The staff are super friendly and the service was great and fast.We loved their freshly baked bread (although they charge 7$ for it.. it’s not complimentary)But we didn’t like their traditional paella that much.. the taste is a bit plane and the sausage wasn’t good. The overall experience was good but overpriced (paella for 2 with 60$!!)
This place is first rate everything. The entire vibe of the place lets you know that they want your experience to be memorable. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The food is hot and delicious. The atmosphere is inviting. And the sangria will get you good and ready for dancing later. Will most certainly be back.
I came from out of town and got take out to our hotel room here two nights in a row..... Every single bite the food was beyond top notch- try the orange flan for a foodgasm- and specifically I (or we, myself and my girlfriend) wanna thank Holly and the rest of the host staff for being friendly, knowledgeable, and just so wonderful. Make this a must if you like food!
Excellent place, we came for 39th anniversary. It was Saturday and they dont accept reservations for Saturdays but when I mentioned the reason the guy on the phone accepted it. When we came to the place a host recognized the reservation and he remembered the reason and even the number of years. He made sure we got the best place and he relayed the reason to our server. His name is Tyler. The food is excellent. Its in a heart of Gaslamp district. Service is excellent. We enjoy the place.
Came to San Diego to get away since our vacations got cancelled. We were in Sevilla last year for our honeymoon. They hit the nail on the head. Food excellent. Wine was Great. Exceptional service...Thanks Rudy
A friend from San Diego treated us all for dinner here. At one of her favorite restaurants. The food, drinks, staff and atmosphere were great. I loved all of the appetizers that we tried. They were out of calamari, which made me sad. We all had 2 rounds of sangritas. That was my absolute favorite alcoholic beverage of all time....
Celebrated my 50 th birthday at cafe Sevilla in San Diego and it was awesome was greeted by the best server named destiny she was so knowledgeable and her suggestions were delicious beginning with appetizers, main course and great drinks to the best dessert. I highly recommend the food is authentic, flavorful and delicious. Best sangria I have ever had and seafood paella phenomenal. Thank you Destiny for your awesome service you made my birthday dinner awesome️We will definitely be back.
Decent food. Prices seemed a bit exorbitant for what we got. Probably wont be back, there are better tapas options out there.
Go see Allison! Wow....we had the PERFECT summer night. Paella Valenciana and Garlic Shrimp and Ratatouille with a well balanced red house sangria! Perfecto! We came to celebrate our 29th Anniversary during Covid. The table was protected and spaced apart. Acrylic between booths. Servers in masks and contactless pay. Brava! A wonderful night! Cannot wait to come back again and again! Thank you!
Omg! What didn’t we order... we were hungry lol. Cafe Sevilla is located in the DT area on 5the Ave. This is a new location which offers upstairs & downstairs seating. It is a Spanish tapes bar that actually does Spain justice. I’ve been to Spain and thoroughly enjoyed eating my way through the country. We always order a pitcher of red sangria. It is fresh, not sweet, and packs a good punch. On this visit we ordered papas brava, calamari, empanadas, shrimp al ajillo, & tortilla espanola. The food is fantastic! Everything we ordered was delicious. The service is wonderful. Our waiter was nice, funny, & attentive. I love live music and that was definitely a highlight. Although there are signs indicating that dancing is prohibited... people can’t help themselves. The environment is pleasant, relaxing and friendly. People are there to enjoy themselves! They are there to eat great food, drink delicious sangria and listen to live music. Cafe Sevilla is a must!
Spanish food and the atmosphere at this location is super good. Food was so appetizing. The service was very welcoming and sociable.
I arrived at 9:40 pm.They said on the phone that the last setting was 9:45 pm.I was in the line and the host came 9:45 and told me that they were done for the day, She was rude and I showed her the time but she said that they were done.If you say 9:45 dont close down 9:40.You should train your host better and tell her to be more polite and deal with the clients better.
Great happy hour. Felt like we were in Spain with outdoor seating and a variety of tapas. Check out their unique selection of sangria or ecen get a barrel to share with friends!
