Great quality instruction for unique art classes. My family and I took an introduction to stained glass class taught by Richard. It was more than we expected. We each had a lot of fun and learned a lot. We were pleasantly surprised that we were all able to complete our own simple stained glass piece and take it home, all in one class that took about 3 hours.Richard was very helpful and we really enjoyed his stories and his instruction. We are more than likely going to find an intermediate class to attend and learn more (and try newer designs).

Wow, any class you can think of you can take here. Stained glass, fused glass, cocktails and canvas...Gave to my daughter as a gift we came drank wine and had snacks and painted a cool canvas painting. This is one of the most exciting galleries and studio spaces for contemporary artists in Marylands DC suburbs. Work shown in the main floor gallery is consistently strong, with powerful visual impact. Second floor studios are awarded as short-term residencies to visual artists working on a wide variety of projects.

The fluid painting class was a really great introductory class. Its fairly simple but all of the materials were organized well and the instructor was skilled and personable. Basic colors were provided. Bring cash if you want to purchase extra canvas (a little pricey but worth it for a one-time session).

VisArts was the perfect location for our wedding reception. Starting with the space: The ballroom is gorgeous, with two full walls of floor to ceiling windows, and we loved using the space beyond the ballroom, the gallery-lined hall. VisArts is beautiful and unique, and worked perfectly with our decor. We held our cocktail hour on the rooftop, which our guests loved and provided a lovely backdrop for photos. For us, it was a great way to incorporate an element of being outdoors without having to worry about the weather (since if it rained, we could just use the gallery hall for cocktail hour).It was such a pleasure working with the VisArts team. Mary and Jackie were flexible and warm, and I could tell they really cared about our wedding being a success. We actually walked into VisArts on a whim initially, and Mary immediately stopped what she was doing to take us on a tour and talk through what we were thinking for the wedding. We talked many times after that, but that initial welcoming visit really showed us the VisArts style of working with people. They were responsive and attentive to details, and all went perfectly the day of the wedding – we couldn’t be happier with our decision to hold our reception at VisArts!

As a wedding planner in Maryland, we LOVED working at Vis Arts for a wedding! The raw canvas was perfect for our bride who wanted a very modern wedding. We had both the ceremony and reception on site and loved being able to setup such a custom affair! The 13 hour rental was perfect in giving us enough time to setup everything for our awesome couple. To the naked eye, the venue may not seem like an obvious wedding venue, but please let our photos be proof that you can have an AMAZING affair here!

A breath of fresh air in the cloudy metropolis​ of Rockville! You can discover several artists work, the staff is charming and educated about their business. I enjoyed my last visit.

Tons of options. This studio has lots of art options for children; good art options. This was our first visit. We elected to do fluid art and my children absolutely loved it. The instructor (Michelle) was kind and informative. We will return. I only wish they had options like these in Howard County.

Came here for a beginners pottery class and had a great time. The instructor was calm and very patient with the class. The course is paced well and will help to get started on using a pottery wheel with clay. We were allowed three clay lumps to experiment with. I was not able to craft a perfectly round bowl or cup by the end of class, but other participants crafted some pretty good pieces. One lady was able to make a small vase even. Total class time is roughly 1.5 hours with a half hour allotted at the end for clean up. You are allowed to select one piece that you made to be colored and glazed for free. Each additional piece you want is only 3 dollars extra. Glaze will be applied by the instructor and finished pieces will be ready for pickup in around 2 weeks time. Great class for a date or just to experience something new.

I went here for a Wounded Warrior Project event and we had so much fun. I brought my mom with me and she really enjoyed herself. We will definitely be coming back again to do some more acrylic painting.

Cocktails & Canvas classes are always a lot of fun. I have done 5 of them in the past few years. I also took a couple of the fluid paint classes, did one hand building ceramics class, and a fused glass class. All classes were great with really nice instructors.

We had our wedding at VisArts and everything from the first visit to the last dance was amazing. First of all the venue is beautiful but the assistance we had with Mary just cemented our decision. Her knowledge and attention to detail really separates VisArts from all of the other venues.

Weve taken a few classes here now, always a great experience. A wonderful opportunity to learn with really pleasant and excited instructors.

I took a basket weaving class here. Great instructor. Pottery classes, painting classes and others offered here regularly. Rooms are spacious and well lit. There is a parking garage for area stores. VisArts will validate parking tickets.

