PANDEMIC EDITION: My neighborhood park, where you can take a long, peaceful walk through woodland nature, take a deep breath and be reminded of what to be grateful for. Also, there are some kids having a blast playing lazer tag, so theres that too. Plenty of space to social distance. I chose to stay masked until I found an isolated spot to sit, everyone is kind of doing there own thing but isnt uncomfortable. Theres a sense of grounding while sitting/walking among the mighty firs that really helps during this time of stress and uncertainty.
Beautiful area. Wonderful to see so many families walking around the Lake (with masks on)?
FF the signs for parking, walking and running. One way directions. Dont be the one without compliance. Follow the signs it says wrong way dont be the one that can not read a sign. Dont be the one that didnt even finished 1st Grade. Things people have to adapt, too. Be courtesy with people around. Park is closed but there are still availablity to walk, walk your pets, run, tennis, soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball, golfers have to make reservations for tee. Especially Football. Just bring your equipment and safety precaution CDC compliance rule book. Be safe and Healthy!
Ive been going to the zoo and the park for years. This review is for the park at 50th and woodland park ave. I love it. Its huge. It has tons of picnic tables with grill and covered picnic area with water and grills and if you rent a shelter, which is totally unnecessary theyll turn in the two outlets so you have power. The picnic areas are wooded and beside them is a huge great fields the whole park is covered with gentle rolling hills and canvases a little valley. Crisscrossing the entire landscape are well tended trails and paths to walk, jog, or bike. My dog is even buried here.
A LOT of homeless people which is fine, but I would not take your little kids there. I went there to go biking and there are a few jumps around there. again the ONLY reason that I gave it a bad review was that there are homeless people ALL OVER THE PLACE.
I would have rated this higherin the past but parking access has been very limited for aeveral months and areas I used to enjoy are now filled with people residing in tents. I understand why that is, but it limits recreational use of the park.
The park is open however oddly enough most of the parking spaces are closed off even along Greenlake Way, although I found parking across the street quickly. The park hasnt changed much in the last 20 years, there used to be lots of rabbits however theyre long gone. Theres lots of graffiti along the freeway towards the zoo and lots of tents and tarps set up, I was surprised by the amount of homeless people here especially along the Aurora freeway. Id imagine the park must be overrun at night and I wouldnt recommend being there in the dark. Nevertheless people got to live somewhere so its really not the worst place for people to camp out.
Having this park only a few blocks away has been an incredible privilege for the last few years! Theres so much you can do here, its great! Day picnics, trails for walking, running, and biking, tennis courts, you name it! Woodland Park is my favorite park in the city, definitely check it out!
A hidden gem in the Northeast Seattle, WA Valley. A rescue center for wildlife that had either been injured or owned illegally in deplorable conditions. Now these animals are well cared for, kept in habitats that are clean, well maintained, and in a beautiful setting resembling their natural habitats.
This park is beautiful! We grabbed take out and headed to the park to eat. There were ample picnic tables to choose from and the large trees made for a really nice atmosphere. The parking and roads within the park are still closed due to COVID, but parking is easy off of 50th.
Great dog park. Great for dogs to run and socialize. Wooded areas with hills and steps it also has water with bowls.
Good place for sports be played. Tennis, soccer, track and baseball fields
I decided to take my son out his room and invite him to the Woodland Park. Notorious issues First, road closed. hard to get to the Zoo, Second parking tickets $2 dollars more, buying them by phone and.Third, inside Park with FACE MASK ON, We still have to keep the 6 feet.distance and, the worst was every place that we went, we couldnt find any animal just a few, a bunch of spiders and spiders web everywhere, wherever we did go just windows and no animal, something important that you were excited and wanted to see, you had to wait in line.Im not going to complain about the money for the tickets the Park really need it more than we do. The only important thing to me was, give to my son a beautiful day of learning and knowing from different animals but, you failed me again Woodland Park. My son was bored and upset because I told him about the beautiful experience that he wil have going with me to the ParkIn my personal opinion, open the Park on these times is a big mistake, the 3 or 4 animals that were lucky to see, they didnt look ok, neither. The Woodland Park now these days is more like walking in the mountains trails, where you can hear something but you cant see it and, they charge you money for it. So sad.
This park is great top to bottom. You have a pitch and putt, soccer and softball fields, tennis courts and by far one of the most diverse skateparks in our beautifully county on the north end an expanse of trails and short nature walks that give you the feeling of being out of the city. The only downfall that I have found is for some strange reason rouge gay men prowel the parking lot looking for public affection from strangers of the same gender.
Lots of drug addicts in the park. Otherwise it is beautiful
Simply, my favorite park. You can walk around forever and still discover new paths. They have trees and they are kind to the homeless people that live there although they are not supposed to. This park has real heart.
This is a great zoo with lots of shade on those rare hot days, or alternatively tree cover on those more frequent wet ones. They have excellent habitat enclosures for the animals as well as frequent enrichment opportunities to keep the animals engaged.Worth a membership if you plan to visit frequently, and worth the frequent trips! I love their green energy initiatives too.
