I love it here! They have free movie events that we love going to...especially around Christmas. You can bring your own snacks or buy theirs... they’re not expensive. It’s a beautiful theater and was built by a well known architect in the 40’s, so there’s nothing exactly like it. They also have some really great bands that play here.
Have only been to three theatres that host concerts ever. The Fremont is still an actual theatre which is cool. The acoustics are great. We saw Reverend Horton Heat, Big Sandy and The Voodoo Glow Skulls. Everyone sounded great and I wasnt deafened by the end. The fact that there is seats if you dont want to stand up front is nice. There was local beer on tap for a decent price. Had a great time. Cant wait to catch another show there.
I would say this is a good little place to see your favorite bands. My only problem with this is they have some rude people working for them. Not every employee was rude, just a few. They seem like they only catered to a certain crowd of there own. We certainly enjoyed the concerts at the Fremont and loved the atmosphere of the classic building. I would give the Fremont a five star review, but I am taking one star away because of the rude employees. They should treat all customers the same.
Saw The (English) Beat♡ & opening act The Delerians on 1/25/20. Excellent, intimate venue with awesome mosh pit! (The first 20? rows of theater seats have been removed.) Lotta fun & a great way to see a band very up close & personal. Staff very friendly & helpful. Great place for intimate concert, having the choice to either sit back & relax or go to the pit & dance, jump & yell your *** off! Next stop: Farewell tour of the great George Clinton & P Funk - Fri, 2/21.
Really cool spot with some old school charm from when it was an actual movie theater. The ceiling and walls are themselves pretty neat works of art and the acoustics are great for concerts. Also, the concerts they throw generally have good talent and are somewhat reasonably priced. Parking can be a little of an issue on the street but theres a parking structure just a block or so up, so no biggie. Snacks and drinks are also usually available in the front. Security is good about not being too heavy handed at during the concerts Ive been to and thats a huge improvement from a lot of venues where they have big guys who are just untrained shirt fillers with an attitude. Decent older crew of guys and gals who keep the peace. Ill definitely hit the Fremont for another concert in the near future.
Drove up from the inland empire to check out this theater and a show. Both were pleasantly wonderful. FYI ....the act on this night was moe. and they were absolutely great. If you dont know this band you must put them on your bucket list. Glad I came......
My first time here for a concert and wow! What a venue! The decor is really retro but the sound was awesome! There is a cool little area down front without seating where you can dance. I remember when it used to be a movie theater and I actually enjoy the current set up much more. Will definitely be back!
I saw Ace Frehley last night and was a VIP guest that had a guitar to have Ace personally sign for me while I met him backstage. The Fremont Theater Manager and staff treated me like VIP and made sure my instrument was kept safe until after the show for my meet and greet with Ace. The food at the snack bar was not overly priced and the Pizza was not frozen and tasted decent. The venue itself is amazing and I am so glad they have kept the same ceiling art deco style that they have had since I have been coming here way back in the eighties when they would have Midnight Movies. I have never seen a live concert here until last night and it was amazing. The acoustics of this theater are classic and sound great. No wonder that back in the 80’s YES played live at the Fremont Theater. Thank you Fremont Theater for an experience I will never forget!
Beautiful old theater, they seem to being in some great entertainment. However the chairs need a little love. They are a little worn and squeaky.
Love it as concert venue! Tribal Seeds, Tropidelic and more was awesome. Unfortunately, the last show had a ridiculous amount of outside security for a Blue Oyster Cult show. They were just too much, it wasnt like a mosh pit was about to break out! They were going after people just using their phones, including myself talking to my family. No one was allowed to take pics or video of them at all. Much ado about nothing...
We have been to 3 concerts so far and love it every time. Good Vibes, great music, very chill people.
Went to a few concerts here I love the inside of this place the decorations beautiful what I dont like is all the marijuana smoking at the concerts they search you but somehow it gets in and cash-only for booze
This is an Old movie theatre in downtown san luis Obispo.they have music venues also. depending on the band they remove the seats up front for dancing.the capacity is 900. Security is cool and you can go in and out during shows. The only thing that could be better is the sound. And parking is not right at the venue you have to park on the street.
Fairly intimate venue. The drink selection was poor. But they did have food to eat.
Good rustic venue with comfortable seating and decent pit. The parking is a bit slim
Great place for a concert. I attended the Toad the Wet Sprocket . Just fantastic
Great venue. Just small enough to be intimate without being too exclusive
This theater is possibly one of the coolest theaters Ive been inside of. We watched a punk rock band perform here and it was dynamite. The only problem was the amount of devil lettuce being burnt in the viewing area made my eyes tear up so bad I couldnt see from the nose bleed section.
1940s built theater. Beautiful art decor designs from the outside to the inside. Impressive art murals on walls and ceiling. Big old fashioned stage, with velvet curtains. Great place to watch a show.Heres some helpful tips; The theater stays warm, so dress appropriately.Seats from row A to K are hard folding chairs, Rows L and beyond are the old fashioned soft permanent seats.Parking can be hard to find on the streets. But there is an city parking lot a block away, across from the library.Lots of restaurants nearby for pre show and after show dinner, appetizers and cocktails.
