Charles M Schulz Museum is totally worth a visit if you are a fan of the adorable Snoopy, Charles Brown and their friends. It took us about 1.5 hours drive which was quite bad from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. There were also some famous “farm-to-table” restaurants that you should plan to visit at the same trip. The admission is $12 for adults and tickets for seniors and students are also available. We were there for about 2 hours including watching a short Peanuts movie. The exhibition is great with interesting information like the history, manuscript and vintage merchandise. Visitors can take lots of photos with character statues standing around the museum. The souvenir store is amazing as well with a variety of products and the most memorable part for me was they had a collaboration T-shirt from other countries including my hometown Taiwan.
Lovely place to visit to learn about Charles Schulzs life and his creation. Visiting this museum gives me a deeper understanding and appreciation of his creativity and patience in producing these lovable comic strips. There is a nice mural made purely of comic tiles which is remarkable and the replica of his workspace on the second floor is neat. Theres also an ice cream shop and cafe across the road. Oh and I recommend watching the short video on the first floor which tells you more about Charles life. Worth spending up to a couple of hours here and the volunteers are super friendly and love their jobs.
Fun and relaxing museum with your favour Peanuts characters. Great place for adults and children. Activity room to do colouring and test your drawing skill. Lots photo opportunities to capture moments with your favorite.
I grew up ice skating here and theres so much I never knew about Charles and his family. My mom used to ice skate with his daughter and I thought I learned a bunch from her. But I was wrong! This museum is very well put together. I love that they kept his office exactly as it was when he was alive and creating. What a wonderful gift from the Schulz family for all to feel apart of it. Its a must see if your local or visiting.
Great Place, very calm but also very interesting. One of the few museums where we actually did not get bored. Its very interactive for both kids and adults. They have a theater to show some episodes and certain Documentaries about Peanuts. Awesome place and their admissions is fairly priced. Also, many laughs were heard throughout the museum, the strips bring that much Joy.
This complex is one part museum and one part tribute to Charles Schulz. Overall, it does both fairly well. Its hard not to love a place with Snoopy and Charlie Brown everywhere you look. Instead of a tree, they have a Kite Eating Tree. Whats not to love?! The exhibits inside the museum are informative about the beginnings of Peanuts, and they do give a nod to other comics as well, though to be sure, the emphasis is on Peanuts. Its well worth the time and nominal entrance fee. Slap on a crookedly drawn smile and enjoy.
Amazing place to bath urself into the world of Snoopy.
Beautiful museum housing the largest collection of Peanuts artwork created by famous cartoonist Charles Schulz. The facilities are filled with light and history, a memory trip to the home of Charlie Brown and his beloved group of friends. The knowledgeable volunteer docents are helpful and friendly, they are great hosts in the home of Charlie and Snoopy. The Ice Rink and the Cafe are awesome, great place to meet with family and friends! #LetsGuide love(:
A lovely museum with friendly staffs! Although I am not a big Snoopy fan, I still have a great time here : )
I was pleasantly surprised at how well done this museum is! It was beautifully laid out, and very kid-friendly, with several hands-on exhibits and an auditorium showing familiar Peanuts features continuously. I visited alone, but I will definitely be back with my kiddos!
My 6 and 8 year old daughters loved this place as much as my husband and I! Learned so much and amazed by the simplicity of the museum and how it appeals to young and old. My kids loved making their own Peanuts comics and my husband and I enjoyed learning about the creator of Peanuts and his life.
Highly recommended! A fantastic, wonderfully welcoming museum for Peanuts game and curious onlookers alike. Its heaven for people who love Snoopy, Charlie Brown, et al, but its also great for visitors who may know nothing about Charles Schulz or his work in comic strips. Kids off all ages will enjoy a visit to this place. Dont forget to visit the Warm Puppy Cafe/ice rink next door. Well worth the drive from San Francisco!!
A happy place to visit for family of all ages. Friendly volunteers that would stick with you and give you a tour. Great content and exhibition in the museum.
Still one of my favorite museums and it reminds me of my childhood! Thank you Charles M. Schulz and the people who brought this museum to life.
Really great place to visit. The kids, my husband and I all had an enjoyable time. There are lots of places to sit and relax. Theres a lot to see and do while youre here. We enjoyed the outside garden and spent so many times Reminiscing on comics that we read when we were younger. :-)
Excellent - not only for Snoopy fans but for anyone that wants a history on comics and the influence that Charles Schulz had on the industry. The Museum is staff by friendly staff and theres tons of presentations and comic strips all throughout. Make sure you spend time at the theater.Admission here is cheap ($12.00 for adults) and well worth it and shaded parking is free. Facilities is clean. One note is they have a small souvenir shop but for the true Snoopy experience walk across the street to their big gift shop.
