The park is fenced out so visitors cant really enter the park. You can walk up a trail but both sides of the trail are lined with a 6-7 foot chain link fence. The fence goes all the way to the top where the picnic area is completly fenced off from the park. If you want a paved trail that is fenced off from nature then this is the perfect spot.
Great hike for the whole family, not too far to walk but with great pay off views at the top. From bottom to top took us roughly 20 minutes, whilst walking the dog! The guide at the top was super helpful, giving us information on what we can see from the top, the skylines of the surrounding areas, even setting up the binoculars to show us specific places. We probably spent 45 minutes at the top looking and talking to the guide. Would recommend!
Great little hike not too far great for my five year old she was so excited will definitely be coming back love how clean it is and peaceful it feels 10/10 recommend nice little gem in our little town. The view is great !!
Is very peaceful and an amazing view but what I have to compliment the most would be the staff. I locked my keys in the car and two gentlemen did everything they could to help me get in and I did. They were so kind, generous and helpful. I truly appreciated that.
Always so nice and clean!!! one of my favorite places to go to get that out of town feeling while staying in town. Not to mention it only takes about 10 minutes to make it up to the top so it is forsure kid and pet friendly!!
It was a completely beautiful and well kept preserve. If you want to see some majestic but only have a little time this is perfect. Short pretty trail to the top (mostly paved) it is an incline but one that is gradual and easy. The top is lovely and the parks people are very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved it, we will definitely be back.
The perfect little hike for a puppy and a 5 year old (or just about anyone else).
Is a decent high view of the surrounding area, but its a really short hike. Even though its all uphill and a little bit of exercise, its not really worth driving to far to check this out.
“Short and sweet” walk along fenced-in protected area with large rock formations leading to the top. Views of the surrounding rock quarry and the Historic Chuck Darringer blacksmith shop is at the top of the short inclined walk. Nice nature trail for the little ones with plenty of parking. Bathrooms located in parking area were clean and open during covid.
We always enjoy visiting this park.
Pretty good place to take a little walk with your kids.
Is fence park nothing exiting to see, and too short to walk.
Great little hike, steep but flat trail, not too long, only right at a mile round trip. The attendants were very hospitable and knowledgeable about the history of the park and surrounding areas.
Great place to visit... on a clear day you can see Grandfather Mtn...and Pilot Mtn.
I couldnt believe that we have this amazing mountain top view in Salisbury NC. We could see Pilot Mountain from this location!
Very peaceful at the top. Bob was very informative and friendly.
Nice place to walk and see great views. Such a beautiful park and Im glad its here. Wish it had more hiking trails and was open more often. Bob at the lookout is great with people and knows his stuff.
I love the concept and idea of the place but in my opinion more detail to the natural life and history of the area itself would bring more attraction and liveliness to the park and its tourists.
Beautiful place to visit, views on clear days are outstanding. Trail is mostly concrete or ride up (weekends).
I work there 13 years awesome views come enjoy Park is totally free, even bus to the top is free. Bring some good Binoculars
Nicely preserved mountain quarry and pink granite! Lil known nature gem found right in Salisbury! Can see appalachian mountain range on a clear day as well as carowinds, charlotte, asheboro, and many other city structures all around! Get a lil exercise in with the 1/4 mile trek up the trail. Bob who was at the top was a treasure store of info and very knowledgable and educated us on the history and geography of the mountain
Great short hike to the top. Very nice facilities and secure parking area at the start of the trail. Bob Peeler will greet you at the top and share his knowledge of the area!
Had a great adventure up the mountain. Tour guide was great. Looking forward for my return
Hidden gem in Salisbury! Very informative tour guide at the top of the mountain which is a very short walk. Amazing views at the top and will definitely be coming here again!
Close to Salisbury, yet far enough out into the country to really get an escape from town. Beautiful views from the mountain top, and very friendly and helpful staff.
The people who work there are phenomenal. E prepared to walk a little up the trail and bring some binoculars if you really want to take it all in.
Nice little hike. Knowledgable guides at tip of mountain.
My husband and I enjoyed our visit yesterday to this Park. Views are beautiful and cant wait to go back when leaves are turning. Didnt realize we had a point in the county that was that high up. Nice to have the shuttle for us old folks!
A fun little hike up the hills that overseas an old quarry. Has a shuttle bus if you choose to use it, great open area at the peak with amazing views!
Beautiful place, awesome staff.
Great local place for a hike
Nice place very quiet
Beautiful!
Outstanding vantage point virtually hidden just outside Salisbury. (If you didnt know it was here, youd never suspect anything.Wonderful views in all directions. On a clear day you can see the tops of the buildings in Winston/Salem, Greensboro, Charlotte, and even Carowinds over the SC border. The trees and the visitor station are top notch, and the enjoyment of this is quite high. That said, it is rarely open, and if you can find a time when one of their volunteer staff happens to be there, youll be doing well.
BEAUTIFUL hidden gem. Definitely a family favorite for us.
Great little place for a short hike and some history. Rangers very knowledgeable
Awesome views. No admission fee. Free shuttle ride to top if you dont want to walk. Best kept secret in Rowan county !!!!!
Best place every. Total free. Nice people.
Very nice place to visit we got a lot of information from Bob who works there.
A pleasant nature walk in Rowan county. Enjoyed the views around the surrounding counties.
Peaceful place & beautiful veiw
Enjoyed our visit. Mr Bob Peeler was there to tell us the history of the mountain quarry.
Nice place, good view, friendly employees. Could use some more trails, Only one.
Great views! Short brisk walk, or catch the shuttle bus.

Ive know about this place since I was a teenager, well run, cant say enough about Jay.
Love this place...a favorite
Beautiful overlook of Salisbury and the surrounding areas. Very nice and helpful employees.
We were offered a ride up to the top in a van and were only going to be up there a few minutes but the guy left us there and said just tell the guy up here when youre ready to come down. There was no guy up there. And we had to walk back down. The reason we wrote up to begin with because I am disabled.
Beautiful park. Well taken care of.
Nice people, great view. Also if you are handicap or dont want to walk there is a van that will bring you to the top and bring you back down.
Great park, light hike or trolly ride to top. Check hours before coming.
Awesome place to hike up, and enjoy the sense, you can even pack a lunch and eo it at the top...
Smaller than expected and not much to see
Ive never had so much fun hiking! Was well worth 1/4 of a mile hike because the views were amazing! We could see the skyline of Charlotte, Winston Salem, Youngs Mtn in Statesville, and even the skyline of the Great Smokey Mtns in the distance!
Beautiful place. Got to come back.
Good day but what happened to the bird feeders?
Wonderful people work there
Really short trail to the top were you can see the granite quarry and a little visitor center were staff can tell you all about the quarry
