What a great place to bring the kids and get them out of their shell! fun atmosphere and totally safe for my family. I ran into a few friends while there and I learned about other animals too! It was a beautiful sunny day while I was there so could it have gotten better?! I think not.
Amazing place! So many gibbon apes and so cool to see them up close. We’ve been going for 10 years. If going on a tour go before 10am to hear the gibbons sing for breakfast. And every Mother’s Day weekend they have a breakfast with the gibbons fundraiser that is a can’t miss. Great for families and kids and totally worth the drive!
The Gibbon Conservation Center was like walking into a concert when we arrived in the morning slightly before opening. I was caught up in all the beautiful sounds that I forgot to take video of the beautiful songs being sang sadly. As we walked around before the 10:00 tour, we were able to watch some continue their duets, as well as, watch others eat, swing, and play. During the tour some of the animals weren’t as visible but it was amazing to hear from the director of the center all about the species of gibbons they house at the center, the center’s care of the gibbons and the conservation impact the center has made. It was a delight to hear about the relationship dynamics of each gibbon group and learn about the future plans for the center. We were only there for about 2 hours but it was a fabulous morning spent. The best part of the day was watching some of the parents play with the little ones and being able to hear them laugh as they wrestled and tickled each other! Not much shade to enjoy during the tour, so highly recommend bringing a hat or even a sun umbrella.
Gibbon Conservation Center is a great place to visit on a weekend. Their hours are limited (Sat & Sun, 9:30 - noon). The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. When the gibbons begin singing... oh my. Im glad I knew what all the hooting was about before it began. There is cute metal vintage seating in shaded spots throughout. This is a hidden gem. You have to know its there because signage is limited.
Who knew they had a wildlife center in Sylmar. You can find a Groupon for the admission. They have private encounters with certain animals for an extra fee. Wanted to go to sloth social & see the owl, they only have one visit per hour... so we left & came back. I suggest arriving when they first open because they do get busy on the weekend. Close up encounters vs going to the zoo. I loved seeing all the animals!
Amazing!! Was just speechless the whole time. Will be back.
My son loves it here and so do I! The staff is super cool too thanks for being so close to my house too!
The Gibbon Center is doing amazing work to take the best care of the Gibbons. The Gibbons have a high quality of life and are extremely well cared for by knowledgeable people. The tour is informative. I also enjoyed sitting on a bench and observing the Gibbons.I would recommend a visit for all ages. Children, teens, adults, and elderly would all enjoy being in the presence of the Gibbons. It can get dusty, so I recommend wearing closed toed shoes.
It was cool. Pretty hot while I was there and a little more shade for guests would be nice. Many monkeys and they were all out where you could see them.
Went for a school project and didnt arrive until an hour before closing, but the staff were really nice and willing to help me get any information I needed. If youre a fan of gibbons or just want to mix up your weekend with the family, this is a great place to check out several gibbon varieties.Warning though: gibbons are known for singing and it can be quite loud, so be ready!
Love this place. Great tour. It was really hot though. I hope well come back one day. The gibbons are beautiful creatures
The Apes put on a chorus today, interrupting our 10am tour guide but it was awesome! Our guide was excellent. You can tell she loves the Gibbons and they are very well cared for. More people need to know about this place....it is just minutes from The Gentle Barn, which gets so much more traffic. The conservation of these endangered apes is so important!I will definitely be back again!
This is a small but amazing place. The Gibbons are endangered and the center helps to keep them from becoming extinct. They have a new baby there. The work these people are doing is so important. Please visit and support them.
Great place to take the family on a Saturday! Get there by 10 AM for the tour..very informative. Support it
Fun, informative and lovely. Very friendly staff, great experience
Love this place. The Gibbons are amazing when they swing and they are up close so you can get a really good look at them.
Small, cute and educational. First zoo feel for little kids. Check out Groupon to get a deal! Best time to go is in the morning. It can get very hot.
Nice clean place to take the kids or just have a relaxing afternoon
Wonderful experience to enjoy with my daughter for her birthday. Love what you folks are doing! Keep it up!
We were looking for something to do since we had three days off from rain. And found this place on Groupon. Make sure to join the 10 am tour - perfect length and extremely informative.