What a great venue. They bring in great acts, the experience is hassle free, and everythings reasonably priced. Choose to stand or sit in the REALLY comfortable seats. Ill be coming back!
The only entertainment venue in SLO. All indoor. ITS OK. The seating could use a upgrade. I am not a smoker. So watching everyone spark up their joints and security saying nothing about it really surprised me. We came to watch Bone thugs n harmony and the show was just ok..I am from L.A so the venues out here in SLO pale in comparison to which I am used to. Its a low budget theatre turned into a concert venue. DO NOT EXPECT THE STAPLES CENTER OR NOKIA THEATRE EXPERIENCE.
Fremont Theater in my opinion is an historic landmark for San Luis Obispo. Its a basic theater but they also have concerts and holiday events and movies that always bring my family, and sometimes just the wife and I, to this venue. Its not a high-end theater but you wont be disappointed. If the day the Fremont closes is the same day San Luis Obispo loses its charm. 5 stars not for the screens/sound (still ok though) but for good shows & movies at good times at good prices. If they have a movie or show you like, go here without hesitation. My 2 cents.
The Fremont is a majestic and historical gem. Concerts, movies and special events. They dont make them like this any more.
The place looked awesome outside. I love the old Theater look. I wish they would have opened the door 7:30 or at least by 8:00. Once inside the inside looked amazing...And we got what I thought were good seat in the second row, but as the time passed and the concert was ready to start. Lots of people went to the front to stand up for the concert and we could hardly see anything. My daughter has a handicap and we couldnt go up there because she would have gotten knocked down. I know we didnt pay alot for the concert. But next time I know...
Had a blast at a concert last week. But the theater needs A.c or some big fans was pretty hot inside
Concert venue is one of our old movie theaters. Just heard Trombone Shorty put on a show, it was fantastic! Lights and sound were amazing and this theater allows you to have the big/little show experience here in SLO.LOTS of dining options in our downtown area and you will love the experience
Great space but felt a little dirty or old. Stage had what you would expect for the performance and seats were nice.
If you like going to concerts id look into getting the membership at Fremont.
Love this theater, so beautiful! Amazing place to see a show.
Cold war kids played last night great show love the freemont reminds me of the state theater in Kalamazoo mi.
It was nice great view n seats available n drinks with fast line but hot inside when your having fun wish more aid but over all awesome for first timer
Went to see a concert. Not a bad seat in this house
I watched Atmosphere perform here. I had a great time. The staff was nice, the theater was clean, bathrooms too. I would definitely go to another concerts here.
Recently attended a concert at this venue. This theater is not grand, but is an historic gem. It is a step back in time, from an authentic concession stand, to the vanguard interior design, this is a Theater.
Still looks almost the same & say great concert of James Garner.
Great staff! Great vibe, beautiful venue! I love seeing artists in this more intimate environment l, especially with the choice of theater seats with great views, as opposed to the outdoor / stadium style, which is also great in a different way! Cheers to Fremont for having outstanding acts regularly, of all genres!
An older small venue with a stage and some seating. If you go to a concert here go ahead and get GA tickets because you are so close to the stage in the small venue anyway, unless you truly want to sit down. There is also a bar for alcoholic drinks and snacks.
Beautiful old painted lady style venue. We were there for the New Times Music Awards. Great caliber of performers, but I had a hard time not looking at the ceiling.
I went to go see suicide girls for my birthday what an experience. The surrounding area is clean. The seats are comfortable. I would highly recommend
Concerts take place here. Good time
Attended the Los Lonely Boys concert, Thursday night. What a great show! Staff, security were very professional, polite. The seating, sound, concessions, excellent. Lonely Boys put on a great concert, gonna head to Boo Boo records, and buy their CDs!
Such a cool place to see a show!
The theatre is lovely. The concert started late, but was good. It would have been nice to know the concert wasnt going to start until an hour and a half after the time posted on our tickets. I
Seeing the Offspring unplugged was awesome, a really fun time & they sounded great-- much better than I thought the ol Fremont could do! Complaint is for how hot it got in the theatre. Even the band commented on how hot it was. Unsure if it was a ploy to sell more drinks or a mistake with the thermostat, but defly got uncomfortable by the end of the concert. Other than that, great venue for a more intimate show.
Love this place, seen some great shows both movies and concerts. Really happy to enjoy concerts there now. Keep up the great work of providing awesome bands. Thank you.
Had a blast while Lil Rob and McMagic where here, drinks and everything else overpriced but to be expected I guess !!! Parking was scarce as well ...
Beautifully restored old theater downtown. Seats are comfortable and the sound is great. If youre able to see a show here Id recommend it.
Saw a comedy revue for the annual SLO Comedy Festival on 2/25/19. Doors opened at 6:30pm for the 7:30pm show. The line moved quickly as people checked i
A tribute to Johnny Cash was great.
