Went there on a relatively warmer November day (50 degrees approx). It was nice and quiet possibly due to the off season. I believe it must be very nice during the summer. There was ample parking spots too. Hopefully it doesnt get too crowded in the summer

Ontario Beach Park is filled with people from every walk of life, which is part of its beauty. The beaches are gorgeous with their ocean-like view of Lake Ontario and the sunsets must be experienced from the long pier. Nearby there are restaurants from casual to finer dining, and of course, theres Abbotts ice cream.The park is a beautiful place to visit during all four seasons.

Great place to enjoy an outdoor meal on the mouth of the Genesse River front. Sunshine and watching the boats cruise by. Walk the peer, picnic, beautiful beach, listen to the waves roll in, or take a ride on the historic merry-go-round. Several amazing restaurants and best custard on the planet at Abbotts. Come alone or bring the family there is so much to enjoy!

Nice sandy beach area, open to public, plenty of free parking. Picnic areas are clean and well maintained, same for rest rooms. Social distancing was good when we were there. Nice walkways and youll put in plenty of steps walking all the way out the pier.

A very relaxed lake beach, enjoyed watching the seagulls! Picnic tables are available, restroom is clean. Lifeguards are here for certain parts of the beach. Waves are calm, feels very peaceful here! :)

First visit to the Lake, cold day but nice area to walk plus follow sidewalk down Beach Rd for some views of beautiful lake front houses...

Fun, Life guards until 6 or 7. Clean, great view at sunset. Grills in the park, you can walk the pier, park for children. Volley ball set up. Bathrooms. Outdoor shower (to rinse off not bathe )

Nice Beach, with lot of activity, like beach volleyball jet boat and sailing. Water is clean and we have nice walking stretch to the light house.

We arrived on the early side at 9:30 during the week and there were only a few other people. The park and the beach are well cared for. There is good lifeguard protection starting at 11:00. The walk out on the pier is always nice. Weekends can get busy so give it a try during the week and it will be a pleasant experience.

Had a burger from Bill Greys, outside. So nice to experience. Almost had to share with a pushy squirrel, well they have to eat too. We walked across the street to Abbotts and had some ice cream! Waiting for my friend to cone out of the rest room, I tried out a swing. Its safe and boy was it fun!

This is a great park with a a playground, a pier, and a lighthouse at the end. There are many picnic shelters and a nice Boardwalk. The only Improvement that I could think to make is Park benches out in open spaces instead of just a few along the sidewalk.

I have been coming here to walk the pier since I was a baby! On my 56th birthday I visited from Florida! I always loved the merry go round! Even though there was recent flooding, we still enjoyed walking along the river & around the park! I love being near the water!

Very nice park. The beach was clean. We had a picnic dinner with family and it was clean area. We walked the pier and was very nice as well. Definitely will visit again.

Good place to hangout. The walk on the pier towards the lighthouse looks and feels cinematic. The beach feels great too. Perfect place to be on a sunny day.

Great park with everything you want. Bathroom, changing room, big wide beach, carousel (closed for the season), lots of pavilions for parties, grills.

A place near and dear to every true Rochesterian. The beautiful outlet of the mighty Genesee River with two imposing piers, sandy beach, and the colorful and charismatic Lake Ontario, cannot beat it. Surrounded by lots of great eateries. Amazing park with carousel, gazebo stage, playground, shelters galore, bathhouse with pickleball courts, sandy beach, long pier in great condition. Also home to the Port of Rochester, with marina and restaraunts inside. Also, a great place to go birding at all times of the year!

Four stars cause they close the water off for in my opinion small 3-4 foot waves. Im from Lake Superior where those would be average waves... But otherwise nice beach, nice and a nice adjacent park

I like driving up and parking and watching the boats come and go. usually if its a nice day there is a lot of activity with people coming and going. There is a Bill Grays there and the food is excellent especially their worlds greatest cheeseburger. Also their milkshakes.

Excellent place to go for a Beach Day Very convenient FREE parking without any beach access fees.Excellent places to eat and drink within walking distance. Better than any beaches near Buffalo and well worth the trip.

This a free beach with sufficient parking. There’s plentiful sand for playing and laying, and 1/2 mile of water for swimming or floating.Today we picnicked and swam here. We used a charcoal grill there for our burgers and dogs.Many mature trees offer shady spots to get out of the sun. There is also a boardwalk for walking, a playground, bathrooms, and showers.The carousel was not open due to COVID-19.

This was my second visit and this is a great place for sunset views. The walk is decent to the light house and perfect.

