Believe or not, there is “Lands End” which I did not know until last year’s US visit. Actually, it’s located in the Golden Gate San Francisco side, West of the bridge toward Pacific Ocean. Standing here viewing Golden Gate Bridge is so fabulous & gorgeous. It should be great at Sunrise and/or Sunset. Somehow, only few tourists around, so you can really relax to fully explore the natural beauty and the bridge.
Great spot to hike along the Beautiful scenery my family n friends took about 2 hour for the round trip from the parking lot near Cliff house with 5 years old .. people did have mask so thank you to all.Along the trail is Labyrinth is near the edge of the cliff, so you can see the Golden gate Bridge on the other side.Along the trails were black berries plants :)On clear day you can have great view of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge
Really nice trail. Was a little more crowded than I expected but it was a really beautiful view. There is a good amount of flowers and berries on the trail which made it more of a scenic trail. There are some off trails so If you like doing that, I suggest wearing good hiking shoes because some spots were really steep. Overall, I would go again.
This is a beautiful, pretty relaxed 2.5 mile hike that leads to a small beach. Nearly everyone was wearing masks, the weather was overcast, the air was crisp, and the scenery was incredible. There is a good amount of stairs on this hike, but it is pretty doable overall and definitely worth the effort! Also, there is a cool little labyrinth near the beach portion of the hike.
Great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and a short walk to China Beach. The beach was crowded so we just dipped our feet in and left. We sat on a bench and enjoyed the view on a day that was smoky everywhere else but not here! Nice trails snake around and through the golf course. I will definitely be back. There was a good amount of parking up just past the trailhead.
Okay here is my review about this place! After seeing photos in Google, we wanted to visit this place to see the rock circles which is very beautiful! Once you go to lands end trail youll be confused on which way to go. Eventually we figured it out. You need to follow rock beach
Sure is nice here. Love the smell of th ocean in the air. Lots of great walking paths and a beautiful view of the sea.
This trail is not for the faint of heart. It covers some drastic elevation changes. The woods are mystical and astounding. There are large eucalyptus groves and windswept evergreens. The soft horn in the bay and views of the Golden Gate beside the ocean are the stuff of countless films and Television series. There are many landmarks to discover I would suggest getting a map. There is a labyrinth on the top of a cliff and old decaying structures below in the sand on the coastline.
It is good 2 mile walk from the parking area. Beautiful view of Golden gate bridge. No toilet facility.
Great views, but only porta-potties open right now bathroom wise because of COVID-19. Also, the inside portion that usually has a café is closed.
Beautiful lookout spot. Highly recommend visiting at sunset.
Nothing matches this location on a nice, clear, sunny day. Simply spectacular, Im a native Californian, and it never gets old to come here.... now, battling traffic, parking, etc may reduce the charm, but nevertheless, its still worth it. Many lifelong memories coming here. Make it memorable for yourself.
Went to park and have a carry out meal with an old friend. We had been on the beach earlier at Great Hwy & judah.... Air was full of smoke and tragedy but the salt in the ocean helps disguise the tears that flow; the salt purifies the air, soothes the aching muscles, eases the the troubled mind. Overhead, the moon was orange and out of focus, yet it was a blue moon. The 2nd full moon in one month. Good medicine. The Parking lot was clean, not crowded at all, quiet and safe. Good day in an awful year!
Having a slice of heaven in our own back yard. I Love it here! So Beautiful it is. If you have never walked the trailsAround here you should really consider it. I mean it is not humanly structured but the nature of the area in places is breathtaking. There is some patches of poison oak so be on guard. Stay safe and play smart! Thank You
Excellent views on a clear day. Gift shop a must if you want to learn the history of the area.
Super accessible lookout of the ocean along with what remains of the Sutro Baths. Plus, you have access to all of the Lands End trails right there! Its also pretty close to Sutro Heights, the Cliff House, Ocean Beach, and Golden Gate Park.
Beautiful clean beach and park area with medium hiking difficulty. Good place to see some wild flowers and local birds, and a good hike along the shoreline thatd once been the lone train track route to this Lands End Beach.
