I visited to see a musical. Great location with nearby parking, but the actual auditorium isnt well suited for theater. I sat in the back of orchestra, and because the floor is completely flat, it got hard to see over the people in front of me. I dont want to imagine how the people on the sides watched a musical for two hours without facing the stage.
What a BEAUTIFUL setting! Amazing building, so much history and style The rows were really, really close together, but the seats were comfy and it didnt seem like there was a bad seat in the house. Historic setting with all the modern quality in A/V. Great venue.
A gorgeous old building with a massive theater space. The seats in the upper levels face directly in to the center so you end up looking pretty extremely to the side of your body to see the stage. And some sound issues (which is to be expected given the acoustics of so many cubic feet of empty air). But solid and historical. Im glad they redid the building true to the historical color scheme and decor.
Great place, loved the design and look of everything. We made it inside with a very long line in a fairly short amount of time. Be prepared to pay 10$ for a drink though unfortunately. The Food selection isnt the greatest kinda generic but you arent going to the event to eat so its understandable. I Definitely wish the beer selection wasnt just only 4 options (Budweiser, budlight, and two weird local beers).
1st time since the re opening. What an amazing renovation was done. The opulence! Absolutely love all the friendly help they have on the floor. Their kindness and patience was much appreciated. Absolutely loved the Christmas story.
We went to see Dear Evan Hanson during its run. Really enjoyed the place, but did feel the distance from the stage was a bit much. Great building though.
Big time rush live electric tour 2020 to sacramento memorial auditorium 2 november
Came here to see Dear Evan Hansen. The play was phenomenal but this venue is not well suited for stage theater. Tickets were advertised as stadium seating but the incline is barely noticeable. Our seats were towards the middle/back of the main floor and sold at a higher price tier so I expected a good view. I had a great view of the back of several peoples heads and everyone was bobbing back and forth in order to see the stage. I’m a tall person! Still was never able to see the entire stage at once and missed quite a bit of the action. Super disappointing for such a powerful performance. The acoustics weren’t horrible but not great either and some of the dialogue was difficult to hear. Very overpriced for the overall experience. It’s a beautiful auditorium and may be fine for concerts or other events but I would not recommend it or for theater productions.
I dont know if they sold food this time because I went on a school field trip but the security was awesome. We were led into the theater with a guide so we were able to stay together.
I always enjoy seeing something here, almost cozy, love the history. Recently updated (mild). Would pick a balcony seat, clearer views unless you are one of the front rows.
I really like the venue. It is a old building but redone last year. Keep in mind I enjoy older venues. You can sense this history as you walk through the building.
The place is massive. Understand why they hold graduation ceremonies here so extended family can participate. Christian Bros HS had a well organized event. Be prepared to sit in one of the tier levels and it difficult to get to a bathroom once seated so plan accordingly. Took forever to get out with the hoard of people in the hallway. Couldn’t wait for fresh air.
As beautiful as it is, the acoustics are still terrible. We were in upper balcony left, and could not hear at all. Luckily, we had all read the story, and thoroughly enjoyed the production. Well done. More speakers, please.
Its beautiful and has lots of class. 1920s vintage and has the names of those who gave their lives in the Spanish and first World War. Dedicated to those Heroes. I really liked the oversized pictures of previous events from the twenties through the 70s. Parking though is sometimes a pain in that area.
Maybe for other types of events this auditorium is great, but when it comes to watching musicals, Id say it has been my least favorite, unfortunately (Ive been to about six or seven different theaters). I would not recommend buying seats on the main floor bc the slope of the floor is not steep enough for people to see past the row in front of them, especially for shorter individuals (like me). The feel of the auditorium also felt a bit more like a high school gym, which I didnt particularly like (I went to watch Dear Evan Hansen). If you do decide to watch a musical here, I recommend balcony seats, or get as close to the stage as you can; I did notice the floor was a bit steeper for the first 5 or so rows.Overall, the ushers were very nice and I was very impressed with the aesthetics of the venue. Its a shame the seating conditions for the main floor are so poor; this probably would have been my favorite theater otherwise.
