The course is in great shape, challenging yet fun, the views are spectacular, the cart girl made her way around 4 times during a around, and the food is tasty if you want to catch a bite on the turn or after your round. The only issue I have with the course is that the tee times are so stacked up that you are waiting 1-2 minutes to hit for every shot. Which really starts to get annoying after the first few holes. This has been a constant issue with this course even before the pandemic with one time the front 9 took 3.25 hours to play. I actually called up the club house and asked for a rain check because it was so bad and they provided it without issue which speaks of their customer service quality.
Course is in great shape. New greens are very smooth yet very slow! As new greens tend to be, they are hard and not very receptive to even the best struck shots. So for the time being must play for a bit of run out. I would imagine that will change fairly quickly.
One of the best courses in town and its in my backyard!I highly recommend the players club membership
Canyon Springs us a nice golf course. A good change of pace from San Antonio city courses. Several risk/reward holes. Gotta be straight on drives, left or right you can end up in tall weeds or trees. Greens ran true and smooth. Fairways in good condition. Good size driving range and putting area. Snack bar at turn so you dont have to go down the hill to restaurant. Be sure to check out the two longhorns on property, theyre huge. Go play the course, its fun and challenging.
Challenging layout, especially if the wind picks up. Great public course
Very nice greens. Well manicured fairways. Friendly staff.
Great course, excellent staff, a Texas gem. I highly recommend playing around.
Great staff! Great course! Great practice facility! Great course, top 5 in beat San Antonio public golf courses!!!
Fun course located on an old ranch in San Antonio’s Hill Country. There are four sets of tees that allows players of all abilities to play. The course is lined with trees, thick grasses and modern homes. It requires you to keep the ball in the fairway to score well. You won’t see too may other players or nearby holes from your location. When we visited in late fall, the greens appeared to be recently punched (it wasn’t mentioned to us when we made the tee time) so they were a bit bumpy and didn’t roll as true as other local courses we played. ️Carts do not have GPS, so make sure you check a nearby sprinkler head or bring your range finder for accurate readings. Ask about their discounted replay rate if you’re up for 36.For me, this is the course you choose if you just want to get out on a Saturday with some buddies, hit some balls and have a good time, but aren’t too worried about tournament conditions.
Our wedding was a dream! We held the ceremony with the beautiful waterfall as the backdrop. Our guests were amazed and surprised as they arrived in the golf courts and saw the breathtaking waterfall! The food was amazing and the best tasting wedding food we have ever had! Chi was a great banquet master and very attentive to us and our guests throughout the whole reception. Brenda and Sunny were great at helping us plan everything. Our wedding was a dream and our guests talk about the “fairytale wedding” to this day!
Great course and conditions. Fairways and greens in great shape. Tough course but fair, I lost many balls as the rough and brush are thick. And can’t wait to play here again. Having the steers near the Clubhouse is very unique and probably something You’ll never see at too many golf courses across the US and world.
We used Canyon Springs Golf Club for our wedding ceremony and reception. We used the larger rotunda center for our reception area. We had such an AMAZING experience from start to finish. We initially met with Brenda who is so kind and easy to get along with. She gave us a tour of the area and answered all of our questions, down to the small details! She is very organized and we communicated a lot through email. We had our wedding at the waterfall and it was absolutely gorgeous. Brenda, Sunny, and Chi worked with our vendors to help make sure everyone was on the same page. Chi was our day of banquet coordinator and she was AWESOME. She gave us great advice and was well prepared. Chi made sure my husband and I were able to eat- all the way from the hors d’oeuvres to the main course and even the cake. If it weren’t for her I don’t think we would have had a chance to eat during our wedding!! The food was delicious!! We had an open bar and the drinks were great. Everything was set up exactly how we requested and ended up looking even better than we imagined. We had 155 guests and had more than enough room in the area for dancing. Our favorite part was the fact that we only had to worry about our personal items- set up and tear down/clean up was all done by Chi and her crew. My sister even commented that it was the easiest clean up she had ever been apart of for a wedding! We had SEVERAL people comment how great the food and drinks were, and how beautiful the ceremony was in front of the waterfall. Thank you Brenda, Chi, and Sunny for such an amazing experience!!! I HIGHLY recommend using Canyon Springs as your wedding venue. You will not be disappointed!!!
