Beautiful views hiking the shoreline trail in the China Camp area in san Rafael. There is a use fee of trail. You can pay on the trail by the Ranger station. It appears to be less expensive to park in provided parking lots for 2 to 4 people in one car. As the parking fee includes the use of the trails for up to 4 people.Trail can be picked up in several locations including the ranger station. No dogs allowed on trail. Beaware there are mountain bikes on the trail. I will come back. Hope you enjoy your visit.
Wide open spaces. Wetlands with trails.Very Bueatiful place. Must see to appreciate.
Beautiful coastline great educational place for children and adults friendly staff it was an all-around wonderful experience
A beautiful walk on a fall day The trails are easy and the view is spectacular
It is amazing, I would rate this behind the grizzly trail. I was very surprised by the view of the water and how low the tide was. But it just kept going and going. I was able to get up and close to a boat, but unfortunately some areas were closed. We timed it just right from what others were saying. It was practically empty. We had the park to ourselves. It was very difficult to keep going because there was a reason to stop around every corner, driving is fun. But if you look away to your phone for a sec, you miss out on something.
The waterfront was for boat loading and unloading. It makes kids happy to play in sand. Water is not clean.
Great place to hike, take the kids to see horses or just kick back and relax.
Pleasant short hike in beautiful surroundings.
Best views in all of the bay
Beautiful area great for launching your kayak for a stroll or some serious fishing. There is a parking lot but there is a daily use fee. Bathroom and a few bench tables are there also for use.
Water isnt so clean and we all kept getting bit by bugs in the water.
I loved my visit to this place. To fully appreciate its contribution to the area, I think it helps to spend a few minutes reading about its ecology and history. There are places for families, for picnics, and for hiking and solitude.
The hike we took was beautiful, with amazing views of the bay and of the mountain. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon appreciating nature but also very convenient being right near town.
Its always nice to see the view of the Bay from unique angles and appreciate a more natural setting at the same time. Peaceful out here.
Beautiful scenery! Awesome hiking. Lots of animals.
One of the only intact marshes left. Great birding
A true hidden gem! A must see if you have out of towners. Great vantage point for taking pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Great place to chill
We visited via the Rush Ranch Open Space on a warm afternoon in the fall. There were a few birds about but for the most part pretty shy as you would expect. Walked the marsh side trail and was very impressed with the blackberries, if I had a container I would have picked enough for a pie. Generally very peaceful though the fishermen in the creek made quite a racket. Id like to return in the spring.
Save the bay. Its beautiful
Very calm and relaxing spot close to San Rafael, recommended for a road trip or a picnic outside of the city.
We have visited this venue, Rush Ranch, 3 times now for the Cherokee Nation Annual picnic. We have enjoyed the open spaces immensely. This is a beautiful area for a family adventure day.b
Pretty walks!
I love this place. Lots of wildlife and quiet trails. Watch for the disrespectful mountain bikers who dont give right of way unsafely.
Very quiet place near the big city. Nice trails for walking or biking.
I enjoy this area I access from the frontage road next to I-680. Its not only a refuge for birds and other local wildlife its a portal for duck hunters. The hunters actually help manage the duck population. There are different types of ducks they are allowed to hunt for. The quantity caught varies from one type to another as well. I like this hunting idea of management so I dont have to try my abilities of crawling through mud for a bird for Christmas dinner. Ive talked to some of the hunters. They love it. Too many ducks we might be killing them in commuter traffic as they go splat into the car windshield. OMG.
China camp had great hikes and bicycling informative museum
Great for kiddos!
Its a great getaway off the freeway, like most places go mid week..Very relaxing ride and many small turnouts parking places.

GorgeousRelaxingUnspoiledEasy walk from the parking lotSupport natureEnjoy natural surroundingsNice place to sit and unwind.
Amazing vacation. Beautiful campsite.
We owe it to nature to keep it prospering and young forever n more. Just dont venture out there in spring and summer. Too many pesky bugs and possibly pollen?! Just my humble opinion.
Rush Ranch is a wonderful open space owned by Solano Land Trust. Bring the whole family for a great educational experience.
Decent hike, too many bikes though, and the trails are marrow. You have too be careful

China camp state park.is great for a day hike. Nice trails, great views. Bring your own food - no real services within. Visitor center is worth a stop - great set of stuffed birds + animals. The village is well worth your time - nicely preserved artifacts from the 1850s and a really cool Chinese junk!
Nice Bay area get away
Beautiful scenery. Very runnable trails. Decent facilities.

A surprising find. Took teenagers here for a little outing while we were camping nearby. The model is absolutely amazing. I am fascinated by the detail and science behind it.
Great park right on San Pablo bay.
Great place to take a break and relax.

Beautiful historical place to learn about the area. I dont like how they charge you for hiking biking or parking but I guess you need to support them some how
Such a cool place! A little off the beaten path, quiet, not to many people but such great beauty. The bay, the views and the trails.
Watch out for pigs..
Great place to take the family. Launch my kayak out there for fishing too. Buildings are not much but cool to see for the history.
Very nice scenery!! Would definitely recommend to anyone interested.
Nice, great views all around San Rafael, the northern San Francisco and San Pablo sections of the bay.
Great place to hike, mtn bike, and camp. Great views of the Bay and many opportunities to see wildlife.Hiking and MTN biking are mostly beginner to intermediate, but there are some trails with steep technical areas for the advanced.
Love this estuary
Wide open spaces in suburbia. Three hiking trails of 2 miles each, all with fantastic views. Great free educational programs offered throughout the year from a nonprofit group - the Rush Ranch Educational Council. Lots of history there.
China Camp trails take you away from the hustle. Bring your own food if you plan on staying for a while. Be careful of the Poison Oak.
A great place to bring family, have a picnic, walk your dog on leash, or practice birdwatching, plant ID, or photography. Solano Land Trust owns and operates the property, and hosts events for all ages and interest groups with their many partners, including NERR, Access Adventure, Rush Ranch Education Council, and Solano RCD. You can also rent it as a venue for parties or workshops. Theres something for everyone at Rush Ranch!