We were there for brunch. We ordered the tapas sampler, breakfast burrito, steak and eggs and a bottle of cava to share. All great with the exception of the steak. My son ordered it so now he knows unless in a steakhouse you dont risk it. Sorry no pics. The pic I have is of my plate half eaten.
Good scene for tasty spanish food. its so delicious. i had a cousin come into town and she asked me to go back here. the bill was well within reason for the quality.
This is the BEST place ever!!!! Great people, great food and Corey is the best manager ever. He makes sure to take care of you and goes that extra mile to make sure his customers are happy. The drinks are awesome and they have a great menu selection. Love this place and highly recommend it to everyone.
Our server (Stephan) went out of his way to make our dinner date a memorable experience. He helped us pick out just the right tapas and introduced us to iberico ham.....amazing.I let Stephan pick out the specialty margaritas and the wine. He nailed it every time.Outside dinning was comfortable and private. I wish we lived closer. We would go back there every week.
The service was quick and fast and awesome. The setup was nice with either inside sitting and outside sitting. Fell very safe and comfortable and the whole gas lamp vibe outside eating in the street was definitely a plus
My wife and I decided on this restaurant after spending about 4 hours looking for somewhere to eat for a night out for an anniversary. My wife is vegetarian and is unable to eat dairy and there was a variety of options available for her. The food was fantastic and service was on point. We made a reservation for 9:00 and got there about 30 minutes early and were asked to wait until 9:00 which is understandable. The atmosphere was good and the live band that night was nice. The music was a little loud in your opinion for what we where expecting but nothing to complain about. We had a few appetizers that we shared with a friend we all had a few drinks and had a meal each. The bill was what we expected. If your looking for something inexpensive this probably isn’t the place but if your willing to pay a bit more for some amazing food and great atmosphere I would definitely recommend.
Spanish food, very tasty. This place has an awesome atmosphere. Like a restaurant in Washington I loved.
My Husband and I were visiting SD we did not know where to go. We ended up at Sevilla for brunch.. It was definitely delicious and the waiter, Kale was super helpful with everything, he knew what went well with what etc. Made everything taste that much better.
I called before to confirm the last seating and they said on the phone 9:45pm. We arrived at 9:40 and planned the night for this time. Once the host greeted us she said they were not taking any more people. I explained we planned the night for this and even called before, and she still said they wouldnt take us. We were only a party of two also, so for them not to seat us even after calling ahead was really unfortunate especially since we made the the trip out just for this place. Very disappointed and not happy with the communication. They should have said a different time on the phone if that was the case instead of wasting our time.
Food is good, staff are very accommodating but they need more spacious place.
Great food & service a bit pricey but still
Really like this place, I had dinner on Friday oct 9 ordered traditional paella, a charcuterie board, papas bravas and wine, everything was amazing and service was good.I liked the paella so much that I wanted to eat more the next day, so I ordered a plate to go the next day, it was not the same, flavor was not there, rice was under cook and chicken was raw. I understand it is not the same when eating at the restaurant and ordering to go.I visited from Arizona, will definitely come back next time I’m in town.
Food here was awesome! I came with my gf and friends, staff was so friendly and our server Andrea was the best! She made so many great recommendations on food and wine. The empanadas were delicious and the wrapped dates melt in your mouth, meat and cheese plate its wonderful, fig and goat cheese so jummy. Will definitely come back. Make a reservation as it fills up fast.
Spanish food, mmm, very delicious. service is consistently above par. the place has a cool atmosphere. i see why this place has so many good reviews.
We had lunch at this restaurant a few times while visiting family and friends. The servers here are just wonderful! We sat near the ocean and enjoyed the view of our delicious wine and lunch. I just want to say that, in addition to a nice meal, we had a delightful waitress.
Authentic, amazing, and flavorful Spanish cuisine! I LOVE their patatas bravas, datiles rellenos, and churros. They make an amazing Aperol spritz, too!
What can I say but perfection. This place transports me to Spain every time. Excellent tapas, great ambiance, and even better service! SD must!
Spanish food here - very good. got there about three, it wasnt crowded.
