Its a small place but it feels more personnel being inside with about 30/40 seats a small stage with comedians making you laugh. This place doesnt have food item meals but it has a small snack area with can beers/ sodas an such. But its cool you can take classes on doing stand up comedy an they do have open mike if you ever wonder or thought of doing it an being on stage. Nice place to go see whats about.

Awesome comedy club tucked in amongst the pawn shops and Ethiopian restaurants on Broadway. The shows vary from standard stand up to sketch, improv or live podcast tapings. Has a great open mic on Thursday and Sunday nights.

Jesse and John are awesome, and theyve made a great space. 9 out of 10 friends you drag to your improv shows agree: If its not STAB, call a cab.

STAB! is a great place to see the amazing talent hidden in the Sacramento area. Their shows are always unique and a great value. They offer classes to develop skills needed to excel in both stand-up comedy and comedic improv. They regularly have stand-up, improv, drag, and live game shows. It being nested between such great spots to eat makes it a must stop venue for anyone seeking an unforgettable dating experience.

This is an intimate theater space, unlike any venue youve been to in Sacramento. Quality comedy and a wide variety of different shows. You are sure to have a fun, unique experience and a lot of laughs. (I dont understand the reviews that dock a star because of the size of the venue - I love the intimacy and immediacy of the space and see it as a positive.)

FOR ASPIRING COMEDIANS/OPEN MIKERS: I went there and signed up for the open mic and it was a nightmare from the very beginning. You should know a few things if you are going to go to it. For one, the regular open mic people are extremely competitive and hostile. The first person kept asking for questions from the audience and not even telling jokes, so I asked one to get things rolling, and shes like oh if ur so funny why dont you take the mic! Super indignant. After that, almost every comic proceeded to go up, stutter about the low energy in the room and how they forgot their bit, and then proceed to take unfunny potshots at my appearence or just outright insult me until their time was up. It was no exaggeration stuff like, haha. You have a comb over. You look wierd. Ur weird. Like, I wouldve laughed at myself if it was clever (and I still did in an act of good Will) but it was all just stuff like this. It was bizarre. But heres the kicker: after all that, I go up and do my set. Im prepared. I hear and see some people laugh. I feel good about it. Next thing I know, I see the host standing side stage and I take that to mean my time is up, so I thank everyone and begin to exit the stage when he mutters under his breath, yeah, none of us wanted to go home or anything and I had no idea what he meant. Well it turns out that he shines a cell phone light in the air when your time is up. He made no point of that so I had no way of knowing. So later, this guy comes up, and of course forgets his material, and then turns to me and literally starts verbally assaulting me about going over the light which is going over your time, which is when I began to realize what had happened. He literally didnt tell a single joke, and it was so kinda violent that Im pretty sure everyone might have been uncomfortable for a little while.I went to this place pretty prepared and with a good attitude, and I was unfunnily insulted and shouted at the entire night by people who either forgot their material, or even apologized for their own material as they spoke it. In conclusion: this establishment is an enemy of the arts.

My husband and I had dinner at the Real Pie Company and while sitting there decided to look for things to do in that part of town. STAB! Comedy Theater popped up. So off we went. It was a very fast and last minute decision. The place is cute and cozy! Everyone seemed very nice. I felt inspired by the two comedienne moms who are going after their dreams. They were hilarious!I understand the reviews about the place being too small because things can get personal quickly. Im the kind of person who likes to observe. Im not interested in being part of the show. When I go to comedy clubs I enjoy sitting in the back of the room, watching the comedians interact with each other and the audience. I find comedians to be interesting people. They feel absolutely no shame and appear to have the best attitude on life. They do not take things so personally and are totally okay making fools of themselves. There is something so refreshing about it. I admire that. What I have to say next may not be received well. (Note to comedians: You may use some of my criticism as matetial or as part of your routine.) Here it goes;In the effort to be inclusive some of us are excluded. Because while I respect others identities, I am heterosexual. And, while I celebrate your freedom to come out and be your true selves its just hard for me to relate to so many Queer jokes. Now, is it wrong for me to say such a thing? Because, if anything, what Im trying to do here is to voice out what many may be thinking as well.It might help to try a little harder to come up with relatable material that is more inclusive of people like me. Thats all!Would I go back? Yes I would!I think this was a great find in Sacramento and Ive already and continue to spread the word about STAB! Comedy Theater.

Comedy was great, but its such a small venue, it gets really personal, really fast because youre in close quarters. LOL Rubbing elbows as you laughing, I guess has its merits. Hahaha

Awesome little theater for comedy, sketch and improv. Intimate setting makes for a more enjoyable show in my opinion. Snack refreshments are available for purchase and the bookers keep the space booked with interesting shows, great acts and fun times. Classes are also available if you want to get into improv and there are two open mics a week if youre interested in trying standup comedy yourself.