Good but i was given no peanuts
The staff here are amazing! We are local and brought our family visiting from Arizona to the museum. It was 15 mins before their closing time, and the ticket check employee let us in without charging us. After a quick visit and family photo shooting ( the staff helped us with the group photo as well), we left the museum and found my sister-in-law’s purse was left on the bench while taking photos. They had to leave early the next morning, so we drove back to try our luck, and how lucky we were! Three of the staff and volunteers were waiting for us in the parking lot, and it was half an hour later after the closing time. I was so touched and grateful! What great people!
Love this place. Go on the free tour! You can learn a lot of interesting facts about Peanuts.
I love it here for $12 and self guided tour. Read some of the comics strip on the display case and the history of the creator. Bring back some of the memory of the strip back in the day.
Neat little museum thats a nice tribute to one of the most beloved comic artists of our time. Enough activities to amuse kids and some history and insights for adults. Good if youre a fan of the strip.
Charming little museum if youre in Santa Rosa and want to learn more about the man, the legend, the creator of Peanuts. We showed up early on a Sunday morning and were able to have the whole museum basically to ourselves, which is nice!THE OVERVIEW.+ Ample amount of onsite, shaded parking+ Small gift shop available with unique Peanuts-themed items+ Beautiful art displays and interior design of the building (would be a beautiful event venue)+ Detailed and organized collection of past comic strips, Sparky artifacts, and more+ Fascinating look at the life story of Sparky and how Peanuts came to beNot necessarily a place Id go to again, but a wonderful one-time experience.
This place is amazing brings back great memories.
Must visit if you are in Santa Rosa. Who doesnt like Snoopy and the Peanuts gang? The museum is staffed by great volunteers and they know everything about Peanuts and Charles M. Schulz.
The museum is great, really enjoyed reading all about C.M.Schultz. The cafe is good for a quick snack, and the gift shop has some very beautiful collectables on display.
I felt like a kid again! Enjoyed my time here, remembering and reading all the Peanut strips. Talking with the caretakers of the museum such great stories of Mr. Schulz and to see where he made magic behind the wooden table and his compty chair... so cool!! Everyone is helpful and buy something at the gift shop it helps the museum. Free parking across the street.
This is a great little place to go if youre in town and want to have a little laugh. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. Lots of really cool stuff are on display. Old merchandise, doodlings, and of course, comic strips. Theres also a auditorium where videos about Charles Schulzs life are playing. Theres a replica of his studio, a giant mosaic wall of his comics, its really cool.
Wonderful experience if you are a TRUE Peanuts fan!! Had a terrific time.
What a awesome place to go with the kids!!
Looked promising but family was scared off by all of the signs in the parking lot warning of thefts. Might make sense to hire a guard or at least put in security cameras as I bet we weren’t the first to give this place a pass.
Really nice place to see if your in the area whether you want to spend a few minutes browsing or your whole afternoon, they had tons of comics to read and I loved that fact you could make your own comics and drawings as well. Learned a lot about Charles Schulz, its a shame though his house burned down in the fires taking away some original pieces from the world.
My 3 yr old loved it...so did we
Very sweet place. Loved the special cooking exhibit.
Alex the museums coordinator understands the need for communities to come together and support each other all while keeping the history of Charles Schulz work alive and fun for this and future generations. They are constantly doing appreciation days and donating to less fortunate members of our community. Thank you for everything. Because of you, our community is a better place.
Very cool museum! They also show Charlie Brown movies through the day.
I can’t say I was disappointed, but I can say I thought there would be more. But overall, we weren’t disappointed. It was a beautiful day in Santa Rosa, and we had travelled from Lodi, stopped at the Jelly Belly museum on the way to the Schulz museum. I know or at least heard that there were statues of peanut characters throughout SR, but we weren’t able to go look since we did have to head out to go back home. I’m not sure if there’s a map for the statues, if not, it’d be a great idea to have. Anyway, the museum & ice rink are across from each other. What I really liked about the museum besides all the peanuts art, was that the upstairs had a corner of Sparky’s office. That was the coolest part for me.
Good things do come in small packages great little place to visit. takes you back to being a kid
What a fun place to take the kids! I am a huge cartoon fan and it was nice to be able to show my kids some of the history. Highly recommend this place. What a fund day!