We really enjoyed Dear Evan Hanson. the only challenge was that the floor seats are not elevated well enough between the rows. The classic beauty of the auditorium is great.
Just seen A Bronx Tale The Musical and the play was good but the searing was terrible. We had floor seats and they were extremely uncomfortable. They didnt recline even a little bit and the arm rests were like metal. You cant see over the person sitting in front of you no matter what. The snack bar is super over priced for not even brand name water and very little selection.
We visited the theater for the production of Dear Evan Hansen. The theater is superb. The seats in the lower section were very comfortable and roomy, especially compared to other theaters Ive experienced
The staff very helpful with ADA accommodation. Beautiful location but well worn (wood floor needs help). Parking was easy to find within a block of the auditorium.
My biggest complaint is that there is not enough rise from the front to the rear in the orchestra section. I was in the rear orchestra (row dd) for Dear Evan Hansen and it was disappointingly very, very difficult to see what was happening on the stage. Acoustics seemed pretty good. Street parking on a Sunday afternoon was fairly easy to come by and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. Tip-There are a couple of hidden bathroom facilities with much shorter lines than the main one-one downstairs and one that you exit along the side and actually go into a building connected by a ramp. But no lines there!
Great place, my dad graduated there in 1937, went to my first concert there in 1966, plus the Ice Follies, yes, Im old, absolutely love the Memorial Auditorium! The acoustics were good!
Beautiful building, clean restrooms comfortable seats and nice staff. The stage was easily visible from our seats too. I would see plays there again.
Went to watch Rhett and Link live. Best concert ever. The auditorium could be a bit more comfortable but not bad. Seats were very close to each other and not very much leg room
Nicely remodeled auditorium perfect for musical venues! The memorial garage just a couple blocks away is the best parking structure available, costing $5 on weekends and nights. Otherwise you can park on the street.
Ive gone a few times to see various musicals and its always a pleasure. Friendly, helpful staff, very clean atmosphere and central location to many hotels and restaurants make it easy to plan trips there.
The musical Dear Evan Hansen was great. The Auditorium itself needs some major updating. The seats are very uncomfortable and the isle ways are way too narrow. Can hardly wait until the convention center is up and running.
Great show! Really nice to be back at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. The renovations and old pictures they had at the auditorium are so cool!!
Beautiful venue! Great show! Great location! Tickets were super reasonable as well.
Beautiful venue, but their seats are uncomfortable as hell. Went for a comedy show and was extremely restless by the end because those chairs were so uncomfortable. Would highly recommend for events where youre standing, but not for an event where youre sitting for an extended period of time.
Renovated for Broadway shows while Community Center is being renovated! Acoustics are great, new restrooms accessible by ramps on west side. Seating & balconies still WPA-era, though, but with new handrails & safety railings. It will work for the Broadway shows who will agree to perform there in a somewhat smaller venue.
My wife and I saw The Nutcracker. I would recommend not getting seats along the side as you will have to turn your head in order to watch. Otherwise, it was nice.
A beautiful building that accommodates a large crowd. Great sound system and stage.
Loved this place. Upper & lower deck seating that wraps around the auditorium. The floor is standing room only. Great view from upper deck. Drinks are all nine bucks.
Kid friendly. We werent rushed out after the show and were able to take all the pics we wanted with the props.
The remodel is super clean. Venue has a storied past with posters and momentos documenting it. Plenty of restrooms and friendly staff. Seating on the sides close to the stage will leave you with a sore neck, but theres not a bad seat in the house.
Beautiful auditorium. Renovated and restored. Every seat is a great seat here.
Visited while the theater is being rebuild. Seats are a little small. But view were good
Thank you! ACYPAA 2020 WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD! I HAD AN AMAZING TIME!
Attended high school graduation. Shouldve been earlier for better seats. Overall great stage
A very nice time was had. The program was great. Lots of talent.
The remodel is amazing. In 1983 I was there for a concert and it is way more beautiful now.
I try to see this performance every year. Its beautiful. And Brings christmas into your heart.
Went there for a church event called Time out for Women it was comfortable, we could see very well, we could hear all the speakers well. Bathrooms were clean. Parking was pleasant
I came here to see Dear Evan Hansen. The building is pretty nice, although some of the stairs are a little steep in some places.
