This is a very nice place place. Its not a large museum but very informative. If you are in the area definitely stop. The steam town train museum is right across the parking lot. If you are there check out the trolleys. There is also an electric trolley ride. That was not running on the day we were there. Perhaps that will make this a 5 star review. We will see.
Really a nice display if electrical stuff. There is also a 45 minute trolley ride which takes through scranton town.
It was an absolutely wonderful experience we got to ride on the trolley and look around the museum. Is something that should not be missed while youre in Scranton. Highly highly recommended and The Price is Right 2
Very reasonably priced, especially if you use a Groupon. The Trolley Museum itself is small, but they offer a ride on an electric trolley (which is on an actual track). Nice scenic ride that takes you up to a baseball stadium, before turning around. During the ride, you get to see a small waterfall and go through a long dark tunnel, kind of neat. As the trolley is almost 90 years old, it does not have A/C so it relies on open windows.
Very nice to visit. People are nice. Well done exhibit.
Great gift shop. And interesting film. Take the trolley ride, it is worth it!
Cozy museum. I learned historic aspects why Scranton is called as the Electric City.
We were actually in steamtown railroad museum. But both are very good.
You can ride an old time trolley and see other antique trolleys.
Very interesting and absolutely loved the trolley ride!
Great place. Nice trolley ride. Informative. Dont listen to the review about money for the space. Its to restore history and to keep it alive. It helps pay the upkeep on the rails. The electricity for the trolley. The salary for the employees. The upkeep of the buildings. Its not expensive at all. They also have bells your kids can ring. Trolleys they can role play on. Puzzles for them too. Its worth the visit.
Interesting trolley museum/ride in Scranton,PA. Well done museum, small but interesting. Has exhibits on how trolleys impacted local area. Also has exhibits on how power was distributed to run trolley cars. The ride is about 25 minutes each way, is scenic and twisty. Good stop if already at Steam Town park.
Very cool place. Have to try the trolley.
The food was excellent, service awesome!!
Very cool history in the Museum. Always a pleasure to go and check everything out.
I love trains and trolleys from around the area. And this is beautiful and very informative.
Made it just in time for their last ride of the day. Very attentive staff and the conductor was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ride is about 50mins long and the seats are comfy. At the end of the ride theres a small room where one can see how the trolleys are restored and artifacts. Theres a museum with history on the electric trolleys but didnt get to check it out this time. Worth it and looking forward to visiting again.
You Will Love the Museum and the Old restored Trolleys! Riding these old Trolleys will definitely be you Back in Time when Trolley Cars was a way to get from point A to Point B! Without polluting the air! They were eco-friendly! The Gift Shop is Great too! You can buy Beautiful souvenir at a Great Price!!!!
Great place. Nice trolley ride. Informative.
Trolley ride is fun, but Im not sure Id go to the museum again. Steamtown across the street is a great option.
Phenomenal museum and staff. Exhibits really showed the history and evolution of trolleys!
Excellent place to attend a birthday party. We went on the Santa Trolley ride to PNC Stadium and sang Christmas Carols on the way back.
After several hours visiting steamtown National Historic Site the trolley museum was a bit underwhelming. They have 3-4 refurbished electric trolleys and a few placards describing the acquisition and refurbishment of one of the trolleys. And an large play room for kids between the ages of 2-8. Its not a bad little museum and they do take a lot of pride in it, but there is not much to see.
Paid $11.00 for 2 passes to museum (one senior, one adult), there was no trolley ride available. It took us 30 minutes to walk through the museum.
Such a cool part of History
Its alittle overpriced for its offerings. Youre really paying to get into a really qel km themed gift shop. That being said my 2 year old had a great time climbing on the trollies and playing in the activity room. Also it had some really cool artifacts from the electric car hay day.
This is a fine museum and there are some interesting exhibits, specifically the close look at how the trolleys were powered and a cut-away that shows the drive system in a restored trolley. That said, its fairly small for how much it costs to get in. It also seemed like there were many exhibits that simply werent up to par with the rest of the museum, to the point that some cases didnt even have labels to explain what was inside of them.Still very much worth stopping in and checking out, especially if youre already going to Steamtown which shares a parking lot with the Trolley Museum.
Nice to visit and I the people that work their are very nice
I love trains old ones
Well priced and tons to do there for all age ranges. The gift shop had reasonably priced products for sale as well. We enjoyed our visit and would love to return soon.
Train tour and train ride was first rate! Knowledgeable guides!
With few resources, this place is fantastic for trolley lovers.
A great way to spend a few hours in Scranton.
For being a paid attraction it was disappointing. Many of the displays and activity areas were broken or not operational. Only a few of the nearly 10 trolleys could be boarded and many were used as storage for seasonal decorations and boxes of what seemed to be paperwork.
Had a blast here with my son!
The trolley ride was almost an hour thru parts of scranton and Montague mountain we have never seen. Mostly trees which we plan another trip in the fall for leaf peaking. The staff were very friendly and answered all our questions. We even went to the museum which had different trolleys you can walk thru.
