This is an EVO entertainment company theater and they do a great job with money for value entertainment. Prices are $6.75 before 6pm and $8.75 after. They have $5 Tuesdays and flashback cinema all year with Summer weekly $1 kids movies. All the typical movie food plus burgers and pizza, beer and cocktails. All the seats are nice but not yet reclining, soon to come Im sure. They have a arcade area with enough games to be fun for a little while if your waiting for a movie. I think the location is the best because you have places to eat around it and even a Marble Slab next door for ice cream if youre living it up big . The staff are friendly and the bathrooms stay clean. Its a nice theater with a small town vibe still.

HORRIBLE!!!!! FREEZING, NOT IN THE MAIN ROOM BUT THE THEATER SCREEN ROOMS, UNFRIENDLY EMPLOYEES, A MESS AND MORE EXPENSIVE THAN ANY OF THE OTHER LOCAL MOVIE THEATERS.., SO COLD PEOPLE WERE LEAVING AND BRINGING BLANKETS IN!!! TRASH ALL OVER THE FLOORS, POPCORN SPILT ALL OVER THE COUNTERS AND EMPLOYEES DOING NOTHING. MYSELF AND ANOTHER PATRON I WAS NOT WITH... WENT AT THE SAME TIME TO ASK IF WE COULD GET SOME MUCH NEEDED HEAT AND THEY SAID THEY COULDNT...... IM TALKING ALMOST ABLE TO SEE YOUR BREATH COLD!! NEVER AGAIN. NEVER!!️️️️️

This is a fairly good theater. It is cheaper than most places around here for movie tickets. They have upgraded a lot since I was a child, as they are owned by the EVO people now. Seats are big and comfortable now! :3

Clean. Theaters fairly well marked. Could not get new 3D glasses? Used ones available but nothing to clean them with? I have no problem recycling but many were visibly dirty. Trying to get help was difficult. As with any theater drinks, popcorn & candy was ridiculously expensive.

This is normally a decent theater and has had nice upgrades over the years. I was disappointed this last time when we went to see 1917. The audio was great but the screen in theater four was dirty and took away from the experience. It had visible lines and a stain in the middle of the screen. It appears that they attempted to clean the the screen but only the top was clear of dirt and grime.

Always been a local favorite of mine. From Starplex to Evo its only grown and changed with improvements as time goes on. Drafts, bottles and non alcoholic beverages along with all the best snacks and even small meals!

$5 Tuesday! Its clean, price of popcorn too high but now you can just get a bottle of soda, I like that better because ice just waters down a drink IMO. I do prefer going to this theater instead of the ones with bowling. Too much noise and commotion for an old lady who just wants to go to the movies.

Despite the huge crowd we came with, they staff got us our snacks and drinks quickly so we can get settled in for the movie

Sound system was working great! Comfy seats and the theater was clean, no sticky floors.

The first thing I see when I get up to the queue for the ticket booth is everyone in line with either a blanket or coat. Mind you its summer… in Texas. It was at this point I realized we were going to enter the artic zone and we were ill prepared. When you first walk in its really not that bad. There is an arcade to your left and restrooms and movie entrance to your right and smack dab in the middle is the snack line. Standard movie fair. Of course you have to sacrifice your first born to pay for it all but I would say its common practice at most theaters. I would say the large popcorn and drinks are Massive so I guess it kinda evens out. We had to go back when we realized they gave us a large popcorn of crumbs.. Definitely was not impressed but they kindly exchanged it. When we finally get back to the showroom the temperature wasn’t bad at first but sitting in a dark room with the AC on full blast… yea it got super cold. In all it was an enjoyable experience.

It was comfortable seats, temperature nice, & the sound was audible but not blaring. Snack bar cashiers were nice & quick service.

Kind of dissapointed with this location.Didnt like there wasnt a small popcorn choice, instead the bucket size is a small. The design of the theaters seems crammed, the seating layout . Audio quality was also low, didnt come across as loud cinematic quality.Overall was an okay theater, not my favorite but itll work for a last minute movie trip.

I really liked it guy that looked at our tickets was kinda rude. I didnt want him to mark them up because I wanted to put them in my scrap book but he marked them up anyway. And wasnt nice about it.

To be honest, Ive become spoiled by The Spot but Starplex is a good theater. No complaints. Its clean, friendly and a good experience.

Decent theater with typical theater snacks. Average sized screen and reasonably comfortable seats. The only thing I did not like was the smell of mold when I first entered the theater room, the smell was not overwhelming but definitely there... I soon enough forgot about it and enjoyed the movie.

