A nice reserve with a few hiking trails along the Bay from China Camp State Park. On a clear day the views are nice with some great scenery.

Beautiful views hiking the shoreline trail in the China Camp area in san Rafael. There is a use fee of trail. You can pay on the trail by the Ranger station. It appears to be less expensive to park in provided parking lots for 2 to 4 people in one car. As the parking fee includes the use of the trails for up to 4 people.Trail can be picked up in several locations including the ranger station. No dogs allowed on trail. Beaware there are mountain bikes on the trail. I will come back. Hope you enjoy your visit.

This is one of the most serene places in the Bay area to be. Fresh air and off the beaten path but so easy to find. Highly recommend seeing the park with your own eyes. Spring time is especially pretty. The captures are in early spring 2019. Nice drive off the 101 in Marin County.

It is amazing, I would rate this behind the grizzly trail. I was very surprised by the view of the water and how low the tide was. But it just kept going and going. I was able to get up and close to a boat, but unfortunately some areas were closed. We timed it just right from what others were saying. It was practically empty. We had the park to ourselves. It was very difficult to keep going because there was a reason to stop around every corner, driving is fun. But if you look away to your phone for a sec, you miss out on something.

We visited via the Rush Ranch Open Space on a warm afternoon in the fall. There were a few birds about but for the most part pretty shy as you would expect. Walked the marsh side trail and was very impressed with the blackberries, if I had a container I would have picked enough for a pie. Generally very peaceful though the fishermen in the creek made quite a racket. Id like to return in the spring.

I enjoy this area I access from the frontage road next to I-680. Its not only a refuge for birds and other local wildlife its a portal for duck hunters. The hunters actually help manage the duck population. There are different types of ducks they are allowed to hunt for. The quantity caught varies from one type to another as well. I like this hunting idea of management so I dont have to try my abilities of crawling through mud for a bird for Christmas dinner. Ive talked to some of the hunters. They love it. Too many ducks we might be killing them in commuter traffic as they go splat into the car windshield. OMG.