Staff were informative, attentive and helpful. The museum was well organized, clean and had nice, readable signage.
A bit small for the price, but overall good experience.
Always a great time... Great artists and fun fun fun for everyone.
Went today with co-workers to buy gifts from the gift shop. We arrived at 345pm knowing that they close at 4pm. We found the doors locked and when an employee opened the door he was adamant that he would not take care of us. When asked why he said that we do not close at 4pm we LEAVE at 4pm. He continued to tell us the cash registers were already locked and he said to come back in the morning. Is it any wonder why Scranton is broke when its own employees refuse to make a sale. SMH
This was the best moment for me. Getting to be inside a piece of our history was freaking amazing. Seeing how they dressed back then...to someone in the present day stepping inside a classic trolley is surreal to me. My experience here was extraordinary and I will return again with my father.
Nice place to visit for train history
Just a awesome place to learn about things.
Great staff! Fun day trip, and inexpensive. Great for little ones of all ages.
Great museum for trolley aficionados! Best part is the trolley ride. Makes a nice full-day outing when combined with Steamtown.
Im giving 3 stars I guess you have to pay to get in and see so do t know if its good or bad. Is not part of the national historic park at steamtown...
Great museum and the staff was great. Enjoyed the train ride.
Fun museum and my son LOVED the trolley ride
Great history, lots of trollies to use in photo ops and of course, the John Oliver train set!
This place is a must see part of Scrantons history. I would recommend taking a ride on the Steamtown Train or take the trolley up to the mountain one afternoon. Fall colors are spectacular !
Nostalgic and historical setting, personable staff members, and the clean location.
Very cool trolley museum. On the same property a Steamtown train museum. Offers train and trolley rides along the old railway.
I recommended this trolley ride over the train tour. It is cheaper and also a much more enjoyable ride.
Nice trolley ride
Loved the trains and the trian ride is only $5.
Very interesting. Great play area for kids
Small little store with interesting items. Liked the trolley inside the store.
Best trolley museum I have ever been too, very scenic and pretty trolley ride, do not miss this gem
The price is high. And if you enjoy people racing the train with atv’s and making so much dust it’s like the Wild West, Then on the way back you can see and hear people open fire with guns no more then 15 yards from tracks your on . Garbage all over, it’s like the city gave up, it’s a shame it could be a nice thing to do but not with the gun shots going off . . It’s just terrible. No wildlife or nothing.
I went in 40min before closing time and still enjoyed everything the museum had to offer with no pressure.
We enjoyed the museum. One of the gentlemen working there gave us a lot of information about the trolleys. Great place for adults and children.
Great, really cool place
Great Museum of History of the train industry free good fun
This place is worth every penny. Trolley ride on a 91 y/o trolley just puts it over the top. Both my kids, 4.5y/o girl and 1.5y/o son, had a blast. Now, shes begging to come there again. The museum is small, but the trip will last a couple of hours. But the value you are getting for the price of a ticket, is awesome! Will definitely come there again.
Beautiful museum and greatly detailed
Museum itself is small but ride was great and longer than expected. Friendly staff. Knowledgsble guide. Some trash along the path of ride which could use a clean up.
Kids are going to love it. The collection of trolleys is worth it for an trolley fan. And fans of Jon Oliver will enjoy it as well.
Always fun to ride the trolley. Kids love it.
Very interesting trolleys on display. We thoroughly enjoyed our time. Only reason it does not receive a 5-star rating is because it cost $6 for adults to see the museum, which I felt might have been a little more than one expected.
A must-visit: you will learn interesting historical things that would otherwise be secrets about your neighborhood.
Fun place to visit and buy gifts. Many trains to view close up.
Great little museum with great prices? We will definitely be back. The trolley ride was amazing.
Good price lots of fun
Nice place to visit and go for a trolley ride
Love the trolley ride!
Wonderful place! Be sure to check out the Backyard Train from John Oliver!
Wonderful history lesson about trolleys in America & how influential they were on building of cities & baseball parks !
Great museum with a lot of interesting stuff for all ages. I definitely recommend the trolley ride if its being run in the day youre there!
As far as trolleys go this may be the only Museum of its kind for a long long ways. Run by the county it is a great place for kids to learn a lot of Tralee history around the country and especially here in Scranton. Bring the kids bring the entire School and have a fun time learning about trolleys, more than you ever wanted to know and books to back it up in the book store as well.
Fascinating history..fun ride
Staff is friendly and reasonable prices
Its fairly small but at least they have a place to visit before taking the trolley ride.
Great place to enjoy yourself
Highly recommend visiting. Very informative. Lots of history.
Great place for kids and adults.
So much history! We had a great time!
Got a groupon and so worth the money. the trolly ride is 10 miles long and goes through a mile long tunnel and through the woods.
Enjoyable museum with old restored trolleys to climb in, old electrical equipment, model train installation, children play room.