Service and food was super good
Love the vibe and feel of Cafe Sevilla. It is a fine art to create a safe, social distant dining experience, yet make you feel in the middle of a vibrant lively environment! The food is amazing. Everything from the garlic shrimp to the short rib tapas to the multiple types of croquettes.. simply amazing. But maybe my favorite place anywhere in the world for thr tapas staple of Papas Bravas ( and we have tried them all over Spain). Trust me, order them!
Years and years running we love this place for the best date night in San Diego Gaslamp. Paella is to die for and the sangria is nectar from the Gods.
Phenomenal food, great live music and an incredibly reasonable price. The brussel sprouts are a highlight but everything is great. Excited to come back again :)
One of my favorite places in San Diego! We go here whenever we want a relaxed evening and great food. Im also a fan of live music, which they also have. My favorite drinks are the Classic Sangria or El Matador Margarita!
Nice place for a night out. I wasn’t interested in Spanish food but the mood and music were the best experience at Cafe Sevilla.Drinks were also good and price was reasonableHighly recommend for couple or group of friends. Will be back when I come to San Diego
Beautiful restaurant. Live music at times. Food was okay. We had paella. Nice romantic place. We were given a gift card from our children for our anniversary. When we gave them the card that was for $100.00 they said it was not showing up. We had to have our daughter email us the receipt so careful for gift certificates. The manager was great. The staff so so.
Good food great service we went there on a Friday night for dinner. The bills came out to $100 on their special menu. But my wife and I love everything about this place. It can get crazy when the band start playing at 10pm.
My favorite spot for spanish food. Looking forward to a return trip. Not so close to my office, unfortunately.
The food is really delicious, we took one type of tapas which the ham was as good as you can find in Spain, the octopus with the sauce taste perfect, and the creme catalana taste like heaven. It’s just more expensive than you can find in Sevilla.
Food looks great in pictures, if you order calamari make sure they fry them in FRESH OIL and make sure they wont bring them to you full of oil, Lamb...looks good in pictures but it doesnt taste great I ordered medium well..they brought it medium rare, Just saying. PRICE.... its very expensive I paid around $180.00 for what you see on the table. There are plenty great restaurants around. Check them out
Simply delicious!!! Awesome customer service, we visited on a Friday and they had a Flamenco show. Try the vegetable paella, you wont regret it!
Sadly the hostess service was the worst weve had anywhere in a long time. We couldnt even get on a list to wait for a table when we arrived. Very unorganized front of house. However, table service and food was amazing as always so dont give up if there is an unusually long wait. Better still, make a reservation!
This place is great! I love the jamon iberico here ; the chef sliced it right in front of us, adding a lot to the experience!I ate too many things to recall them all here, but the service was good and the environment was as well.
Great atmosphere. Good tapas. Didnt try enough for a five star review. But enjoyed what we had.
OMG we loved this place. Were went least night, the food was amazing and they had a live band. Dont remember the bands name, but they were awesome. Great drinks, great staff, great food, great atmosphere and we would definitely go back.
This is the best Spain restaurant Ive ever been to since I cant go to Spain due to COVID-19.
Great atmosphere and food. Paella is authentic as is the rest of the dishes. Looking forward to dining here again soon.
We went here for a work dinner and had an excellent time. Great ambiance! Very Spanish tapas feel! They have live music as well and it was very pleasant. Lively spot! The food and drinks were great! I recommend getting the dates to start. They were fabulous! We tried a couple of appies and the dates really stood out.We also shared the paellas with squid ink and seafood. It was huge and delicious!! More than enough for 4 to share. It was super yummy!!
Some of the better tapas I’ve had in the US but not very traditional. The tortilla española had goat cheese and tomato, the pulpo had way too much red pepper and they didn’t have a very good selection of reservas. Plus tapas didn’t come with bread... but the service was wonderful!
I loved this place! All of the food was excellent and we had a great, friendly server who also shared tips for visiting San Diego. The inside is beauuuutiful, lively, but somehow isn’t too loud that you can’t hear your companions. The 5-course Journey through Spain for Two was delicious and at a unheard-of price ($40 pp)—don’t miss out on the chicken skewers! We couldn’t get tickets to the flamenco performance on the weekends, but definitely something we’ll try next time!