Sweeping views of the Pacific and Marin Headlands. Fair amount of parking in my opinion. Probably more so in these days of the Corona virus. On a Sunday a.m. around 9, able to pick a shady spot. Maybe a bit smoky view of Mt Tam...because of the fires?
Great for walking. Challenging to hike to beach. Mostly covid friendly
The hikes are great! Not super physically exerting, thought there are some tough parts. The beach is real nice, with all the cliffs in the background.
Lands end makes for a nice walk along the shore, with a beautiful view of the ocean in the background. Its fun to explore and make out the remains of sutro baths, imagining what may have stood there in the past. But be prepared for a lot of stairs, and a lot of wind. Dress properly!
When u park your car u get a choice to walk down the side of the cliff house to the water or walk to the right into the woods and follow a path which leads to beautiful views of the ocean and the Golden gate bridge with lil plaques of info about the area every couple min of walk.
Very cool place to explore. you can enter some old animal cages, and if you hike a bit up, theres a open fence where you can explore more... the walls are full of graffitis... i bet its more spooky in the evening/night. great place to explore and hike.. I chose the wrong day to explore, and I was dripping sweaty like a Lands End Lookout.
Great view. Really wonderful. Try to go before it gets too hot outside because the smell is far worse in the summer. And parking is insane.Still,Lands End Lookout is a must see and a great place to bring your out of town friends.
Great place to hike and relax. Enjoyed the ocean views and breeze. Bring your and walking shoes for the beautiful trails. The Sutro Baths Ruins are also here, and they are very interesting to see. It’s always cold because of the wind so make sure bring your jacket. The parking lot is free on the visitor center side but make sure you lock your car up.
Lands end. So beautiful. Free scenery. Family oriented. Couples dating, a must. Wedding or pictute op.
Excellent for an evening hike or bike ride -- not crowded on the weekdays so go then
Nice main defined trail, including a couple nice overlook areas over the entrance of the bay and different paths leading down to a small beach. One of the negatives though, was trying to find a parking spot initially. Each row had several cars waiting for anyone leaving and several cars just roving around trying to find open spaces. So, not the easiest. Once parked though, it didnt feel super crowded despite the packed parking lot (we went on a later Sunday afternoon). There was a steady stream of people early on, but by the time we left, around dinner time, there were several parking spots readily available.Would come back, just have to allow more patience and time to find a parking spot.
This place was peaceful, picture perfect, had free parking, and trails for hiking and biking. The weather is perfect mid July.
Its a beautiful scenic spot to visit with a view of Pacific ocean. There were not many people when I went here, so we could enjoy our time walking around the area.Better bring a good pair of sport or walking shoes to be able exploring the are comfortably. When visiting in the morning, you could experience a mysterious mist surrounding the area, the experience would feel so much different.
What a nice place to escape the city for a bit. They have a nice visitor center with good hot coco. The trails were wide and provide frequent places to stop and rest. Would stop by here again just to enjoy the views
Beautiful view and a great hike! The pace is also well maintained and friendly staff.
One of the most beautiful places that keeps you in awe! I thought it would be crowded but as many times as I’ve been there, it wasn’t! Parking isn’t a hassle. Lots of walking & climbing so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. I think it’s a great location for photography as well! Enjoy!!!
It was a beautiful clear day and I have never been more grateful to be able to go outside.
Easy hike/walk that can be made more challenging if you want to go down to Mile Rock Beach. Stunning views that will make you grateful this place exists.
A must-visit in San Francisco. It has a lot of spots for guests to stop to take pictures and enjoy the scenes. This Lookout also gives you a view of Golden Gate Bridge from the western side. Always watch children for safety. Most parts of the cliff dont have fences and very sloppy. There is a lot of parking space and a public service mobile restroom despite its uncleanliness.