Had a good time! There were no issues with the movie and the theater was fairly clean. The employees seemed nice. We didnt get to see the movie we wanted to see bc they didnt have it, so I do kind of wish they kept movies a bit longer and had a wider selection, and the concessions are minimal and overpriced, as is tradition, but mostly its pretty good.

Evo is such a terrific place to go and the staff made the experience even better.

Ive only seen two movies here. In both cases, there was no waiting line for tickets. Ticket sales staff was wonderful. The snack bar staff was very professional. The theaters I was in were comfortable. Sound wasnt too loud, like other places Ive been. I will continue to attend movies here.

Frozen 2 was the bestest movie! I have been going to this theater pretty much my whole life.

The audio cut out five times during the dumbo movie. The screen was dirty and had bazaar lines in it when it went to a bright scene. Went to ask for money back after the movie. Couldnt find the manager or any one else. Starplex is a ripoff, dont waste your money.

This is not my favorite theater to come to but is nice. They don’t have much options on snacks. Every time we come they barely have anything. The movies though are high quality and happy with that. Just wish they had better snacks.

Pretty good theater. Seats are kinda airy but not uncomfortable. Also not the most packed so you can get good seats easily and for cheap.

Had a rough experience at starplex when I watched a movie here the sound was garbage. Someone would just slightly move and you can hear every maneuver. I do enjoy evo in kyle but after experiencing their other theaters by far this one is the worst one.

Love going to the movies here. This visit to see John Wick 3 was good except the theater was to cold. I brought it to the attention of management but noting was done. Others in the theater said the same thing.

The seats were a little uncomfortable. I liked that the wait time was very short. We got to the theater three minutes after the movie began, and we still made it on time. The seats are arranged so that even if someone stands up, you have a good view of the screen. No refills on the tub of popcorn like at cinemark.

I guess I picked the right time to go, hardly anyone there. Got popcorn no extra butter and a budlight, and omg that warm salty popcorn washed down with a hella cold beer started the movie out right. Saw Joker... CRAZY movie and Joaquin Phoenix was great...still crazy though. The restrooms were clean, it was a nice place. I wld go back.

We were in a movie theater that has no a/c on a June day in Texas. Told Ashley,a manager and she said oh well you were told before the movie which we were not. I told her that one member of our group is a military vet who suffers from seizures and if there is no ac they shouldnt be using that theatre and she said its not a big deal. Talk to another manager, Jason after the movie and that they were aware of the issue and ownership was forcing them to continue to use the theatre.

I love coming to this movie theater. The seats are very comfortable. However, they make a weird noise when you sit on them. Every night and day student tickets are five dollars. I like you being my parents here because the facilities are nice. I have a great time every time I go to Starbucks. It’s nice that Evo entertainment by this movie theater out. I also live very close by, which is convenient

This is very sad I have been going here for a while but I recently went and my truck got broken into. Very disappointing that I can’t go to a movie theatre and relax and coming out to my truck being broken into. They need better security so if you plan on going here don’t because I thought it was a good area but it’s not. Until they fix it I wouldn’t advise going

I enjoy going to movies here and it is one of the few places left that doesnt have assigned seating. Especially as a teen you always had a friend or 2 that didnt know if they could make or you get there and see another friend and want them to join you. I hate the new assigned seating because it doesnt account for that. Also there are not any rude children running you down which I find a lot recently at some other places

Big theater. Accepts Movie pass. Good parking. Good location. Good service. The only bad thing is the seats could be better, if you go in winter bring a blanket.

Let me ask you this.... have you ever been in a movie theatre so hot that your $5 m&m’s melted ? I was melting myself. As I was smelling an accumulation of people’s bad odors and dusty old farts. We were offered a refund an hour into the movie, meaning we would have to just walk out in the middle of a movie we drove half an hour to see if we wanted our money back. Disgusting, hot as hell, and musty smells the whole time. I picked the wrong theatre, make sure y’all go to the other one down the road. Also, they were out of the only beer we wanted.

Still the classic movie theater, but a bit more upgraded. Always well maintained and clean restrooms. Good screen quality and never had any issues with sound.

Wasnt too crowded and had good concession options. The downside to low attendance was the AC was low and it was a little stuffy/still but I cant blame the theater for being energy efficient. Good time overall!

The theater was so hot! It was very uncomfortable and there was a small fan at the entrance supposed to cool the whole place? Thankfully the showing we went to disnt have many patrons otherwise the body heat would of been unbearable. Tempted to walk out and ask for my money back!!!

