My group had so much fun doing this! Our guide Grayson was very helpful and informative. They were also taking many precautions to keep visitors safe and keep all the rooms clean. We did The Heist and finished with about a minute left to go (we did have to use a few hints). We had a large group of 7 people and it was too many in my opinion. I wouldnt do more than 4 or 5 people in the future. Overall a great experience. Kid friendly and a great team building exercise. Its also great for building critical thinking skills!
Always wanted to do an escape room. Came here to do the Heist. Room was very hard and we failed miserably. Personally I think there was way too much to accomplish in 60 minutes but who knows. Place was clean and girl who worked there was nice. Tip though you get unlimited amount of clues.
Had a great time here! Andrew is really friendly and is a great host. The place is located downtown (good location and parking) and is literally in a house. The rooms were well designed and both our groups were able to complete the puzzles! It is great for team building. However, the gadgets/contraptions used were not the most advanced that I have seen! Would still definitely go again.
My friends and I had such an incredible experience at Raleigh 5280 over the weekend. Everything was well sanitized and they used all precautions/guidelines to make us feel safe. Booking the room through the website was a breeze and we were given a quick and thorough explanation of what to expect before the fun started. This was everyones first time there and we definitely plan to be back soon! Thanks again!
Some friends and I did the dark room and it was so creatively designed! I would come back here to try all of the rooms soon. The house is also really historic, which adds to the authenticity of the rooms and props.
I took a group of 5 to do the Heist room a couple of weeks ago and we had a blast! The staff was really awesome to work with, and they were really encouraging. We had a group of pretty experienced players, but we still found the room challenging and exciting! We almost went back that same day to do another room. The only extremely small complaint that we had was that our game instructor was a little informal with the rules and set up. Maybe she thought we didnt need any rules or set up...idk. As an experienced group, we really like the story behind the rooms. So, an embellishment of the rules and set up would have been nice. Definitely not that big a deal. And certainly not worth dropping to a 4* rating. Will definitely be going to ROOM 5280 again! Thanks you all!
Went here for a work/team building outing and we all had a blast! Andrew, our host, did a great job running both the Sherlock and Dark rooms we did. The atmosphere of the stories behind the rooms were engaging and the my group was able to finish with minimal clues. Clues were given to us only twice, and they were only ever confirmation of things we had already figured out but by chance hadnt worked. Would definitely recommend trying this place out with any medium-to-large group
Ive been here 3 times and have loved it each time. The staff are pleasant, the rooms are hard,, but not too hard, they clean the rooms after each session, and provide hints if you like. My only complaint is that they dont have more rooms. I will bd going back for their last room.
It was so much fun, definitely recommend the dark room!! Nicole, our game keeper was so sweet and helpful :)
Very well done. Managed to complete the challenge... Barely
I had a spooktacular time this Halloween in the dark room. I am definitely coming back soon!
Great escape experience. The room had a fun layout! Me and my friends felt super smart the whole time. Their employee Nicole was a great moderator and kept our experience flowing smoothly with the occasional hint when we needed it. Great place, great staff, great clean bathroom. I highly recommend it if youre looking for an escape room experience! Also Nicole follow me on Instagram @wiisports.resort
The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. They are very helpful when it comes to hints. They explain at the end anything that you did not understand. I will be back again!
We played The Dark Room and had a blast! Room and puzzles were so fun and Valentina was great! We will be back to try some more rooms!
It was a lot of fun! The establishment was clean and Grayson was awesome at explaining the story and very friendly. We did one room and Ill be going back very soon to do another.
We had a blast last night and we hope to be back very soon! Our guide/owner is super friendly and very helpful.
What a great experience! Our group of six did the Heist room and had a wonderful time. The puzzles were challenging, but not impossible, so we never felt like we were at an impasse. It took the ideas and contributions of all of us to solve the puzzles. Everything was very inventive and well thought out. It was such a sense of accomplishment to finish each puzzle and escape from the room! This would be a great team-building experience. I’m looking forward to going back and trying another room. Highly, highly recommended!
So. Much. Fun. We did The Heist and managed to solve it just in time. There are three more rooms here, so well be back! The puzzles are clever and rewarding, and teamwork is a must. Great place to bring your friends, family, or work colleagues for some team building. The location in downtown Raleigh is perfect, so close to many restaurants and bars. Make an evening of it!
We stopped here on our way out of town because we love escape rooms and wanted to try one in Raleigh. We preferred to try another business but this one fit into our schedule. There is free 2 hour parking behind the building. It is in a older looking house in Raleigh. We (2 of us) did The Experiment room and did not get out. It had a 30% success rate. The lowest we have tried before. The game master was very friendly and helpful. We have been to several escape rooms in the past 2 years and this place was one of our least favorite rooms ever. We though the room was kind of bare bones. Some of the items we had to use did not measure accurately which already makes the room less fun. There was nothing special or cool about this room. No sound effects, etc. When we got a clue it was written on a piece of paper and slipped under the door after a knock occurred. We arent sure if we picked the wrong room to do at this place or if it just wasnt our preference of an escape room because there were no special effects and it was not immersive. We wont be going back here but we will try another escape room in Raleigh, if we have time when we are in Raleigh again.