Nice place very scenic
Its a great layout and great condition
In my opinion one of the top golf courses and pro shops in the local area. Keep up the good work Canyon Springs.
Never update their hours and range closes at 5 or 6pm depending when they decide.
Fun course at a decent price. The staff were outstanding!
Very beatiful place. The wedding was so stylish. The outside grounds were great for pictures. Great service.
Played an expensive local course..should of played here both days... beautiful hard course with wildlife on high...8 point buck scared me when it walked 4 foot away...18 holes with club rental and balls barely a $100...if you are on the fence about which local course to play this is the one...friendly staff and locals with the better course...
Absolutely gorgeous grounds. Meticulously manicured track. I played on a chilly winter morning. 1118am tee time. Was advised at clubhouse they might run late due to frost advisory, so I expected that. I was given all green at 11am......before my teetime. Needless to say, as a single I was delayed a lot. I tried with 3 different groups to combine to save time and energy. No one would join up. So 4:40 minutes later I finished my round..... as a single. On a sunday....I have ZERO gripe about clubhouse, grounds, practice facility or otherwise. Im irritated with how a long frost delay still let all the teetimes through AND then let me tee off early. Saw marshall once at hole 3. Cant really gripe at that stage. I know this course is better. Make folks pair up or have a marshall to force issue. Today was my first experience. Wont be last because I have friends who swear by the place......but dang.
Challenging course. Need to hit straight drives otherwise your ball will be in tall grass. Only one hole had a water hazard. Greens were playing a bit slow today. Beautiful views and elevation. Would definitely return.
Greens are in great shape. I was concerned earlier this year they wouldnt be good. Fairways are in great shape as well. Pace of play gets a little slow but manageable. The only thing I do not like is the range is mats 95% of the time.
Bang for the buck makes this place an easy 5 star.I just played an afternoon round for under $60. The greens are a little thick and not so quick, but the rest of the course is beyond good...its great.
I was attending a private luncheon. The food and service were good but parking is all over the place, in the grass and unpaved areas.
Greens are well maintained this time of the year. Longhorns are a nice touch.
Good enough course. Bit pricey for the round. The way the employees talk to you, you can tell they think highly of their facilities.
Staff was very helpful
I play CS quite often and I always enjoy it
Course is in great shape. Had an Avid Golfer coupon so made it a reasonable cost. Beware! You will get charged for a glass of ice! They have new carts but ours was very sluggish. No ball washer on the cart and very few on the course. No GPS. Their old carts at least showed you where other carts were on #2. Just asking for an injury imo.
I love working with the staff at Canyon Springs Golf Club. I am an Event Vendor and have done multiple events with them. Love all the windows at the venue and property is just beautiful! Sunny is awesome to work with.
This track was well taken care of, the greens were fast tho
Beautiful course, particularly the back nine. Prior reviewer should delete the spoiler about the end. Great condition. No trouble with fairway bunkers and I somehow started out of all the greenside ones I see complaints about. Played the tips on the back to great enjoyment (10 Hcp, 250 yd drives). Best condition of Bermuda greens Ive seen on trip all week except perhaps TPC.
Very very nice golf course a little hard to play, great scenery and good price.
Fantastic golf experience. & Rudy Js tournament was fun & inspiring.
Love this place!!
We just had our wedding ceremony and reception here; needless to say the place is beautiful; however we had a terrible experience with the staff, our wedding money envelopes/cards were stolen during the reception, Josh, the banquet manager did not cooperate at all, there were cameras in the room which he did not want to play the recording; the party was ruined after we noticed what had happened.
