This has become one of our families frequent stops while passing through Santa Rosa. The museum is well maintained and the various displays and activities are very engaging. There are both indoor and outdoor activities, and both areas have ample seating for parents. Classes and guided activities also happen on a weekly basis. The entire establishment (restrooms included) is clean, the staff are friendly, and there are vending machines where drinks and snacks can be purchased. This childrens museum is a great way to spend a few hours!

We enjoyed this Children’s museum! Lots of science, nature, music, art, photography, tree house, trains, real beehive, imagine play with kitchen, puppet theater, dentist office, tools and so much more outside such as a nice little river, helicopter. Wish the prices were more affordable for all. Staff were nice. Picnic tables at the outdoor area. Bathrooms inside and outside, I liked that they had extra clothing inside bathrooms if children get wet or has an accident.

They have a huge outside area as well. They have story time every now and then. Toddler area is really awesome! Admission is 15 per person ( including my 2 year old!) they have an annual membership for $170 too.

My family LOVES going here. It is by far one of the top places to visit with kids. Its most fun in the summer when the outdoor area is accessible, but even during the rainy season, they have a lot to keep little ones entertained. Awesome place. There is something new to see and play with on every visit. I would recommend waterproof shoes and a change of clothes for playing in the water. There seems to be a preponderance of parents engaged with their phones instead of their children, so I recommend vigilance to overcome those disinclined to share nicely.Overall it is a wonderful place and the children always have a great time. My whole family loves it here. There are enough things to do to keep my 9 and 5 yr old nephews and my 3 yr old daughter busy the whole time we are there. I always bring a towel and change of clothes, because my daughter is going to get soaked in the water play area. They do a good job of making their events accessible for children of all ages. When we were there they did a science experiment that my 3 yr old enjoyed and interacted with as much as the 9 yr old.

My two great nephews age five and age two were beyond delighted with the exciting array of hands on and interactive educational displays that this museum has put together under one roof. The boys were delighted with the train exhibits, the play kitchen where they could simulate creating meals using an oven plating and presenting us with the play food. Another favorite was playing dentist with an alligator for a patient and brushing the alligators teeth was another special event. We spent several fun filled hours being informed and entertained at the same time. Eventually we wandered outside and were amazed by the play mats and beautiful collage of outdoor equipment in an eco-friendly green space. I highly recommend this place for younger kids. The museum suggests ten years and younger but my perception was that ten year olds might benefit from a more challenging environment.

This is a magical and exciting place! It is best for the toddler to age 9 set, although kids of all ages (including kids at heart) will enjoy spending time here. It is a great place to take your little ones, whether you are meeting up with friends or going it alone. There are so many things for the kids to do that they will probably fall asleep on the way home, tuckered out from all of the exploring theyve done. The indoor part of the museum has two levels to explore. There is a model train that runs steadily along tracks which are mounted along the walls of the museum. The upper level has a train station with a small train booth, ticket counter and a train station with a plexiglass window where you can wait and watch as the train makes a stop there before heading off again. There are many fun and interactive displays throughout both the upper and lower levels. If you go, be sure and visit the bee room, where you can view the museums busy hive and learn about pollinators. Then venture outdoors and play at the water tables, catch a (pretend) fish in the Russian River, tour the museums garden and climb into the dragonfly helicopter. Follow the pathway to Ellas art studio where you can do some window painting and participate in an art project. There is a small vending machine outside with healthy snacks, a water filling station inside (so bring your water bottle) and picnic tables where you can sit and eat a home packed lunch. There are also restaurants and a Whole Foods market nearby and an In-n-out Burger thats a short drive away. Please note that the museum is closed to the public on Tuesdays.

Great place to take the kids when in the Santa Rosa area!Weve taken our son to numerous childrens discovery museums and this is one of the nicest and coolest. While a bit smaller, it is jammed with interesting activities for children. They have a great network of pneumatic piping with flow controls for kids to play with and watch the results of a string ball as it flows through. Theres a nice little bubble play area. A ton of train related activities and all sorts of small things to do inside.Outside, they have a full-sized helicopter for the kids to pretend to fly around. A watershed learning area. And something I loved, a garden area where you can pick and eat items!Anyway, the place/grounds was well maintained and provided a lot of learning opportunities in an entertaining fashion. Easily the best childrens museum weve ever been to. Our 14 month old loves the outdoor water activities and the dedicated toddler area (no big kids allowed!). The attention to detail and variety of special rooms there is fantastic - theres a doctors office, kitchen, a variety of train activities, and so much more! The only downside is that during busy times weve witnessed some unsupervised older children being disrespectful. Parents really should not be leaving their children unattended, but some clearly do. When weve gone during the week day, this hasnt been a problem at all.