I grew up in the city and even before it was a National Park, Ive loved the area that is Lands End. The natural beauty and constantly changing views of the Pacific are always breathtaking. Add to that the historical aspects of the area with the Golden Gate, Sutro Baths, China Beach, Veterans Hospital, the Legion of Honor, the Labyrinth, the USS San Francisco, and all of the other things Ive forgotten, and you have a memorable experience. If I were to take someone to visit San Francisco who had never been and can only take them to one place, I would take them to Lands End.The only reason I do not give Lands End 5 stars is because of the changes that have come over the last couple of years. Unfortunately, much of the beauty of Lands End has now become overshadowed by prevalent graffiti, refuse along the trail, overflowing portable toilets, and vehicle break-ins. It is difficult to see the decline.
Breath taking views, decent parking facilities, nice trails, toilets closed (hopefully temporarily)
There are trails you can lose yourself in. The beaches are not my favorite here. This is more of a hiking spot. Bring water and wear comfortable sneakers
A beautiful view of the Pacific ocean. Along with a great museum. Nice place to hang out and go.
This is a perfect highlight in San Francisco to enjoy the landscape.Far from the hustle bustle of the city.Just a little walk down the parking area, you can reach this beautiful sighting. There is a restaurant out there to enjoy the landscape while dining. Another must visit place to enjoy the pacific.
What a wonderful park. I enjoyed the buffalo and laying in a field of small daisies. Parking can be a challenge but thats how most parks are.
Great place to visit. Expect more then a few steps going down to the beach area. The walk back up is harder for some but this beach is so worth it with the scenery and all.
Truly spectacular. Bring a picnic. Bring the dogs and kids. Great way to spend a day. Dont forget all the photo opps!
Totally love Lands End!!! It can be very breezy or flatout cold!!!! NOT TODAY!!! LOL
My Favorite place in SF for sunsets. The Pacific winds blow directly on your face. I usually do meditation or talk to myself here.
A great place to take a long walk, with beautiful sightseeing. Ive always thought it was great for all ages of friends and family.
Fantastic views with a nice hike to get away from the loud Bay area traffic. The lookout point itself can be very windy but gives you great views of the ocean, the golden gate bridge, and other islands. Great date spot and tourist attraction.
Very cool spot to go on a small hike to a historic, native american site on the edge of the city. The baths, the rocks, the view of the open Pacific ocean are all breathtaking. A small hike down to the baths is defenately encouraged. Its accessible all the way through the lookout. Parking can be a bit tough during peak hours.
The views are beautiful and you can just sit and listen to the ocean. Its very tranquil.
Great view suggest walking from the far end towards the bridge. Bring your camera. You can stay on the main path which is fairly easy or walk down to the beach neat the labyrinth. Restrooms only at the far end away from the bridge.
Hawks, trails, and ocean views! Lands End is a beautiful place to hike around. Just try to go early in the day.
This is a beautiful place for a walk. Most of the paths are paved but there are some really cool trees and a great view that includes the Golden Gate Bridge
Gorgeous views of the Golden Gate Brifge, the entrance of the Bay and the ocean. Watch the cargo ships go by. Great place for a casual hike, dogs welcome. Some parts of the path get tight, so dont forget to being your mask. Great for kids, adults, and photographers.
Beautiful scenic spot on the most western tip of San Francisco. The hike is only about 2 miles roundtrip but with many places to stop and take pictures and enjoy the beauty of the area. At the end there’s a rock maze/labyrinth to see and behold!
Great place to explore, many different lookout points.
This is one the coolest places in San Francisco. Whenever I am feeling depressed, I come out to chill near the ocean front. The small hike to the labyrinth gives you the enough blood pumping needed for rejuvenating yourself.
I think Im going to let all of my photos and videos speak for themselves about the Lands End Lookout area absolutely beautiful but shell see that with these pictures and videos that Im about to post. If youre a tourist do you have to stop by this place if theres any place you check out on the coast while youre here this is the place you want to go. From old war relics from World War II beautiful sunsets 2 swimming in the surf surf fishing. And everything else that the coast has to offer. It is all here
This is like literally one of the best places to visit in San Francisco. I mean the whole bay area is amazing but I think this place makes it much more beautiful. Very relaxing and healing.
Scenic views, great easy to intermediate difficulty workout.