BEAUTUFUL PLACE FOR MY DAUGHTERS WEDDING VOWEL RENEWAL! FOOD WAS GREAT! STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL! WE ALL ENJOYED OURSELVES!
Very nice golf experience; course grades are based on August in San Antonio, when courses are NOT typically as nice as this one.Greens:: AFairways: A+Tees: B+Bunkers: A+Rough/Native Areas: Well maintained and fair.If you haven’t played here, make sure you have a GPS app on the phone, and be selective on when to use driver. Unless you are extremely accurate or hit it short, you can play this course from any tee with 3-4 drivers.
The course was in great shape! Had a great round and the service at the 19th hole was also great!
Fantastic driving range
Lovely place for events in their round hall and also their summer nights events are nice
Great facilities. Beautiful Course
Had my wedding at this venue, no complaints everything was perfect and Brenda the event coordinator at canyon golf springs had the best service!
Came here for a wedding. Simple outdoor wedding with a scenic view. The event hall easily sat 200 people and room for a dj and buffet line.
Beautiful venue for the picture perfect wedding. The waterfalls add so much to the ambiance and the venue, and the staff more than takes care of any need of all their clients.
Really nice! And well taken care of.
Great place to meet up with friends and shoot a round of golf. It gives you the feel of being in the country but yet not too far from the downtown area
Great ! Would help alot where one tee box to the next hole but still enjoyed the course.
Golf CoursePlayed here in July 2018. Course was in great condition and was a nice treat. Greens were soft and tricky, fairways were fair, and all in all a fun and fair track. Can be a little pricey, so look for deal tee times or specials.
What a wonderful place to hold a wedding!! Loved the background (outside) as well as the continued theme on the inside. Food was great... nothing but good things!!!
We booked Canyon Springs Golf Club for our October 2016 wedding and could not be happier with our decision. We worked with Ashlee and Guillermo, who was our day of coordinator. We visited several venues before coming here, and this was the perfect place for us. I had a lot of questions in the beginning about different packages and pricing, and Ashlee was so responsive and answered all of my questions. Ashlee and Guillermo made sure our day went as smooth as possible with all of their coordination with us, and our special day turned out perfect thanks to them and the staff at Canyon Springs. Our guests loved the waterfall, the food and drinks were great and reasonably priced, and the space is perfect for medium-large weddings. Id highly recommend brides to be to book their wedding here. They do everything in house (catering, bar tending, chairs, ceremony, reception) and it makes it so stress free not having to coordinate with multiple vendors.
Went to a wedding there. It was nice and the food was so vary good. Could have eaten the chicken fajitas all night.
I had my wedding here 1/14/17 and it was a wonderful experience. The food was great and Guillermo and the rest of the staff worked very hard to make sure our day was relaxing as possible. The waterfall site for the ceremony blew my relatives away. Would highly recommend for wedding services
The food and service not good
Beautiful golf course at a great price. True Texas golf course with longhorns at the entry.
Good venue for weddings and quinceañeras
Always a good golf track...greens are not in good shape, but still enjoyable
Can usually play around in 3 and 1/2 hours.
Great course and customer service.
I live on the golf course. This is one of the best ran organization around. From the Golf superintendent to the marshals to the greens care to the early morning crew thank you. I love this place it hag.s been a blessing. You will have a great time. Bring extra balls as it is not an easy course.
Open and relatively easy golf course.
See Swipe 421s review, written a month before mine, stating that the greens are in great shape. Something awful must have happened to the greens between then and when I played it on 4/8/18. The greens were in TERRIBLE condition. Fair Warning. I wouldnt play the course for free. Of course, the staff is still great, and the setting of the course is still fantastic, which makes the condition of the greens sad. I hope they are able to revive the greens; they used to be soooo good.
Canyon Springs Golf Course has and is in great shape every time I have played. A challenging course where you have to bring your confidence and accuracy or you will be in trouble.
Great venue, the staff was very helpful at my friends wedding.
