Great spot for a fun, cheap laugh. Everyone is super friendly and into comedy - if you like the shows get the training and try being in one!
Ive been to plenty of comedy shows and let me tell you, this one takes the cake for the worst. You couldnt pay me enough to go there again! They preface the night by saying its improv and that theyre thinking of this stuff on the fly, but its obvious theyre not. Then they have a handful of people planted in the audience to loudly fake laugh at the incredibly unfunny jokes, hoping that it catches on with the rest of the crowd. Seriously, Ive seen better comedy at Catholic high school open mics. Its no wonder the late show is free if you purchase tickets to the middle show. Its the only way people will show up!
Fun improv show.
Ive been going to this place since it opened. All of their shows are very funny especially the Fri and Sat shows. The comedy school is great as well I took stand up 101 and 201 and I now have the guts to do it on a regular basis which I never thought I could do. The staff are all comedians and very friendly. Also the prices are very reasonable its really the best place to laugh in Sacramento.
I came for my first time tonight and the shows did not disappoint! I am not new to improv, I have even to shows in the area, at other establishments. I must say that Comedy Spot puts on an incredible show, I laughed easier and harder at tonights shows than I have at other improve shows around Sacramento. My husband and I will definitely be back, and we are discussing attending some of the $6 improv classes on Wednesdays. For those that are unsure of improv, try a night at Comedy Spot, its high quality, engaging and will likely give you a belly ache from laughter! On a side note...they serve alcohol here, there is no drink purchase requirement, and you definitely DO NOT need to drink in order to enjoy the show...my party was sober and we couldnt stop laughing.
Never really shopped for comedy and decided to check this place out, man, I really truly found most of the comics on Open Mic to be very very funny! Im surprised that sooo many seats are left open and the seats that are filled consist mostly of comics awaiting there spot on stage. Thats not a bad thing at all, I was happy to see them applauding at the funny stuff and not just throwing up arbitrary laughter where it isnt deserved. I was greeted at the door by a friendly staff member, who as it turned out, also had a funny routine on stage. ONLY $6.00 for 2 hours of really funny material and delivery of it, plus, ONLY $4.00 for a cold a$$ Corona. I came, I laughed, I am surprised that more people arent taking advantage of a chance at hearing some local talent. I especially enjoyed the young kid that had the sack to do a Hitler impersonation with a punch line that had me pushing the chair out from in front of me and laugh hysterically, even though I saw the African Americans around me were not laughing, in fact, that may have made me laugh harder. I got more than I paid for, Im sure of it... There were obviously some that had some difficult moments, but hell, it turned out to be their first night on any stage and they werent that bad either. I give them all HATS OFF and I will return for more laughing, definitely. I understand they have other genre that folks might take away more laughs from, like Improvisation, ...etc. The only bad part of the night was only having the tolerance to drink 1 beer, but I should have had my wife along and turned her into a designated driver. Give this place a chance!
The small, friendly atmosphere is great for watching the shows and the comedians really put their all into the performances. They have been going for 10 years now, and I still enjoy the shows. ACL is a definite must see on Saturdays, and they even offer improve workshops for budding comedians.
A wide range of comedy from stand up to improve to sketch. Something fun going on almost every night. Ok... every night. I have lived in the Sacramento area since 1984 and I cant think of a place where I have had more fun on more nights of the week.I have not mentioned the price... It is inexpensive and worth so much more.Oh! and by the way... if you want to get in on the action.... Theyll teach you how. Yup, they have classes. Ive been dying to try my hand at stand up... I swear, one of these days!!!
Pretty funny people. Thursday nights are free, and I usually get a few REAL good laughs in here, while drinking my classy ass Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Went to my first comedy club with my mom here and loved every minuet! Definitely will return for some more improv!
Amazing group of comedians that never fail. I recommend Anti-Cooperation League on Saturday nights. Its the most hilarious improv I have ever experienced.
If you want fun, affordable entertainment - check their calendar. They have shows almost every night of the week and for the most part theyre all roll on the floor funny.
Love dis place gr8 comedy club always an good time
As funny as LOL inc in Chicago. The improv in You, the musical was very, very impressive. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. As others have said this is the diamond in the rough that is Sacramento entertainment
Great shows 6 days a week. Cheap beer, friendly bartender. I come here as often as I can.
Had a great time preforming here. Cool venue.
Really enjoy going here - its easy, fun, you laugh, its local, theyre talented - just go!
Two stars for effort. Takes a lot for someone to get up in front of an audience and try to make them laugh. Actually making them laugh is another feat...
Ive been here at least a dozen times, its my favorite comedy place in Sacramento. Cheap tickets, cheap drinks, and they usually have a great mix of preformers.
Great place to enjoy a night out or take a class!
Great local and professional comedians, plus a good beer selection
Good place for cheap comedy. Kind of a weird crowd but it is in downtown after all.
Fun place. Entertaining.
So fun!
