Cute little hole in the wall theater hidden in the Horton Plaza downtown. Small and cozy. Because of the size there would not be any bad seating you could see the stage great from every angle. First time going will definitely be back for sure!! By the way the actors and actress was very talented and the musical was great.
A wonderful venue to watch great plays. Easy to find, plenty of parking at Horton Plaza, set fee of $8 with theater validation, a bargain, considering downtown parking fees. The theater is small; one enjoys great views of the stage from any seat. It gives one the feeling of being part of the play.
This theater is so involved in the community. They welcome the local artists and they are able to perform pieces theyre passionate about. The restrooms are always clean and everytime Ive been there the people working the bar are so kind.
Downstairs downtown location in Horton Plaza. Excellent productions - have most recently enjoyed another Hersh Felder (Beethoven). There are multiple theaters, floors and entry doors which can be confusing. Small venues so Seating is generally good. Lobby is super small and can be crowded. Lines and service for beverages/snacks can be long, but you are able to bring into the theatre with you.Box office staff are great. Think the ushers are volunteers so some more helpful than others but pleasant.Ticket prices are reasonable for the quality of productions. Great place to see shows in downtowns SD.
Great theater but Im hearing impaired and cant always understand the dialog. I was refused headset device once by Sal and it was really embarrassing because he chose to ignore me while serving drinks. Thirsty customers just wanted to get their drinks and snacks and all agreed that I was holding up the line. One guy started recording me saying that he knew what I was was up to. I just left the theater. Didnt visit again for years until I had a friend playing in a show who I wanted to support.
Its a great mini theater for small scale drama productions. Really deserves more love
My wife and I had a wonderful time here. The theater has a very intimate feel and all the seats feel close to the stage.
The performances were delightful and the seating lends itself to good viewing wherever you sit.
Saw Fun House there... its and interesting story about my daughter becoming a lesbian and a father hiding the fact that hes gay. There are kids in the play and its a musical. Was actually extremely funny and touching. The facility itself was nice. Production Crews the great job. And the house staff were very nice people.
Intimate little theatre! Delightful acoustics and shows. Only downside is a lot of down stairs. First from the street/ plaza level to the box office and then down to the theatre! Cute little snack bar too!
The theater was nice but the parking situation whereby you (or some of us) end up having to walk through the abandoned Horton Plaza mall at night after a play is scary!!! We had a guy suddenly appear out of the shadows and follow us, me and my 80 year old disabled mother. No one around to ask for help. Will not go back.
Its literally an underground venue! Classy & fun :^)
Great seats. Very personal. A tremendous experience!
This is a great theater. It is small and every seat gets the attention of the artist on stage. Its almost like you are getting a command performance, you can look the actor in the eyes. I met people before, during, and after the show that had me laughing like we were old friends. Spend the money, have a good time, and enjoy life like only the theater can provide.
Small, intimate and cozy. I loved that every seat had a good view.
Clean restrooms and seats. There plenty of parking at Horton Plaza. Every seat is a great one since the venue is small.
Saw Lila Downs there - good atmosphere, great show.
Carmen Amons costume design is absolutely phenomenal. Patrice Amons assistant directing definitely brought the play together as well. 10/10 would watch again!
Watched Matilda... Theater was perfect for the production. The concierge was incredibly sweet & helpful when our tickets/seats were messed up.
Been here many times enjoying Music & plays with friendly staff
Everything is perfect except that theres no Wi-Fi on the 1st floor.
Great venue. They offer $8 parking at Horton Plaza so its easy to park and walk to the theater. They have a couple of snack bars inside for drinks and snacks. Inside is very nice and seats are comfortable.
Hold These Truths was excellent. Was more than what I was expecting!
Great stage for many types of theatre. Small food service area. Lounge area with interesting displays.
Great venue. Small and every seat is good.
There are no bad seats in the house. Small, intimate theater with two levels. We sat at the top and I swear the actors were looking right at us the entire performance. At least thats what I though until my friend told me they were trained to look up but cannot actually see the seats because of the blinding lights. haha. Dont come hungry. While they do have a small cafe with small bites, food selection is little to be desired.
They have such a variety of great shows here.
Love this theater. Recently remodeled and looks great. The new staircase is pretty but a poor design for anyone with sight or mobility issues.
Saw Hersey Felder perform Chopin. Absolutely Brilliant.
Saw another Hershey Felder play. Fantastic
Ive seen many a good show here. SWEAT was an absolute stand out.
Easy parking at Horton Plaza, take your parking ticket for validation. Elevator at East end of mall can take you directly down to the theater!
I saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat put on by Arms Wide Open. This venue was fantastic for that particular performance, and even accommodated an auction in the lobby.
Nice theater. Very intimate setting.
