We hiked from here to Nambe lake. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the last third of the hike, which follows the creek that flows out of the lake, is not very well-marked. But... it follows the creek, so you cant get too lost.A moderate hike overall, the last third is fairly steep. Not many good vistas along the way but once you get to the lake its spectacular!

Beautiful trail. Lots of choices. I went to nambe lake. Its a tough hike but beautiful with waterfalls toward the top. Friendly people, quite a few hikers but thats good if you are hiking solo!

Excellent place to acclimate, for the hike ahead to Lake Katherine or Santa Fe Baldy. Also excellent cell signal for emergencies if you need to hike down from the trails in a hurry.

Beautiful area with lots of different levels of challenging hikes. Parking was more than accommodating (even on Memorial Day weekend) and the views were incredible. An enjoyable trail up to Big Baldy, though the snow was too thick to hike down to Catherine Lake. Going to try again later this year, hopefully visiting many of the lakes along the way.

Amazing trailhead. So many trails and areas to explore. An awesome hiking experience altogether. If you want an awesome hike, with views and a lake. Hike up to Nambe lake, well worth the journey.

9 miles down hill. And tired! One of the great trails in New Mexico. Several miles of the trail alongside the Stream. You will cross stream many times sometimes with the bridge sometimes wet. 99% of the time you will be in the shade of the forest so its great even on hot days.

Looking to get away? Need some outdoor time. Hiking the Winsor Trail is good for that. Make sure you do the following for a safe hike:1. Let others know where your going and when you are going to be returning. Place this same info in your car at the trail head.2. Take plenty of water and some food.3. Take a map and compass along with your GPS4. Take extra layers and rain gear just in case.5. If you are coming from a lower elevation, give yourself a couple of days to get acclimated before heading up to 10,000+ feet.6. Over all...BE PREPARED.Have fun and enjoy your hike.

Just a beautiful trail, whether youre a hiker, runner, or mountain biker. Also one of the busiest trails near town in the summer, serving often as a connector for the many other trails that intersect it along its length. One end of the trail starts just east of the town of Tesuque and follows Tesugue Creek until its intersection with the Borego Trail, at which point the trail continues northeast while the creek meanders eastward. Continuing up the trail, youll cross Pacheco road, pass by the XC-ski parking area, then finally arrive at this trailhead (the midpoint of the trail), which also happens to be the lower part of the Ski Santa Fe parking lot. If you continue north and up along the trail from here, youll quickly hit the Wilderness boundary and bikes will have to turn around or hook a right to head up the very steep Ravens ridge. All the best bits of the trail occur north of the Wilderness Boundary. The forest is just gorgeous there and the trail, while still in good condition, is not overly manicured. If you continue on it long enough, youll eventually reach Winsor Creek as it drains out of lake Katherine. The trail continues along this creek from there (though there is also a less steep alternate route that diverges from the creek and takes a few switchbacks) until it reaches the old Winsor homestead, just west of Cowels, far up the Pecos canyon. All sections of the Windsor trail are recommended, though the section between the ski area and the turn off to the Chamisa trail is the most heavily trafficked in the summer, especially when it comes to downhill bike traffic (and for good reason-- its a fun descent thats rideable for nearly all ability levels). If youre hiking or running and can handle the altitude, starting at the ski area and heading north or starting up the Pecos canyon and heading south are my highest recommendations. But you really cant go wrong.

Beautiful! Somewhat hard for a flatlander. Bring water and trekking poles! There is a stream 2 miles in if you have a filter.

This is the highest of the Winsor trailheads, at the end of the Ski Basin road. Going up, it gives access to the Pecos Wilderness in a bit over a mile. Going down, it goes all the way to Bishops Lodge near Tesuque Village. A nice, very convenient trailhead.

Ive only been on this trail to hike to Nambé Falls and its an absolutely beautiful high mountain trail. There are aspen groves, streams, and great views.

We headed up the road in the dead of winter for the free camp sites. Slid a few times on the way down even with tire chains.
