The gardens are beautiful, as always, but not as well maintained as they have been in the past. Noticeable trash needs to be cleaned up and the sunken beds could use a good raking. I cant help but wonder why fall plants and flowers, such as mums, black-eyed Susans, flowering kale, and croton are not planted? The one black chokeberry bush is stunning, and the trees steal the show, as always!*We found the gardens crowded (as usual, in autumn) but everyone was careful and polite about social distancing.*

Reviewing from a photographers point of view. This place offers a large variety of backdrops, in a small, but adequate space. If you bring families here with little kiddos there are plenty of spots to contain them while keeping them engaged and entertained. Highly recommend this place.Plenty of stray cats to pet if youre into that sort of thing. It happens to be one of my highlights.

There for a photo shoot...great grounds with lots of interesting plants and structures. Garden built around 1912 and is very unique in its design. Worth an hour if you are in the area.

I needed to take yearbook photos for one of my grandchildren and a friend of our family. The Sunken Garden is a location Ive used over the years for outdoor portraits and for the formal photos of wedding parties. Even though almost all of the flowers had lost their blossoms in other areas, there is such a variety of different flowers that bloom during different seasons that even during late October we were able to find plenty of flowers still in bloom for the background of the photos.

A small garden with some interesting architecture. A good spot to take pictures but nothing much to do. It is connected to trails in the park. There is public parking. Walking distance to some food places.

One of the most interesting and beautiful places for photography in Rochester. It is beautifully kept. The lighting is wonderfully direction and exceptional if you have high cheekbones.It is frequently full of wedding parties on Saturdays during the warmer months. In case it is full, use Mount Hope Cemetery across the street. Ive done beautiful work around the chapel and the crematorium (Now dont be like that! It is really a beautiful spot!! :-) ) Enjoy!

Quiet. Pretty. I think it would probably be better in spring. Looks like most of the flowers are spring perennials. The garden looked a little thirsty and neglected today.

Always a lovely place to wander about. The groundskeepers do a fantastic job of keeping the area looking beautiful throughout the year. Be on the lookout for Dudley the cat, who loves attention and might accompany you on your walk.

Beautiful little hidden part of Highland Park. I had my wedding ceremony at Warner Castle and rented the garden for photos. (Weddings arent allowed in the gardens themselves, sadly.) Such a nice little piece of Rochester!
