Went for a school trip which was informative and enjoyable. We got a limited tour because of the age of the students so I didnt get to see everything. The guide had a theme dealing with Teeth and How Color makes us Feel. Even as an adult I learned a lot. I really appreciated seeing artwork from local people and artwork inspired by local events such as the coal breakers and mining industry. I do think the taxidermy room needs updating. The animals are very old and they are showing their wear. Im not sure if tours are provided during regular times. I believe it is self guided. The grounds are beautiful here and I look forward to coming back in the spring.

This is a great place. It has a small natural history section and a less small fine arts section. Well worth the low admission price and theres a lovely park next to it!

For a museum its a shame that this place preaches voodoo over science and is complicit in ruining lives instead of educating our children. 100 years of science isnt trumped by politics. Just following orders isnt an excuse when the orders are responsible lives lost.

I have been to the Geisinger hospital several times now and I never knew the museum was so close! A serene oasis from the big city, the Everhart museum is tucked into nature and provides patrons a quiet place to come with a child friendly atmosphere. The personnel at the museum are courteous and caring and always striving for a better experience for their patrons. My family had a wonderful experience here! We look forward to coming back when our child is a little older and can appreciate it.

I took all four of my kids and they enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits. It was great to be able to explore pieces from our area along with pieces from all over the world. The animal exhibits, rock exhibit, and dinosaur exhibit were favorites.

Im only giving it two stars because there werent but two exhibits due to construction. If I had called ahead of time and known about the work, I would have waited to visit. Ill go again in a couple of months when they said the work would be completed and they would have more exhibits because it use to be very good for a small museum.

Love the Everhart. It has, both nostalgia for me (w/ some of the old exhibits I remember), and the newer art exhibits were worth the trip alone

Love the bird room since I was a child. We did a community event with a local paranormal investigation team and it was really well put together. Creepy in there with the lights out. Basement has always creeped me out.

Real gem, surprisingly significant natural, historical, and artistic collections

The exhibits, resources, and art displayed at the Everhart Museum truly make it an asset to our community. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I saw and learned about on our visit. However they advertise as being “kid friendly” and maybe it was just my experience with a certain individual that made the visit completely uncomfortable for me. I arrived with my 5 and 2 year old, having already spoken to them about the behavior I expected. My two year old does not speak yet, but he was making an excited giggling noise. The young gentleman at the front desk immediately told me I had to keep my children quiet. To add insult to injury, the museum was entirely empty aside from the three of us, so my children were not allowed to be excited to keep an employee comfortable! We met another employee on the second floor with the artwork who was kind and lovely, but talk about a terrible first impression. I hope that this young man gets some training on appropriate customer service so that no one else is made to feel uncomfortable as I was.

Pretty up-to-date museum. Theyre always rotating the exhibits and having events. They could do more with publicity, for even though I live in town and am genuinely interested in their efforts, I dont know what they have going on most of the time, let alone for the general public.

I wish it had more exhibits it seems the main focus is the art gallery and thats cool but for the younger kids not so much definitely a place for teens and up

The art collection is terrific and the taxidermy & rock collections are amazing for a small town museum. This facility is well-worth a few hours of your time. Kids loved it, too.

Small but has everything you.want to see in any museum. The gift shop was cool too. Give free admission to past military and their guests.

Drove about an hour to visit this museum. We found out when we got there that they were closed for a private event. What a waste of time and gas. They should have put something on their website that they would be closed Saturday August 3rd. We were not the only ones upset by this.

A local treat, perfect for a relaxing weekend excursion.The bird collection is always fascinating, even if some pieces are starting to show their age (100+ years by the way!), and the rotating exhibits bring some interesting pieces that would be difficult to find anywhere else (like the skateboard deck and Haitian voodoo flag displays in the past). Just make sure you wear a hoodie! It gets mighty cold in the bird exhibit.

What an amazing place! We took visiting friends with children here to fill part of the afternoon. We all had a wonderful time and the price cant be beet! The surrounding grounds are beautiful and the park across from the museum has lots more fun things to see and do that will tire even the most out of control children. tree house :)

Beautiful Museum with a large nature exhibit. Very affordable admission price. Family friendly with a gift shop.

