Definitely worth the time to check this place out. If you go during the week you can take a long beautiful walk from the main parking lot to the border fence at the beach. Very quit, and secluded. The beach is beautiful and the area is surprisingly very clean. Lots of Border Patrol agents, who are all very nice. You can also rent horses and ride along the sandy beach. Cool place to explore, and the new wall system separating the United States and Mexico is impressive.

A beautiful, if not super duper hot, walk. Right next to the border fence, Tijuana, Mexico is in view. If you’re in San Diego, it’s worth a short trip down. Just don’t touch the border fence! It’s under constant patrol.

There is really not too much to this state park but I liked it. First time seeing the mexican border was something different to see. There is some dolphins every now and then, not too close to the shore. I found the park to be a little bit small for my liking specially since you are paying 7 dollars if you drive. Beach is quieter than the other side of imperial beach, the other side of the mexican border might not be.

Park here to walk to the border fence thats goes into the water, 6 rows of razor wire & a closed friendship park. Used to be nicer many years ago but most left overgrown n uninviting. Still see heaps of wet clothes in this area from folks who have crossed via ocean. They change into dry clothes n then move north into the system unseen.

Quite a touristic place. The trails South to the parking lot are prohibited unless you dont mind a little excitement like me. Border Patrol will stop you all of the time but gently ask you to keep moving because of motorcycle activity and patrolling. The 2 mile walk to the park is a must to enjoy the full experience. Like always when walking trails take some food and water and enjoy your stepping.

This places is opened for foot traffic all week! But of you want to drive to the park, there is a small fee to bring your car and you can only do so on Friday-Sunday. The walk is not bad, maybe a mile and a half each way. Once we got there... just seeing the wall was impressive. The scenery of the beach was something else. The park is well maintained and bathrooms were clean. Next time I’d go on the weekend when cars are allowed to pass.

One of the few places in the west coast to catch a-frames, solo. It’s a cold water break, and wind can shut it down quick. Get there early. Worth it. State park is usually closed, ( floods, mud, quail crossing, u name it), but worth the hike. Can access by walking south of sea coast, ib, but along the journey u may find the sloughs. Which is a deep water break and can tower.

One of the most underrated beaches in SoCali. Maybe its due to the depressing wall that separates Cali & Mexico. Maybe its due to people feeling uncomfortable being watched by USA military helicopters roaming the sky to spot illegal citizens. In spite of the odds, if you look past those i guarantee that youll enjoy the beach at this park. its very beautiful and pretty empty. Perfect place to get away from humanity to clear your thoughts. The houses and buildings across the broder looks nice. The wall becomes see thru as it touches the sandy beach where you can see peaceful mexicans having a good time. On the American, there are only a handful of people. I went on a Wednesday and there was nobody on the american side of the border. Through the odds, the beach is beautiful. If you come with a clear mind not thinking political, youll enjoy it.

Wildlife and flowers aplenty on the 5 mile roundtrip hike from the parking area to border marker 258, originally #1. Its a shame the park has fallen into disarray. This is where mexico, the US and Pacific Ocean all meet. Its ironic, how the ocean gets to live in both countries.

Walk to the fence is on the longer side, but affords amazing views, albeit with helicopters patrolling overhead. Very interesting to see the contrast between the American and Mexican sides. This side was an empty, natural beach with the occasional horseback rider, with border patrol parked near the fence to ensure no one get too close. Tijuana was a colorful, lively beach town

If you come bring enough water for you it is hot and be careful for snakes. Dogs/pets are not allowed so just keep them at home . Maybe service animals could come but don’t mark my words I am not sure and I do not know. But you could also ride a horse for a fee for 30 to 60 min only of the only shorelines/ beach that could have horses on the California beach Pacific Ocean shorelines. By they way the Border patrol agents are everywhere so keep this in mind. I would just make sure you bring you passport or green card with you Incase you are apprehend by one of the agents at the border park preserve.

I ride my bike regularly to Border Field State Park from my house in Imperial Beach. The road to Friendship Circle, within the Park has been open for a few weeks now, but is closed until it dries out each spring. Access is open prior to that but getting to Friendship Circle is impossible except on foot or horseback via the beach. So you might as well consider Friendship Park Closed, except in summer.

We had to walk about a mile to get to the beach. This park is right on the border with Mexico. You can see part of the wall built to keep people from crossing over. There is a friendship garden with a lighthouse on the Mexican side that US people can access between 10-2:00 and there is a number to call. I do not have the number to include. The most southwest point is noted with a small sign on the mesa near the border. The beach is lovely.

Just had to go to see the Great Big Beautiful Wall while in California. Found the entrance to Border Field State Park and was given helpful comments on where to find the beach where the wall enters the ocean. I parked in the car park at the International Friendship Park and walked to the top of the dune system overlooking the ocean. Had a friendly chat with a Border Force Officer who commented on various ways, illegal migrants and refugees use to enter the USA including jet-skis by travelling several miles out to sea beyond the range of their night vision goggles and binoculars. He also pointed out why it was too dangerous to attempt to swim around the ocean wall extension due to rips and eddies that often drowned people attempting to swim to the USA.

Although the roads were closed we walked down to the ocean which was about 3/4 of a mile than another 1/4 on the sand to get to the border wall. The closer we got to Mexico the dirtier and smellier if became but overall was still worth the effort people of poor health probably would not want to make this treck if they open the road again its still would be a challenge for those of poor health. We did see a lot of horses which was nice and for those riders that stayed off of The walking path I thank you because there was quite a bit of horse feces on the people walking path which again made this an unpleasant situation do to odor and the avoidance of the horse feces