Great experience seeing Shaggy at the beautiful historic Fremont Theatre. Great acoustics for a show and the venue is an intimate setting. No matter where you are, you have a great view of the performer. Might do some good to take a couple rows of seats out as to provide more space for standing audience. Other than that, its awesome!
It has yummy food, great movies, and amazing staff!
Awesome place magical! Was nice to have drinks available and snacks
Fantastic venue for shows! Mad props to the sound guys. Every show is amazing, sound is wonderful throughout and lighting is great. Oh yeah mad props to the lighting guys too!
Best place to catch a live show
Such a cool old theatre that is still a thriving part of downtown SLO I encourage you to catch a concert there
Not a bad place to see a concert just be sure to get their early or you have no chance of being near the front
Love the movie theater seats. Sound was surprisingly good. Came down from the Bay for a show and definitely would like to come back.
Quaint artdeco theater seating about 900. Serving food and beverages but dont expect much. Good acoustics. Parking nearby.
They just had a free showing of The Polar Express for kids and have been getting amazing shows recently. Ive lived on the Central coast my whole life and have nothing but good memories :)
A true time piece and SLO icon. This theater is beautiful and I am amazed at how many performers come through. Its in a great location thats a bit away from the main downtown traffic. It is also next to plenty of great resturants including a bbq spot and sushi bar. The popcorn could be more flavorful.
Ah, the old Fremont Theater. What a terrible waste. This beautiful old Art Deco beauty should be treated better than she is. Shes run down, rarely used for movies and the staff does their best with what they have (which isnt much). The problem is the ownership. They just dont have the money (or maybe the willpower) to fix up the old bird. The inside is beautiful, but its decayed and derelict, which is such a shame because its such a cool venue. I understand there are still performances there but who uses a movie theater just for that? As the only old theater left in the city, I think its just a shame the way it is.I hope things change in the future.
Great historical venue to catch an intimate concert. Small enough to feel like the artist is in your living room, yet large enough to bring Im some fun performers. Highly recommend!
They kicked me out last time but I deserved it
Great time at the show.
Typical theatre, nothing special. Minus a star for seating. Im a tall guy. It was uncomfortable. Minus another star for no air flow. Packed theatre was hot and stuffy
Awesome place for concerts.
Great place, very nostalgic. Not many places one can go buying a general admission ticket and stand front row.
Beautiful art deco theater well maintained with excellent acoustics, clean restrooms, friendly staff, and great shows. Classic!
Wasnt what I thought it would be. But it was okay
Fremont is a fun old style theater which was turned into a concert/event venue in the past few years.
Such a fun place, for kids and adults! The movies may not be Imax, and the concessions are pretty standard fare. But the experience at this theater is so special you wont even notice those things. An architectural gem too. I try to bring the whole family here once every couple months for a weekend matinee. If you havent had the pleasure of watching a movie at the Fremont yet, definitely do so.
Great venue, great staff, wonderful fundraiser! Highly recommended.
Is there a place to put six stars? The Fremont is the most classic place in San Luis Obispo. It has so much class and awesomeness that it has been saved from being closed I dont know how many times. Just go there and check out all the old school designs everywhere. Its huge and theres a grip of seats everywhere so its a little cramped by todays movie seating standards. But all kinds of groups and comedy acts and shows all come to the spot. Its well loved by everyone in town and anyone who comes by
Very cool old theater.
Truly a most mystical, endearing & serindipidous Day at the classic Fremont Theatre. Took my sweet little High School Sweetheart Wife there for our 7th year Anniversary today to see the classic Irish movie - the Quiet Man during the last day of the famed annual SLO Film Festival (our 1st time). We were first in line to buy tickets, then all of a sudden a very kind Lady who had a Pass for 2 more got us in for Free. Then an old Fellow Irishman Friend whom had recently returned from a trip to Ireland, just happened to show up from out of Nowere the same time. We all sat together & had a splendid Time at this beautiful Retro venue. The Atmosphere there & Personnel, along with the Festival Volunteers were Second To None. Then we went home to the aroma of Wifeys fantastic Corned Beef & Cabbage simmering in the Crock Pot, awaiting for our delicious St. Patricks Day Dinner. Thank you again Wilda & Tom, as well as the Fremont for making our St. Pattys Day Anniversary that much more special. A truly unforgettable Time. Tell me now, If Life isnt truly Grand !
Yes - Keys to Ascension in the placeÉpic show !!!!
Best music venue in town
Love going to the Fremont for concerts and movies. Historic & wonderful setting for shows.
Love the theater & the concert was wonderful...need to breathe
Great venue. Very spacious and comfortable. I have attended many shows there and have never had a bad time.
They get some amazing acts, but the place was built as a more conventional theater, and as such there is not much space for dancing.
Great venue for a concert. Seats are old but comfortable. Sound quality is great.
We have seen some great acts at this theater. The Fremont is a local landmark. If you see a favorite act is playing here, go!
