W had a wonderful 10 day stay. The big rig sites are big, flat and roomy. The campground was clean, quiet, and beautiful. Well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful for our first trip out. They even would text you with alerts such as the ice cream truck. The location was perfect to visit all the National Parks here. The drive to the grocery was about 5 minutes. The only negative was the absolutely horrible WiFi. Thank god out Total Wireless worked well there. It’s on,y a few miles from Mt. Rushmore. It’s very dog friendly with a nice dog park, dog walk and free poop bags. Pricing was reasonable.
Really enjoyed staying at RSR. We are new RV owners so we really appreciated the new area of concrete pads that you can just pull through. It came in handy especially because we arrived at night. Each of the spots has its own picnic table and charcoal pit. COVID 19 restrictions were in place, so many of the amenities were closed (but without kiddos, this didnt impact our stay). The park is in a great location close to attractions. There were a couple of downsides that came with the design of the new pads: 1) the pads are all sloped downhill (to the front of the rig)--the grade wasnt too noticeable until after setting the jacks down. 2) the fire pit ended up parallel to the door and it wasnt moveable. 3) the wi-fi routers only worked part of the time (but we are finding this is pretty typical for campsites.)
Great rv park huge pull through spots. Great water pressure and steady electric. Didnt use Wi-Fi nor amenities but super base camp for the area. Staff was terrific!
Tented in the NE corner - wonderful shade, clean bathrooms and showers, fantastic pool (a bit warm) and a fun well maintained mini golf course.Stayed as guests of members and well exceeded my expectations! The one improvement I would see added would be a passive ventilation fan - or just the door propped open - for the bathrooms. Can get a wee bit stinky in the mornings, at least in the Mens!
Will definitely be back if out that way again. Very clean showers and restrooms. Great sites with fire rings. Very friendly staff. If we come with kids and grandchildren, might try a cabin.
Cleanest campground weve been too. Sites have large yards, brick fire rings, lots of paved area to ride bikes. Live this place!
Great place close to evening low membership cost very clean some noise from the highway great employees
Wow! This facility was very well kept and extremely convenient to many area attractions. The staff was friendly. Whoever owns this really seems to mind the details.
Went for a tour and was 100% on board with doing the membership until they dont allow you to use your membership every weekend. This includes the weekend of sturgis. So we are looking for a different resort now.
Very clean and well maintained campground. Cleanest bathrooms and showers Ive ever experienced at an RV campground. With all the free things they have to offer, Rushmore Shadows Resort earns a 5 star from me.There was a large hail storm (golf ball size) that hit during our stay and the maintenance crew loaned a ladder to me for as long as I needed it so I could make repairs. I noticed they were out helping everyone they could, with well over 50 rvs in the park, many of them recieving damage the staff went above and beyondThey have several large grass areas to use: putt putt, playground, pool and hot tub, horseshoe pits, pickle ball courts, and a dog run area. The staff is all very friendly and helpful.
Great spaces in this park for big rigs, a little spendy, but big concrete pads, roomy, and secure with full hookups.
This is the first campground where I ever had anything stolen. It wasn’t even anything huge extremely inconvenient. Someone stole the adapter that allows us to tow the car behind the RV so now we are stuck driving two separate vehicles!
Love this place stayed a week close to everything planning a return trip and stay
It was pretty good could use some more trees
We stayed in one of the 6 person cabins for a week, and it worked perfect. We had 6 people ranging in ages from 3 to 80 and everyone was happy with it. Great staff and amenities. The cabin was clean and maintained and well equiped. The location is great for getting to all the different tourist locations in the area and we are already talking about going back.
Great place, clean bath and showers. Bring extend electrical cords, sites share from same pole.
We loved this place. We asked for an end, little more peaceful, but the spots were a good size. This place is very well taken care of, our spot was clean, you think well sure, but all of the amenities were also pretty clean. There pool is a little run down, needs a facelift on the pool paint. The staff is very friendly and helpful, thye have onsite laundry room, showers and bathrooms (which are very clean) if youre not staying in a camper or you are and just dont want to use it.Booking was easy, the wife called and was able to get a spot pretty easy, full hook up. Fire pits at each spot and a wooden picnic table that was stained and taken care of.If we are back in the area we would try to stay there again
The campground is nice, facilities very clean. Staff is not very knowledgeable about the campground though. Would stay again.
