Tried walking on to Cedar Creek at 1130, said they were booked and didnt offer to work me in as a single so I called Northern Hills. John answered and said even though they were booked as well, if I could come quickly that he could try to work me in. I ran over in 30 mins. After paying and waiting 10min, no starter, I asked if I could go and they let me take off alone since the next tee time was not there. Great day of golf. Greens are pretty decent. Everyone was friendly and most groups let me play through so I finished on a Friday afternoon in 2hrs/40min. Give them a try
Played on 8/19/20 and the course was really good. It was well maintained and the views were really nice. Only issue I had was in the pro shop. The gentleman working was a bit rude and seemed not willing to want to help and make people feel welcomed. I will return for the course but if I could avoid the pro shop it would make my time even better.
Awesome course. It’s beautiful and well maintained and closest to our house. However, the guy at the front counter is AWFUL. Talks to everyone like they’re stupid and doesn’t listen. It’s a terrible way to start a game. Puts everyone in a bad mood. We will not come back here just because of him.
Played there today 7/28/20. The greens were in the best shape I’ve ever seen. They’ve done a great job up keeping the course. Great value for an Alamo City Golf Trail course.
The course is really well kept, but something has to be done about tee times. They stack them up so close it gets backed up almost every time I go out. My last four rounds were almost unenjoyable due to wait times. At one point there were 5 groups, FIVE, stacked up on the 4th hole.
Course is in very good shape, including greens, fairways, and tee boxes. Cart includes washers and GPS. The driving range is adjacent to the 1st/18th, so be careful for pulled or sliced shots from people warming up. Staff is very friendly. In the slower parts of the day, they are fine with single walk-ons golfing by themselves (at the other munis, I usually get paired up, no matter how slow it is). There are many homes and apartments near fairways and greens. Not much elevation change, so I imagine this course could be walked fairly easily. This is a good course for beginners as most of the fairways are wide.
Course is ok nothings really changed except the price. Kind of crazy its over $50 for that course for 18 when you can go to a lot nicer course at Silverhorn for a lot less.
Greens were in good shape considering the heat. Competitive pricing. Had lots of muddy areas where the sprinklers needed adjusted, considering we have had no rain for weeks. Overall a fair value for what you pay
Very well-maintained course. Helpful staff. Has a small driving range and practice green.
The course maintenance has greatly improved since the city bought this course. Lots of new trees will change this course over the next decade. The one thing that still needs to be improved is the cart paths. They are in very rough/worn condition.
In really good shape. If youre a midhandicapper like me, the course is pretty forgiving. Also pretty good for walking as it doesnt have insane elevations like Cedar.
Always a great time! Fairways are nice, and greens are fast! Love Northern Hills!
Beautiful golf course! Friendly staff.Ducks on the course were a nice touch
Love this course, they maintain it well and the staff is awesome!!
Greens are in exceptional condition. Very fast and smooth. Fairways were decent. Good overall experience and value. Highly recommend
Course is in great shape! Will play there again!
Had an amazing time, Ill definitely be back
The people that work here are amazing! Kevin, Keith and their crew were extremely helpful and kind. I recently wrapped up a golf tournament this weekend that we hosted at Northern Hills for 110 people. The staff was super sweet, knowledgeable and accommodating. They took care of everything that we asked for and took our last minute changes and add on team in stride and with a smile. The grounds were great and all the holes were open. Some folks were nervous to play at first but walked off EXTREMELY pleased! We can’t wait to come back next year!
Had a great time playing 18 holes. Nice course and Customer service.
Course was in good condition, but sand traps were a joke.!!!
Do they check your bag for booze
A lot of maintenance going on here. Not sure why the city hasnt offered deep discounts.**** Played Thursday, Aug 29th. Hole #1 closed, irrigation pipes still laying on the ground on many holes. Of course, many of the irrigation pipes are covered with dirt; therefore, no grass.
Nice golf course
Excellent condition
Great course In good condition. Challenges golfers but good opportunities to score.
A little construction around the course but still a lovely play..Greens are nice and quick if this rain would hold off a bit but overall a good course with nice scenery
When I arrived at the golf course they charged me $43 to play and another $17.50 for my wife to ride. I had no issue with paying that price but the golf course was going through construction and the entire back 9 was disastrous. There was mounds of dirt and huge holes everywhere. They even had hole 16 closed down. The staff was so rude (like always), I asked for the general managers phone number and he gave me a wrong number. I do not recommend this golf course to anyone. The worst golf course in San Antonio USED to be North Cliff.
Got different prices from different people and gave me attitude about it staff seemed miserable. Course was in ok shape but greens need work! Should have just stuck to my home course where my business is appreciated, course is in better shape and price is the same.
We attended an event tonight at the club. The food was horrible. They had two people bringing out the plates and it took them 45 minutes to get them to all the tables. Once we received our plate the chicken was way over cooked and cold. The asparagus was hard, the potatoes were also over cooked and they ran out of rolls. They had a headcount. How can they run out of rolls when they know how many guests will be attending? I had three potato wedges on my plate, the plate next to me had 8. Absolutely the worst catering experience I have ever had.
Went during my lunch break to hit a bucket at their driving range. Not all green mats had tees.
Good prices. Not a great course but fun to play and not difficult. Pace of ply is commonly slow.
Seems to have improved since city took over the course...
Front nine is nice, back nine very plain. Course is usually in decent shape
9 holes with my Veterans couldnt ask for nothing better. Staff are amazing caring for all your needs.
