My kids and I love Elmwood Park! When its warm, they play in the sprinklers at the ampi-theater. We have even been pleasantly surprised by the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra playing songs from some of our favorite movies while there. We keep the festivals on our calendar and attend as many as possible. Sitting in the park during a lunch break nearly guarantees a squirrel visit. The playground behind the library has a unique and fun pirate ship theme. Its a very short stroll from the farmers market, which is a big bonus for us.
A gorgeous part of downtown that is perfect for a sunny midday walk or a peaceful midnight stroll.
Very nice park but the homeless are sleeping there and bathrooms need to be open on the weekends.
Great place to go put your headphones in listen to some toons and relax.
Good place, clean restrooms and nice playground things for kids
I love this park its so beautiful,Roanoke and Virginia clean, green and nice people
Beautiful park for lots of different activities from concerts, festivals, & ice skating to weddings, strolling, & catching Pokemon!
Fabulous park in the middle of Downtown Roanoke. They hold many events throughout the year and this is always a great place to come. The Ampitheater is the centerpiece to the park and has hosted numerous concerts from many great artists. Prices are generally reasonable and the view is great regardless of where you sit.
The park is very nice and not alot of people at one time.
They have a great ice skating ring there around the winter time then they have the food festival also something great go check it out
Great place to go with family and friends
Wish they had a playground for kids but the space is beautiful and it has an amphitheater too!
Very nice place. Well kept, maintained, and clean. It was a beautiful day and peaceful when I was there but Im sure its LIT when they have events amd stuff here. But its also great for a little leisurely walk or lay in the grass. I didnt notice ant homeless people there, but also didnt see any cops so seems like there would be no one to harass you.
Good place to enjoy nature and the surroundings
Great playground and great walking area. The flowers here are amazing as well.
Great Concert Area but its not a park in my book because of no play ground
Elmwood Park in Roanoke City is a beautiful Park. They have great concerts through the spring & summer season.Downtown location is close to great shops and resturants.Great events Wing Feast.. Strawberry Festival..and more.Parking garage with other parking lots available.
In Roanoke for a conference and searched for interesting spots to hike, geocache and spend a few hours outside. Elmwood Park was great on both counts. A very interesting area, especially the Art Walk. There were people walking, biking, lounging and just enjoying the open space and all it had to offer. Returned a second evening just for the exercise and relaxation. Very close to restaurants, shopping and other entertainment.
Such a unique venue for Roanoke.
I like it its pretty
Fun for all ages. For the kids that dont want to skate they can play on the slide. A new favorite for me
I love the new venue. Its brought in some great bands and hope it continues to do so! Clean and scenic.
I love this beautiful venue. 4,500 people were able to get in quickly but without feeling hurried, watched a wonderfully-produced and great sounding concert, and were able to leave efficiently and in a short amount of time. This place is appealing, organized, well designed, comfortable, and very enjoyable. Thanks for everything, Elmwood Park.
The park is clean, scenic, and has interesting art along the walkway. Being outside in such beauty is always a pleasure. Go enjoy it yourself. You will be glad you did.
Its a great place to go and see any Band or group that you would like to see! Its a great view from anywhere in the Ampatheater down low or up high its all good ️ Plenty of vendors selling your favorite foods or to quench your thirst! Great service to get those Cold Brews! Easy access to restrooms and no waiting in line! Sold Out Show and the place was packed and ready to rock! Foreigner put on a great show and did not disappoint! Sounding like the old days! Playing all there original Hits! It was a show Ill never forget! Thank you to everyone that had a hand in bringing the Foreigner Concert to Elmwood Park in Roanoke VA. ️️️
A relaxing park in the middle of downtown. Good place to take the kids especially since the library is located there as well. New playground, nice walking paths, and the amphitheater host some really good performances.
Cool little place
Yet another park. More fun when the weather is warmer. Still beautiful though.
Took my nephews to the splash pad. Was having a great time when we had a group of inebriated homeless folks come from the stage where they were sleeping and other inappropriate behaviors for children to see. We ended up leaving. Sad to see and such a nice investment in the city that I didnt feel safe in.
Because this was mine and my #1 Aces visitation places!! And I love and miss him so, so much!!
Love Elmwood Park and went to a concert recently. Dont know why they let folding chairs. Anywhere people had folding chairs the space behind them was wasted for people without chairs because you couldnt see over or through them. Maybe restrict the area for them. The only people who can use the space behind them would be other people with chairs. But I love the concrete and grass levels, so easy to sit, get up and comfortable.
This is a small, clean, well-kept park. The grass is green, and its beautifully landscaped. I think its most interesting feature is that it is quite hilly, and walking around it is sure to get you some exercise whether you want it or not.
Cute little park, well kept. There was an ice skating ring and the people there were nice
Great place for love music, but they really need to do something about the food and drinks. Long lines just to get a bottle of water is ridiculous! Why cant you have tents set up just for water? Not everyone wants alcohol or food, and having to stand in those long lines just to get water is aggravating!
Have only been for one concert. Place has potential. Poorly managed as far as trash cans full, long lines for food vendors. Would be a lot more effective if gates opened sooner or more vendors were added. Maybe also utilize barriers to show line starts. Long lines and no space. Alcohol was easily accessible and plenty but long lines for food and bathrooms. Would go again.