Lots of fun and great for kids. There are so many activities to do such as looking at art, watching the peanuts, and even drawing your own comics. It was a lot of fun and then we went to the gift shop. There were so many good gifts. They had everything from t-shirts to hot dog makers. Everything was fairly priced and the staff was super friendly. I would definitely recommend it especially for families.
THE HAPPIEST PLACE THAT IVE EVER BEEN IN MY LIFE
I had forgotten that the Schulz Museum was in Santa Rosa. So while scheduling a trip to the wine country, we gladly bounced one of the wineries we had on our list and substituted in the museum.Outside, a statue of Charlie Brown greets visitors with two admission tickets in his hand. Theres another one with Snoopy on top of his doghouse. It gets better inside. Theres a huge wall using cartoon strip tiles that when assembled show Charlie Brown running toward the football that Lucy is going to pull away at the last minute. You know thats coming. There are old strips, newer ones, one in color showing Lucy in her psychiatric booth. Help for a nickel. The museum features Schulzs office, including the desk where magic happened. Theres even comic strip tiles inside the bathrooms. No, there really is. And you can tell the mens room because of the stripes made popular from Charlie Browns shirt. Its a wonderful place and one that anyone who has laughed at a comic strip should visit.
Great place to go for adults and kids alike. Staff is always friendly .. and .. then go across the street to the snoopy ice skating rink. It is just a GOOD TIME for all.
A gem in our (
What a great time! Really only went here as an afterthought but after seeing great reviews decided to go. So glad we did! Spent way more time than I thought we would. Ive been a huge Snoopy fan since childhood. George gave a great very knowledgeable tour. Grab a bite at the Snoopy Cafe while watching some ice skating or get out there yourself. Very good gift shop.
Two girlfriends and I were just at the Museum last week. We had a fun, wonderful time and we are in our 60s! The memories, the smiles, the laughter...made us feel young again. I would highly recommend it! Special thanks to Host, Larry!!! He made our time there extra special and even showed us how to make an orgami Snoopy dog house! Thanks again, Larry! You are the best!!!
Friendly staff, cool things for kids, and fun things to look at if you are a Peanuts fan.
The gift shop is definitely worth visiting!
Staying in the town of Santa Rosa in Sonoma California we decided to visit this museum showcasing the life and career of Charles M. Schulz . He lived and worked there for many years prolifically writing and drawing his Peanuts cartoon strips featuring his classic characters such as Charlie Brown and Snoopy .A modern building Very well lyes our with excellent exhibition layout full of brilliantly funny cartoons from throughout Shultz’s career and also, artworks responding to his achievements ( a wooden sculpture, wall mural and a Christo wrapped dog kennel!) . There are also lots of examples of merchandise, memorabilia and personal artefacts, including a reproduction of his office with original items of furniture in it .
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Great vibe and lots of activities for kids. They have a Museum Monday event for children that includes different art projects being set up throughout the museum as well as a free play area. There is also a lovely gated area where kids can run and play with the oversized Charlie Brown and friends statues. Pricing is very affordable, at $5 for a per person and free for accompanying adults on Museum Mondays, of you arrive before 10am.
This is an amazing place filled with Charles Schultz history. When you first arrive you are greeted by a Charlie Brown statue and a little bit later you will come across snoopy taking a nap on his dog house. The museum itself is architecturally beautiful. When you go inside it is even more amazing. There are several fun attractions and shows that you can partake in as well as comics to read and historical displays.Once I checked in with the ladies at the front desk, I was given a map and brief synopsis of what the museum has to offer. Since it was my first trip, they escorted me under the stairs and showed me some peep holes that I could look through with my son to see cartoon scenes. I went down the great hallway and was amazed at the carved wood picture hanging showing the metamorphosis of snoopy. I also took in every metal art piece depicting each character and a quote that signifies their character. Straight ahead was a great mural of two iconic peanuts characters that were comprised of comic strips. Around the corner was a video nook showing a documentary of schultzs life and development of the museum. Behind that was a photo opportunity where you can take a picture with snoopy, equipped with props and all. Upstairs included a view of his office and other mementos.Long story short, this place is amazing and you must see it at least once. They have a craft area for kids where you can color and watch snoopy. Or you can participate in magic tricks and make your own comic strip. They even have head phones for kids who have sensory overload. The outdoors were equally attractive. There is a snoopy labyrinth that seemed like fun. I did not participate because it was hot when I went. They also have a place where you can sit and relax and enjoy water from a kaleidoscope bird bath. Or enjoy the shade from a great redwood with peanuts characters all around it.All in all, it is a great place for kids and adults alike. I read peanuts growing up and had no idea that it was so engrained in American culture. I remember seeing it in MetLife ads but I didnt know it was so active in the NASA programs. It is a fun place for kids and has a little to offset for all. My only complaint is that ir didnt have much to offer in thr gift shop. They had some books and magnets, shirts, dogs and other pigs and ends but it was a small gift shop with limited selection.