Nice place. Acoustics were a little weird but historic place. No elevator to 2nd floor if you need it
Went to For Kings & Country concert. It was uplifting. I would recommend this concert for not only adults but teenagers as well.
I work there as security officer do I get to experience a lot of different events. Lucky me
I have attended boxing events here as well as my stepdaughters and oldest sons high school graduations. It is a beautiful place! I just found out they offer beautiful weddings, I would have loved to get married here!
Beautiful and spacious auditorium with lots of legroom in the main floor seating area as well as ample seating in the balcony area. I was here for an Arbonne Pure Impact event and was so impressed the layout of the venue as well the lighting which appeared to be customized green for us.
This one s a really neat old building and a good Venus for many events. The floor seating is very flat so for some thing it is not easy to see at times.
Perfect venue for an unforgettable wedding or anniversary.
Went to see the show Dear Evan Hansen- great show; but the acoustics werent all that great. And we were sitting in section 105.
Beautiful building. Comfortable seats. Best Band of all time EWF!!
Im a union stagehand, so I frequently work here. I really value this still very usable old historic building. Around the country weve demolished too many landmark buildings because theyre not always easy to work with. This is a shame. Not every old building should be saved, but those who decide these buildings fate should consider some things other than profit. The Memorial has been the focus of so many Sacramentans life for so long. My wife and several of her friends still tell stories of graduations and rock gods that they saw at MA.
Good size building and beautiful! Saw dear evan hansen, the stage is wonderful.
Great venue, not to big, not to small. Saw A Bronx Tale.
Enjoyed a wonderful evening seeing a Broadway touring show, Dear Evan Hansen.
Beautiful building, nice facilities, wish the seats on the floor were more comfortable.
Historic and beautiful venue. Not very accessible. Stairs only to the balconies. Many stairs from balcony up to restrooms.
Awesome venue. Saw Bert Kreischer and it was amazing.
After being closed for months with millions spent on renovations, I couldnt tell what changed. The security screening for the sold out show I attended was abominably slow. I was in line 15 minutes before the doors opened and it took 90 minutes to get in. The balcony seats are hardwood but at least I had adequate legroom. Acoustics are ok.
It was nice but the floor seats were flat and could get a good view you best bet for that price is the dress circle stadium style we move are Broadway season tickets there
The venue was fun and comfortable with your typical overpriced concessions. Whoever was running the lights and cameras was clearly struggling though. The lights were on at the beginning of the show and the artist had to remind them to turn them down. All through the show cameras were getting bumped, transitions happened multiple times, and strange overlays occured. It was like 4 Jawas were at the helm bickering on how best to shoot.
I love the memorial Auditorium my its a beautiful building.
Great place to see a show no bad seats
Dance Comp Time!!
Saw alot of top name concerts including journey for the re opening..wish there were more and the kids symphony concert series from the 1960s....
Tiny seats. Everything else was fine.
Floor level seats are folding chairs but amazingly comfortable. Service was courteous and fast at the concession stand.
This is a very pretty and intament theater, It didnt seem like there was a bad seat in the house.
Beautiful venue. Very intimate. Great sound
My first visit, lovely theatre and a great show.
This place is a landmark for graduating classes in sacramento and the original arena for the NBA team the Sacramento Kings. Wonderful place but difficult parking so four stars.
Its a placeCool stuff happens here10/10
Just saw Dear Evan Hanson. We had floor seats. The sound was great but the seats on the floor where not comfortable at all.
Nice theater with really high ceilings and lots of seating with good views.
Beautiful venue. Ushers are friendly and willing to help.
This is a good place to go for concerts or any other functions.
Great show last night. Dear Evan Hansen.
Not a good place for live theater. Today I could only see half the stage and that is because the left rows in front were empty. Chairs really uncomfortable too.
Saw A Christmas Story Play here. Plenty of room and sound very good
We saw The Nutcracker ballet and it was great.
Staff was very helpful and friendly! Next time will get seats MUCH closer to the stage!!
A nice historic venue to enjoy with great acoustics beautiful ceilings and a rich atmosphere
