I went in late January so it was the perfect temperature for a walk. The orange and red color of the rock was absolutely gorgeous!! The chapel was stunning and a create place to just sit and think. I do suggest you get there right away in the morning because it can become very busy. Parking is also limited and can be hard to find. Handicap parking is available at the top by the Chapel. Golf carts were available to cart people up to the chapel if they didnt want to walk up the hill.
This location is worth a visit. It is located in a nice neighborhood and nice geological location. The architecture and history is also interesting. It is an active Catholic church. It is much smaller than I expected. There is a nice bookstore down below. We visited during COVID pandemic. It was not very busy. There is limited parking. There is also a bit of a hike up a long bridge/ramp to the church. It is handicap accessible. I dont recall an elevator to the gift shop, but expect there is one. The direction of the parking spaces encourage you to drive to the top and turn around in the round-about which is very tight. Our SUV required some backup to make it around.
Dont stop at the bottom, drive up and take the small walk inside. The feeling is of reverence and a calm like nowhere other than the hiking trails. Do go and visit this.
Beautiful and Angelic. One of the most visited places in a of Arizona. A special place for prayer and to give thanks to God.
Parking is limited, but the chapel is beautiful! Well worth the hike up the street. If the steepness of the paved path intimidates you, don’t worry there are golf carts escorting people to the top if needed.
Cool spot to see. Church is built into the rocks, and has a gift shop! The scenery all around is gorgeous and well worth checking out.
Beautiful Chapel in Sedona. Parking is a nightmare on weekends. Nice gift shop and friendly, helpful employees.
A beautiful cross - a must see. Great views around that are good for those who cannot hike much. Was there around 11am on a Sunday, and it was pretty crowded but not unbearably so. Only problem is that people do not obey quiet signs, and the staff do not really enforce it.
This chapel is so beautiful and peaceful. It is a great place to say a prayer for loved ones who have passed into heaven!
Gorgeous surroundings, church architecture and artistry. Great energy. Sketchy parking, so set parking expectations low, but hope for good timing :)
Its a beautiful place in the Sedona red rock hills. Many tourists there but we were able to go in the church and pray, and spent time in the gift shop underneath.
This is stunning! You must stop by for the view and just the beauty of this church. Its small and easy to see quick so it should be added on to anyones trip in the area.
This is one of the most beautiful man-made places in Sedona. Its free, theres parking but not a lot, so be patient or take a Sedona trolley tour.Therere no restrooms here, except three port-a-potties located near the entrance. This spot also offers a good view of the chapel from below.Theres a gift shop down the stairs with plenty of beautiful pieces.
Short enjoyable hike. Beautiful cross, I havent seen one similar to this one. Great source of positive energy!
Beautiful! I stop here every time I come to Sedona (maybe it’s the vortex).Me Persigno y ahí me voy a mi rumbo. They have a small gift shop down the stairs.Amazing view outside.
Gorgeous spot for viewing some of Sedona’s signature red rocks. Easily accessible for people with varying levels of mobility, there’s handicapped parking at the top and even golf cart shuttles to the top if needed. It’s a quick walk up on smooth pavement.
A must see when visiting Sedona, beautiful and peaceful scenery. Gift shop was a line to wait your turn dur to covid but worth it
Nice overlook. Beautiful architecture, though a little underwhelming to visit. However, it gives you a great view of the area.
This was completely unexpected visit for me because I do not even know I was coming here or that this place existed. Im so glad my brother and sister-in-law brought me here. Beautiful and serene church setting and Im not even religious. Jesus Christ on the bronze cross is pretty powerful stuff. This was one of the unexpected highlights of my road trip. If you dont want to walk up, just use the friendly golf cart drivers and tip them a buck or two, its a lot quicker.
It is beautiful. Went during COVID all/everything was in order and safe. Although...unsure about the parking and offsite behaviour of people. I guess it is the normal for the majority of folks in BMW/Lexus or up scale SUVS but good luck trying to get in and out with out any issue. It might be the Lululemon mentality...
FASCINATING PLACE TO VISIT
It is located on the hill top, drive from Phoenix or coming from Flagstaff is accessible.Dedicated staff to help park your car, cart ride for people with disabilities from parking space to entry ramp.Catholic diocese managed chapel, you can pray and spend some time within the chapel, and enjoyable view of Sedona Rocks any part of the day is amazing. I love this Chapel
Nice place to go.. but some visitors are not wearing mask..