What a terrific way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening! We enjoyed a variety of delicacies at Bacon Fest - quite filling and reasonably priced. And then, the Mavericks performed in the al fresco amphitheater in the evening. Outstanding, as usual - treat yourself to the fantastic music and stage presence of this rock/country/Latino band, as they dance the night away during their 30th anniversary tour.
Clean, modern, classy. Designed for everyone. No smoking so the air was fresh, clean and safe for everyone. Wonderful!! Shalom.
We and visiting family enjoyed Roanoke Symphony Orchestra Under the Stars performance! The Orchestra NEVER disappoints! Perfect event!
Visited Elmwood Park Saturday evening for the Roanoke symphony orchestra concert. The outdoor venue is second to none. I am not sure of the capacity but I feel there were a minimum 2000 people that attended. Very easy to get in and out of. The planning for the venue was well thought out as it flows out of the downtown space into the venue. Roanoke did a wonderful job with this space.
Not much to say, its a nice park in the city.
Love skateboarding here and it always hosts so many fun events
Possibly the best outdoor venue Ive been to.
Beautiful art walk with very unique pieces to see and within walking distance to Roanoke City Market and Center in the Square.
Very beautiful, they occasionally hold outdoor concerts. Nice place to enjoy a sunny day, wouldnt recommend walking through at night though. Night time shady characters often about.
Beautiful place to hang out at
This place is beautiful. Since the spruce up.
Very nice and relaxing place...got to see foreigner in concert there even though I didnt have a ticket but got to stand on the sidewalk and listened to the band with a sneak peep!
Very nice place to see an outdoor concert. Very walkable to downtown restaurants and bars.
Fun little pit stop. No bathroom though. The one at the bottom of the hill was closed... maybe for the night. We were there around 6:30 pm.
A park in downtown Roanoke with amphitheatre like construction. Many fun activities for families during the weekends in summer.
Ellwood on ice has a great view @ night with the lights
I went here with my sister and our children on a Friday night and loved the fountains and art. Great spot for pics!
Loved the place
Loved it great
My daughter loved playing at the Elmwood Park. We came here for the Strawberry Festival and will definitely be back. Such a well maintained and fun playground.
Beautiful urban park and amphitheater. Great place for a lunch time stroll or to catch a summer concert.
Nice park. No tables for eating but plenty of spots to sit in the grass or on a bench. Throughout the spring and summer they throw a ton of festivals (bacon fest, strawberry fest, etc.)
Very well kept, beautiful and really cute themed. (Peter Pan)
Great for a stroll through downtown or attend a festival, concert, or other event. This space has really evolved and Roanoke has done a great job keeping the park packed with events! Going there again today for a festival and bought tickets for a concert next weekend.
Always fun to come with family!
Always have a great time here but this time they over sold for the concert so it was really packed.
Nice ampirheater
When theres no events going on is the perfect place for your kids and pets. During the weekends usually theres a band or some sort of concert that goes on there thats always fun. Plenty of food and activities.
Nice park in downtown area
Real fun for adults and children ice skating!
We had a wonderful time before race day !
Great need more food vendor when they put on a big concert alcohol vendor
Awesome concert.
Amazing place to go
Great music, plenty of attractions and the kids had a good time.
It is a fantastic venue. I attend concerts all the time, however sometimes the sound guy is very clueless about what level to set the bass on his mixer during small daytime shows and it winds up being very annoying and rattles every window in the area unnecessarily.
Great park in the middle of Roanoke. Perfect for a concert or show.
They have live bands and usually vendors in the spring and summer... So you can usually find something to do. In the fall and winter its just a nice place for a stroll.
This is a great park probably the best in the city. There are cool metal sculptures, and water fountains all around and there is also a stage where bands will often come play. This is also a very popular spot for festivals and there are lots of them down there. In the winter there is also an ice rink at the park for people to skate on. This park is a very good one if you want to go for a nice walk and it is right in the center of the city.
Wonderful park and they have an ice skating rink in the winter! They also have live music in the summer. Great getaway in the middle of the city!
Elmwood Park is such a fun place to visit. It features a garden area with varied flora as well as some fun rock to climb on. The playground at the very top is Peter Pan themed with both Peters Treehouse and the Jolly Roger. You might even encounter a crocodile while youre there. Quick and easy walk from the main branch of the Roanoke City Library. My only complaint is parking - trying to go here with kids is a little hairy given that all the parking is on the street.
Decent stage, and a playground. There is a loop you can walk and events are usually laid out well. Parking in Roanoke can be a trouble.
Clean a lot of out door concerts
Great venue for the Foreigner concert but horrible vending. Long lines for few overpriced choices
There were a lot of homeless people all around there. If you have little children dont go unless absolutely necessary
They have lots of events at this location and its very peaceful to just sit back relax as and enjoy nature.
Great music venue, good place to take out of town guests
A fun place to walk around and enjoy the outdoors. Lots of events tend to pop up in this park so make sure to check their schedules before going so you arent trying to walk around a crowded park. Its walking distance from most the attractions that are found downtown and during the winter they have an ice skating rink!
Having open restrooms near the kids play area would be super helpful.
