What a wonderful place for an adventure! The park is abundant with walking trails, mature trees, historical buildings, flower gardens and wildlife. Home to the lamberton conservatory, and a reservoir there are hills for sledding, benches for sitting and open areas where festivals are held. This is truly a year round park. If you love the outdoors and nature, you will find plenty of joy here.

Beautiful park, from the lilac festival to just a visit to the reservoir, this park provides a nice place to slow down and recharge, get in a quick run, or walk the pup. The Highland Bowl, college town, and the mount hope cemetery are all a quick walk away. The Veterans Memorial is exceptionally done and shows the reverence, patriotism and creativity fitting Rochester and her people. If youre new to the area, just visiting, or have lived here for some time, this is a great place to spend some time.

The Lilac Festival and Art in the Park was an excellent family event. The flowers were amazingly beautiful. I loved the arts and craft stands....very talented. And the variety of food stands and trucks made it easy to get anything you wanted. The atmosphere and environment was very friendly. The reservoir was beautiful...I never realized it had a fountain. There were performers along the walkway through the lilac trees singing and playing instruments ....that was very enjoyable.

I love this park for many reasons. The walking trails are easy but on a hilly landscape. There are many benches and picnic tables placed sporadically throughout the park. Some are quaint little areas that offer privacy or just a place to meditate or reflect. The indoor botanical garden, and war memorial are places to visit. There are gardens throughout and different species of vegetation that are placed throughout the park with plaques that give the scientific name of different shrubs. This park is wonderful for horticultural enthusiasts.

Many people and out running. My husband and I found a nice spot and ate lunch amidst the rain drops and enjoyed being outside. Thankful for such a beautiful park. Great, well maintained park. If theres no snow, there are flowers in bloom somewhere in the park! Great paths for walking, strollers, wheelchairs (though there are some hills). The only issue is the new(ish) playground is inaccessible by stroller or wheelchair. Also there are no bathrooms available anymore except in the conservatory.

I love going to the park at this time of year to see the lilacs. The trick is figuring out the optimal time to go to avoid a crowd and have optimal weather. I went early in the morning (before 8) and only came across a handful of people- enough to maintain physical distancing relatively easily, I also had a mask on (I wish everyone did.) Overall it was a very pleasant experience, I would have given 5 stars except the trash cans were overflowing.

I grew up in Rochester just a mile down the road from Highland Park. Lilacs rang in the spring season that I eagerly looked forward to. The grounds of Highland Park were and are still after 18 years away, like a poets dream, with grassy gentle rolling hills, benches conveniently scattered throughout, gorgeous trees with decades sometimes a century+) of history, little surprises and niches evoking early 1900s sensibilities, as well as finely manicured and designed grounds and flower beds to admire, and upgrades to the Park such as the Lilac Adventure Park made from fallen trees from the park. Like a little paradise right within the city and a year round delight, and truly one of Rochesters original and prevailing natural gems.

This park is amazing. I went last week, so not too much was in bloom. It’s beautiful and easy to navigate around the trees (free maps are available at the conservatory) and get to the areas of interest to you. The trees are labeled, which is informative of you see something you like. It must be fantastic when the lilacs, rhododendrons, and crabapples are in blooms. I hope to go back!

I love this park. Its one of my favorite places to go for a walk in Rochester. I love all the different kinds of trees from all over the world. Its also a park that has had people investing in it for several generations, and I love the sense of history behind all of these trees that have been brought from other parts of the world. Each tree has its own buds, its own leaves, its own flowers, its own shapes and patterns and colors. And the trees themselves change each season. I never get tired of this park.