Beautiful chapel. People in golf carts were great giving rides up to it. Very courteous and let you know what you were looking at. Tips optional. Loved the atmosphere of the chapel. Amen
This is just a quick visit but looks over the valley good place for pictures. Chapel is beautiful with gift shop on lower floor. It is an incline walk to get to the church
Gorgeous. Lit a 3 day candle. The clouds move fast here.
I just love this chapel. The scenery is amazing and the chapel itself just gives you an amazing feeling when youre inside. If you need to park below the church there is a golf cart that can take you up. There is a portion that you must walk up on your own. It is a little steep but the pathway is paved and gentle incline. There is no cost.
Appreciate the effort in building it, also the way it has been incorporated into nature . Parking can be tricky, park at the first available slot even if it’s at the entrance.
Absolutely beautiful location and chapel. Highly recommend the visit.
Awesome place and a must see during a visit to Sedona. The interior was as impressive as the exterior. We had no problems with parking, but I could tell that may be a big problem during peak times. Highly recommend.
Truly unique architectural feat. Chapel is built into the beautiful Sedona red rock. Public is allowed to visit but it is an active Roman Catholic church. Best to avoid times when mass is in session unless you plan to participate in the service.
Definitely worth the trip. Beautiful views and architecture. And free!
Christ statue was beautiful. Looking from the parking lot was a wonderful view of the mountains.
Neat, small interesting church. The views were nice and the church was small. I wouldnt go out of the way but if your looking for something to do
Beautiful church!!! There was a line for the gift shop so we didnt stay. Loved the history - its posted outside the church. Its a tiny climb up.
While it is a church, its a center where everyone is welcome.A beautiful location, with a great history.
Beautiful a must see even if you are not religious stop by and enjoy the beautiful view and outstanding sculpture on the altar, the gift shop is a nice place to visit the staff is lovely I enjoy a nice chat with the clerk cant remember her name I remember she was from Ohio originally. She was very knowledgeable about the sculpture we will be back on our next visit.
Wonderful experience! Very peaceful and uplifting even with the crowds of visitors. Everyone was very respectful of those who were there for prayer.
Going to this place was an exhilarating experience. You dont have to be a Catholic to enjoy the beauty of the church and the jaw dropping view of surrounding mountains and rock formations. My pictures dont do the place justice. I visited in April 2019 and the weather was perfect
I love it here! Surrounding views are magical. Solemn, good place to pray and reflect .
We visited the chapel and was very beautiful how it was carved into the mountain a must see .staff was very nice and friendly. If you want a beautiful scenic drive take 89 A it so worth it God created a beautiful place make time to enjoy it and take it all in promise you wont regret it.
What a beautiful place to visit, religious or not. Very beautiful views and Architectural. Worth a stop
What a wonderful church! Its AMAZING! My heart and eyes couldnt take in enough of the beauty and splendor to behold!
Great views, and I liked being near to people who pray and worship.
This is a very pretty, very holy place. It gets busy and parking is limited. There are no restrooms up at the chapel (otherwise, 5 stars). There are port-a-pottys near the entrance to the parking lot. So, plan ahead if you have children.
Incredible views of the valley and red rock mountain ranges behind it, Bell Rock and Cathedral Rock from this absolutely gorgeous chapel with a beautiful history! It is a must see when in Sedona, Az..... such a wonderful simplicity to its design; it definitely brought more peace to myself and my husband. We loved the little gift shop below too. The grounds are gorgeous also. The statue of Christ inside is magnificent!
Church is open until 5pm, its a pretty view from the top and the church inside is peaceful and quiet. Its very soothing just sitting inside.
Bit over-hyped. A lot of people, minimal parking, and youll probably only spend about 10 minutes there unless youre actually attending one of their Catholic masses. I honestly just prefer the surrounding landscape to all the gaudy buildings trying to catch your attention.
Beautiful scenery. Loved the peacefulness of the church built right out of the rocks.
So beautiful. Very spiritual place
Beautiful, historic church! Dont forget the gifts hope in the lower level! Great souvenirs and religious memorabilia.
This chapel is a beautiful work of art by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. You can see an amazing view of the surrounding area from the church.
Simply Devine in concept and structure.
This is a place of great beauty and peace. Very nice trail. No restrooms in the chapel.
What can I say other than its the most peaceful.church Ive been in in a long time.
The most interesting chapel Ive ever visited. Unbelievable surroundings. So beautiful. Pretty touristy but worth a visit. Nice gift shop too.