Soft sand, warm water, small waves makes this beach a fine destination. The only negative is their public service announcement that bans swimming often enough. Go there early so you dont get the crowds. And dont forget the sunscreen.

For a city beach park, its clean and has a decent amount of space to play or walk the shoreline. Theres also the city pier for a long, pleasant walk out on the water. Its a great place to go when I dont want to make the longer trip east or west to state park beaches.

The weather was nice. My daughter was getting married there. We had a very spacious shelter to social distance 12 people. The gazebo was available so the actual ceremony took place there. It was very close to the shelter.

Great park to visit and see the boats come to shore and dock. It’s our 3rd time in the years. Birth relaxing and entertaining!

I really enjoyed my trip to this beach. It was a large beach, plenty of room for social distancing. The sand was soft and easy on the feet and the water was perfect.

Just looks like a place where you can have a blast if the weather is right. Bathrooms were clean and warm. Views were breathtaking. I have to come back in the summer.

My visit was excellent, views great, nice fresh breezes, and picnic benches! Areas for children to ride their bikes,on the bus line,restaurants near by and parking is close! This is a great treasure and treat for Rochester, NY

There is so much potential for the area. It draws a good crowd for all different people. The flooding has been harsh and they really need to get the stagnant water out before there are more problems.....if they put in a couple more family oriented restaurants like a pizza shop or sub place they would do well....The carousel closed at 7 which seemed like a waste because the area had a lot going on with the tall ship in port and the weather finally cooperating.

The beach was super clean! But the water was VERY muddy (almost like quick sand! Definitely not able to swim).

A beautiful place to spend an afternoon, an evening or an entire day. A spot Ben and I hold close to our hearts as one of our first days together was spent here. Walking along the pier is a lovely way to relax and have good conversation while enjoying the sights and sound of the Ontario River. Free concerts and events are held here frequently. Great place for a family outing or some alone time. Everyone should indulge and experience this park.

Pleasant evening for a walk but no one was following safety guidelines... Police were without masks and seen talking with individuals within arms reach... Observed multiple large party groups and small fraction had masks... Would have liked to stay for sunset but the crowds were too lacks for comfort.

Ontario lake is huge! The beach was nice and like a beach youd find by the ocean. The lake is shallow for quite a while so it would be great for children to play in.

In the am place is great for coffee or excercise. In the pm we are back to the early 80s. Those of us that have been here know what i mean. Thanks bail reform. Not for families after 5pm. Be safe!

I am surprised at how few people have mentioned this: to get into clear water, you have to wade through about 10 feet of thick, dark green sludge. It’s disgusting. This is not the beach where you can sit by the water and plant your feet in the waves. Other than that it’s OK.

Used to be a nice place to go, but now every time I go there is trouble makers and no peace. The water is filthy,no one cleans up after themselves, and there is garbage all over the beach lately. It is sad because it used to be such a beautiful place

This is a nice place to go when its not at peak times. Pretty and well groomed beach and a nice pier to walk on.

If you want to come & just sit in the sand- this is a beautiful beach. DO NOT come if you want to swim- this beach is CLOSED for swimming. There are no signs stating this- so we carried all our stuff in & set up- then 30 minutes later, lifeguards rolled out a rope & forced everyone out of the water & behind the rope. Very disappointing to our 5 year old & 1 year old to have to leave the beach..

Soft sand, decent size, park with trees, plenty of paths and a boardwalk. Nice for a stroll or tanning, but the water is not always good for swimming.

Beautiful park, Unfortunately, the city has neglected to enforce littering laws in this lovely park. My wife and I walk there daily and have witnessed many employees and local residents volunteering to cleanup. Overnight accumulation consisting of broken bottles, garbage, dirty diapers and dog feces. Many signs declaring no bottles or pets allowed are in obviously ignored.

Love this beach! The bathrooms were open and theres a nice playground.

This would have been 5 stars except the bathrooms were disgusting. I felt like Id stepped into a sewer. However the beach is gorgeous and the water was refreshing. There has been a lot of rain so the water wasnt as clear as it was last time we were there. The lake is so big its like swimming at the ocean only there is nothing big enough to eat you close to the shore line.

The left side of the beach near private homes is always very quiet.

A pleasant park with a great view. Walking all the way down the pier makes for a nice long walk.

