My new favorite theater. I cant believe it took me 5 years to make it here but now I cant wait to come back. Nice and clean. Friendly staff and awesome films selections. Looking forward to the really cool classic films that will be screening this summer. We just watched a Buster Keaton classic this Saturday accompanied by an organist. What an experience. I highly recommend this theater...its more than movies it an event.

The last movie we watched here was last month. We always choose this cinema whenever we wanted to watch a movie. We loved the atmosphere here, and they are not too cold! Their reclining seats were very clean and comfortable. They also offer a snack corner to munch while watching the movie. We had their hot dog and popcorn, and it was the best!

Seriously, one of the places that helps to keep me sane while living in OC. This independent cinema is totally unpretentious, and with a brilliant and curious selection of films. Movies at this theatre can skew towards horror at some times, but there are other types of films, both classic and modern, shown here. Definitely a gem.

What a gem in the city! Went here for the Grease Sing-A-long and was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be a regular run down theatre but right a as I walked in I was taken by the vintage architecture as well as its grandness. So ornate and pretty....felt like I was a little back in time.

We were intrigued as to the approach taken to the famous story of Anastasia. What was presented was a exuberant and highly entertaining take on the most famous child of the last Czar. The production was excellent resulting in brilliant sets that segued seamlessly from one location to the next. Colorful throughout, the players were marvelous with most engaging characters.

This was recommended by a friend, and I am so grateful it was. Not-for-profit organization that is serviced by volunteers and provides all sorts of entertainment; art films to blockbusters, it is worth visiting because you will find something appealing and support the cause. In addition, they also host some fun events: Horror Marathons to Rocky Horror Night.

The combination of a great show at a stunningly beautiful venue pretty much ensures a wonderful experience!

Its a cute and small, old school theater with friendly staff and plays old school and unique movies and only two theater rooms. However, they dont sell much in terms of food, and there is that odd smell when you walk in. Its not enough to deter you, but its just there. No clue what it is.

The Frida is a great art house theater, helping to revitalize part of Santa Ana. With connections to local businesses, fundraisers, charity events, film festivals, artists of all types, Q&A sessions with actors and directors, this theater keeps moving the bar higher. Executive Director Logan Crow is in his element running the Frida. Stop by and say hi, catch a performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and enjoy supporting the arts as often as you can.

Old school theater, no frills, no fuss, no reserved seating; just like the good ol days! They play a great selection of movies most people will appreciate. They have beer on tap which is a plus! However, TFC, you need to check your kegs and thermostats for them... I was there on Friday night 11/22, the beer was warm and sour. Thats bad for business... fix this and youre solid!

Only wish I lived closer so I could attend more often, the hour drive is still worth it when they have amazing events like the Watchmen anniversary with a Q&A from David FREAKIN Hayter! Just remember that its an art house type theater. You are not going to get premium recliner seating or mind blowing picture, instead you get a nostalgic experience, with cool quirky touches. Where else can u find that!?

I find it difficult not to come to the Frida on a weekly basis. There is always at least one if not several amazing movies playing. You wont find reclining seats or the latest blockbuster films playing here, but what you will find are classic and indie films, and a staff that loves great movies, and its likely someone will come out to talk to the audience briefly before your movie begins to talk about the film and upcoming films. This is my kind of theater, the kind that leaves me nostalgic, thoughtful, and/or delighted.

Its a nice small theater. They show niche films like the anime movie Promare. It seems to have two movie screens. The seats are newer and definitely better than most standard seats such as at the El Capitan. No assigned seating unfortunately. But if youre a fan of classic horror and niche films(E. G. Dracula or Tommy Wiseaus The Room), its a nice spot to see films youd normally watch on DVD in a theater setting with friends.

Had a great time with my husband and daughter watching The Rocky Horror Show, the shadow cast were amazing and fun. Hadnt seen it since I was a senior in high school, and that was a looonnnngg time ago. The murals on some of the building exterior walls are exquisite. The area around the Frieda Cinema (downtown santa ana, I think) is quite nice and geared toward people being together whether they were shopping, eating or catching up with friends and felt much like Barcelona Spain where we just spent several weeks.

The venue is nice and fairly priced for a arthouse theater. The only thing that bugs me is that they dont show a lot more lesser know foreign films. Humble theater in Downtown Santa Ana. I came for a special screening of a limited release movie and was pleased with the theater itself. The lobby could use a little lighting to complement the wonderful decor. Ticket register can be confusing when there are a lot of people coming in, but its mostly alright.I give it 4* out of the 5 because these are mistakes that can improve the atmosphere and the experience of going to a non-franchised movie theater with its own personality. Nevertheless, visit this theater as it will be worth your while!
