I pretty much grew up at this venue. Pretty much there every week for a show. So sad to see this closed. I always had a blast there and the venue staff were always great. Water Street was a landmark and probably the best venue I have ever been to (and Ive been to hundreds up and down the east coast and in Canada.) I hope one day someone will buy the venue and bring Water Street back. I honestly dont think Funk N Waffles will be there very long.

I love Water Street Music Hall for many reasons. For one, I love how small it is for the nights that you want an intimate show, but can also seem big enough when you want a more crazy, powerful show. The sound quality in general is fantastic, and the staff is friendly, and the security is great as well.

I really like this venue. It is a great place to listen to music and have a good time. Also the bar tenders are attentive and the drinks are very reasonable for a concert venue. The security is on point as well which I appreciate.

Shows here are far from disappointing... The sound in there is always on point, not sure if they have a sound guy or if its just the acoustics in there. All shows are so up close and personal. I love this venue, and highly recommend catching a show here. Beers are even very reasonable which is nice considering its a concert venue. Ive been to at least 15 shows here over the years. I highly recommend checkin it out..

Great Venue to see touring bands. The shows are as advertized and they always start on time which is great. I also like the fact that you can get as close as you want or hang in the back to see a show.

Its a very large warehouse turned into a bar. It does have a second floor that sometimes is closed. The 2nd floor is a great vantage point. Bartenders seem to be on the ball even when its packed. They are there if you want water or a drink. Service is great. Just the parking can be a pain but thats Rochester.

Awful...I went to a show and they kicked out multiple people...including myself for no reason..I was in the front row for hours before the main act came on and I was confronted by security and kicked out because they suspected me of underage drinking in the building (this also happened to two other people near me at the same time) and was treated very poorly by the security there. They said my xs on my hand were also washed off, my left one was completely on my hand and my right one was half worn away but not gone. I had meet and greet tickets as well and was completely robbed of my chance to meet and see the main act. Terrible. I never even had a sip of alcohol and didnt even do as much as hold a beer can, I wish they breathalyzed me to prove it

We bought tix to the J Cole show the nite they went on sale; at that time, age requirement was 16 yrs. My daughter was ecstatic. The next day, the age requirement rose to 18 yrs. No explanation why although I did email and ask. It seemed highly suspect that the only Hip Hop act they have is also the only one they are requiring 18 yrs and older. My daughter is a HUGE J. Cole fan and has been waiting for him to tour since he dropped his latest CD. Extremely disappointed by this venues obvious discriminatory view toward Hip Hop acts and angry because as much as I would like to enjoy this artist live, in concert, I refuse to give my money to a venue that doesnt want kids of color attending their events.

Waited nearly an hour after the doors were scheduled to open outside still waiting for the doors to open, had a mix-up at Will Call on the fault of the venue that almost left me without a ticket, was confused as to why no water was available for free (from either a fountain or tap), and was subjected to the incompetency of the mixer as well as a massive barrage of flash photography from the balcony from the venues photographers every two minutes. This place sucks.

I will start by stating that Lotus, who played January 29th was excellent. Great music, good vibe, etc. Everything besides that was horrible and the new ownership should be ashamed of themselves. The line to get in on a night when it was around 5 degrees outside was one of the most disorganized messes I have seen at a concert venue ever. Many people were forced to huddle together for warmth and to shield from the wind. They were understaffed and not at all ready for the crowd. They handled everyone very rudely and told quite a few people to suck it up you live in Rochester and should be use to it. AGREED, if I was in line for 5 minutes not 45 minutes! Furthermore, a little better planning around getting your liquor license might have been a good idea before taking over the place. New ownership took over months ago and the bar is still not aloud to serve. Lotus = excellent / Water Street Music Hall = much improvement needed and wont be back soon

Its a decent venue, a smaller version of places like the 930 club and Rams Head in the DC/Baltimore area. The bar can get crowded enough that you dont even try to get a drink (as expected) and the parking situation sucks. They dont have a ton of shows mainly just weekends with the odd weekday here and there. They tend to book a lot of local artists and weird genre music. There is a major lack of current Indie rock/singer-songwriter/acoustic rock artists/bands. Ive seen a few good shows there (G. Love, Matt Nathanson, Rachel Platten) over the past couple years but the gap between bands I want to see is usually big enough that I stop looking at their email blasts. Ill hear about a band Im interested in via facebook or twitter from other fans or the bands themselves.

Some Jamaican singers urge people to kill gay people. Beenie Man, in December 2009, sang of slitting the throats of gay people. And yet Water Street Music Hall offers their stage to this performer.Buju Banton, now in jail on drug charges, writes that people should attack gays with Uzis or automatic weapons. And yet Water Street Music Hall presented Buju Banton in late 2009.Let this venue know you dont appreciate its financial support of hate and violence.

Expensive, hot, no place to sit, very hard to get a drink - which is good considering how much they cost, parking is expensive or inconvenient, security is ridiculous. I looked forward to seeing GWAR for years & I was so miserable, I left without seeing them. Ill never see any band play here again.
