The view is great. Many trails to choose from. You can even go to the Alum Rock Park from here. The only reason I didn’t give a 5-star rating is that the trials are not shaded. Could be too hot in the summer. Bring some water with you.

Great park with amazing views - of neighboring hills, san jose and even south bay. The trails rarely stay on the same level due to the nature of the terrain, so prepare for some elevation gain. Very little shade, so wear sunscreen and/or wide hat in summer months.

Beautiful views! You can see most of the San Jose area, and part of the San Francisco Bay. Especially stunning at sunset. Even if youre not gonna take a hike, it is worth the drive to sit at the top.

Wonderful views of the South Bay. Parking is limited. Since you start on the top of the mountain be prepared to hike back up. There is little to no shade. Bring water. It is not very busy typically. However watch out for mountain bikers sharing the same multi use trails.

Just what it sounds like: an open space on top of a hill. On the plus side it has a great view of the valley. There is a short hiking trail in a circle. There is also a much longer trail that connects to Alum Rock Park. Overall pleasent but not extensive.

Great place to come during quarantine. Just be mindful that there are no dogs allowed because there is livestock and horses are allowed to be in the trail. It is a total of about 14 miles to do the whole trail so please bring lots of water if you plan to take it on. You can see all of San Jose from here and if you take the trail to the left of the parking lot you are able to see San Fransisco.

Many good hiking trails for different levels. I would go early in the morning or during the fall/spring seasons to avoid the heat (not lot of shades). Try the Boccardo Spur Trail to reach the top and good view of down town San Jose.

Open space on a beautiful mountain. Pretty close to city, only 30mins drive from city center. This place got a great view of the city. Beautiful during night, best place to watch the sun set from across the valley! Pretty cold during cloudy days. Mountain roads are fun to drive! Only challenge is to get some good pics while driving uphill, there is no parking along the way !

Amazing place to visit near to San Jose. The narrow roads between hills surrounded by beautiful clouds. Its breathtaking place. After reaching the top park your car and walk and enjoy the hike. There were some cyclists you come across. I think its little rush during weekends. Must visit place between 10 am to 3 PM. Thanks to our friend Ramu for showing this awesome place.

I love running the trails at Sierra Vista Open Space! Many hike or ride their mountain bikes here. It’s best to go before 8 am during the Summer as some of the trails have little shade. The rest of the year anytime is good. There is a small parking lot that can accommodate about 20 cars. There are no restrooms.

One of the best location to catch sunrise in the south bay area. The area is open, and plenty of parking. Just keep in mind they only open at 8:00 A.M.. But keep in mind if you go beyond the parking, there is some narrow one lane road ahead... Just be careful.

It has atleast 4 different trails for all types of difficulty and length. With some famous view points overlooking the South Bay area and good parking, it is a delight to your eyes as well as the hiker inside you. Alum Rock provides good connectivity and a number of trails which should be experienced if you are near South Bay. Mission peak is obviously the most famous and strenuous, but this can be the second best.

This is really nice place for hiking. Specially if you go around sun set time, you can see entire silicon valley. Depending on the clouds you may end up catching spectacular sunsets. There is a reasonably big parking lot near the trail head, you will generally find parking there. There are several trails, there is a trail which ends up in view point, where you can see entire bay area, on a clear day you can even see San Francisco and Oakland skyline.

Nice view at 2,000 feet. Trails for hiking, trash cans, information board. Small parking lot and no bathroom or water. What do people do when they need to go to the bathroom? Bushes are not very big and trees are sparse and small. I guess you have be daring on the trail to relieve yourself. Watch out for ticks and stay on the trail.

My wife & I visited for the 1st time 1/17/2020. We enjoyed it. Between 1130am-3pm, we hiked the Upper Calaveras Fault Trail, the Sierra Vista Trail & the Aquila Loop Trail. Very green. Snowy peaks in the nearby distance. Saw 2 coyotes. Lots of birds. Flowers coming into bloom. We had lunch at some of the benches & picnic tables they have setup. Some parts of these trails are steep but nothing too bad for us. It was worth the drive. We got a ride share in & out. There is a parking lot on the west end.

A fantastic place to get sweeping mountain vistas, city views, and sunset shots. There are different trails to choose from. Hike, bike, or ride a horse...one can their pick. Trails from here also connect to Alum Rock Parks Boccardo trail. Parking is limited so it could be a bummer. The road up to this place is a narrow mountain road. One can see lots of cows and horses on the way up. If you want to drive in the back roads, Sierra Rd connects to the road going to the Calaveras County Park. Sierra Rd.
