Idlewild is a pretty big park with lots of open, grassy areas and several picnic tables. There are good walking and biking paths, too. I really enjoy listening to the Truckee River rush along as I walk. In autumn, I also like to see the huge leaves that fall from the old trees in the park. Its a nice place to spend an afternoon.
The weather was great. Went with a friend to walk her dog just to be out of the house. Not crowded. Just enough dogs and people for a pleasant outing with passing interactions.
I walk here almost every day. The Truckee river to ones right going out & the park on the left. Marvelous old trees in Idlewild like visiting a forest of green from dark to light & shades of color in between. Nature is on display. I continue to thank the founding fathers of Reno for these city parks.
Great place to take the kids. Multiple playgrounds. Nice pond and walking trails. Rose garden. Pool and river areas to swim. Sports fields and courts. Plenty pokemon go stops and gyms also. Lots to do.
Floating down the river for the first time was made exquisitely special with 5 min lightening rain storm. Fun people. Wear LOTS of sunscreen!
Large, pleasant urban park for kids, family, or exercise located along Truckee River. Lots of convenient parking.
Great trails and a river walk. Fun place to chill and have a relaxing day. Food truck Fidays are the best!!!
Spent a summer with a great gal here. She even ran it with me a few times. Will miss her haha, bittersweet. Sorry this aint a review, we laid in the grass at sunset. It was peaceful.
I like the coming here, to the baseball field and letting the dogs out to run. Nice grass field. It does get covered in goose poop tho, which is unfortunate.
My first time here. Coming from the bay area and I absolutely fell in love with this park. I would legit come back to reno just to come back to the park. Theres everything to picnic area baseball field a skating area a playground structure and my favorite the river that runs through. It was beautiful! I recommend to visit!
Great park for tons of different activities. Lots of shade. Lake front access. Dog friendly. Tons of areas to bbq and a few different play grounds. Walking trails. Also has a pool, baseball field, etc. Huge park.
OMG!!!!! This park is amazing there is something for everyone. In particular the rose gardens are amazing. If you come see them because you will want to stay in them forever. It is so cool here, and did I tell you that there is a ton of bird hear. YES, there is tons of birds here. This place is really like heaven.
The rose garden is so beautiful. Alot of geese all over which gives the park a nice feel.
Nice park with nice milieu kera downtown area, perfect for BBQ picnic, got little man made lake and swimming pool, got trees, public bathrooms, shade areas with benches for large or small group gatherings.
Always a great place to hang out. Theres a nice skate park, walking trails, picnic tables with grills, lots of shaded areas, and youre right next to entry points to the river at certain locations. Theres also a public pool (probably closed because of Rona), and playground for kids right in the main section of it.
Love the park for feeding the ducks and sk8 board park is fun to shred
Great park but PEOPLE NEED TO KEEP THEIR DOGS ON LEASHES!!!! there are so many beautiful geese here keeping the park beautiful. I witnessed a LOOSE dog attack a baby goose today..the dog owner just put the dying goose on the ground and left!!! That poor baby died in my arms and it was HEARTBREAKING!
A great park for Pokemon Go. Tons of pokestops, gyms, and frequented by fellow trainers of all backgrounds. Highly recommended for Pokemon
The rose garden is beautiful. The park is well maintained and has lots of shade trees on a hot day.
We ooters (out-of-towners) and stumbled across the Arlington river where we spotted intertubers floating down the river. Apparently theres a guy with a truck at the top of the river renting out intertubes, if youre lucky youll catch him!
Fantastic park next to the Truckee river. The shade from trees and the cold water keeps this area relatively cool even during our wicked summer days. If youre a Pokemon GO player, this place is loaded with pokestops and gyms. Head here for community day...
We were there early in the morning to access the Truckee River and do some fly fishing we noticed a couple of things The sprinklers were going off but they were washing the pathways and blacktop areas so there was quite a bit of adjustment needed there there was a parks person and I didnt want to tell them anything but thats clearly a project to adjust those. And the other thing is we saw a number of wasnt too bad but there were a few homeless people scattered about and it was a little disconcerting but nevertheless we were able to access the river and had a good time.
One ofThe lovelier parks in Reno. So many tree covered areas to enjoy the weather, but lots of shade to cool you. So many things to do at this park. Its fun to just park and watch the ball games too.
Nice during the day. Stay away at night. Creepy stuff goes down.
One if the better parks in Reno. Love the ride garden, duck park and the kids train
I think its the best Park in Reno, fishing and areas for large partys rides for kids tubing down the river beautiful Park lots of trails along the river just great place to spend some time.
So pretty came in early fall but would love to see it in the spring
One of my favorite places in Reno. There are beautiful walkways, the Truckee River bike path, river access spots, a nice park for the kids, a Rose Garden, base ball fields, reservable spaces, ponds with ducks, and more. In the warmer months they have a great outdoor pool and a cute little train ride that circles a duck pond, my son loves it and it is a family tradition take a ride every summer. The pool is nice and the bathrooms are usually well kept and well placed. Lots of open space too. This is also a great park to see the Fall colors!
Great area to walk with your family but not really your fur babies. Quite a few homeless pets offleash down there, would be careful. Beautiful area otherwise, right next to river.