Though there were a few exhibits off-limits due to being updated the exhibits that were open are quite lovely. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the gift shop had a little something for everyone. Also the Great Lawn outside of the museum on a nice day is a great place to stroll with the family, with the lovely Koi pond in the front.

Took our 9 yr. Old granddaughter to her first museum. Loved the birds. Nice to have in my back yard.

Beautifully kept. MANY things to enjoy!However, when I caught site of ACTUAL HUMAN remains....I was disillusioned. Why isnt there a PROPER grave site for HUMAN remains?? I dont care that it was an Indian from an indigenous tribe. I would not like to see my ancestors remains kept in a plexiglas case, ESPECIALLY if there were some sort of sign of foul play that was indicative of their treatment at that time. Give that man a proper burial, and resting place, and you get 4 stars. Hail Mary...

A surprisingly wonderful little museum centered in an equally wonderful park. The exhibits were interest and I had never seen such a full collection of taxidermy birds. Definitely a treasure trove!

I like it there.. Wouldve been a better experience if the kids werent too noisy and running around and touching everything.. Well theyre kids so.. Yeah.. But the glass exhibit was great!

A wonderful addition to the Scranton area. The past few exhibits have been well-curated and interesting. I have been enjoying the Everhart after dark events as well as the summer events out on the lawn. Keep it up!

They had a lot of the museum blocked off because they were redoing them, the portions they had open were pretty cool.

So lucky to have such a wonderful staff curating fun and thoughtful exhibits in the rotating galleries. Also do so much to partner with local community and agencies and involve children. Great place to take visitors to Scranton.

To be honest Im always disappointed when I come here. My nieces wanted to go and luckily for me I just happen to hit on a day it was free or Id have been angry about having to pay entry into what turned out to be the same bird collection theyve had forever, one dinosaur, some rocks, and upon entering upstairs finding out there was nothing nada zilch.

Is a small Museum but very interesting and they have some halls with different exhibitions all seasons.

Great displays. Always have fun going there. Very educational.

The Everhart is a fascinating but somewhat forgotten museum, with collections ranging from mineral specimens, Warhols, African Instruments, stuffed and mounted ducks, funerary wreaths, Dinosaur specimens, local childrens art, pieces of Americana, glassworks, and bronze coins. Every corner hosts something different, and the collections, especially the storage room, do not fail to amaze.

Nice museum but under renovation. Second floor isnt worth the walk up the stairs! Main room has a construction tunnel you must pass through to get to right and left display rooms. These display rooms off the big main room on second floor are SMALL! SHAME because the main floor is so nice and loaded with pieces you have no choice but to imagine the second floor! This renovation has been ongoing since Nov and seems not to have progressed AT ALL!! Maybe funding issues! If you get know youll get HALF the tour at the SAME undiscounted price!

Great Sunday afternoon outing

We shared our treasured experiences with our future daughter- in-law and grandchildren by taking them to the museum ; they too, had an enjoyable time .

Great small museum. Paintings by artists Ive not heard of but wonderful. Beautiful glassware exihibits too.

The Everhart Museum collection is small but quaintly eclectic. Their bird collection is second to none and their special exhibitions are constantly changing and are very creative. The nice thing is that you can enjoy the peace and quiet of a museum setting without big city crowds or people pushing and shoving or making noise. The Museum is clean, peaceful, serene, sober, family-friendly, and even has a gift shop and childrens corner where toddlers can play. The Museum even has a few surprises like the mummified remains of a cat. Their is a smattering of American folk art, African art, ancient sculpture and art and nineteenth-century American and Pennsylvania art. It is just enough to wet your appetite without overwhelming the senses.

My grandson attended junior cooking camp....no hitches, he loved it!

Highly recommend visiting this museum.Lots of exhibits.

Cool place, chill atmosphere and lots of awesome exhibits always changing to keep things interesting. Their Dinosaur bones display are an old time favorite of mine :)