If youre a Peanuts fan (or want a trip down memory lane), this is a nice place to spend an hour or so. Kids activities, a free guided tour if you want. We were just looking for a place to spend some time before wine tasting, but were pleasantly surprised by this and spent more time than wed expected.
Extremely well designed, and of course the Peanuts content is fascinating. It’s smaller than the SF Disney Family museum, and more text-heavy, so probably not for preschoolers. The education room (=draw your own art) is kind of plain. Some wonderful places, inside & out, to sit and read or meditate.
Brought the family to the museum but I am the only fan so we only took pictures outside. After that we walked around the surroundings - a Peanuts theme skating rink & gift shop. Being big shoppers, the two girls spent a good 30mins shopping in the gift shop.
I have been a Peanuts fan for most of my life, so I was eager to get to this museum. Its not pretentious at all, and the exhibits are very well done, including Schulzs office. The gift shop is well stocked, if a tad bit kitschy. There also is an ice rink, the Warm Puppy Cafe, where Schulzs table is still reserved, and very nice grounds. Well worth it if youre a Peanuts fan.
Sooo much fun!!! It was amazing to see the world of this creative mind!!
Awesome place.. very well structured and excellent staff

We heard about this museum years before we actually made the trip up. Out in front of the museum are life size figures of Schultzs creation. I was impressed that a museum was built for a cartoon character but for the creator, Im sure it was an honor! The inside was impressive with Schultzs drawings and other works of art throughout the museum. There was also a display of a 50s furniture that he used in one of his comic strips. His comics strips were simple but had a huge effect on millions of followers. The museum was well organized and had a lot of displays depicting Mr. Schultzs life and his cartoon strip of the Peanuts Gang.
My kids love this place. Hidden gems everywhere. Museum, gift shop, and ice skating! Great place to have fun and learn. I highly recommend this place to anyone- any age.
The Charles Schulz museum is a wonderful place to explore, learn, and have fun. It showcases the life of Schulz and his comic, Peanuts. The museum is decorated wall-to-wall with original comics, antique peanuts merchandise, and information. Some areas are also interactive for smaller kids to jump and play on. The museum is quiet small, and can be explored in less then a day. The staff are extremely friendly and show a lot of love and passion for the please they work at.There are three buildings to explore; the main museum (which cost money to get in), the ice rink and puppy cafe, and the large gift shop. Parking is free and the place isnt usually crowded and a great place to explore with plenty of shade and sitting areas.A must go for any lover of comics and cartoons.
If you love Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang you will love this place. From the mosaic Charlie Brown image to the original art work to the hockey drink and gift so its a great place to visit. We arrived before they opened and we were planning on leaving before it opened because had to be somewhere else, when a girl saw us looking through the windows. She opened the door to tell us they were closed but would be opening later. When I told her I knew that, but we would be gone before they opened. She then offered to let us go in for a few minutes. Were shocked, I did not ask nor would I have expected it. But she was so sweet and Im so glad I got to see it. Charlie Brown was such a big part of my childhood, I had tears in my eyes a good portion of my time there. So go out of your way to see this place, its well worth it.
An adorable museum that filled me with so much joy. The special exhibits are always so thought out and bring new insights into such a beloved comic strip. The museum may be small but take your time here, its worth it. Youll be back year after year.
Great place to enjoy the legacy of the peanuts with comics picked by his family. I loved seeing all the character statues and hearing about the history. It also has the Ice ring and the gifts shop nearby so you can delve even deeper into the Peanuts.
Really a neat place! for $75 you can get a family membership for a year! Just fun... mini cartoon movie theatre, some great displays...even a hedge maze in the back!
Excellent spot for family/kids and fans of charlie brown.
I have been taking my daughter to Museum Mondays since she could walk and now I bring both my daughters! We love it! The museum is wonderful and I always enjoy their new exhibits, there is so much more to the Peanuts gang than I had realized.
Delightful. Loved the tile wall artwork masterfully created from Schultzs cartoons. Need to see it to understand. Exceptional tour with behind the scenes bits of Peanuts history. Well worth the stop!
