Didnt actually go in because the museum was closed. But we did get out of the car and walk over to see surfers riding some waves. It was a neat experience.
A magical gathering point in our community. A large grassy lawn wrapped with a path protected by a fence on the edge of a ledge overlooking the ocean. At anytime you can find families, friends, tourists standing at the fence watching the surfers below. In the lawn youll find kids, dogs (on leash), hoopers, bubble artists enjoying the space by the ocean. Benches for sitting. The rails on the fencing are small enough that little ones can freely run about or watch the ocean below without worry. And during season the Lighthouse Surf Museum is open.
Iconic location. A place for entire family to enjoy.
Very scenic views, surfing museum and dog friendly beach
What a cute historical little lighthouse! Inside is a quaint and well done museum that provides a lovely timeline of local history. The staff is always sweet and helpful. The museum offers a few souvenirs and other small items for sale. I appreciate that they do such a great job in the upkeep and giving a tourist opportunity.
Great place to visit and see surfers and ocean waves.
Loved the history on the Santa Cruz Surfing. Beginning in 1885 with some Hawaiian Princes.
The birthplace of Norcal Surfing, a great place to take it all in. Watch Sea Otters, Surfers and whales, or run and bike along West Cliff. Oceanfront views to drool over
Beautiful place for a walk and talk with family and frieds.
Beautiful park with good surf
Loved it. Saw awesome surfers
Please keep in mind that the beach next to it is a dog beach. Dont go there if you dont like that.
Westside landmark. Had a great day to be on the Bay
This location has fantastic points of view and during rough weather the seas are wonderfully dynamic with their interactions with their sheer rocky cliffs. The evening provides beautiful sunsets. There are well-maintained pedestrian paths along the waterfront that can serve bicycles quite well in addition to foot traffic. Parking is sufficient most days.
Great, open field. Historic museum. Good view of the surfers and waves they wanted
We enjoy seeing new lighthouses any time were traveling. At this one we also got to watch the surfers for awhile.
Surfer nirvana... Spectacular views... Good energy... Social hangout...
Amazing landscape and view of the santacruz Beach coast from the lighthouse.
The best spot to look at Steamers Lane!!
I love historic places, just learned this is the place where surfing is introduced firstly in American continent
A great place to come alone, with your pup, or loved one. Suggest coming early and catch the peaceful morning rise
Great view of the boardwalk, the bay, and the ocean. There is a nice stretch of shore where you can walk and also access to the water through a set of stairs. Parking can be difficult to find, especially on weekends, however. This is definitely worth stopping at if youve never been to Santa Cruz.
Beautiful California coast with views of Santa Cruz and of course the Lighthouse
Great place to get away
Light house is also the surfer museum and from its patio you can actually watch the surfers catching the big waves
A wonderful place to relax and do some light exploration.
Must stop, and enjoy a historical surfing museum quickly take a tour, take in the great view and surfing opposite from the boardwalk.
Surf, Beach, Sunset, walk, beautiful people....what else you need????its heaven..
Nice view!
Very interesting and locely nature. Great area surrounding!
Come here to play with hippies, kids, dogs, and watch the surfers! Pop bubbles with strangers for fun! What a country.
My wife and I love to walk along West Cliff Drive because its very beautiful! One of the drawbacks though is sometimes there are lots of homeless around the restrooms and the parking lots.
Bring your dog and watch people surfing.
Best place to watch sunset.
Go here during the monarch migration season to see them perching off of the eucalyptus trees. This is a good alternative to the natural bridges state beach and usually has butterflies in larger numbers. Park anywhere on the adjacent street.
Beautiful location to watch the waves, surfers and wildlife. Great vantage point to look back on Santa Cruz beach, the Wharf and of course to watch the sunset. Plenty of parking nearby particularly if you come early. And dont miss surfing museum or drive along the nearby coast.
The museum at this lighthouse is actually dedicated to surfing
Good place to watch the sunset and the surfers.
Very calming and quiet place with great view of ocean. Houses along side the drive are beautiful
One of my favorite spots on the planet
Great place to watch surfers, and waves!
The houses are breath taking. Nothing like being around water to clam the nerves.
Beautiful, relax and enjoyable
Always a nice place to walk run or bike
Very awesome park! Beautiful views of the cliffs. Yippy can usually see surfers down below.Every Sunday theres fire dancing at sundown! You get some really talented people. Fire hoops, poi, whips, fire breathers, and more!
One of my favorite places in the world.
Great spot to watch the surfers
Nice healthy walk and view
Quaint little surf museum with interesting displays.
Beautiful lighthouse
Great place to watch surfers and the sunset. I almost always stop by when I visit Santa Cruz
We were at a wedding there.
What a great place for a walk, the views are amazing
Great view
Beautiful lighthouse built in memorial of a son.
An iconic stop in Santa Cruz adjacent to Lighthouse Field Beach aka Its Beach, which is dog friendly. Great vantage point to scope the surf or surfers at legendary Steamer Lane. Bike or stroll, visit the Surf Museum, or just sit and watch the sun rise or set over the ocean. Be on the lookout for the fire spinners at night who put on a great show even from as far away as the Wharf. Limited parking, which closes at sunset.
Very well kept lighthouse, very relaxing area with views of the surfers riding the waves.
Very nice place to stop, parking is challenging
Cute museum and store within. Great point to observe the ocean and skTe boarders
Incredible sunsets beautiful views
Such a nostalgic place to visit.
Its nice view ro surf riding! They quiet good surfers there and mid to high level of serfers.
Walked there to try and see the sunset. Beautiful scenery but couldnt see the sunset because its set behind land.
Stunning, who knew how cool lighthouses were? Well now I do!
Despite its name you wont get poked by any points here. What theyre referring to is that the land juts out here.
Cant go wrong here.
On one side, killer rocks. On the other side a gently sloping wading beach. Its a beautiful place to walk. On the night we were there a rag tag group of people had convened in the beginning of a drum circle, surfers were coming off the beach, and families had their dogs and kids running only loosely supervised. Highly recommend you spend some time with a date in this location in the evening. The chill comes on pretty fast so have a jacket handy.
Yes. Love it
Amazing beach view
Great walk & views
Fun place to watch the surfers.
Pretty views. Little museum about surfing.
Such a beautiful scene! Well worth a stop to have a look. The little surfing museum might fit your fancy too.
This place will take all your sadness away. Standing here watching the dogs play on the beach or just jump in to hug the wave, that is all I can say.
The view was breath taking.
Beautiful place.
PurrWorthy Historian Pleaser!
Beautiful sight to see on the coast and watch the sunset
Great place to watch brave surfers ride huge waves. Very beautiful sunset behind the Lighthouse. Only 4 stars because not enough parking spots.
A great place to watch surfers and/or sea lions, and occasionally whales and dolphins. The rules against hopping the fence are not enforced, but go to the cliffs edge at your own risk.
Good beach view
Good nature a d calm
Beautiful historic place
Always pleasant place to bring out of town visitors, or just myself.
Nice place to walk. Awesome sun sunset views. Dog friendly too.
Great place for a walk near the ocean, nearby dog beach. Always great views of ocean And surfers
Great beach bring your dog there .
Beautiful views. Hidden gem in Santa Cruz.
Great viewpoint when the surf is up or not. Visit the Surfers Museum and pay your respects to the surfers who surfed on 100 pound redwood surfboard back in the day.
Quaint
Really nice view. Most hiking trails are very easy.