Amazing on a clear and sunny day.
Awesome nature trail with wonderful views of the ocean and the golden gate bridge. Be prepared for all weather conditions, glad I dressed in layers as the weather can change rapidly. Stop and look around often and let the sounds, scents and views of nature be your guide
Wonderful walk! A couple steep and uneven stretches, a few flights of steps in both directions, but plenty of areas to stop and rest. Path varies in width from about 3-7 feet across, mostly dirt trail. Gorgeous overlooks of the ocean, the bay, and the Golden Gate. Not stroller or wheelchair accessible. Dog friendly.
Beautiful place for a simple hike with awesome views. This is a tourist spot so there was lots of people but not too congested. Parking lot across the street from the visitor center was free and very convenient.
Great sunset spot. Panoramic view of the bay and a rocky beach. Check the sunset time to catch the exact moment that last bit of sun plunges into the pacific. On the slightly lower portion is a labyrinth made of large pebbles. A steep but relatively short trail down to the lookout. The dirt trail can become very muddy and slippery during rain season.
Been missing my trips to Lands End as of late, and this quarantine has got me reminiscing about this beautiful lookout point. Not only is Lands End Lookout an extraordinary vista point within San Francisco, but its also a functional visitors center and souvenir shop. This lookout point is often the start of many hikes and exploring expeditions for those who visit Lands End and the Sutro Bath Ruins located down below. Theres a large parking lot right next to the lookout, but it tends to fill up quickly as its a very popular tourist attraction.Inside youll find tons of souvenirs, trail and site maps, and a small café. The café is small and doesnt offer a ton as far as food goes, but its a nice spot to grab a coffee and a snack. There are also restrooms located on the outside of the building that are open during regular business hours (probably not during this time due to COVID-19).The views from the lookout are absolutely stunning as you can probably imagine. Youll have incredible views of the Sutro Bath Ruins and the beautiful California coastline. For a visitors center, the interior space is actually quite small but still effective. Theres so much information thats readily available inside of the center, so if youre a history buff, its definitely worth a visit.
I really loved trekking here. The view was so beautiful and the scenery of the Golden Gate Bridge was great too. It was cold and wind when I was there, but I still got a nice experience anyway. Before starting trekking, you better go to the restroom first because theres no restroom available along the way.
Amazing spot for ...anything.. come for sunset, sunrise, lunch time.. youll have the views of a lifetime. Bring your significant other and theyll be grateful.. forever!
Nothing shakes up the quarantine depression quite like the ocean. Wear a mask and give people plenty of space on the trails
Very nice Beach, lots of steps, make sure to bring walking shoes and some water.
This is a must-go if youre in the area and need a break from the hustle and bustle of every day life. this was the highlight of my trip! so beautiful and breathtaking! part of it is definitely quite the hike so wear appropriate shoes for sure
Beautiful. Just beautiful. My friend and I went around SF in a car wanting to see some sights. After some small research online, I found that Lands End Lookout was highly recommended for those visiting the bay area and want a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Man, wasnt that the truth. While we werent completely dressed to do some hiking to get to the lookout point, we very much enjoyed the walk and the beautiful scene it had to offer upon arrival. I highly recommend coming with your significant other, family, friends, ANYONE that would enjoy this fantastic view. Make sure to bring a light jacket in case you get cold from the winds! :)
Great walk and fantastic view. If you are not comfortable with big dogs, be aware that some people bring them dogs here without leash.
Some of my favorite views of the ocean while staying in the Bay area. Also, fascinating history of the old public bath house that used to be on the edge of the water. You can see old concrete foundations and stairs of the original building.
I find it to be very relaxing its peaceful as well as gorgeous. I can be mad with angry thought and leave with a clear mind sit on a cliff while the sun sets its a memory well cherished
Amazing views. Must visit for small hikes and pacific ocean view
Absolutely incredible you really need to carve out an hour or two, grab a quart of water, some protein snacks, rubber souled shoes, a hoodie or windbreaker, a head covering and gloves if you run cold.Bring a fully charged phone and be prepared to take lots of pictures.
