A very unique and cool rock bridge and tower near the peak of Mt. Rubidoux park.
Historical plaque inscription:During the equestrian games of the 10th Olympiad, Lt Col Shunzo Kido turned aside from the prize to save his horse. He heard the low voice of mercy, not the loud acclaim of glory.情は武士の道 Translation: Passion is the path of Samurai.Riverside Humane Society, 1934.Unveiled in the presence of H.I.H. Prince Tsunenori Kaya.Note: Shunzo Kido was a Japanese Army Officer who competed in the steeplechase event at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles. He was one jump from a certain victory for the gold medal when he felt his horse go lame. He chose to stop and dismount, sparing his horses life, rather than complete the race and win.
