The Hall House is a gem in Salisbury’s rich history. Its preservation gives us a rare glimpse into a very profound past. The Docents are very welcoming, passionate about and well-versed in the history. When in Salisbury, definitely take this tour!
This is such a wonderful place. I kept coming back here whenever I could. It is amazing that this house has been preserved with all the original belongings of the families that lived here. It is like stepping in a time capsule and find yourself in the time of the Civil War. This house is therefore very important from a historical perspective. It still has the slave dwelling in the backyard. It is quite unique that this was preserved. You really must have a look inside and imagine how they have lived here. And then imagine that this is even one of the better locations. At least with a wooden floor. And there is even some wallpaper, leftovers from the main house. Visit this house in December if you can, when it is lovely decorated for Christmas.
Stopped here as part of the Keep street theater Scrooge production. It was a lot of fun!
Second visit and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.
Beautiful home! Salisbury so lucky to have this beautiful home.
A amazing place to spend time. Its educational. If you are interested in history you will love this place. I would highly recommend it.
This is an unusual museum, because it allows you to physically walk through the rooms of an 1860s home. 80% of the house is open for tour. The only rooms not available are for maintenance, and tour guide costume storage. This is also one of the few places you can see and enter an original slave quarters and kitchen, an important part of southern history that is frequently ignored outside of text. Most structures like this have been dismantled for parts throughout the centuries, but this one was turned into a garage. The Historical Foundation restored it a few years back, and it is open for tour with documents about what we know of the people who lived there.
Very beautiful historic house. Wonderful landscaping
I love history!
I love the Hall House! Its so beautiful and full of information
Lovely house and is now a living.museum with much of the original furnishings in place. Great tour guides who manage to make the past alive and interesting.
Smelled cigar smoke around the house
The guide there puts the Grumpy old woman in Grumpy old woman, wont go unless shes fired enough said.
Lovely museum. The staff escort you around in period costumes, but much of the house is closed off.