Challenging, fun, and had a creepy vibe!!! My friends and I had a great time trying to escape from the Dark Room. The puzzles were a bit tricky but with the help of my friends and teamwork, we made it out successfully with a good amount of time left! The extent of details and complex puzzles the owner put together really impressed all of us. The owners were very attentive to our questions about the escape room and gave us clues when needed. This is a great activity for team building and hands-on experience. Would definitely come back again to try out the other rooms!
We did the Sherlock themed room. It was fun and had some cool features, but it wasnt overly high-tech or unique. The hostess also came over the intercom and gave us a couple clues that we did not ask for, which was a bummer. However we only had 3 minutes to spare when we escaped, so maybe it was better that she did that.
This was by far my favorite escape room adventure. Nicely set up ...there was one staff member on site and he was super cool and helpful...he also gets 5 stars
This was our first for escape rooms & we really enjoyed. However the room became uncomfortably warm & the smaller room was hot. I was sweating slightly & my friends mom had sweat all over her face. Thankfully she pulled out a large folding hand fan to cool herself down.
Challenging and fun! We had a great time trying to escape the Heist. Although we didn’t solve the puzzles in 60 minutes, Andrew let us finish our escape. We managed to get it figured out with the extra few minutes given to us which was much appreciated. Don’t be afraid to ask for hints! I will be back! Highly recommend
I loved this place! My dad and I did The Dark Room and actually made it out of the room. The staff is very friendly and will gently nudge you in the right direction if they see that youre stuck. There was an I testing story behind the room and the clues made you think. Such a fun time here.
The house was renovated just for the escape room! They offer few different rooms and I did the dark room one with my friend. To be honest, as the room was kinda small, I wasnt excepting that much. Pleasant surprise, it turned out to be the best escape room that Ive ever been to. Whoever made this escape room gotta be pure genius!
The place was easy to find.. staff was amazing, and made us feel very comfortable with the task. We did the heist...we made it just barely I will definitely do again.. it was fun for everyone. We had to give the gold bars back though . Lots of good paintings every where... I enjoyed the 10 min we waited to start.
So good! wish i was worse at the escape room so i could have stayed here even longer :)))
Had a great experience. There were no major leaps of logic and the guide was able to give just the right amount of direction to help when stuck. The room was very well designed and everything in the room was a part of the puzzle. Will be back to try to other rooms!
Second room I have done, and both have been awesome!! I love the employee that worked with us!! Great fun for the whole family!!
Room 5280 did not disappoint! I love puzzles, and I was really excited to drag my friend to a Sherlock themed escape room. The Sherlock room was challenging but not impossible. (We probably should have had more than just the two of us.) And the game-masters even let us puzzle out the last clue after time.I can’t wait to go back for another!
Our team visited for a team building event and we had an awesome time! We split into two groups and competed against each other to see who could escape first. We agreed that each team was allowed three clues. Our host, Andrew, was great. I highly recommend visiting and I hope to go again and try a different room.
GREAT TEAM EVENT!!! We had 16 with us and were accommodated in every way we could have been. From allowing us to park at the site and go eat lunch before the event, to letting us start earlier than expected originally, they rolled with the changes with a smile and a no problem attitude the whole time. THANK YOU so much for a great time! This was a wonderful team building event.
Went to Room 5280 with my family and had a great time! The clues were tricky but eventually we made it out successfully. Really engaging for all ages and an experience unlike any other. The owners did a great job with the place. You can tell they put a lot of thought and effort in the details.
My office took 15 of our employees to do three escape rooms here and all three groups raved about how much fun they had. We did the dark room, the experiment, and Sherlock. A group of five of us also previously did the heist and everyone enjoyed that as well! The owner/manager of Room 5280 is so nice and happy to help! We will likely go back not only as an office, but individually as well! I was asked by many of the people who participated for the details of how I booked the rooms for us.
Absolutely a whole jungle gym of creativity for the mind, body, and soul!!! I came here with the kids and I can’t recommend it more!
Great experience!! This place is really cool and has great rooms (we did The Experiment). The room looked minimalistic when we walked in, but there was no shortage of clues and things to stump us (we were pleasantly surprised)!! Great staff as well!! I definitely recommend!!!
We had a blast doing The Dark Room!! I think this was the best customer service we have ever had!! Thank you for such a great time!! Well worth the visit!!
Had a great time here with my colleagues from work. For many of them, it was their first escape room and they all expressed how it was much more fun than they had imagined. The story was and puzzles were very creative and being able to solve them was super rewarding. Highly recommend.
