After arriving, we went up to the balcony level and were shown exactly where our seats were located. The chairs were comfortable, but a little close to the row in front of us. Taller people will likely not be super comfortable as I had to make a conscious effort to keep from hitting the seat in front of me - and Im only 57.The stage was easy to see with no obstructions, but a taller person sat in front of me which did force me to have to lean on occasion. Again, Im pretty short so take this with a grain of salt. The wife said the bathrooms were easy to get to and well-kept, so that was a bonus.Parking was easy since we arrived early and were able to get a spot in the Liberty Street garage across the street. Couldnt be any easier than that. All in all I would return here, but would consider seats on the lower level if possible because they might have more leg room. I dont know for sure, but itd be worth a shot.
The folks who were there are very kindly, but the food and drink are subpar at best and overpriced. Parking was limited in space and can also be costly, both depending how early you arrive. The restroom arrangement is also a bit of an inconvenience, with the genders being separated from one side of the building to the other (at least, the ones I found). And its so packed in the main hall before entering to find your seat or when leaving out the door when an event is over! You can very easily lose site of your entourage, especially children, so keep that in mind when going to see a show.
Nice arena. Getting out of the seats is a little time consuming but not unexpected. Temperature seemed comfortable. Seats are nice. Pricing of beverages is a little high in my opinion. But not the worst Ive had to deal with. Overall a good experience.
The lady that helped me was popping that gum like it was going out of style. There was a man in front of me that she was interacting with. But when it was my turn she was on mute no smile or anything. Asked her a question about the seating and she said the prices depends on what seat I wanted ( I knew that already). I just wish she was more helpful like she was with the customer before me. She also showed him the computer to give him the idea for good seats.
We saw Chris Tucker hereIts a little tight getting in and out of seats but we had a great time and the ushers were helpful
Philharmonic show this year *so* disappointing. Orchestra and chorus - awesome, as usual. Guest conductor - meh. Guest (read: egomaniac) vocalist: great ranges and talented but clueless, should *never* ever *ever* again song with a microphone. Destroyed a holiday tradition. Hope for better next year.
Its great! Nice venue for a concert. Decent acoustics and easy to see the stage from almost anywhere in the theatre.
Saw the Fab Four there on Sunday and seeing Willie Nelson there tonight! An intimate mid-sized venue with good sound.
We went to see Jeff Dunham at Johnny Mercer theater. Enjoyed the show! The seats are uncomfortable and so old that you sink into them which makes it hard to see past the head of the person in front of you. The sound was good and there is a big screen. Parking for the event for handicapped is terrible!
Great venue great seats good parking right outside the doors. You can go in and outside during the show. Good bar restaurant just down the street CRYSTALS is a go to bar before and after. We’ll be back
Had a great time. Plenty more events should consider coming.
They supposedly stop serving all food and drink 30 minutes prior to the concert ending. They shut everything down at the Scotty McCreery concert on his 3 song.....1hr and 30 minutes prior to it ending. Couldnt even purchase a water!!!!
Nice theater.Saw a Russian / Ukranian ballet perform Romeo and Juliet. Not a bad seat in the theater.
Great place for all types of entertainment. Multiple activities etc.
Great show weird audience. People kept arriving up to half an hour after the show started. During the show many people treated it as happy hour and not a show to be viewed
Saw BlackBerry Smoke in concert with The Record Company headlining and it was GREAT. The security procedures made me feel very safe, only complaint I have is it could be a little cooler inside!
The theatre is beautiful. It is located very conveniently near a lot of affordable hotels for out of towners. We have seen the Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me taping in the theatre over the weekend. We were very disappointed with the sound quality of the theatre. We were seated in the left-orchestra section (F 6&7), and a hard time separating the actual speaker from the echo.
The Mannheim Steamroller performance was awesome. I hope they decide to return to Savannah next year, but Johnny Mercer theater is dated and really showing its age!