Spent 2 weeks here and met some amazing people. The staff was always eager to help in any way that they could. We will definitely be back. Amenities were nice as well. Mini Golf was challenging, camp store had all of the necessities and more.Dog friendly park but as always keep them on a leash.New section is able to house the larger rigs. (Newly Constructed) only wish there was a Bath House in the new area or a walkway to the pool and other bath house. All in all, Great visit. We will definitely be back. Aiming for late April to mid May. Going to be an annual stopping point.Enjoy your visit and go back often. There is no way to see it all I NV 2 weeks.
Very clean facilities! Lots to do at the campground and close to Black Hills, Mount Rushmore and many other sights.
Complete Disappointment! Our cabin had FLEAS!!! It was confirmed by an Exterminator! After our stay and we were completely bitten up and itching all over our bodies!! The cabin was super cute but the stay was horrid. The next week to follow was miserable. I had to get a Steroid cream from the doctor to help clear up the damage it caused! Im sure to be scarred from the bites. My fiance got it worse than I did! They still have Not refunded our money we spent for the cabin as their manager had said that she did. Its been a week. Im going Public if they do not correct this NOW!!! I am Disgusted with how we have been ignored!!!
It is a fun beautiful place to stay and relax and have fun.
We liked it. Nice and clean and quiet (other than some traffic noise from hwy 16). Friendly staff. Price was reasonable. Kids liked the pool. Hot tub seats 6-8 people but we were able to get in for the most part. Sept 2019 long weekend didnt have much for bugs so that was nice. Things closed a bit early or opened a bit late for our tastes but it wasnt really an issue. Has a small store with basic camping supplies. Fairly central to many of the attractions.
Stayed Friday and Saturday nights as part of a promotional offer. The amenities and site was great, we stayed in Spearfish Canyon Lodge cabin and it was a beautiful, impeccably clean cabin. We attended a tour and presentation as part of our free stay, and it lasted about 2 hours. The membership package was not a fit for our family but it was interesting to learn about what they offer. Our tour guide was Jim, and he did a great job explaining everything, was very friendly and fun, and didn’t place much pressure on us. Staff at the park were very friendly, park is very very well kept and close to all the attractions you’d come visit Rapid for. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for a few reasons. Bed didn’t offer the best sleep, the presentation took longer than 90 minutes (and would have gone longer hadn’t we ended it) and on the phone we were told we’d receive dinner and show tickets for attending the presentation and we got Cosmo Mystery’s area passes. We’d been before so this didn’t benefit us. Overall, wonderful park and great staff, great amenities. We enjoyed our stay! Thanks!
Pretty cool... Fair pricing.
Very clean and homey place to stay.
Its a very family oriented park with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. A nice pool and play area. Friendly people in charge that really care about the folks that camp here.. Property is very well kept.We will be returning next year to enjoy the Black Hills.
Very nice campground! We had a pull through site, but they have back in sites as well. Some have shade and some are in the open. We had a nice large site, and although it was out in the open it was large and level, as most appeared to be. I would highly recommend! Close to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and many other interesting things to do!
Overpriced for just an overnight. Geared for families with young children. Nice, large, clean bathrooms.
Large campsites, central site with do with so much to do in the area. Weve stayed there a few times
Excellent area, great accommodations. Good hook-ups and space to accommodate small to really large campers. Good showers and laundry facilities as well as a good store with friendly staff.
We were very happy with our stay here. We were guests of a member and were treated as if we were members! We stayed in a lodge for 2 nights and were able to park our trailer- U-haul- in an RV stall that we could see from the cabin. The cabin was spacious and fit my husband and I and our 4 kids. The grounds were impeccable and staff friendly and helpful! It was a refreshing visit and loved every minute of the serene atmosphere!
Great place to stay...perfect for the family!
Very nice park. It is a membership park, but you can stay two nights and three days for $30 intensive seminar. Well worth it!Its extremely well-run. The park is clean and laid out nicely. They have added a new section for big rigs which is very nice. The only reason I did not give them five stars is with this add-on... they need another bath house and pool!
Its clean and well maintained!! Will be back
Very nice membership campground. Sites are spacious with 50 amp full hookups, people are friendly, cell phone coverage is great, far enough from the road to be reasonably quiet. They treat Coast to Coast people the same as their own members.
I love this place cuz its a place kids love
Beautiful park, super helpful staff. Close to lots of stuff to do!
