Highland Park

Really nice shady park with brick paths throughout. A few athletic fields & a disc golf course plus the playground. Lots of different things in the playground and the equipment is new and in good shape. Great playground for kids of all ages.

I love this park. They do an excellent job of keeping it a viable venue for recreation with its disc golf course. They have an excellent wooden stage and an amphitheater type area that my church meets in during the pandemic when the weather is permitting. They keep the grass mowed and have an excellent section for people with dogs who want to walk them and train them and run them. It is an excellent experience going to this park.

Beautiful place for a morning walk! There is a smorgasbord of possibilities here. Bring a frisbee for a round of golf, a basketball or baseball equipment for a game, a dog to play in the dog park, a mat for some yoga on the stage or meditate in the fountain garden. Thanks Roanoke City for providing and maintaining!

Took a walk up to the skate spot at 1 am after getting lead on for two months and then ghosted. Was walking away from the spot and got jump scared by a Rabbit that darted right next to me, a few more steps and I saw someone sitting in the grass shined my light on them to make sure it was a person and then apologized. Whoever it was started doing sit ups in the grass after I turned my light off. Idek man. Lifes weird.

Boyfriend plays once a week here and he loves it. The disc golf course is very well maintained as well as the park in general. Beautiful and we love it!

A very clean park with multiple amenities throughout. Theres playground equipment, a skate park, Frisbee goals, and a dog park. Parking can be a little tight on a busy day but you can always eventually find a spot.

Played the disc golf course. Its simultaneously open and well shaded. Great for a hot summer day.

This is my favorite park been going to it since I was a small boy. I even went to the elementary school across the street from it. It has changed over the years though to keep up with the times. I still continue going to this park with my grandbaby and this is her favorite also. This park is fur baby friendly too

Love highland park...some many things to do there plus dog park and festivals. I have been going there since my grandfather lived king gerorge ave..it was a must go to as a kid..now as a 50 year old, i get just as must fun out of it with my own kids now as i did then..

Nice park, but some of the residents around the park arent so nice !!

Nice little park. Big enough for people to spread out and enjoy. Somewhat heavily used but rarely crowded. Football field, basketball court, tennis court and dog park. Small skate area. Only things you gotta watch out for is aggressive frolfers throwing blind over hills or around trees.

Fun 9 hole disc golf course

THIS IS A SPECIAL PARK THAT WAS DONATED BY MR. GISH TO THE CITY OF ROANOKE. IT HAS A NICE FENCED IN AREA FOR SMALL, MEDIUM AND BIG SIZE DOGS TO PLAY WITH OTHER DOGS OF SAME SIZE. HAS A TENNIS COURT. PLENTY OF GRASSY WALKING AREAS AND PLAYING FIELDS FOR BASEBALL, FOOTBALL AND POSSIBLY SOCCER. CONCRETE AREA FOR SKATE BOARDS AND ROLLER BLADING. OVERALL A WONDERFUL FAMILY GATHERING AREA. ROANOKE POLICE MONITORS THE PARK MAKING IT SAFE. AWESOME!

Roanoke Paw Watch at Highland Park was a great event with a great message. Keep your ears and eyes open as youre walking your dog and notice anything that doesnt seem right. Call 911. All the four-legged furry kids seem to have a good time. There was even a pie eating contest for the furry kids.

My first time at this park. Its a beautiful park. Very clean. Plenty of parking. A great place to take a walk or to bring your to. They have a big area set aside for small dogs and big dogs. (Big being over 20lbs) . Highly recommend.

Disc golf course is excellent

Great place to take little kids since they have a nice playground, which is also used by the school across the street during school hours. Great place to take the dog since they have a dog park, one area for small dogs and one for bigger ones. There is a baseball diamond, and even a small area that many use for a skate park on top.

Great playground for my 3 year old. Now that school is back they have recess there so she was able to play with a bunch of different kids. Nice walking areas and places to sit as well

I just love this park. It has tennis courts, soccer field, baseball diamond, basketball court, skating ring and disc golf field within it. It also has playground for toddlers and one small dogpark within its limits. I just love this park.

Beautiful park situated right in downtown Roanoke. There is a 9 hole disc golf course here, also a fenced in dog park. It can get alittle busy in the summers, also stay out of the woods near the railroad tracks there is a lot of broken glass and homeless trash in there.

Great environment

What a big old grand city park this is. Rolling hills, tremendous trees, childrens play ground, public restrooms, a fountain, what else could you ask for. Even sledding in the winter.

One of my favorite parks. It is usually very quiet; make sure to visit the dog park.

Lots of room friendly people and a good atmosphere

Could get more stars if they put in Port John during cold months. Bathrooms closed in winter. Dog park and nowhere for us humans to relieve ourselves. Parks and Rec need to realize not everybody who goes there lives nearby. And some may bike or walk there.

Irresponsible dog owners dont pick up their dogs feces in the common areas, and the fenced in dog parks are not much better.

A great Hidden Gem in the center of historic Old Southwest neighborhood. Most people dont know but there is a tennis and basketball court on top as well as a huge field to play many numerous games. There is also the citys first dog park with two areas one for smaller dogs and one for larger. They do also have a playground that is in front of Highland Park Elementary. The Alexander Gish house is also located at the end of Walnut Avenue but inside the park. They have monthly Community meetings every third Thursday of the month except for December.

Went for a Geocache - walked across the whole park, walking trial was brick and kind of uneven, but other than that the whole park was very nice and a very nice environment, large open field, football goal posts, Frisbee golf course, basketball court with two opposite goal posts 1 looked high school level-, dog park, gazebo in a very nice and pretty area, fountain area and playground at the entrance, very nice park all around.

Beautiful park, great place to wander around with your camera. They have a really wonderful playground, frisbee golf, baseballdiamond and a large dog park where your pup can run! I love this park!

I really like this park. Its a classic American town park, with sporting fields, disc golf, and a picturesque neighborhood surrounding it. That being said, I noticed a fair bit of broken glass scattered about while playing disc golf and the bathrooms are very outdated. I didnt notice any water fountains either, although there was a very nice fountain near the entrance.

Highland park is a wonderful place. Friendly people of all ages gather here. Theres a joging/bike path, skate park, tennis court, frisbee golf course, basketball court, baseball/softball field, playground for kids, a football/lacrosse/soccer field, and a dog park. All that and theres still a large area with just trees, grass, picnic tables, and walking paths.
