Easy to miss the turn to get into this area, when driving the car. There isnt a sign that clearly indicates this destination. Parking is only in residential area, so I could imagine its really hard to find parking on the weekends when people go visit this area. I recommend either walking or taking a bicycle to this destination if you come on the weekends. The walk through the trees is very nice. Two professional photo sessions were going on when we visited. If you want to take pics without anyone in the background, then you have to go on a weekday when the weather isnt that inviting. If you go on the weekend on a sunny day, then the place will attract many people, and your pictures will show people in the backdrop. My first time here, and wont be my last!
Picturesque location. The walk around area is very relaxing. Lot of opportunities for photos.. We went in the evening around 5 so that we have couple hours till the sunset. Parking is available on the street... Overall nice place to spend an evening.
Such a beautiful trail with amazing views of the bridge especially on a clear day. Nice little hike down to the Sutro Bath and caves. Since the weather hasnt been so good and there was a mudslide during the last storm, some areas are blocked off. Im sure they will reopen once its sunny again. But the walk along the costal trail is breathtaking. You really feel at peace here. Love this spot!
Nice little adventure to get out of the South Bay. Beautiful scenery and lots of nature to take a time out. Trail is pretty narrow and not ideal for our current social distancing protocols. Walking around 5pm was very busy with lots of walkers present. Be ready for lots of incline and maybe not ideal for stroller/wagons due to narrow pathways. But overall it was beautiful.
Let me clear when I say that this hike is NOT easy. If you stay on the normal path then yes most people can do it without breaking a sweat. If you decide up or down stairs than you are in for a work out.
We really loved this hike. The view from the hollywood sign is amazing. We have done this hike a few times already. Cant wait to do it again.
I took my family there for professional family photos and it was beautiful and a great experience
Such a cute spot, perfect for taking couply photos or going on a walk
Shoet but beautiful walk under towering eucalyptus trees. Make sure to bring a camera
An OK trail that leads to a better watershed area at the end. It is paved and has available parking on the side. On one side you have housing and the other has Andy Goldsworthys Wood line. You can definitely take you significant other with you down this trail. On a nice beautiful day it is even more better.
Nice walking trail on a moderate hill
Beautiful! And you might see a coyote!
Beautiful hike! Parking isnt bad and trails are super to read. Bathrooms spread out but there are a lot which is always good
Not great compared to other amazing presidio trails
There is a historical looking water drain or canal. I dont know how you call it. Its made with cobblestone. I would love to see it cleaned. Cause i feel that if it doesnt get cleaned. Its like neglecting Part of Presidio beauty and Hystory! But on the brite side, I truly believe they are doing a great on the whole property. I spoke with many many employees and I felt very welcomed. They where very helpful and Informative!!
A nice walk!!
The trail is pretty interesting when you go with your partner. Great place for a nice hike .
I use to walk on this path everyday for my commute to & from work. Its a well kept, paved path with beautiful nature views. In the morning, it can be foggy and Ive seen some coyotes lurking around. In the evening, especially in the winters, the path is dimly lit with old florescent lamp posts - didnt feel the safest, but I rarely encountered people on this path.
Very nice
It was wonderful to wander this trail with an old friend. She works in the park and gave me a great tour of the rich history of the area.
Nice use of trees to get one to look further up the trail.
Straight shot to hike from Main Post to Presidio Gate. Lovely paved path over bridge through meadow up along eucalyptus grove.
Love it calm and relaxing
Love this place. Great place for hiking or just stroll trough the woods and enjoy the fresh air with aroma from Eucalyptus trees. Love to hike in this area.
Lovers lane is a short walk that leads to several hiking trails
Hiking is fantastic here. Just....watch your step.
Another absolutely stunning hike on the Rim of the Valley trail today! Is there anything more beautiful than hiking after rain? However, theres a downside: part of the trail seemed to be washed out on the higher reaches and extremely treacherous as its very very steep. Wildflowers are out in full bloom!
Theres more to see if one is willing to hike around the neighborhood.
Ahh making my love in the bushes at lovers lame!
One of the great place to take pictures in San Francisco city. It has nice woody accents. You can get sun rays from trees if you timed it very well.
Meh, its a nice path but not that interesting.
Delightful area to walk or ride a bike in. Andy Goldsworthys Gold Line installation parallels the Lane. Be on the lookout for banana slugs and gorgeous flowers in the spring
Peaceful, but beware of cayotes.
Beautiful spot. We were here on Saturday evening and we met just 2 other people. So not so crowded! Good photo opportunity. Lovely walk in a quiet neighborhood.
Its just what it sounds like. A quiet, dark place to make out or just enjoy the scenery. I would recommend going there after dark if your looking for somewhere to get amorous with a friend.
Nice place for long walks
Love this trail. Very steep but it runs along the Andy Goldsworthy tree line which is beautiful!
Wow. These reviewers are completely wrong about the location and usage of this path judging by some of the photos and descriptions. First of all, Lovers Lane is a paved, lighted and fairly well trafficked biking and pedestrian path that cuts directly from the Presidio Blvd Gate to the heart of the Presidio, from which you can access the Crissy Field Beach and the Golden Gate Bridge. The pictured dirt path with the criss-cross logs? Yeah, thats not it. Thats called Wood Line, and its an earthwork by artist Andy Goldsworthy. The distinction is important, since bikers and walkers should use Lovers Lane rather than the dangerous Presidio Blvd roadway to descend into the Presidio. By confusing the it with Wood Line, and labeling it as a dark make-out spot, these reviewers are discouraging the use of the real Lovers Lane as a safe and useful route.Lovers Lane was named by the soldiers in the old days for its use as a fast route to get out of the Presidio and into the city to meet your lover. It wasnt a place to make out. Outsiders would have to pass the gate sentries to get to the path, which the sentries could see. What tourists today need to know about Lovers Lane is that is a well-lighted, well-maintained pedestrian/bike path that is a lot safer than trying to walk down or up twisty, narrow, heavily car-trafficked Presidio Blvd, which has no sidewalk and a barely adequate bike lane (on the uphill side only.)
Really cool spot and a great walk with your special someone. Just be sure to stray a little off the beaten path to find.
But at this time they have some of it dug up. If out for a walk, give it another few days. Watch out for the Grt Horn owl at Presido terr, Peregrine Falcon at Morton ball field.
Lovers lane is beautiful . Very rich in history.
Beautiful short stretch of an art piece that makes for good photoes a woodsy trail to the Palace of Fine Arts.
Beautiful place to meditate and admire!
Great place to go walking or on a run
It was lovely
Nice walk
Nice place for a walk
Nice hiking route to feel the breeze
Great for walking
This was perfect for photos!
Nice place for a walk.
Walked it with my soul mate ^~^ made a joke about how it would be funny to have a divorce lane and have the lane split xD
Beautiful stroll, very much enjoyed.
Nice pictures, parking is scarce
Clean trail to walk on enjoying the scenery in SF
Nice walk
Nothing fancy here, but worth the walk if leads to your destination.
Beautfil short hiking trails in the middle of the city
Loved it
Peaceful, serene, and gorgeous
Just beautiful
I would do this hike again