Very comfortable and accommodating. Myself husband and children had a great relaxing time! Cabins are beautiful and so much better than any hotel we stayed at during our visit to South Dakota.
Spacious and well maintained. Close to awesome adventures and vistas. Relaxing or fast paced activities nearby. We love it.
The cabins, location, and service are great. They definitely need more pictures online of the sites and cabins. Even my local state parks have that. The Rushmore Shadows also needs flat areas or pads for tents. Hammock camping is the only option, unless you want to sleep on a hill.
Very nice the lodge we stayed in was very clean and well up kept. We did go on the tour about 2 hours . No high pressure sales at the end a simple yes or no purchase. Not a time share . Great location . Mins from main attractions . Very family and pet friendly.
If you plan a visit over the 4th of July you should get your reservations very early. We were checked in for three weeks(we are members) but were asked to move on the 3rd because of overbooking. They put us in a grassy overflow spot with no amenities at all. The weather turned out pretty rainy so a lot of campers cancelled. It still required us to pack up, spend a night in overflow before we could move back into a regular spot. We could see empty spaces around all night but were not allowed to move to one of them. When we bought the membership 16 years ago we were lead to believe that it was a members only park and if you didnt buy a membership you would not be allowed to camp. I guess that has changed now, but I still believe a member should at least have preference over a non-member. We paid for the membership and have paid our dues faithfully every year. The park is a very nice place with great amenities, the management just need to re-think how they take reservations.
Great place! Enjoying our visit!
To high priced. Otherwise good
This visit was good no issues being a member it is easy. As member my issue is when we joined they said they were looking to add resorts I the Rocky mountain areas but have only opened new resorts in the extreme north Minnesota if I had to do over I would have not joined do to being only able to use the South Dakota location plus maintenance keeps going up by larger amounts every year they add a new location.
We were pleasantly surprised. This resort was clean. We stayed 10 days in pull through site. Concrete pad with grass. Only draw back was the pool was torn apart for repair. Lots of cabins, camp sites, outdoor activities. Loved it. The only good resort that honored our Coast to Coast membership. Very happy with this stay.
This place never disappoints me. Always very clean. Staff is very friendly. Will definitely return!
Very nice place! Great location close to Mt Rushmore.
All the conviences of home. We didnt pull a vehicle on the RV but able to get a rental car delivered right to our camp site. And you just leave it for them to pick it up when done.10per cent discounts for Good Sam. These places are a little pricey! Staff very nice!
Staff are very helpful and nice. They do have a mini golf area, a swimming pool, and a hot tub. This RV park it within a short traveling distance to most of the Black Hills tourist sites.
Very nice looking resort
This resort is located in the perfect area! All the momuments, parks, Sturgis, and Deadwood are all within an hour or less! Very clean, ample rv parking, a petting zoo next door, and a small gift/supply store. We made a reservation on the fly and they had a great pull through site in the new area of the park. Showers are clean, pool and spa are wonderful. Because we were there at the end of the season, they had to winterize pool and jacuzzi. But we were able to use it for 4 out if 6 days so keep that in mind.Very friendly and professional. Very secure. We saw a lot of wild life in the park including white tail deer, wild turkey, different types of birds, chipmunks. Pet friendly environment with enclosed run area and poop bags through out the park available to pick up after your pet. Security gate is coded for after hours entry. Located and visible off the hiway but very quiet. Full hook ups for 30/50amp. Bring your road toys (biker friendly), water sport toys or winter sport toys. There is so much to see and experience so stay as long as you possibly can. We stayed a week and it was barely enough! We will be back in Spring 2017 and will definately stay here again!
We stayed for four nights in August 2019. Location was wonderful to see the local sites about Rushmore and Crazyhorse. We came in at the end of the Sturgis motorcycle rally so it was quite crowded. The grounds were clean and maintained and the laundry was well-equipped. The only real problem I had was the mosquitoes that were hovering in the grass they loved biting me. I am not sure of their prices as we offered a great discount if we attended a 90minute presentation.
Great coast to coast park! Would highly recommend it. Friendly, clean and would definitely come back.
I love camping at Rushmore Shadows. The campground is well kept. The employees are very friendly and helpful.
This is our third visit since we joined Midwest Outdoor Resorts three years ago. Each visit has been better than the previous ones. This time the weather cooperated to give us ample sightseeing in lushly green surroundings. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the park facilities are clean and well-maintained. All in all a happy visit!