Great Spanish food in the center of night actions at Downtown San Diego: Gaslamp! You won’t be disappointed
Little Barcelona in San Diego with great tapas and cocktail options. Stay late and witness a live performance to make good on the extra $$$ you paid.
When in San Diego dont forget to visit cafe Sevilla. They have a wonderful show and after some sangria i promise you will want to dance. Their tapas are to die for!!! Go any day of the week and you will always find a great environment and great people there.
We went for a late lunch. The place is nicely decored. Good service. The food is good but kind of hit or miss, we ordered croquetas de queso(delicious!) and also escabeche mussels (pricy and no flavor). So I think is that kind of place you need to go a couple of times to have a final opinion.
Everything about this place screams only okay to me. Food and service are the core items I judge and everything was very subpar for what I paid with my friends. Our group was greeted by a pleasant waitress and she made some popular recommendations, but I definitely did not feel that it was worth the pricetag slapped on. Checked in for a sampler platter - tastes okay. Traditional Paella - tastes okay. Some shrimp tapas - tasted okay (probably the best dish). Cant really go beyond these descriptions because everything was bland to me. Probably wont be back.
A visit to Cafe Sevilla might feel like a trip to Spain. The restaurant is adorned with spanish imagery and the meny offers many a tasty spanish speciality. At night the restaurant is a lively place night, featuring high quality live music. Nice staff. A good place to spend the evening.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The French bread was crunchy outside, soft inside, and paired perfectly with the mushroom dish we ordered. We were there earlier in the evening so we missed the music and flamenco dancers. I could have gone there second time and still not tried everything I wanted to.
Excellent food! I had the Valenciana paella and was excellent. My friend had tapas, all good!!!
The music was fun. The ambience was celebratory. The food was really good. Service was amazing. Turns out she is a dancer and has so much history to contribute to the experience in terms of her personal background. The musicians were playing music that was a cross of Gypsy and Cuban flair (Gypsy Kings and Havana Social club). We ordered several tapas, paella, and the red sangria. The scallops got rave reviews from our group. Please note that the portions of the tapas seem to be geared towards groups of 4. Paella was done just right where none of the mariscos were over cooked not was the rice dry. It was just right. The sangria went down smooth and easy. I would come back here any day of the week.
Love this place! We are from LA and chanced upon it while walking around back in Dec. with my cousin. Took my girls to SD for spring break and I wanted them to experience this place and its great food. It dodnt disappoint. My 18 and 7 year old daughters loved all the food we ordered, loved the vibe of this place and loved the music last night. Cafe Sevilla is one of my fave. restaurants in SD.
Very good sangrias, drinks, food, and customer service
Great food great service .
Difficult to choose entree the menu is stacked, plus everything looked and smelled amazing!! I ordered Paella which was perfectly prepared! My companys dishes were tasty too! Server was friendly and establishment was clean. :)
I went with my friends on a Saturday. The live music is amazing and the food was so delicious. I cant wait to go back! We danced and then went downstairs to the club and danced some more. We then just decided to come back to the restaurant because the live music was so much better! It was such a fun night out!
This place checks all of the boxes! Great service and amazing food. Its a lively atmosphere at night and gets a little loud (not really a drawback but worth mentioning)
Great tapas. Food was very tasty, tender & fresh. Spanish motif. Quaint restaurant with a more intimate feel. Great for dates or casual meeting with friends. Wouldnt call it a family restaurant, however.
The place is a restaurant/ disco.decorated very nicely, The food is very good, service is great staff very friendly
Spanish brunch and great service made this a hit.
Had the family style dinner. 6 of us. Best variety and wonderful food.
Awesome customer service and great food
This place is incredible! Hands down one of the best meals I had in SD. The pan con tomate was actually the best I’ve tasted, even better than what I had in Madrid! The ceviche trio is nice so that you can try the tuna, octopus, and halibut & shrimp... octopus is the best. The single serving of the traditional seafood paella was more than enough for 2 to share. The seafood tasted fresh and was overall amazing! The flourless chocolate cake was the perfect ending to the meal. I literally savored every bite of every dish I had, it was delicious!!! Would return again and again.
