How can you not love front row seats? The center is spectacularly beautiful. The will call section was very easy to navigate. The little bar was reasonably priced and have a good selection. And I dont think there was a bad seat in the house but again, I was in the front row lol

Amazing structural architecture! The ceiling is cool! So amazing! The architectural skills and how well things were built in the early 1900s (built to last). The view of the stage was amazing from all points of view. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to see the performance of the Richmond Ballet Nutcracker!!

I attended the Virginia All State Orchestra and Chorus concert yesterday and had an absolutely magical time. I have not seen a performance in this theatre since the late 90s when I had the privilege to see “Orfeo ed Euridice” with my music theory class and the music superintendent of Hanover County Public Schools. The theatre has undergone many renovations since that day, but it is just as magical as it was back then. The sound in this space was phenomenal, so kudos to the individual or team of Acoustic Engineers that worked on the interior space. I sat in multiple places throughout the various performances and never found a dull spot for the sound.I highly encourage you to support any artist of your choice and enjoy a performance here. With so many wonderful local restaurants within walking distance (including two from the brilliant Jason Alley) there is no downside to a family outing downtown to take in a show!!

Beautiful theater. Very nice Nutcracker performance. My 7 year old boy loved the show. Get there early. The show starts right at the time on your ticket. They have you go through metal detectors and check your bag, so there is a long line and a wait to get in. Then you have to find your seat. There are multiple, helpful ushers all over to help you with this. So get there about 30 minutes early, and you will be fine. If you get there early, you can explore merchandise from the shows, and get a drink or snack at the concessions.

We went to see the Nutcracker as a family and enjoyed the performance. Unfortunately there was a lot of little kids who took away from the experience. The parents kept shushing them and letting them eat snacks. The parents did not discipline nor stopped there children from throwing garbage on the floor. This was unacceptable and the staff was very flexible. I read on the internet that they were strict but did not witness it during our attendance. I have attended the New York City ballet and it was an all around pleasant experience compared to the Richmond ballet.

We saw the Chris Tomlin Christmas concert during this visit. We arrived early to eat locally prior to the concert and were faced with the usual parking headaches found when parking downtown. Be prepared to pay cash $10 to park.We purchased tickets online and printed our paper copies. The online process was smooth. Our bags were checked at the door and we were scanned with a metal detector wand before entry. The ambiance of the Carpenter Center is breathtaking. We were very happy with our seats they were comfortable with a perfect view of the stage. The ushers were so helpful and patient as they were asked the same questions over and over. Our usher stationed by our seat even offered to take our groups photo. The bathrooms were ample, clean and had minimal wait ; all of these are rare for a venue of this size.11 of us enjoyed the concert with no appreciable downside, we will definitely do this again.

My husband and a couple of good friends attended the Vince Gill concert; it was pouring rain. It was a challenge standing in line with umbrellas everywhere to pay for parking. There was no attendant on duty; both pay stations were automated, and slow. Sometimes it worked, at times it did not! While parking/paying was a bare; once we got inside, the show was more than we expected! Vince Gill entertained his appreciative audience for 3+ hours; he never left the stage! His band members took a break while Vince pulled a stool up to the Mike; he told some stories and sang solos to us. He is a phenomenal entertainer; we are glad we went to hear him!I failed to say earlier how enchanting the theater is; the lovely venue lends itself well for extraordinary entertainment. The volunteer ushers are kind and efficient. Their actions exude enjoy the show vibes!

Lovely theater, the Richmond Symphony was fantastic. The seats are satisfactory, the views are good, and the decor, if you are into it, is spectacular. This theater is gorgeous! I was backstage as a student teacher with my 4th graders who had a performance with Minds In Motion & I was also in the balcony for their actual show. I loved how they angled the seats in the balcony so you literally did not have to worry about being able to see over someone else’s head. The sound system was great, the ceiling and overall decor is just gorgeous, and it is so clean and inviting. I’d love to go again and see other shows!

Its a beautiful theater. We were quite disappointed at having been sold seats to a section that doesnt exist (pit/orchestra seating was sold to us) and we then had to be moved back much farther than we paid for. I would still go back, but just be mindful of where your seats are when booking!

Beautiful theatre! The wife and I went to see the band Ghost here. The views from every part of Carpenter Theatre were perfect. The only complaint I have is one of the bartenders added soda to my double Jack Daniels on the rocks and I didnt ask for soda. When I brought it to his attention, he immediately treated me like I made the drink wrong for him. I was very polite and even apologized first by saying, I apologize, but I didnt ask for soda in this drink. I dont know if he was having a rough night or someone else was maybe rude to him so I didnt make a big deal out of it. I also dont believe that Carpenter Theatres review should suffer as well. If this is brought to their attention though, maybe remind them that not everyone is there to make their night difficult. The ushers were VERY nice and extremely helpful with getting people to their proper seats.