We love this local museum not only for the exhibits but their events. We never miss the early new years Eve party and we just discovered First Fridays movie nights. During winter and early spring they show some of Charles Schulzs favorite movies in the little theater with popcorn and candy. That was one of the most fun theater experiences ever! Also, summer camps that the kids will love.
Nice, interesting museum!
An excellent museum of Schulzs work. Sometimes they try a bit hard to find something interesting related to cartooning, but still very interesting. As others have mentioned, make sure to head over to Snoopys Home Ice for the Snoopy museum and shop and the Ice arena where Charles Schulz indulged his love of hockey.
Love this place good for kids and grownups
A beautiful modern museum filled with Peanut history. I love the comic strip tiles that adorn the walls. My favorite part is the research room-- where one can spend time coloring, drawing or creating. Its just a fun idea that I think all adults could use a time- out and indulge the inner child.
Not flashy. Those with ADD will be done in 15 minutes. For those who can appreciate mastery and genius, four hours is not enough time to browse. What a wonderful place!
A great tribute to a great man. The love is evident in the exhibits as well as the work of the volunteers. It was very cool to see the nursery room wall that Charles Schulz painted for his daughter and that it was shipped in one piece to Santa Rosa. Great for children and adults.
Learn about Snoopy and all of the great things Charles did.
Great museum dedicated to the Peanuts comic strip of Charlie Brown and the Gang.
So much here, and everything is like new; staff are so friendly. My son and I had a lovely visit. Learned a lot about the artist. Glad this was a stop on our CA trip.
Cute museum, come here just for the ice rink and food. They have a cozy fireplace inside their cafe. Free parking.
So much bigger and better than expected! Reasonably priced, something for all ages and a sweet and helpful staff. Could have spent days there!
If you like peanuts or have a small child, this place is worth a visit. They have a lot of knick knacks, but also explanations of the strips and Shultzs life. My kids really liked the art room on the second floor where they could draw and pay with toys. If nothing else, that room is worth it for a rainy day.
When I was Peanuts fan, my favorite character was Snoopy. Snoopy is the good dog and Charlie Browns dog for his home. I think hes so cute and smile and nice and soft. Snoopy is a sweet dog in the whole world.
Wonderful museum. Go at your own pace or with the guide. Dont forget to walk across the street to the Snoopy museum and gift shop. I was very impressed with how much Mr. Schultz did for the area. Plan on at least 3-4 hours.
Lots of fun! You really get to know Charles Schulz and Charlie Brown. We really enjoyed our time there.
Amazing museum; something for everyone. Great cafe and super ice skating rink. Kids and adults will love this.
Great experience definitely worth the time to go there and explore! !
It was very interesting and educational. There were so many things about Cares Schulzs life that I never realized. I used to read the Peanuts comic religiously.
Cute museum. They have some fun kids activities as well. My 3 year old and my his grandparents both enjoyed it.
A fun and friendly place to visit and take the kids. The guides we encountered we a great source of information and told some wonderful stories as well. Lots of things to see and activities for kids. Not a full day experience, but a fun afternoon visit.
Wonderful museum of Peanuts creator. Plenty to enjoy here. You can make a day of it and get some time on the ice in the rink next door.
We had a wonderful time visiting this place. I have watched Charlie brown all my life, now l get to see the museum.
Fun for kids and adults. There were good activities for little ones. The exhibits were near, and I liked learning about Charles Schultz.
Very interesting. Great history lesson. Wonderful informative staff. If you werent a Peanuts fan before....you will be after this.
It was great going to this museum. I recommend it highly. Allow at least 2-3 hrs. Loved the gallery.
A must-visit for all ages! And definitely go on the docent tour! I learned a lot about Charles Sparky Schulz, his whole evolution and of the Peanuts characters that I never knew before.
Unexpected. Very well done museum covering the life of Charles Sparky Schultz. Theres more than Charlie Brown.
A great place for Snoopy/Peanuts lover! Though it is somewhat a small museum, it is worth a visit if you havent been there. As of July 2016, the prices were $12/ticket for an adult and $5/ticket for student/children.
Great if you enjoy peanuts. And they have museum Monday with things setup for younger kids. Very nice and clean
A major disappointment. They failed to capture any of the life, energy and playfulness of the characters. Just a bunch of static displays. Save your money and time.
There is not much to do other than look at cartoons of Charlie Brown. What was cool was looking at the other cartoons Schulz did and his study room were he made them. Also there veteran workers were nice but would tell you useless information, for an example I asked were the elevator was and the nice veteran instead of giving me directions they told me about the garden in the back. There was not alot to do for kids of a certain age.