Used to be 5 stars but they got rid of the GPS in the carts. It was really handy to know the distance to the pin and also having the convenience of ordering from your cart.
Great Service, Great Price, Great Setting, Great Course, Great Food. I’ve always had a top notch experience and highly recommend!!
Very well done events the staff was very attentive and everything was very clean Ben Roberts is an outstanding host
Brenda, Chi & Chris are fantastic
Very nice place to hold Wedding.
Always in great shape.
The scenery is beautiful, the customer service was nice and I liked the layout of the course. But expected more of a country club feel for the price payed. It is in good shape and was challenging.
Loved it! Beautiful place for parties and receptions.
Immaculate, very playable but challenging, greens could be quicker but considering challenges off the tee you get a break! Would play over and over again. Pricing is great, where I am from(NC) you pay $60-80 for these conditions
Challenging course and great layout!!
Course is in excellent condition, the staff is friendly. I decided to quit after 15 today though because this course has a bad habit of indulging, if not outright encouraging, slow play. On the tee on 16, I saw a threesome in the fairway, and a large gaggle on the green, this after I had been waiting on every shot on 15. I decided to pack it in and was shocked to find the tee on 17 with six players waiting for a threesome on the green while 18 was wide open. It clearly would have taken an hour+ to finish those last three holes.Again nice course, but it is not worth the price when it plays so slowly. One factor in the slow play is their propensity to water the natural areas to encourage severe overgrowth. The natural areas are in play on most holes and today the weed height (during a long dry weather period) was close to 4 feet. So be warned, scenic course, nice layout, good condition, but your round is likely to extend past 5 hours and cost you at least a sleeve of balls you lose in the natural areas that collect slight mishits.
Terrible staffing and attention to clientele. We were stuck with a cart out of charge on holeNumber 11 at 630 on a Sunday and could not reach anyone at the clubhouse. Despite leaving multiple messages with the GM, the manager of Operations and a third person we had to rely on the other two people in our group to push our cart. Finally the Cart girls called someone when we met up with them an hour and a half after our cart broke down. No one ever called us to check up or see what they could do to rectify the situation despite us having to play best ball for 8 hole for obvious reasons. Go to any other course in San Antonio.
Greens are horrible. Dont waste your money
Great staff and great course
Very nice course fun to play
Wonderful place in my sisters wedding had a fantastic time great people beautiful atmosphere
Amazing food and staff first of all!The best place to play gold in San Antonio and I wish I had my wedding over at canyon golf by there waterfall amazing!
Beautiful golf course very relaxing.
Top-of-the-line great place
I have played this course several times over two years and this season the course is not worth the green fee. Many of the greens have large patches of new grass on the greens along with tons of sand. The fairway could use water weed treatments. I could on and on but, bottom line up front, the course shows neglect. The price should be reflected in quality...
Greens were in bad shape. Not a issue but to pay full price and not get the course you pay for is upsetting
Great course but the beverage cart comes at the second hole and then you dont see them again the rest of the day
Fairways and tee boxes in great condition. Greens are absolutely TERRIBLE. Would not recommend
Good course and great people
Do NOT play this course at this time. I played on 4/14/18 and the greens are in horrible shape. We were told there was a fungus that got on them over the winter, but whatever the case this course should be embarrassed that theyre charging $60 to play it. About 14 greens were badly affected, some to the point where they had parts roped off and labeled ground under repair.....they should be giving a discount and charging less than $40. Also, it was a Saturday and took us 5 hours to play.....and there are no longer GPS units on the carts. I used to run a golf league at this course from 2007 - 2014, and while always a little overpriced, this was always a pretty good course. They always had some little issues with the greens but nothing unbearable like it is currently. I heard the ownership changed and if thats the case the new owners need to sink some money into this place (i.e...gps on carts.....much nicer greens.....better maintenance in areas around the greens, marshals who speed up slow groups) as its too nice a track to let it suffer.