We love coming here, all of the animals were out & up front when we visited.
Nice park that is unfortunately being taken over by homeless illegally camping and leaving trash everywhere. There must be close to 40 tents throughout the park with more popping up every week
This place is great I love the trails through the woods they are super fun and you can get some good air too.
We love this zoo. The animals have huge enclosures and its not over crowded.
The Zoo is fantastic!COVID-19 VISIT:They are currently allowing members in by appointment only. They also have the zoo set up as a one way loop. The carousel was closed as it would be difficult to sanitize and it is indoors.
I got an annual pass so I try to bring my family every weekend when I can. Only a couple down falls would be some of the animals are not out or taken out of their habitat and the prices of food.
Nice park in the city. Play fields, tennis courts, and a track. Can get crowded.
Love this park, but tons of homeless people have now taken over. Booo!
My dog loves it. Plenty of room to run around. Itd be nice if the city added a couple of lights in there for the dark evenings. Once 5 pm hits its pitch black.
Great place for the afternoon! Also fantastic dog park with smart owners!
Trees! Shade! Squirrels! Tons of hiking. Its great!
My son had a great time, tired him out. Walking trails are clean, restrooms plentiful and volunteers incredibly helpful and sociable.
Ive been going to Woodland Park since the 1950s. Some parts have changed a lot, and there are things I miss sorely. But there are places I still go to renew my sense of belonging, and there are still happy surprises. A walk on a wooded hillside on a gray day can always be counted on to make me glad I live in Seattle.
Allows bikes, skateboards and scooters. Over packed all the time, but has good ledges and rails. Kinda crunchy for bikes, but a ledge is a ledge.
A great place for outdoor activities and relaxing. Forest bathing.
I visited the off leash dog park with my mini Aussie and as far as off leash dog parks go this is definitely on my top 10 list. I liked the lay of the land as its not on a level plain rather on a slope affording it a couple levels for running up and down with plenty of room for us to toss and chase the ball around even with the amount of dogs that were there-it was clear how popular this place is. People were friendly and considerate as well as attentive to their dogs which seems to becoming more of a rarity lately (thats a rant for another time). We had a nice time and thats what is important. Lastly, I found parking to not be an issue.
Love this place. Its Decemeber so there are lots of lights and activity to explore.Excellent parking..the best animals around..My family loves to explore!
A large and beautiful park with something for everyone. Whether you are looking for Tennis, Soccer or just hiking trails - you have it. We went there for High School cross country meet amongst pouring rain but still loved it. A tip : If you dont find parking keep going around the park as there are many different spots rather than just one.
Wonderful place to run.Rather big park. Typical there will be some sort of run there in the weekendRunning along the park lake view and wonderful nature. We drove but you could take the bus as well. If you do drive there are plenty of parking
Plenty of animals out once it cooled off. Great time. Staff was friendly. Awesome face paint too.
Great little local park, family friendly, usually a few dogs.
Good nice park
If you go here during the spring or summer check out the rose garden, Beautiful place as for the zoo not really my thing. Overall its nice and a stones throw from downtown Seattle.
Best skatepark in Seattle for sure. Amazing community.
This place is great - very quiet and peaceful.
Clean place and love one.
Great place for a jog around the lake and park.
Still a beautiful zoo during Covid
Bmx park ride at lower woodland. Track was so nice. A little road with me. Her Dad took videos of her. I got my own shots with a lot of views. Great day.
Beautiful park. Too bad its closed right now due the pandemic.
This is a great zoo, but I dont really go there for the animals. The zoo holds concerts outdoors in the summer, and thats my favorite part. There are parks and gardens all around the zoo property. Its more than just a place that holds animals. As a zoo, though, they do all they can to be humane to the animals, and they invited my school to come for free to learn.
A definite must see in the seattle area. The staff was great and friendly, I LOVED that they had water bottle refill stations all over the place, and you could see that people there genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do. I have loved woodland park zoo each time I have gone.
How can I possibly say enough good things about this zoo in just one paragraph? WPZ takes the best care of both its animals and its guests. Just visit. You wont regret it!
A large city park, with ample picnic areas and covered shelters. It abuts the zoo, but there are separate entrances and parking lots. A great get-away in the urban core.
I love this zoo
Clean well cared for animals
Its a field to play soccer on but it is well used and could need some TLC ..very hard pitch. But none the less its a place to play.
Woods in the city! Coyotes and owls live here. Good thing the lark of full of squirrels. . Cross the street to green lake where eagles ( in the summer) and heron live. Bats too so if you walk at dusk check out the tree top area. and of course the ducks!!in the winter there are special ducks making the lake home for migration and in the summer ducklings. If you cross a bridge you’ll find the zoo!!
