This is a beautiful park. The Capitol is currently undergoing renovation (January 2019), so parts are sectioned off, but still a lovely park. Better views of the Capitol itself can be had across Court Street, pictured (two different days).

Attended the defend the 2nd rally today. Great event. Well run, huge crowd.

The Capitol building is pretty cool - it looks very different from other Capitol buildings Ive seen. It has a lot less Greek / Roman influence and more timeless modern influences.Fun fact: the man on top of the Capitol building is, in fact, not a lumberjack. He is actually supposed to be traveling out west, carrying a modest axe and the tarp from his wagon. A true manly-man if I ever saw one.

One of the few places in Salem thats civilized.: (Never followed by security. Or harassed for handicap)Very lovely old trees and circular paths between State House and Streets.OSP are in charge.Civilized, pleasant or busy people and a few statue, and flag circle....I was with dogs and Wheelchair scooter for Photos of the fall colors. Very lovely peaceful time.I was also across the street in the Capital Mall..

It will be sad to see the cherry trees gone.

Pleasant park and n the middle of the city. Clean. Well cared for. Beautiful trees. Attractive government buildings flanking it. Great place for a breath of fresh air in the middle of town.

This park is at its best during the blooming of the cherry trees. Grounds are well maintained and the view of the capital building is great.

It’s pretty cool that we can see the state Of Oregon building. They offer free tour to see the Golden man on top of the building. If you have small kids I recommend not to bring them up there because It’s a lot of stairs to walk to but if you want your exercise go for it.

Love the paved walkways and the Cherry trees during spring are spectacular.

Great place to do some walking if you are in the area. During the day, you can usually tourt the capitol building, but I was passing through during the evening. Lots of rose bushes, and statues and monuments. I like the sculpture fountain one in the photo I posted. It looks very sci-fi or something, almost like a large spherical spaceball that opened up after it crashed down onto the land or something. Look for yourself, its an interesting statue thats for sure.

Beautiful park lined with Cherry trees. Event planners be aware that multi groups can be in close proximity and it can get crowded and there may be competing sound sytems.

Nice park, generally pretty busy, but considering its right by downtown thats not really surprising. There are plenty of better parks in town with more pathways to walk etc., but for a downtown park this meets expectations.

Great place to hang out and take photographs of the cherry blossoms in the morning, when it is that time of the year. Beatiful trees and flowers. McDonalds is just a block away and you can get some decent Joe for a buck.

I have lived in Salem, Or. for over 30 yrs. and have drove by the capitol thousands of times but have never been there. I always say Im going to go ang check it out bur never do.

Cool when you theres little plaques on the ground its really nice place to look at never been there before until a couple of months ago what interesting place they have scenes on the on the ground when you walk so dont hesitate to stop and read a few enjoy your day there

Defend the 2nd amendment. Great turnout and the speakers were inspiring. We also had a 15 year old speak about her school being unsafe and 16 year olds are not mentally ready to vote

Nice view of the Golden Man on top of the Capitol Building. Pleasant place to stroll amidst trees and sculpture. Spectacular when the trees are in blossom. Great viewing of eclipses, although that wont happen in Salem again for a long while.

Beautiful grounds to explore with interesting facts about various places in Oregon, but too much glorification of white settlers and not enough information about native people or Oregons history as a haven for racists.

When the construction is finished it will be beautiful again.

This is an administrative sit of the state of oregon. The building is symbolic. The structure is fascinating and the area is well decorated

2 stars because the metal fountain is never on. Turning off saves little water and electricity. The best season is spring for the cherry blossoms.

We did the walk today. It was a great turnout.

Beautiful grounds on the capital mall. Plenty of underground parking with elevators up to the street level. Handicapped accessible.

The capital building is small, but its easy to find because its the only building in Salem with a golden domed roof. I went here with a group of teenagers and a staff person offered to take us on a tour of the building free of charge. She showed us the governors office and explained the purpose of the different rooms. Its not the White House, but it was a nice experience for a group of at-risk youth who might have not had this opportunity if it wasnt for the kindness of the staff.

Great veterans 1st rally, this country needs to stand behind are veterans. With out them we wouldnt exist anymore.

We walk thru the park everyday, rain or shine! Its never as pretty as it is right now with the cherry blossoms in bloom.

Super nice park area with several large bronze statues and many large trees including a Giant Sequoia.
