Love the village! lots of cute stores and the town feels very cozy and comfortable. Honestly I could see myself spending a weekend here just visiting museums and all the unique stores.
Probably because of the whole covid-19 issue it seemed as though there was not a whole lot going on. All of the staff that worked at the attractions were very nice but most of the attractions need to be desperately updated. I feel as though it would be better to visit closer to Halloween. It was like the whole area was being held back, in my opinion, most likely due to covid.
Gimmicky in a very awkward way. Very small town right outside of Boston. Nice coffee shop, Jaho, right outside the Hawthorne Hotel. Next time I will visit Boston, and stop to see Salem.
Going to Salem was fun, but not at all when I expected. There are a lot of little shops that mock what actually happened in the towm of Salem. I was always fascinated by the history of the witch trials. I wish they would preserve more of that feeling of being in that time period. Maybe have reenactments to really show the feel of Salem in that time period. I did go into this tiny museum and that was pretty cool, very small but very informative. Also, the tours would be the place to get the most history. The house of 7 gables was however about $20 to do that tour.
Very Nice we here for my birthday one year Halloween had a blast
Very tiny area but fun to visit in October. There are a few food vendors and several Halloween related venues. Gift shops have fun items and lots of Salem souvenirs. If you are looking for a place with that Witcher mood, I guess come in here. I wouldnt purposely travel for it, but if you are in Salem anyway...
I love it here! The witch museum is a must!
Was there for Halloween, it was lots of fun. Plenty of Halloween fun to be had, and definitely a cool experience.
Great place, lots of history, learned a lot and enjoyed the day
It was a lot of fun, their information was factual, the gift shops were filled with treasures, and the restaurants in yhe area were very tasty. I will definitely go back again.
I was slightly disappointed when visiting Salem to tour with my family. Many of the tours, museums, and activities are very expensive.
Waste of money . Did this in less than one minute . Not worth the $.
Feel the magic in the air at this historic site. Would of been better if the actual cemetery was open. Only outer part was where u could see witch memorial plots
Ive been coming to Salem for over 12 years on a yearly basis. I just cant get enough. The atmosphere is magical! The town is charming the stores are great and I love the history.
It feels like Halloween year round.
Visited this year.Was dissapointing
I really enjoyed this exhibit. For the price, it’s well worth the stop. This place focuses more on the history of magic than the trials. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. I recommend it.
Had been there 10 years agoIt was a lot of fun
OMG! So happy we were randomly driving from Kenenbunk to Boston and decided to stop here in October. There was a whole festival! I love how its a modern version of old Salem. Had the best time walking around
Very disappointed - the witch that did the spell was way to theatrical - it was a joke really - the Wax Museum was ok - everything else was a disappointment. It was worth the 20.00 we all spent to get into the Museum - but I wish we would have just spent time seeing Salem and not the third rate theatrical performances.
Go every October. Love the feeling of this town. Walk around for hours and always see something new.
I absolutely love walking through here, during the Fall is my favorite! I love he atmosphere is always the best as it feels like there is magic in the air. I also admire the old school feel with the cobblestone roads!
Bought a handmade cloak from the village and want to live in it! Loved this place
This is really cool area that is just down the street from the Old Burying Point cemetery that is kind of like a Halloween town. There are all kinds of attractions, museums, shops and even food trucks all around. We bought the 3 attractions for $20 combo pack and did the wax museum, Frankenstein’s Basement (haunted house) and attended a live spell casting. The area is surrounded by bars and restaurants as well as shops on the occult, psychic readers, etc. Yes, it is touristy (almost like a carnival), but we were here for the big weekend before Halloween and it was a lot of fun. Definitely worth walking through.
Definitely love seeing my heritage I am a witch vampire so I really related to everything I was almost bring me to tears
The guides are all practicing witches and they are very informative, ask questions
If youre sensitive to spirits like I am, thisll be an interesting experience for ya.
Love it here, very clean. You really dont need a full day till visit Salem.
Loved seeing this little village on the Hop On Hop Off Tram. Also highly recommend the witch museum.
The Witch Village Haunted House is great for introducing a younger crowd to haunted houses and scary things. It’s pretty short with only a few actors jumping out. Most adults will probably consider it too mild.
I loved it here. I had such a great time!