Amazing environment, staff, and food. The music started at 930, really fun! The food came out fairly quickly, with good portion for a couple. Additionally the hand cut ham was amazing good! The seatting is also different in the sense that you sit with other folks on the same table. It is not a big thing at all. If you want your own table there are plenty available. This is located in the Gaslamp district.
Nice richly cultured spanish restaurant. Decorated like if you are on the deck of an armada ship. Sevilla has outdoor dining, 2nd floor additional dining with elevator access. The restaurant also has a basement were flamenco dancers perform. Great live latin music performers, tasty paella and tapas and excellent Sangria.
Amazing food, amazing service. Can’t say enough good about this place. Everything I’ve tried is good, flavors are meshed and pair beautifully. Highly recommend.
Very good tapas and wonderful staff. Really loved the fresh Kalamata bread and the datales
Pretty good food. We did the tour through Spain for 2. Essentially you can pick some tapas, entrees and share a dessert, you also get $20 off a bottle of wine or a pitcher of sangria. We were fairly happy with the dishes we picked but it was too much food and some of the tapas seemed gimmicky.
We had a fun dinner and dessert at Cafe Sevilla. Great atmosphere and a wonderful setting right on fifth avenue. Being someone that enjoys spanish style food, wine and music, this was the perfect place for a nice evening in San Diego.
Tried about 7 dishes here. The overall feel was--i want to come back again. Most dishes were pricey so if you are coming here bring your credit card. The white sangria was delicious! Even my mom who doesnt like alcohol said she would order one next time. The first dish, the cactus salad was on point with the smokey flavors. I was sold on the first bite! The remaining dishes: beet quesadilla, duck confit, pork belly appetizer, shrimp gumba, salmon burger, beef burger, and bread pudding. All good, the only thing would be the duck confit to be served with bread on the side, super delicious.
No comment to the food. This place should be honest with their customers. I was in a hurry to catch a plane and have about 40 minutes to spend in the restaurant. I wanted paella. I have told them Im in a hurry and dont have a lot of time to wait. They promised me the paella will be done in 10 minutes. I trusted them and ordered at 12 pm. At 12:30 the dish is still not ready. I told the waitress I had to leave now. She said theyve finished and are packing up for me. I trusted her again, which is another mistake. The packing takes a whole 8 minutes. Had they told me this is going to take long, I wouldnt have ordered this. Im really upset for this and wont recommend it to anyone who doesnt have hours to spend at this place.Ohh one more thing. I thought paella would take long so I ordered tapas at the first time. Then they said they didn’t have mussels so I changed my order to paella. And guess what, I found MANY mussels in my packed box! I’ll reduce my rating from 2 stars to 1.
Had the salmon with corizo and it was awesome! My caipirinha was on point too! Definitely recommend.
I cant say enough good things about Cafe Sevilla.Living downtown 20 years ago I fell in love with the food and atmosphere. Visiting here at the new location it has just as much love and charm. From start to finish the food was excellent along with table presentation my daughter and I felt like VIPs.Thanks to the chef for the off menu love on the clam dish!Sevilla will always be my top favorite restaurant!
Such a fun place to have good conversation, drinks and tapas with friends!
Food was absolutely delicious! Seafood paella was outstanding, big portion would feed 3 to 5 people. Ceviche trio with octopus, halibut and shrimp is a must have. Fried calamari and meat platter were not impressive. Something that we fell in love with was live music and dancing at the bottom level. It is a combination of a restaurant and a nightclub, but if you have kids you can still enjoy a wonderful meal at the top level of the restaurant.
The live music was fantastic. Decor is great. Drinks were...interesting, but didnt try the food.
Love love this place! Tapas are spectacular. Stumbled in for brunch & was especially surprised at their brunch menu options
Excellent food and great customer service
Awesome, friendly service from Karina made my solo dining experience even more lovely. Incredible food and the best signature cocktails Ive had to date. Highly recommend.