Just attended Christmas Pops Concert. Great performance! Featured the Savannah Philharmonic, the Savannah Childrens Chorus, several outstanding music students from the Savannah Arts Academy and one fantastic young soprano from Savannah. Good interaction with the audience. Good selection of music. Plus, the man who wrote Youre a Mean One, Mr Grinch was in the audience, as some of his new music was premiered. Good show! Happy kids, happy adults!
Willie and Family never fail to entertain. Loved the show
The show to ight was the Fab Four, had lots of fun.
Someone who works concessions unplugged the soda vending machine because the cokes were cheaper. And of course there is no waiting for the machine during the 20 minutes intermission which is why I always use it. The line for the vendors is longer than intermission and costs more money.
Not a bad seat in the place, seriously. But center up through J,K,L is the best. If orchestra is available, you might want to consider the crick in the neck factor, because you are literally right under the stage, looking up the whole time. But, I walked the place and not a bad view anywhere. I would suggest parking either in a garage down the street or on the street somewhere close. The parking lot fills up fast and there is only one lane and one lane out and about a dozen handicap spots that fill up quicker.
Had a great time! However narrow isles made leaving very difficult
Beautiful venue: Within walking distance of our rental and best of all, I got to see Vince Gill there as a birthday gift from my daughter and bonus son.
Great venue, saw ron white sound system could of been a bit better
Great show saw Ron White (Tater Salad)
Supported our church Fall Festival. A great and safe place for kids to participate.
Mayoral Inauguration was so anointed...his presence was in the house
1st timer. Older venue but still great Doobie Bros concert.
I went to my sisters graduation and of course it was a very joyous celebration.
Was just an amazing experience. The Christmas show was beautiful, and it is so nice to see places like this still thriving. I love that my children got to have toys Christmas memory with such a beautiful theatre and charming cast.
Show was excellent, seating is tight, security could be a little friendlier.
Building is a bit dated. Show was good.
Fine time! Hope a replacement venue can be had when the Gwinnett Arena is built.
Went for a graduation n it was very nice.
Very nice concert venue. Not a bad seat and a nice variety of shows. Right in the historical downtown Savannah district, easy access to highways and great restaurants.
I was there for a college graduation. Its old and will be demolished in the near future. It was a good venue for a concert or play, The city is supposed to be building a new structure.
Always a good time reat shows good parking
Great theater! Really long bar lines...
Great place for a show or concert. Make sure you plan your seating in advance to get best view and choice. Parking lot on property gets filled up early but there is a garage accross the street and also some on street parking within walking distance of it.
Always nice to see a good performance, make sure to have cash to pay for parking.
Went to see Brothers Osbourne at the Johnny Mercer. The venue was a nice size but still offered a somewhat intimate setting. Concert was great and everything went smoothly at the theater allowing us to have a very enjoyable evening.
Great place to watch a concert or play. Excellent acoustics.
Easy for handicapped people to enter. Love the history. Ive been there for shows, school graduations, recitals and competitions.
Allison Krauss was awesome. Ready for an update venue.
Great place to see a show. Its a shame the city has decided to tear it down soon.
We saw Lindsey Stirling in concert and she was excellent, however, the theater is in dire need of renovations! There are many very unsafe situations, like railings not being secured, unsafe stairs in the auditorium, too many possibilities for people to get hurt. I am partially disabled and I almost tripped, slid, or fell numerous times before I got to my seat. There was only one elevator running and it was on the complete other side of the building from where we entered.
The Doobie Brothers were amazing!
Great concert but some people got in a fight in front of us and staff did nothing about it. When you pay a good bit for good seats, it would be nice if they controlled the crowd a little more so you can see the concert. Keep having this problem at Johnny Mercer Theater.
Though it is spacious the staff rushed us out each night of our event. Restrooms were a mess the whole week. Food options were limited and not healthy, no outside food allowed.
Doobie Brothers rocked. Not a bad seat in the house, unless youre 48 had a great time anyway!