Nice course. I will play again when the grass is green in the fairways. Fast, groomed greens.
This course should be priced at 15-20 per round because of the conditions. Greens had sand covering them which made for a bad experience. The fairways were better but not by much. For the money charges you can go to any of the other Alamo city golf courses, and they are much better than this one.
Of all the city courses, not my favorite. Medium sized driving range and putting area. Rate are moderate, maybe too high for an average course. Most fairways and greens are average, some better than others. I always say try it and judge for yourself
I just used practice tee and putting green which were both good.
Good place to golf watch those fast greens
I rarely write reviews but felt I had to for Northern Hills. This used to be a GREAT course and it used to cost around $35. I played there last month and this place has gone downhill fast over the last year. The fairways had way too many bald spots and there were a lot of under construction areas. I know the city recently took over this course so Im hoping it is in a transition phase. But as of now, $50+ for a round is just way too much for the condition its in. There are much better deals in town. Please fix the course and Ill be happy to return!
This is a nice course in San Antonio. My friend and I just discovered this place and like how close it is to be able to come and get in a few holes on the weekend.
Course in good condition, greens great.
Nice track, and its starting to come back. Dave and his team are working hard on the greens and general condition of the course. Would love to see it get back to the way it was!
Course was in decent shape. Round was under 4 hours. Gotta like that. Enjoyable time...
Great time at northern hills, tough course with water and obstacles in the way.
Great venue with helpful staff
Greens in the morning are fast. Nice driving range.
This is the worst course the city has to date. The staff is anything but friendly the course is in very poor condition the greens are non- existence and the fairways are more like a cow pasture. On top of that they are charge the same rate as Cedar Creek. Dont waste your money. Worst maintain course the city has. You can play Canyon Springs for the same money and you get a much better course.
Friendly pro shop staff as well as a good natured starter. The course was in good shape. Had a good time.
I have played here for many years and an impressed how well the course looked when I played.
Quaint, narrow fairways with very well manicured greens. Early morning golf was great. Not too busy at 7 am.
Do not like this course one of the worst in the county
I played this course some time ago, but i dont remember it being this challenging. I didnt do as well as i thought i would so the next time i come out here i will bear these results in mind
Sean Hule, I didnt deal with Pete, but his lack of customer service must be passed down to his employees. Today was treated quite rude by the counter person while checking in. Cancelled my T time never to return. BAD BAD Customer service. Plenty of other great golf courses in San Antonio to give my money to. This will not be one of them.
Course is in great shape for August, if your in play. Nice lies in fairway and around greens
The course is in great shape. Fast greens!
Course looks great. Greens are fast and trying
Course in good shape. First tee time. 3 1/2 hour round. Nice.
Need to fix the ball washers. Other than that its a great course.
Have home there...great place to live...Has Northern Hills Country Club, golf course & pool... nearby schools are in the North East Independent School District...close to shopping and lots of restaurants...
Havent been in a couple years and was reminded why last night. Needs a change in management. Only 3 concession lines open with at least 20 people per line. Got in line 20 min before the start and had to leave the line to make the start of the show. Teenage kids screaming, cursing, vaping, viewing cell phones and running around the cinema during the showing. Ridiculous.
Great weather, Great golf, highly recommend
Love playing here.
Greens very nice. Way better than years ago
Nice course with average layout but outstanding greens. Great exercise for walking golfers (that why it is called Northern HILLS).)
Pleasant course for a good value. The staff are always nice and helpful.
Nice course, friendly staff
Customer service was awesome.
Been there twice and going to be 3 times tomorrow. I have a 2pm tee time. Everyone was nice to me and the course is nice. The Front 9 is harder than the back 9.
First time playing here, couse was in good shape and many of the staff and players seemwd welcoming.
Great layout. Greens are lightning fast
Great location but may feel empty at times. You go inside and not a single person is there except for in the shop which is beautiful but all the way in the back.
Course is in grear shape. New carts w/GPS. Great staff..
Tough course. Good place to test your golf game.
I love the city course, and the employees in the club house are always friendly and willing to chat you up.
Their curb appeal is fantastic!! Always so clean!!!
The course is very well maintained; narrow fairways make for nice challenge;. and A GREAT VALUE. great place to come if you are a beginner!
Nice place. Affordable
Challenging course but youll have a good time.
Under construction and mud everywhere on the front 9
I only drove through here on my way to my daughters.
Played in winter, unfair to leave remarks, but I do like the layout.
Not that great from a layout standpoint or pace of play. But the price is right and the location is convenient.
Nice & convenient golf course, easy 2 walk.
Great city golf course, cheap green fee.
My local go to for 18 holes, fairways are a bit thin right now. The greens are perfect but lightning fast
I called to make a tee time. Pete was so rude. I asked him why there were spots on golf now but it was showing as reserved on his schedule. He said I dont know. I said Okay, let me call you back. Then he slams the phone to hang up on me. Douche. I am not playing there if they hire people who cannot be pleasant over the phone. Worst customer service ever!
Challenging course @ a good price
The course was in very nice condition.
Been in there once. Must live in neighborhood.
Good golf course, well maintained.
This is a great golf course, very challenging.
Beautifully maintained green
Back nine is a complete disaster as there is construction. They probably should close the back nine until complete. Greens or OK. Fairways are terrible with very little grass.
Ok place for a small event. Set up is kind of off
Nice course, well kept, the staff seems a bit miserable though.
Beautiful lake with ducks, geese, and more on property
