As others have stated, the views are the best part about this place. Some of the wines are decent but they are all overpriced, and the service is indifferent at best. My best experiences here have been when they are mostly empty, the staff seems to be more friendly and open to conversation. If you show up and it is crowded, your best bet is to just skip the tasting and buy some bottles to drink on the patio. The venue, the wines, and the service all have the potential to be better, I wish someone with enough money could buy it and make that happen.

Even with the misty weather and a private party the Valhalla Vineyards accommodated us. The prices are fair and the wine is superb! I believe places like this should include a charcuterie board or cheese varies but I was still impressed with the selection! Plus, you cant beat this view!

The location, view, and wine is great. The hospitality and customer service, is not. The party I went with were not greeted warmly nor treated respectfully. An older woman behind the counter kept trying to force a more expensive (and unwanted) option to us even after we expressively told her no. She was more focused on how much we would be paying the facility than how our first experience to the vineyard was; constantly being talked over and being met with a rude attitude is all I will remember about the visit.

We had a great time tasting, touring the wine cave, and then drinking wine outside overlooking the mountains.

Weve been to winery several times, and each time, Im happier than the last. Whether its trying a new wine (I am a Red person, through and through) or noticing something I missed the last time from the gorgeous view, Im hooked. You can get a food in the form of a cheese tray, or bring your own, for a Top of the Mountain picnic. Absolutely fantastic.

I went to listen to Kinnfolk, a celtic duo. I am impressed by the facility and the vista! I enjoyed the wine tasting and music. They had good social distancing. It is a place I shall return and enjoy.

Beautiful place with nice views. I’ve been here twice my 1st experience wasn’t the best but I just figured people have bad days. The 2nd time I had family in town from Michigan and took her here and needless to say I was just as disappointed the 2nd time as the 1st time. The so called “ Manager “ who doesn’t care to greet people or help advertise the wine to people or let people do tastings without huffing under her breath makes the beautiful business they have not pleasant for people. She’s either not educated on the wine or doesn’t care to help people try new wines. I will not be back.

I visited the winery on a Saturday about a half hour before the 5pm closing time. Upon arrival, the views were stunning. I enjoyed being able to see the grapes hanging on vines for the wine I was about to taste. If only I had been able to taste the wine. Immediately upon entering the building we were met with hostility. First off, we are still in the covid19 pandemic. That being said, there are no signs on the premises alerting customers to wear a mask. Adding to this was the fact that not a single other patron was wearing a mask. We were planning on doing a quick tasting and enjoying a glass of wine. One of the ladies working there came out from the back and immediately yelled at us for not wearing a mask. Even though nothing was posted. We quickly put a mask on and the lady continued saying things about the masks. This is the rudest I have been talked to at any public retail or restaurant establishment. We learned quickly that our business was not wanted and left. I wish I could say I tasted the wine, but from reading other reviews I think I spared my taste buds the pain. Wish I could give zero stars.

Absolutley the worst service imaginable. Rude from the moment we walked in, place was dirty. When we went to walk outside with the wine, the lady yelled to stop us and told us we couldnt leave with our glasses. We were simply walking outside like everyone else with our paid for wine. If I could give it zero stars it more than deserves less than 1!!!!

Valhalla is a beautiful place to sip wine...if only you felt welcome there. The two stars are for the view only. We visited the winery to celebrate a birthday and felt as if we were imposing. My mother overheard one of the staff members comment about us not purchasing enough wine...we bought several bottles (more bottles purchased than if we had chosen to celebrate elsewhere). As closing time approached, instead of saying, thank you for joining us or thank you for your business we were coldly told that they would be locking the doors at 5pm. We were gone before 5 and likely wont be back. Do not recommend unless youre in the mood for hostility and mediocre wine.

The view and tasting room are nice. Did the standard wine tasting. The only wine that my friend and I could tolerate was the white sangria. Im not into dry wines but can usually imagine having the wine with a meal. Not so here! All the other wines I tried were horrible! A week before, at another winery, a Roanoke area man said his wife described one of the Valhalla red wines as making her think of licking a sweaty horse! I think I know which one she referred to. I may return for the view some time, but not for the wine.Maybe the reserve wines are better, but theyre pricy. If you like dry wines, Maybe youll like their wines.

Was disappointed in the wine tasting event on Jan.5. I had pictured sampling the wines while seated and listening to the live music they had there. Had to stand while sampling, the band did not play all the while I was there and there were not enough places to sit...tables were all occupied, so I didnt purchase any wine to drink. Didnt really care for the wines either. There was only one that I kind of liked.

Wines are nice, staff are pretty unhelpful. If the wines are named after Wagner characters and operas, employees should probably know a few basic facts about those characters and operas.I recommend doing the reserve tasting. Costs more, but the wines are much better. They have a great variety of reds. Its pretty busy here on weekends, but worth bringing a picnic lunch for the view.

The wine tasting was all-inclusive, but they served each wine in same glass for all, so didnt get true flavor or bouquet. Should at least provide a water rinse between wines. The person serving was courteous and efficient. Wine was a tad harsh, but the view was absolutely spectacular. We enjoyed a bottle of wine by the outside fireplace. Will certainly go again and take out-of-town guests to see our beautiful valley.

We drove to Roanoke to run the Blue Ridge Marathon, and looked for a local winery open on Sundays. My wife and I are wine connoisseurs; however, immediately upon arrival, we did not feel welcome by the rude and arrogant staff member working. She was not only short with my wife, but not one for conversation. If you lack mannerism and hospitality, find a new line of work and spare customers having a bad experience. The only thing worthwhile at the winery was the view. Wine was subpar.

Absolutely fantastic wines and views! Valhalla Vineyards has aged wines of the best caliber that can be enjoyed with family and friends while overlooking the Roanoke Valley from the outside tables. The staff was friendly on my visit, but I was disappointed that there was no water provided to rinse my glass between tastings. Regardless of the actual property and staff, Valhalla Vineyards produces my favorite wines in the entire greater Roanoke area.
