This one of our favorite places to hike in Raleigh.. There are few different trail options. You can go on a shorter hike or string some of them together for a longer walk. There is a fishing dock, playground, and lots of parking. The park organizes different activities for kids and teens. Weve done a few of them and theyve been really fun for my son.
Durant nature preserve is a great place if you are looking for light to moderate hiking. The trails are well marked, all you need is to remember from your start what color marking ( such as red, blue, white) and follow the markings. If you are looking for an easy 2.5 mile hike may I suggest the boarder trail..., accessed from the South parking lot.
Love this park! I go here every year with first graders. The lake is pretty and you can see turtles sunning themselves on logs. There are multiple trails. Personally like the Secret Creek Trail. Children love the creek and the rocks to climb on near the creek. We saw a deer on our walk.
You can get a piece of mind here love it there
Love love Durant Nature Preserve. We live south of the 540 so South Entrance is closer. We love doing the 1 mile hike around the lake and ending up at the playground (when it’s not coronavirus/closed). Wonderful outlet for my toddler and I enjoy it as well.
Very nice trail with uphill and downhill and will marked trails. Can go on different paths. Restrooms and water
Its a great place to take the family pets and walk around nature. Theres waterfalls lakes, public restrooms a picnic area a dock for fishing and much more.
Love walking the trails with my family. Well kept and if your lucky you might see some deer.
Great place to hike. The big loop around both lakes will take you about an hour.
Huge park, lots of trails, butterflies everywhere and happy turtles poking their heads out of the water. Fun place for your toddler to explore
We used to always rent the Lodge, the smaller building, not the building up on the hill. Then the staff decided that only the staff members could use the lodge. Thats unfair, because we pay taxes for it, and only they can use it. They said it was because there wasnt a need for it from the public. Thats not true. Right before they stopped allowing the public to use it it for weekend retreats, I kept putting requests in, and they wouldnt respond back to me. I hate to have to pay taxes for this park, when only the staff members can get the benefits. It seems criminal.
Beautiful and not crowded.
Go here almost daily...love it. Needs more TLC Raleigh Parks and Rec