We got a tour today with David and he was so well educated about all the fun facts on this theater. I didn’t know you could fit just under 100 games into a game room! And the EVX screen was soooo huge!! Totally awesome for some Mario kart, I’m just sayin. Thanks David for showing us around after our movie! Totally will be by again

Not giving it a five star rating as all movie theaters are nice, but one thing wrong while watching the movie... its way too cold. As the rest of the facility is comfortable, you go in to sit down, it starts feeling like you are in an icebox!!

Corporate CEOs are ruining it. Theyve gone with smaller popcorn bags, theyre charging for condiments like jalapenos. Less for consumers and more for their pockets. Hope they build a new theater in San Marcos. Starplex has gone Corporate.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The place is kept clean and the seats are pretty comfortable. I have a back injury and after sitting for a couple of hours my back is not hurting as bad as other places I been to. I been coming here since I moved to San Marcos 8 years ago. Ive only had one issue and that was the AC seemed like it wasnt working very well. The restrooms are pretty much always kept clean. Prices are pretty much like any other theater.

Went early afternoon to watch a new movie. Theatre wasnt too packed. Lines were not long. The hallway and theatre were clean. It is a nice friendly environment.

Pretty good local theater, not much makes it special besides its prices. Best Come here to watch your movies that your curious to see, save the Blockbuster movies for a better experience else where.Also, their opening night theater, show room sixs air conditioning has been out for the last five to six months as of June. Try avoiding newly released movies at this theater because the heat can easily become unbearable with the crowded show room.Edit: A/C is a bigger problem as it happens in numerous show rooms constantly working, and not working

Ive been going to starplex since my teenage years,and to my recollection never really had a bad experience. This time around I noticed the sound system didnt sound that great in theater 8 in my opinion. It was a little on the low side. Maybe I just got spoiled by the awesome theaters at the spot. Anyways, besides that, you cant go wrong with $5 movies on Tuesdays.

Game cards are 5.00, We bought multiple cards from the manager. Key prize game is broken and they keep saleing cards when aware machine is broken. Hit prizes at least 5 times. Manager only agreed to give us one prize because it wasnt a witnessed win by an employee. What is that? The games arent set up by any employees. I had already complained that it wasnt working correctly prior to the manager agreeing to give the least expensive item. The theater needs to be updated. The seats arent comfortable. The popcorn was great.

The movie started 20 minutes late and ended 20 minutes early. Did not get to finish the film.

Not only do they charge an arm and leg for food and drinks but my boyfriend went to go get a refill and they don’t do refills. They charged him for a while other drink. At $5.00 a pop. Really. Like they don’t make enough money. Restaurants charge less for drinks and free refills.

There were roaches in the halls and bathroom. The bathrooms seemed like they werent cleaned in a very long time.

Havent been here in years so it was nice to see the upgraded seats. Sount however was terrible. Theater 8 has no surround sound. Whole movie sound came from the front speakers which werent loud enough especially when actors were whispering.

The customer service here was absolutely incredible here. Will & Ty were a great help!

A pretty good theater nothing special really. But the good trade off is its a large theater so usually you can get to see the movie you want. We went to see Avengers infinity war and all of the spots showings were sold out and we went here and the first one we wanted had seats available.

The cinema isnt horrible, but it definitely is in need of an update. Broken and missing stall doors in the bathrooms, older uncomfortable seating in the theater. For a much more pleasant experience, visit the other Evo in San Marcos: The Spot.

Concession line varies depending on the time of day and day of the week, but service is generally fast! Its not a luxury style theater but the theaters are air conditioned so it feels really cool.

Bathroom was disgusting and reeked of urine. The popcorn was burnt, and the seats felt cramped

Not a bad little theater. In a time with Alamo drafthouse and iPics its hard to give a simple movie theater a great review. When it comes to seating theyre comfortable long seats that are well placed so that a tall person in front of you doesnt obstruct your view. The seats lean back slightly and arm rests go up. No full kitchen or bars, just the usual theater food, snacks and drinks.

Not sure what happened before I got there for my 8 oclock movie but the lobby was filled with smoke which turns out it was from one of the popcorn machines which they still left running. So it was continuous smoke. Also appeared to be short staff and a very unhappy staff. I am not from there so this could have been a very off Saturday but Im pretty sure if i ever visit I will think twice about going back.

Really like that this movie theater is around the corner from our house... but it seriously needs a revamp and freshening up. I know the company put a lot of their chips in the huge Schertz location, but they really should help this one a little. Especially if youre offices are literally next door to it. I think either the lenses need to be cleaned or the screens... I mentioned it to people several times and I get scoffed at.. not great to watch a movie when you have a large smudge on the screen through the whole movie. I gave it 3 stars because the employees there do try.. work with what you got.