Great Park. Friendly staff, clean, good for kids off all ages. Great spaces for RVs, didnt feel packed in. Was part of their promotion and sat in on the 90 minute presentation. No pushiness at all, nice folks. Wish we had a little more time to spend there. Close distance to Mt. Rushmore Monument and the Town of Keystone where there are nice shoes and activities for kids to do.
Very fun. Family friendly
Very clean. The staff is great very layed back. I was sad we had to leave.
Stayed there for six days. $60 was Coast to Coast cost. We stayed in the older back section. Spot was large enough for 5th wheel and truck without disconnecting. No bugs, pet friendly, pool, miniature golf, dog park. Will be back.
Always enjoy spending time at this great park. Wonderful staff.
Very nice resort.
Park seems well maintained and clean for the price it should be. My experience was less then pleasant. I made reservations 10 months ago requested a certain site and put down a 250 dollar deposit. On arrival was told my requested site was full. The reservation showed my request, however I was told first come first serve? I was next shown a map of the park and given a choice of...2... sites both in the “new” area next to the freeway! So for 500 dollars I was given a site I didn’t want or lose 250 dollar deposit. Pretty neat! Next I went to the site and found it so slanted the jacks on my coach could not level the unit even with the front wheels almost off the ground! Just for a side bar my coach is a new high end 40 ft rig. So for 500 dollars I got a site next to the freeway, so slanted I can’t even empty my holding tanks completely. The time reserving was wasted the 250 dollar deposit was spent to get what was left when we pulled in. Even a nice place doesn’t help when you’ve been railroaded!
Very nice campground. Facilities are well maintained and staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. Our campsite was level and very long, easy access and good wifi.
Great resort, great people. They will go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay.
Invited us for a marketing scheme with 1 out of 4 chance to win a side by side ATV, or so we were told. Only prize that actually existed was a cheap tablet with next to no memory. Seemed like a rope-a-dope invitation and asked us for almost $10k
Very relaxing
Cant really comment. They are the cheapest in town by far, but they are closed until May 1st. Would be nice to put that on the billboards instead of implying it is year round
I bought the membership at the presentation, but I found that I just didnt feel that the decision was the right one for me right now. This had nothing to do with the resort, which looks like a beautiful place, and was quite what I was looking for. I canceled my membership within the 7-day cancellation period, and the staff was still friendly and made no hassle about it. At this time I have no reason to think that my refund wont be delivered. (I had to repost this, it originally posted from the wrong account)Update: The owner replied generically telling me to return my membership materials in order to get my refund - which I had already done. I bought on October 19, returned on October 25 (including materials) and so its been about 1 week waiting for the refund so far, which can supposedly take up to 30 days.
Very clean and nice place to stay. The employees are great and helpful people. We stayed a week and enjoyed it very much. I give it five stars because they deserve it !
Clean friendly campground with excellent bathroom and shower facilities
Lovely campground with lots of amenities-pool, spa, 2 playgrounds, dog park, and fire pits to name a few. Restrooms checked several times a day and they are spotlessly clean. Cabins on site as well. On the way to Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, and Custer State Park in the Black Hills. Minutes from Rapid City. Other attractions close by.
Awesome place, my favourite campground by far. Super staff, great area all around.
We loved our stay here. Great campgrounds and were very accommodating.
Best stay here yet,Lodge was clean, ready & waiting for us upon arrival.Staff was pleasant & helpful
Very nice place, centrally located to all the sites.
Very clean and quiet even though it was very busy when we were there. Close to many things to see and do.
Friendly staff, and very well kept grounds. Cabins are in excellent condition very state of the art. You will not feel like roughing it while aromatic inside of one.
Nice, clean, good location friendly people
Stumbled onto this RV site from a flyer at the welcome center! Was such a nice place we bought a membership and extended our stay.
Dont become a member!!!We have been members for almost 10 years and every year the customer service becomes worse than the following year. If you are a non-member, they will bend over backward for you but if you are a member, they could care less about you.
Great campground. Convenient to everywhere. Extremely windy and wifi is terrible.
Very nice camp grounds. Close to all the attractions.
Very accommodating, friendly, and helpful staff! Easy process, great location and beautiful facility. Our 60ft rig fit with no issues. We really enjoyed our stay