This theatre never fails to amaze me. Their plays are always great and the staff is friendly.
I have always enjoyed this small, comfy theater and Ive been coming here for years! However, they remodeled and went up on their season ticket prices tremendously! For over 10 years weve had season tickets but now we cant afford it. What a shame!
I was surprised by the outside appearance, but it actually is very nice small theater !!!
Weve never seen a bad show at the Lyceum! Amazing local talent is always professional. The theater validates for easy parking at the Horton Plaza parking garage. Its a wonderful date night for you and your love!
Had a great time at the theater last night! What a great show and what a great venue! There are no bad seats in this house!
An excellent venue for live theater. Very intimate atmosphere.
Very nice food options, pre-show
Very modern and comfortable with a nice bar
Great place for theater performances. Acoustic could be better.
Great theater, convenient location plenty of parking. Horton Plaza, nearly abandoned and kind of creepy, has been sold and will be redeveloped. The Lyceum recently renovated and looks incredible.
Intimate venue, not a bad seat in the house.
Good theatre. Excellent repertory company.
I enjoyed the Jazz/BalletSong of Songs.
Always good rep.
The venue is nice, the parking in downtown San Diego is difficult, but what a great performance by Hershey Felder!
Great shows, helpful and pleasant staff, very avant guard
Saw a great show. I dont think theres a bad seat in the house!
Good audio, good theater size, comfortable seats...Free Beer Fridays!
When they close Horton Plaza I hope they leave this theater. Great seating. We saw the Wizard of Oz. Great performance.
Sweat the play was amazingly entertaining! A real
The remodeled theatre is great, and the many plays I have seen there are always interesting and well done.
Intimate venue with great plays. I loved the California Youth Conservatory Theatres production of Billy Elliott. A few years back I saw Hair. Below the street and somewhat labyrinthine, especially with construction going on right now. Be prepared for no cell reception inside.
Very enjoyable
Great theater with multiple stages and spaces. Its right under Horton Plaza so parking is convenient especially in downtown SD.
Was very nice, seating was comfortable. They did have a issue with the lights, but all in all was an enjoyable experience
Recent upgrades make this theater A+. Beware if you need an elevator. Slow, slow. You could miss the performance.
Fabulous place to see a musical show
A downtown theater with a variety of entertainment; many good plays, dance performances, art displays in the lobby. Come enjoy!
I love the Lyceum! Theyve redone the inside and it is beautiful. The outside, with the Escher-esque stairs and mosaicked obelisk was already lovely. And the San Diego Repertory Theatre, which makes its home here, is also delightful. Thought-provoking and/or fun plays and musicals, unfailingly friendly helpful staff, and adult beverages sold and allowed into the theatre in adult sippy cups. Ive mightily enjoined many an evening here.
Intimate theater where every seat has excellent views. Recently remodeled this theater has some top class performances. . Park close by in horton plaza.
Great venue so enjoyable the space well-designed and a very nice production!
I actually had knee room at this theater
This amazing little theater is NOT even on the same wavelength as Horton Plaza. An unexpectedly intimate spot to catch a play or musical in the heart of the Gaslamp. Under construction, but I hope the spiral staircase and cool vintage signage goes untouched.
Nice theater with a big parking lot.
This theater is different from others Ive been to. Its part of the Horton Plaza, but on the outskirt near the NBC building. The theater is below floor level.Prior to entering the theater/stage area, they have a lobby waiting area with many places to sit while waiting. They also sell a variety of snacks: candy, alcoholic beverages, chips, cookies etc...The seats arent the most comfy, even though they are cushioned.Every seat seems to have a nice view. Overall, I enjoyed visiting the Lyceum.
Its a nice theatre, not really a bad seat.
33-1/3 was a fabulous Joe
Intimate theater setting. Good view from any seat.
Ballet performance - excellent
Intimate performance space.
Cutting edge plays! Thought provocative!
Great! Very enjoyable
Loved the play. Appreciate the renovation.
Pretty little theatre with great seating, beautiful wooden flooring downstairs and a nice local artist with students display
Its a nice venue for seeing a show.
Great performance
The Lyceum is a beautiful theater below Horton Plaza. The productions I have seen there have been average, but the cast and staff are enthusiastic and wish to be the best they can.
Love this theater, great location, validated parking at Horton Plaza is $8.00.
Great stage performances in the heart of the city at Horton plaza
Great performance
I love going to plays here
Love Lyceum Theater, home of San Diego Repertory Theater.
The remodel looks nice
Great venue for live theatre. We saw Soul Doctor there.
Manifest Destinitis is hilarious. I enjoyed it very much. Clever dialog and rally timely. Pat K
Wonderful celebration of the 25th KUUMBAFEST. The lobby was transformed into an authentic African village market and the stage was vibrant with a parade of African heroes.