Better signs telling the whole history would be appreciated
Fun but no public executions
Fun to visit! Especially if your into witchy things.
Tour guides do Not let ppl at the door, know the tour is starting ! Paid for but Didnt get to go. NO REFUNDS !! Way Over Priced merchandise too
My girl and I loved this area
Great history!
Awesome place to bring the kids! Informative, interesting and fun. Guide was a complete doll
I was very disappointed with Salem. Way too touristy and not as authentic or historic as I was expecting. Living near Williamsburg, VA I have high expectations when it comes to historic towns and Salem was very underwhelming.
RevampedA must do.Old GraveyardCool vibes
Visited on Halloween 2018. Great atmosphere with ghouls and goblins everywhere.
Loved it
As a witch who visits Salem regularly, there is such a beautiful, positive energy every time I walk in. It is amazing. The man who owns the store, and his wife are so willing and able to answer any questions you might have, and they demonstrate how the Tibetan singing bowls work, so powerful.
Wasnt the most exciting place Ive been.
I didnt get to really experience it but its a cool town flooded with nice restaurants. The history there is pretty cool.
Not so haunted or scary at all
Well maintained. A great group of eclectic, witch themed stores to wander through. A nice selection of of restaurants
Was actually quite boring. I was expecting some more visiting Salem. Everything closed early and there werent many actual authentic antiquities.
It was ok very informative but not much to do this time of year
Love them graves awesome
Pretty cool place. Visited a couple days after the Halloween Holiday.
Very cool place for history
The tour guide was very knowledgable.
So much fun! The haunted house, the old grave yard was very educational.
A great historic place to bring the entire family. Many unique shops and attractions.
They have turned the whole town into a theme park for witch trials and witchcraft in general. So much hype and so little content. For old fashioned New England towns, I prefer Rockport or Gloucester. Go inland and visit Concord or go south of Boston to Plymouth plantation and get some real history with the theme park.
Very well preserved
Too touristy these days, but still a fine historical and cultural landmark.
Beautiful and sacred vibes emit from this awesome place. I am definitely coming back!
Very interesting and easy to get to
Its just like a real life Halloween town!
We went today and discovered it had become a haunted house attraction. Well super cool and the price was not bad at 9.00 a person. We were stoked, that is till we began the tour. Omg it had maybe 3 people tops scaring us and by scaring I mean boo. Lol very lame! Not worth the money AT ALL! The entire tour led by yourself lasted 1 min.
Loved visiting Salem with my Husband!!
Great Halloween atmosphere
Sad but well maintained
Morbid
Different, interesting and informative. Would definitely recommend!
It was ok. I wish they focused more on a Halloween vibe. Salem is known to many as the center of Halloween but they dont play the part...
Real cool especially during the month of October
Just nice for history
Fantastic. Worth a visit the history is so tragic. Loved it.
Loved it! Great experience!
Always a nice visit
A definite stop on any New England tour!
Great place to visit when you are in Salem. Massachusetts
Best experience ever!
This place is located right next to the cemetery and memorial. Its very commercial and they are primarily trying to get you to go though one of their haunted attractions. Skip the haunted houses but enjoy the shops and atmosphere.
Awesome! Not very expensive..Soo much to do
Went to Salem for Halloween this year. Weather was bad so didnt see everything but avoid the cheesy haunted houses (worst I have ever been to) and witch spell session . Not worth time or money Just tourist trap.
Which stored information about my trip?
Learned a lot, tour guide was great
Nothing stood out. Expected a lot more as a village, but it was September and a lot was closed. Potentially better in season but still much smaller than I expected it to be.
We went to the Haunted witch village after going to Chambers of Terror on the Warf. We were so disappointed! The whole haunted house was just a few jump scares; The actors not even in costume, just holding plastic masks on their faces. One actor actually stood in frint if usuand said boo and some bull**it in a bored voice. Seriously? Absolutely awful and not worth the money. We followed up with Frankensteins Castle, which was just as bad. If you want a scary haunted house, walk a little farther and go to Chamber of Terror.
We went in August. Was OK, but it is probably worth visiting during halloween.
My fiancé and I did their 8pm walking tour. We had a great time with our tour guide Vikki. She was very bubbly and friendly. This tour has a great portion of salem history and a bit of paranormal tales. Had a great time!
