak. And its on a corner, so again a blind spot. Drivers have to be mindful of those trying to park. Last note. I wish people would pick up their trash instead of leaving it. Not just here but on all trails.
A very big thanks to Barlow Jeep made my trip that much sweeter!!!! Great people a must if u really want to see the sights !!!
Omg so many trails so little time. TAKE YOUR PICK, REALLY!
Great trails! Easy for beginners. Do it early morning in the summer to avoid exhaustion.
One of the greatest hikes!
Long Canyon trail one of my favorites in the Sedona area.