My visit to the Johnny Mercer Theater was very nice. I attended the Savannah Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Chorus for their Holiday Pop concert and it was fantastic. The sound in the theatre was very good and the theater looks good.
Really great theater! All seats seemed to be decent (including the balcony, where we sat!). Parking was a bit of a mess. Seemed the theater lot held about 10 cars which means you are on your own for parking, which everyone knows in Savannah can be tricky!!! The extremely long bathroom lines went quickly as did the snack line! Bathrooms were clean and neat. Snack bar took cash and credit. Tons of security (be prepared to walk thru a metal detector and have your bag searched) which were very helpful and pleasant! Looking forward to visiting again soon.
The staff and bands were excellent. The building and seating was not good.
Nice, clean theater. Good accoustics and direct line of sight viewing to the stage. It was a little warm, but that is to be expected with a packed house for the Joe Bonamassa concert.
Great place all seats are good with great views of the stage
This was a special time for me. I got to walk the stage to receive my Bachelors degree. God is so good!!
Very nice cozy venue the sound was perfect making the Britt Floyd show we went to awesome if your music favs come here you must attend
Great place for great musicians and musicGood location
We Come here Annually for Our Easter Service..The Theater is always clean and Plenty of Free Parking!
Its a wonderful place to have conventions!!
Cool location. Was there for my daughters national dance competition.
Watched a Russian ballet troupe do Swan Lake. The sound and stage was almost flawless. Performances were great, especially the leading lady and the jester. #culture
Very nice environment. Heavy security. Felt safe in such a large crowd. The host that they had seating you were very nice and knowledgeable of there job.
Had a great time.
Wonderful performance by Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chorus, and the unbelievably talented folks from the Savannah Theatre. And all-around exciting performance.
Love how it is in Savannahs historic district. Walking distance from many great restaurants and shopping.
Just went to see Diana Ross last night...She was fabulous!!! However, I was amazed that the ushers allowed people to stand all over the place...many people came out of their seats to stand in the aisles and video the concert with their phones...which of course blocked the view for the rest of us...the ushers should have made people go back to their seats!!!
Always a great place to come! Savannah holds concerts, plays and many events at the Civic Center.
It held an enjoyable concert!
It was great I loved every minute I was there,
Thank for ruining what should have been a great night. My husband and I purchased VIP tickets for John Cusack (great show btw!) and were instructed to stay in our seats after the show until everyone left. Then the supervisor of Inland Security Services tells us to get up and move to another section. Meanwhile a huge line of people who were not VIP ticket holders are now in line and we are forced to wait almost an hour to meet him. Then when we finally do get close enough to see the door we are harassed by a woman from the civic center telling us we needed to wait until the line we were merging into had finished. Terrinle, terrible way to end the night. Shame on them for wanting to make the almighty buck instead of letting ticket holders have a nice night out.
It was the greatest show Ive seen in a while!!!
Still very nice.
Great show,nice staff,drinks priced ridiculously high,other than that,go c a show
Very nice.. Handicapped friendly.. Process for drinks was crazy high
Nice environment, went there for a blues festival
The Jersey Boys show was excellent. My wife and I were amazed. Theater is great.
Great staff, great venue! Cant wait till next year!
Large-ish theater and concert venue in downtown Savannah near hotels and quaint restaurants. Vocal sounds sadly a bit unintelligible. And the bouncers were spookily diligent enforcing no-standing & no-picture rules. Watching them escort folks away and intimidate others greatly reduced my enjoyment of the concert I spent a lot of money to experience.
Maze was great as usual. And huggie low was funny as hell. It was good to hear miles j again overall a great show.
Saw a great performance of Jersey Boys here! Pretty nice place I would go back to see another show!
Eyesore that needs to go. Still the only place for concerts in Savannah. Hopefully we will get a better place outside of the historic district and this place can be demolished and the town plan restored
The theater is old but super well preserved.Great acoustics too