Visarts is super, super cool. We did a pottery class there and had a great time. If they were a bit closer to us wed probably be taking at least one class every week.

Theres no parking, the event room was over priced, it was crowded trying to put so many tables in such a small space. The rooftop was offered but not actually prepared for use. The event coordinator was a bad communicator with the family of the event. Absolutely not worth it.

I participated in an art retreat here, which included yoga, nice lunch and an art session. It was very well done and thoughtful.

This is a nice place to let your artistic side have fun

My boyfriend and I went to the Saturday session of Mud and Merlot (ceramic class). Our instructor was Ryan who was absolutely wonderful. Very knowledgeable and delightful! The class comes with a complimentary glass of wine, soda, bottled water, and I believe chips. Such a fun class and nestled among many delicious restaurants in the area. They validate parking as well. Great experience!

As a newly wed LGBTQ couple, VisArts made us feel like family. It is an amazing venue with a style all it’s own! Mary gave us a 2 hour tour of the facility and all of the options they offer. Because of the style, things they offer to the community as a non profit, and the personal attention give to our event... VisArts was the ONLY option for us. Mary truly embraced our vision and brought it to life. As our wedding day drew closer, Mary and her staff were in constant contact to place us at ease. As Hurricane Florence came to try to ruin our big day, Mary was the first to let us know that her and her staff would do everything in their power, to include working around the clock, to make sure our wedding was all we envisioned! She was amazing!

I have taken two classes here and I really enjoyed both. I took the stained glass class and pottery Wheel. The facility is very clean and nice, the teachers are very friendly and knowledgeable and I felt like I learned a lot and got my moneys worth. They also sell snacks and wine there during some classes which can make things a little extra fun. I definitely plan on going back for more classes!

The Mosaics class was great! I will be taking more classes.

My mom and I attended their mud and merlot and it was a great experience! Svetlana was very helpful and we had a great time! The mugs turned out wonderful.

Good place to be creative.

Bought a groupon and made my reservation for a Sunday. We had a family emergency where we had to put my dog of 14 years down that Saturday before our reservation. So naturally, we were in a grieving state that very next day. Despite my loss, Visarts would not let me reschedule without a fee per person.. I think it was about $30 each. I feel that in such a case, one shouldn’t be charged anything extra to reschedule. So if you make a reservation with them and especially if you pay full price, be sure you are 100% committed to going or you will be charged to reschedule, and certainly not given a refund.

Best place to discover various art styles then just painting. The summer camps for childeren give good opportunities for kids to be creative and have fun. While having so much art In the building there are cool featuring events hosted throughout the months with various art styles that go with each season of the month.

Great place but how is it subsidized?

Went for a wine and paint and had a good time. Instructor was nice and helpful. Wine cups were a bit small, but it wasnt egregious. Space is a bit cramped. All in all it was a good time and Ill be returning.

Took and Canvas and Cocktails class and really enjoyed it. It was fun, relaxed, informative, the teacher was helpful and approachable and the sunset view from the roof top was amazing. Would recommend for a fun girls night out or date night.

A variety of art exhibits, free and open to the public

I feel like nothing I write will be able to truly describe how amazing VisArts was for our wedding reception. It was the perfect choice. We wanted a modern, city feel and we definitely got that there. The artist concourse was great for the cocktail hour. It felt upscale and modern. Mary was nothing shy of amazing and really made the planning process feel easy! We had plenty of space in the Buchanan room for our appx. 120 guests and the band to play. It was especially nice for the winter because we had the holiday decorations and that view of the ice skating rink. We took portraits on the roof before the wedding and got some spectacular shots.There is a ton to do around there for out of town guests. We had our rehearsal dinner at La Tasca. We also continued the reception party at Bar Louie after the wedding. It was great to have the guests staying at the Cambria Hotel and it was convenient for them to walk back to the hotel after the reception. In dealing with wedding vendors, it can be hard to know if they have your best interest at heart or if they want a bigger paycheck. With VisArts, there was no doubt they wanted to make sure our day was special. We wish we could do it all over again!

WE HAVE TAKEN 3 COURSES SO FAR. CERMICS AND MERLO WHICH WAS GREAT FUN AS WE MADE VASES & DRANK WINE, CREATING MOSIAC MIRRORS - COLORFUL AND FUN, AND FUSING GLASS INTO A CONTAINER ....FANTASTIC COLORS. ALL TEACHERS WERE NICE AND IT IS A FUN AND CLEAN ATMOSHERE.