So beautiful. The gaze of Jesus on the tree of life is breath taking. In addition you get to view Sedona in a surreal place
Just a awesome site every time.
A place to visit in Sedona. It’s magical and breathtaking. The souvenir shop provides you with so many beautiful gifts to remember this place.
This chapel is so beautiful and deeply serene.
Such a beautiful place. I highly recommend anyone to visit. You will be filled with such great emotion. The Jesus statute was beyond beautiful.
Breath taking views over the Sedona mountains.
Must visit spot in sedona. Pretty busy so try to arrive early in the day. Great little gift shop downstairs.
Very impressive. Im not a religious person and was skeptical of a structure that would distract from the natural beauty of this location. Upon arrival I shared the vision of the fella who designed it. It was very tastefully created to complement the surroundings and also make powerful impact on anyone who makes the pilgrimage.
This was closed during my visit but I was able to get some good photos outside the gate. Jeff Mullins Photography Adventures. Happy Hiking!
It was really cool with great views and easy access to the chapel and an overview of a beautiful mansion. Only saw the inside from the distance because of the COVID precautions but it looks nice inside. Great spot to do a panoramic shot of the mountains in the distance along side the chapel.
One of the must see sites in the area. Its a quick visit.
Amazing place to visit. Views are spectacular.
Beautiful views and story about how why it was built. No mass here currently. Pretty place.
It was nice to see this in person. Be preparaed for a short but steep hike. Also, social distancing and masks were not enforced. There were a lot of people here.
A place of solitude and moment of rest. Great views and impressive views when acknowledging the surrounding landscapes. This place did more to my soul in the quiet chapel - to acknowledge His provision in all the details of life. I appreciate the respect and maintenance.
A simple beautiful chapel on the top of a hill. The last walk from the golf cart stop off is a bit steep but very doable!
Pretty neat place, go early or expected to walk up the hill.
Wow! Sedona never fails! Wherever you go it doesn’t disappoint. Chapel of the Holy across is no different! The only issue depending on what day you go is that it’s too busy and parking is nonexistent. Unless you’re willing to drive back and forth until a spot opens up. Otherwise the location is so amazing and the views are breathtaking! I parked towards the bottom and walked up to the Chapel. It’s worth a visit if you have the patience for the crowd. Like anywhere else you go to in Sedona. ️
The view was spectacular and it was built right into the hill. The energy of the location was incredible. Ill be back for sure.
Unique Chapel amon the Red Rocks in Sedona!
Perfect structure for a perfect reason.. God bless us with this wonderful church
This is a must see. I recommend parking at the bottom and walking to the top or ride the golf cart to the top. The views are breathtaking. There are some beautiful plants that line the road. Bathrooms are at the bottom of the hill. There is a house that is a mega mansion that you will google after your trip to see who owns it. Take your time to enjoy the views.
Beautiful place to visit. Very inspiring both architecturally and spiritually. Was crowded on the weekend we visited and masks were required to go in.
Really amazing structure. Very little parking. Definitely go on a week day and be prepared for a crowd.
An amazing image for sure. I miss back in the day when you would be the only one there now its unfortunately filled with tourists
Cool place to check out.You can drive up to the top. There’s parking especially for disability. There’s a ramp to go up to the church that you need to walk. There’s a big house next to the chapel and it’s a Romanian owner. A doctor.
Docent was very helpful explaining the history of the Chapel. Beautiful place to light a candle for a loved one while visiting.
Small, but impressive architecture. Obviously it was design influanced after Frank Lloyd Wright, it integrates the natural rock formations with a very angular conrete and stone structure. It has become quite the tourist trap, they must make quite a bit of money in donations or trinket sales, and there it a surprising number of parking spaces going up the hill.
Breathtaking place.Need better discipline of visitors inside chapel... There was a couple speaking loudly and the keeper engaging with them in loud laughter, while visitors tried to be in prayer.
The surrounding area is beautiful for pictures, and the chapel itself was really powerful. Highly recommended.
Beautiful place. very small church. love that it was built into the hill
This was such an amazing place to visit.
Dont miss looking at Jesus eyes - they are incredibly well done, super intense.
It was very peaceful in the views were beautiful! I love how gorgeous and quiet it is
Holy wow! I would have preferred the reverence typically afforded a church but I imagine most people there visiting are not religious. I myself am not but talk about a church that helps you feel close to God
A must visit if you are in the area. Park in the street and then go up walking. Beautiful church and the view form the mountain is great.