This is a fun place for us to visit. It is nostalgic for me because I grew up in the area. The Merry Go Round is my favorite and is so fun for the kids. I enjoy walking the boardwalk and playing in the sand. We always walk the pier. Overall it is just a great place to go. I do not know how safe it is at night nowadays but our last visit we were there in the late afternoon. Oh and always get some Abbotts Custard!!

Last week we ordered and were served without our mask on 8/8/2020.. today 8/15/2020 we were refused service for not wearing one. The young boy that waited on us was the person that took our order both times. *not to mentioned the second time we got our whole order processed and was handing our card to pay before he said anything & refuse service.I dont care that you want to follow a policy but, I do care if it changes weekly..I will post on social media my experience with this company and discourage people from patronizing this establishment.

Ten degrees cooler than the city. Abbots ice cream and benches available. Plenty of parking. Moderate police presence ( some you dont see unless you were in law enforcement yourself, plain clothes )

There was Seeweed and Mussels all over and it really Smelled Terrible. 1st. Time experiencing this at the Park Beach. Normally have an Awesome time there.

Excellent access to the Ontario/Genesee River inlet for fishing, hiking, or picnicking.

The beach is kept pretty clean. Lots of space where you dont have to be on top of other beach goers. Get here early like before noon if possible. Water is clear .

Good atmosphere and children friendly. Pretty dirty water at the shore but at least it’s nice to have a walk to the pier or play volleyball at the beach. Sometimes catch a bunch of fish near the rocks along the pier, sometimes just wasting time sitting there watching the seagulls chasing people

Beach was closed so we didnt stay but its a nice place for a walk along the pier or to grab a cone. The port has definitely undergone lots of improvements of the past few years.

Visited on an early October morning and watched a beautiful sunrise over Lake Ontario from the end of the pier.Numerous fishermen trying for salmon, trout and perch.The beach looked nice with volleyball nets and picnic areas barbecue grills.

Some days its great, others too busy, it just depends. Beach is pretty clean, everyone is socially distant which is good to see

Just gross... water is pea soup and smells like dead whale. but at least no one is social distancing or wearing masks correctly...

The Ontario Beach Park is my favorite or #one beach park around Lake Ontario. It has the combination of a sandy beach, grassy park, playground, structure parking space, and a beautiful view of the lake - free entrance. It is a wonderful place to take pictures, exercise or go for a walk with family and friends.

Love being down by the water. Many walks down the pier.

My wife and I would come here in the morning to drink our morning coffee when we visited Rochester NY. Very beautiful, quiet, clean and everyone we met was very friendly. The long video is of a cement ship that comes and goes once a day. Quite a sight to see such a huge ship!

My family loves this beach... its clean and well watched by lifeguards and they even have things to borrow to be able to play and have more fun. The kids cant get enough plus us adults have a blast too!

There are a lot of really nice Businesses within the area to go to and check out.

Its usually nice down there. Just wish some people would be a bit more considerate with the loud music. The park needs more benches along the board walk

Stunning beach, but I wish there were more police presence to ward off people that just want to hide and smoke pot. Certain days of the week seem to attract different kinds of people. I love attending festivals that are hosted in the park since theyre so close to the beach.

My family and I had a great time!! We enjoyed the beach as well as Abbots ice cream which is conveniently located right across the street.. They also have food shops and a carousel .. Perfect place to take the family and have FUN!!!

I cant believe we are so lucky to have a place like this in our backyard. The pier and boardwalk were in great condition and the beach was freshly combed and wonderful. The carousel was awesome. My only complaint was the staff at the carousel was smoking cigarettes in plain view. Other than that it was in great condition and added to a perfect day.

It was a great little park. You should definetly ride the emu. Best carousel ride 10/10 go here

The beach was empty for a week day. Very clean. I have not been in the last few years. The size of the beach is smaller. Not the fine yellow sand that I remember.

Going to Charlotte is like going home. Beautiful place. Charlotte!

Crowded this time of year, but the pier is lovely and the beach is nice to walk along the paths of.

It looks so beautiful but the water had so much algae it was pretty gross. It smelled bad. Its no ones fault and the place is nice, lots of spots to eat or have a picnic. But I was looking forward to swimming and it was very disappointing.

Quite enjoyable found a ladies credit & benefit card had to walk around to find a Police so I could turn it in. Most people were honoring social distancing, Yes it was a very rewarding day for me and my friend... And if I may speak for others- We all had a nice pleasurable time with family & friends and pets.

Its always been a staple of Rochester. When it comes to the summer months, its impossible to not find yourself in a state of affinity with the natural surroundings and the people. Which is why it is so important to protect this place and continue to restore the lake