Visited the Bay Area for the first time and this was easily one of my favorite places. The breeze was warm and the views was amazing. Id be sure to wear running shoes and active gear next time.
Beautiful place to have a walk and listen to and watch the waves crashing in. You can walk around the ruins or on the beach itself or go along the trail which will take you to the legion of honor and golf course with great views along the way. Theres a gift shop with small snack store right at the parking lot, but also the Cliff House is right near by and theres also Louis
Hidden heaven of California..We Visited this place at 12 but still this place is cold...The golf course is there in lands end trail..Good place for trekking..We have here beach, trail, good ocean view in one place...The place is crowded..We should be careful if we are coming with kids because the trail has up and down it can be little dangerous...The view is too good.. Photogenic place...So many things to do..We can spend entire day here..We can see Golden gate bridge here..Most of the time the bridge will be covered with fog..
If youre into hiking a short distance for a fantastic view of the golden gate bridge
Nice place with hiking trails but parking is bad. People do not observe proper parking etiquette. They will steal parking lots from people who r waiting in line!
The area is stunning no matter when you visit. Each type of weather is beautiful for a different reason. It’s a great place to set off on a hike of any length! The Sutro Baths are just a short walk away, one of my favorite spots in the city. The staff is friendly and the bathrooms are really clean and convenient. The gift shop is so cool! So many books and products I haven’t seen elsewhere. I always feel inspired when I come in here! Plus, it’s very educational!
Very nice place for a good hike and beach play
- It’s a great place for a walk.- There is not much for picnic but the place is great for your new Facebook cover.- The view of the bridge is amazing too.
The views and trails are beautiful, as one might expect from the area. The only problems that I have are the restrooms and the security. Theres only one set of porta-potties near the start of the trails and the building with the restroom is closed during COVID-19. Not to mention, there are also signs of frequent break-ins in the parking lots. Other than that, I would definitely recommend a visit.*pet friendly*
Very beautiful place for a walk with a view of the ocean as well as the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. You can walk town to the remains of the public pool. There’s a visitor center with a gift shop and bathroom and free parking. Just be extra cautious not to leave anything valuable in your car (not even cloths or a hat) or someone will break into your car. We had nothing in our car, but when we parked my husband opened the car trunk to throw in some maps and paper, when we came back our small back window was shattered and they had reached into the trunk to see if there’s anything worth taking there.
This is a beautiful place! If you find yourself in the great city of San Francisco, you may find yourself wanting to get away from the crowds and back to nature. This is a great place to visit. Walk northbound from the visitor center and you will get an amazing view of the Pacific ocean and the Golden Gate bridge. Check it out!
Beautiful views! Great trails! Next to the Cliff House.
Great spot. On a clear day this is the best place to catch a sunset on the whole peninsula.
Very nice view. Good times with some good people. It was a little warm and then quickly cooled down once the sun set. I would enjoy going again. There was a lot of stairs and steep hills but it was definitely walk down them when I show up again.
Great views with a little bit of everything. You get to see forests, military history, mountains, the ocean, the city, and the bridge. Be advised there are a lot of stairs/hills if you want to go down to the labyrinth or mile beach. I would wear comfortable walking shoes with good traction.
Gorgeous view; very windy. Land’s End is aptly named. Kids loved the place... enough to “break the rules” and walk down a “secret path”... my kids are young and have an active imagination... what can I say
Beautiful hike with lovely views. Lots of parking! You can start at the Lands End trailhead and hike all the way to Baker beach. They also have restrooms and a to-go cafe near the parking lot.
Absolutely gorgeous views with an easy hike makes this a great Sunday afternoon activity
This is literally my favorite place on earth to visit. When I lived in SF for a few years I would walk there early in the morning every day. I was lucky enough to live very close. One of the most spiritual, beautiful and healing places I’ve ever been. I long to visit.
Nice place filled with sunshine. Easy to park even on Saturday.
Awesome view of the ocean and the golden gate. Even though we went in November when the weather is cold and windy, the view was breathtaking. Will definitely visit again.