Absolutely love it here. Love bringing my dog to the dog park and walking around the lake. Its just so beautiful here
The place of my childhood. Sometimes they’re homeless in the upper lots, kinda a lot of trash, the parks dept. is always trying to plant new stuff and people and their dogs are always right there to knock it down. Good bootleg mtb trails(for a city park of its size). The dog park is nice too. Always a good throwback. RIP childhood.
Amazing. Great place to workout on a run. I run here daily with my cross country team and we have no issues with it. Other families come as well to hang out, walk, other teams come as well for soccer etc
I like this place because I really felt different their.
Good soccer fields at Woodland Park. Just put fresh rubber on the field, too.
If you can keep an open mind. Youll find adventure around every corner. Some awesome times in this park.
Cruising in the daytime cruising in the nightime... NOW FAMILY FREINDLY!
One of my favorite things to do during the Fall Season. Lovely leafs beautiful trees, and easy to walk around.
Great enclosures and always see /at least/ 80% of the animals if youre coming on good weather (temperate) days, especially close to feeding times! The enclosures are arranged to encourage close, and safe, viewing too. If you dont see them, theyre usually in provate dens which is helping keep the animals healthy so you canteven be disappointed! Always see volunteers and zookeepers around too- it seems they really live animals which is always good to see!Ive been going here for years now and its always a good time for me!
Sk8 park!
Great place to take the dogs at their dog park or bring your bags keep thim on a leash and walk anywhere. :)
Amazing conservation efforts. Very humane enclosures and wonderful animals
The fall colors are brilliant today if you can brave the wind. Many others dont seem to be swayed though.
Here all the time as a kid. I remember the rides, train & kiddie pool & addmition to the zoo was free. They also still have the tallest swings then anywhere around.
I love Woodland Park its one of the most inclusive parks in the greater Seattle metropolitan area it has everything from a tennis courts and Lawn Bowling to swimming pools and fish and chips has every variety of food imaginable has kiddie pools has bike paths & Boat rentals it is the Paramount Park in the Pacific Northwest
It a great place to go I grow up there
Beautiful, quiet, relaxing and plenty to do. Dog park, tennis courts, BBQ area with covered picnic tables, Greenlake and a whole lot more.
A very nice zoo especially during Christmas
Its ryte by green lake, a public park, where I used to be a life guard, Id recommend this too anyone looking to have fun in the sun, or snow, but most likely, the rain.
Snow on the ground and I saw a raccoon foraging for sustenance
An enjoyable and expansive suburban park, with and near so many interesting features...zoo, lake, fields, riding, pool, library...a great destination.
Love dog park! Beautifully kept grounds! Skate park...trails. I love this place and go almost daily!
Love the walk through the woods.Love the off leash dog park.Plenty of parking!
Its a beautiful park to visit with friends and family and just hand out, have lunch, play games, whatever you want really. Especially if you are in the Seattle area. Also, be sure to check out the zoo. I havent been there yet, but Im sure its really great.
Ok
Best x/c running course in the city if not more.
Went to the off leash area and its a great spot for our dog to get exercise.
One place that I wish I had more time to enjoy!
My local park and is generally the best park with many park options. Park life!
This is an alright dog park. The positives:- It is centrally located by Green Lake, so perfect for some playing and then walking around the lack with your dog- The terrain and layout is interesting, and unlike any other I have been to. The dog park itself is on a really steep hill, and my little dog enjoyed running on it- The park is shaded and cool when I was there on a warm summer day- There appear to be some running trails in the park as well, on which I saw some off leash dogs (no idea if that is allowed though...)The negatives:- That super steep hill is not the most accessible, and I can imagine it is a nightmare in the rain- There are no lights in or near the park or parking, so I can imagine it gets dark pretty early in the winter- There is only one dumpster for poop bags (outside in the parking lot) so many people just left the bags on the ground/benches/fences inside. There were at least 5 I counted around the park.- There are only a few parking spots near the park itself, otherwise you need to find parking near Green Lake or further up near some picnic sheltersOverall, this park is fine. Ill take my dog there and then enjoy walking around Green Lake, but I wouldnt go there JUST for the dog park. There were maybe 3 other dogs there the whole time I was.
Always fun to go. Got a membership and now don’t need to worry on paying to get in
Can do a little bit of everything here...it is a huge sports complex, but also relax place just feet from three well known green lake, it is the cities largest picnic site
An oasis of calm in the city, a great place to run the dogs !!
Very big. Lots of space to explore for kids and adults. Good environment
Great Woodlands & a dog park, as well! Might play a little golf here at the short course, this Spring!
I love Woodland Park! Great place to picnic, BBQ,, hike, fly kites, bike, tennis, or just relax. Plenty of free parking too.
This zoo is spectacular. Kudos to the the designers for so many natural areas for the animals!
Huge park with great trails, tennis courts, fields, off leash area, lawn bowling picnic tables, picnic shelters, and more ... like Green Lake.
Cool large park in the middle of town. Nice BMX park.
Great area to walk around, look at animals and take pictures to capture the moment.