Amazing place. We were overwhelmed by the gibbons songs. Beautiful. Wonderful staff!
Great place to learn about APES. Great tour even in the rain. Very knowledgable staff. Near and clean and the animals look very well taken care of.
Very nice place and very nice people
Great place to take your little ones. Very knowledgeable staff and good time for everyone!
The gibbons were really active. The staff was very polite and helpful.
Pleas donate. These folks are doing the best they can. We enjoyed our trip and walked away a little bit more educated.
Great tour, loved seeing & hearing the Gibbons!
I had a nice time watching the gibbons, especially when they started to sing. Its good to know that, despite their limited resources, theyre doing all they can to protect these endangered species. I hope they get more financial donors so they can keep this place open and expand to a bigger site.
Great place to visit and the staff is very knowledgeable. Cannot wait to go again.
Wonderful place...wonderful experience for people of all ages. The woman who gave the tour (we didnt catch her name; she had auburn hair and glasses) was just excellent. We learned a lot from her -- and, of course, from watching the marvelous gibbons.
Excellent. Guided tour very informative
Fun and unique date idea. The 10 am tour was great!
Very interesting animals. Dont go when its hot outside, as theres little shade, and its just plain HOT up there. Kids will get a kick out of their singing and its a rare chance to see these rare animals up close. Your donations clearly help this place and its very unique.
Great time to learn something new...the young lady doing our tour was great and full of knowledge. Small area but used very well for the size of the area. Great place to take the kids or just go with the spouse....
It was a good time. great tour, great tour guide and a fun time especially when the gibbons get loud :p .The gibbons wild population does make me want to look into cutting palm oil out of my diet.
Great experience! If you would like to learn a lot about the gibbon monkeys this is the place for you! The Gibbon monkeys sing very loudly durning opening of the park. I would reccomend everyone who cant make it to. Jungle to go experience that
Such a great way to spend the morning! When one starts singing...they ALL start singing. Its unlike anything youll ever experience! The tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgable, funny and engaging.
So informative on gibbons and the destruction of their natural habitats . Very good tour guide of the animals, the history of the Center and future prognosis.
A great way to start a Sunday morning. Had so much fun.
Its a one and done adventure. Cool place but not much to do
What a great place! Definitely worth the trip out but dont miss the tour. Very informative!
Hidden gem in the Santa Clarita/Valencia area. Great place to take your kids to - an up close and personal experience with monkeys. Very informative tours along with a place doing great things for endangered species. Nothing but positive things to say.
Interesting to get know more about them. But definitely a short tour and not very interactive. If I didnt have a Groupon I wouldnt have paid full price.
Well train individuals in their line of work on the research and knowledgeable about the gibbons
Was amazing, so awesome. Cant wait to go back.
Awesome place and project!
This is a very interesting place to visit. Its generally only open on weekends, with one tour per day. You dont have to be there for the tour, but its more interesting if you are. Great for young kids too!
Great little place if you ever have the time to visit. Dirt road is a little bumpy. Was fun to drive down lol.
It was an awesome experience listening to the Gibbons sing. Very educational and fun.

Great hidden gem in scv with amazing animals and everyone should definitely check it out if they live in or nearby SCV
So interesting and family friendly too
Not big but a lot of species there.
Caring, insightful guide... a powerful experience.
Terrific. Very knowledgeable staff, clearly a labor of love. Small exhibit -- fewer than 50 gibbons -- but all seemed well cared for, and active.
Beautiful center for gibbons & bonobos! Lots of space, lots of parking, such kind people working there, very caring of the animals, & knowledgable in these apes. Only cons is that it hasnt been remodeled to look more beautiful for the apes & visitors.
It was perfect but couldnt find the gorillas
Loved the Gibbons and the granddaughter loves apes
Great little hidden gem of the Santa Clarita valley! Tour was very informative and staff was incredibly friendly.
Go hear the gibbons call up close and hear all about the different personalities of the gibbon families there.
I love the gibbons! I like watching them swing around. Ive been a few times, definitely worth going.
An amazing place taking care of amazing apes. Go learn yourself about some gibbons!
