Great covered picnic area. I had a going away party with friwnds there at 14, my baby shower there 28 years ago, and went on a date there last weekend for a picnic. Simple but pretty with a small play area for young kids and a dog park. Nice little park.

Good dog park always have a good time especially when other dogs are there too.

In a word: meh. Playground is just ok. Not really huge, nothing special. And its old and not well maintained. Lots of other better playgrounds in the area for kids

Good park to go to if you have kids but for adults there is not much to do but walk in a field. Although they do have a decent dog park.

No where for the pet parents to sit, gates do not latch well, and the grass is bare. Came home muddy, but my dog was tired. The watering area was nice for my dog.

I understand the weather and COVID have an impact on maintenence of outdoor areas that are lower priority, but wasnt overly thrilled with the grass length + tick warnings Ive gotten as being new to the area from the AZ desert. Seems like a great big space for dogs, but could be mowed and Id enjoy taking my dog there again. Perhaps it will be in a short bit.

Same obstacles as any other park. Nothing special. Looks like it hasnt been mowed in a month. Trash everywhere.

Weve visited here since my grandson was a baby, he is now 8yrs old and we still LOVE visiting thank you(Could be mowed more often and up kept a little better though )

Needed to be mowed terribly!! Took dog to the doggie park an grass was high!??? Tennis courts were locked? Looked abandoned?

The grass could be mowed more often, and needs a water source.

Dog park. Horrible and disgusting. Unmowed tall grass with piles of dog poop everywhere. Which stinks because it could be awesome. I will never take my dog there again. There are fenced areas for large and small dogs but both areas are unkempt. There is no shade and only one ratty picnic table to sit. Nope.

Is a great park to have fun and has bathrooms .

Dog Park: I havent visited the other half of the park. Weve only been to the dog park side.I love that there is lush grass there. The other dog park in Roanoke is 98% gravel/dirt and theres just a tiny strip of trampled grass.This park is much different. Its quiet and peaceful.There are 2 big shade trees and a water fountain with two faucets up high for humans, and one thats lower to the ground for pets to drink from.It also offers bags for your pets defecation, so you dont need to bring your own.There are 2 enclosed areas, one for small dogs and one for larger pets.An awesome dog park.

Lots of different people always stopping in. Dogs seem 2 love it. The water is shut off 4 the winter, so bring some for you buddy!

Roanoke City does a great job at this park. It is clean and well maintained. The grass has really filled in well since winter. My dog and I love to go here to socialize!

Lots of different groups of people can gather here at the same time and still have plenty of room.

Have never really had a problem here. Many things to do, very spacious.

Didnt feel safe with my 4 yr old and a transient man hanging out watching us. Not very safe.

Extremely sketchy. Always some creepy drunk man hanging out at the picnic tables and there’s at least one person living in their car in the parking lot at the moment. I really wish there were more parks with baby swings around here because I don’t feel safe bringing my child to this trashy park... even in the middle of the day!

Lots of space and a nice pavilion to have events in. Not too much parking however

Couple of holes in the yard that could potentially cause problems (injuries) and was due for a mow, otherwise it was clean, flat and a good size play yard for both large and small dogs. Our dog even enjoyed the water fountain upon leaving the park.

If you have some doggos that enjoy the outdoors and the company of other fellow doggos, bring them to Thrasher park. There are water fountains, large open areas to run around in, and there is a smaller section for the small puppos if you are terrified that they will be treated as dog toys for the big boys at the park. Great place to walk around and just enjoy the fresh air.

Perfect dog park

I have been playing basketball there for for over 30 yrs. Now I take my kids there to play basketball and on occasion cookout for bday parties. Great playground area and swings, Tennis Courts, and great place to take dogs for a walk(there is even a fenced in area for dogs to ruin and play

Grounds up keep is lagging, especially with mowing and trash. Neighborhood isnt the safest. The dog park is not as good as Highland park.

Beautiful park. Really big. With large fields, rolling hills, a baseball/softball field, basketball court, lots of playground equipment, covered picnic table pavilion, tennis courts and a large 2 sided dog park.

Big park with grills, swings, a big playset with slides and a basketball court. A very nice, new, humongous dog park right next to the main park. Tennis courts are rubbish. Grass is usually always cut and the grounds are typically in good shape.

Gonna give this place a no. Its either always empty with that one sketchy lone adult just hanging around or if full there are older teenagers that use inappropriate language around my kids.It gets only because it still has swings and its a Pokestop.Id give it if there were a fence around the mulched playground.