Ive been going to this place for years, since my mom took us kids. Its nice to see that its still here and that I can bring my grand kids here to feed the ducks and geese. Too bad that the swans are gone. Its a very nice place to walk around the lake or just hang out at a picnic table.
Idlewild park is one of my very favorite parks in all of Reno, there is just so much to do! From the baseball fields to the skate park, and swimming at the pool in the summer. I even had my wedding ceremony in the beautiful rose garden a few years back. My favorite time of year to visit Idlewild is in the spring and especially right now in the fall! The colors are miraculous right now!
Dont get me wrong i love this park. But i would really like to just relax at a park or some where nice with out having people being loud and getting drunk. Plus it would be really nice if people would slow down when driving in the park.
I grew up, and went to High School in that area. I would and have always recommend idlewild park. (when a suggestion of the sorts is needed of course)
Nice very well maintained park that caters to many family events. From Easter hunts to food truck Friday in the summer. Always a pleasant visit for the day.
Beautiful place. The homeless and creepers in vans was sketchy. Kids and females shouldnt go alone.
Nice family park...much to do and see
Great park! Surrounded by water on both sides of park. Great for lounging or attending events like the Reno Street Food Truck event I was there for. Park had a few playground areas for the kids as well as some trails to walk or bike for adults. Also had some excersise stations located throughout for those trying to change up their excersise routine. Very clean park and great place for a family trip or some alone time.
Its a really nice place. They have a train riding around. They have a nice Easter events. Cant wait till food truck Friday in the summer.
Such a great place for a nice walk or picnic. You can walk next to the Truckee River or through the Rose Garden.
Awesome place, have spent so many days as an adult and a kid there! Great for skating baseball river experience and nice walks and great bbq area along with food truck fridays!
Lots of shade and good river access. Water was perfect summer fun.
I love this park it makes you feel disferent
Good place for people watching or being watched, I like the pull up bars.
Been on a couple dates here with various people, great park, good size, various fun things to do like play Frisbee or just run around and explore, and as a photographer, there are some really good shots you can achieve here.
Great open clean park. The Truckee flows right through her middle. Dogs and musicians welcome. Lots of shade and mile markers.
Nice park. Good for family time, picnics, biking, walking and peaceful alone time.
It remains one of Renos better parks. Park maintenance in Reno is declining and Idlewild is showing its age. Truckee Meadows Park Foundation has taken over part of this park and wherever you find TMPF you find access being limited.
Its good for outings, walks, picnics, hanging out, sports. However the river here is very rocky! Like if you have a cheap raft, better to walk it because its could pop on the rocks, seen it alot! Its also too rapid and rocky for dogs, most dogs dont dig it cus theres very few areas to actually have a landing to the water, mostly its rocks straight down to river. And not deep enough to swim. Its ok if you dont want to go in water but if you do especially with a dog, go downtown where its far less rocky and dog can actually swim.
Very lovely place for family outings and just to have a good time with friends and family.
Fun day spent at Idlewild park enjoying people, park, music, and food trucks!
Everyone should visit this place!!! Its Really nice it has a beautiful graden.
Nice park. A lot to do there.
Nice stroll during work day lunches.
Great spot to relax along side the Truckee and enjoy a quiet lunch on a warm Spring day. One of my all time favorite places in Reno.
Nice park on the river many things to do here also has swimming pull and skate park
Great scenery.
Very nice place to have a picnic and enjoy the outdoors
It was a very beautiful n scenic park
Exciting enough to be a view of natural resource, and the access to the water is ideal for fishermen and entering or exiting from raft sport. The surrounding areas to this access point are a tourists next decision to make, there is not enough time to explore it all. A great place to begin exploring Reno.
Nice place for a picnic, take a walk on the river path, or feed the ducks.
One beautiful park! Numerous large mature trees across the the beautiful landscape. From Bike paths to a horse shoe sand court this park offers many avenues for enjoying the day outdoors !
Still a great park. Rose Garden is Beautiful .
Love this park. Little ones to big ones welcome. Rarely see any criminal activity.
Great park. Love the river and the the great trail along it!
Beautiful and relaxing place to spend my lunch hour.
Beautiful scenery Im the heart of old Reno
The whole family had a great time. We packed up the picnic basket and lawn chairs and filled the trunk up and spent the day at the park. Very fun family time. My 3yr old loved the train ride. I remember riding it as a kid, now my kids can. Awesome! Great family friendly park.
This Company does very good work at reasonable prices! Are very friendly and finishes when they say they will!
Idlewild Park is a great place to enjoy the afternoon, cute dog park and beautiful place to walk around. Also don’t miss out on Food Truck Friday’s!
Very nice place to jog around
Nice big park on the Truckee river.
Big park right next to the river. It is a nice place to go for a walk or to go for a exercise session. Several places to park and walk
Beautiful park. Very open with lots to do.
Only go here for food truck Friday but its a nice big park. Kept pretty clean even for the food truck event. Has a cool little train ride and nice sized pond to walk along or a trail along the truckee river. Very nice park.
The name says it all you can either be idle and chill out and enjoy the scenery or be wild and Chase the geese and swim as youre not supposed to do either of....
Great people great peace, great sex