I visited few escape rooms and this place has to be the best escape joint that Ive ever been to. The owner and staff are extremely friendly, engaging, and passionate. My friend and I did a Dark Room, which was beyond amazing! Make sure you think outside the box! Highly recommend.
It was a super fun experience I absolutely loved it!! Probably the best escape room I’ve been to. Also the workers are extremely nice and friendly:)
This made for a great team-building activity with work colleagues. We were able to get out with 5 minutes to spare! One of the participants had been to several other escape rooms but the rest of us had never been. It was a ton of fun!
This was my second time back and this time I organized it as a team building activity for our 8-people group. We chose the Sherlock room and had such a great time doing it - the puzzles were really good and clever. Great experience and the staff was super helpful. Thanks and we will be back again!
First time and fabulous. It was my daughters 14th birthday celebration and I wasnt sure what to expect. I loved that it is in a house, gives a cool vibe. My daughters group was split between the 2 rooms. The Dark Room and The Experiment. The girls had a blast. Our guide was great with explanation and moving the experience along. It was a memorable afternoon. We ended up having lunch at Tobacco Road Sports Bar just around the corner. Just a great day overall. I will plan to come back with friends!
Highly recommend The Heist. Very clever and lots of fun. We had a group of 7 people and were able to solve almost every clue; we had to ask for 1 hint :( Plus, the location is great for this escape room is great since it is on Glenwood. We did a bachelor party here and then went to dinner afterwords. Really great experience.
My group did the Sherlock escape room and had a great time! The staff is pleasant and the set up is well done. The only reason I have to take away a star is because the parking is pretty tight. Multiple group members had to constantly circle the building trying to find parking because the lots were full.
Wow. Just wow.Ive done two rooms here (Dark Room and The Experiment) on two separate occasions. Andrew helped me book the Dark Room PRIVATELY for my sisters birthday, no questions asked, even though it was only three of us. The room itself was totally different from any other rooms Ive done, and very doable, despite some difficult puzzles. After the Dark Room, we checked out Tower Escapes downtown (AWESOME there too!!) and after finishing all of their rooms, were referred back to Room 5280! We showed up late on a Sunday after emailing and were immediately accommodated. Andrew recommeded we try the Experiment (it was just two of us), and even though he was technically off-duty monitored our room the whole time, gave clues, and made for one of, if not the best, escape room experiences Ive ever had. It felt like Andrew was a part of it, even though he wasnt in the room. We laughed so hard and managed (With Andrews help) to make it out.Even though I no longer live in the area, my sister does, and I cannot wait to fly back and do Sherlock and The Heist....If youve never done an escape room, try here or at Tower with Val! You will be welcomed so warmly and shown a delightful experience at both :)
Easy to set up with a large business event. Andrew was nice and formal. Great guy! Rooms were fun and challenging. Only suggestion I have, is fix the microphone or buy a new one for each room as they are incredible hard to hear the host speak when we ask him for clues.
Had a whole heaping spaghetti pile of fun
A group of 8 of us did the Sherlock Room. The process of reserving it and paying for it online was very easy. The staff was competent, but laid back. They gave us the information we needed and then got out of the way and let us play. The room was a classic escape room--lots of interesting puzzles that led you along a path. I really appreciated that afterwards they asked us what we thought and seemed very interested in our feedback about the puzzles. I get the sense that they take that kind of feedback seriously and will use it to help tweak the rooms to make them better. Finally, the location is great. If you want to have drinks or dinner before or after, you are in walking distance of downtown Raleigh or Glenwood South.
This escape room was great. It was not my first one but it was the best one I’ve done yet. Very interactive and challenging enough that It wasn’t easy but still fun. Will definitely go back for the other rooms.
Room 5280 was so much fun! It was my first escape room experience and I cant wait to go back!
This was my 3rd escape room experience and the first at ROOM 5280. The staff was kind and friendly, parking was easy to do, and the room we were in was a nice size. It didnt feel like there were many puzzles to solve and there werent any real red herrings, which helps make a room more challenging. We escaped with about 9 minutes to spare. Still, it was a fun experience. Just wish it had been a bit more challenging!
I did the dark room and it was great. Challenging riddles, puzzles and stuff inside of the rooms. The customer service was great.
Wonderful experience! This was the first time that my family visited an Escape Room and it definitely did not disappoint us. We had a phenomenal time in The Heist. It was challenging, yet full of fun and laughs. The staff was very friendly & helpful.
Never did this before...definitely going back! Was worried there would be zombies or something jumping out at us...but these escape rooms (there are 4) are not designed for those cheap thrills. Instead, think mystery, intrigue and discovery! It was a blast!!
Was really alot of fun and would Def go back again!
We have been 2x with different groups of people and had a great experience both times! Our guests had never been to an escape room and enjoyed the experience as well. The rooms are simple, yet challenging. The staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend you check them out.
This was my 1st escape room and it was so much fun!! We made it out with 12 minutes to spare! Well definitely be back for more!!!
Honestly, I was really excited to try out this escape room. After reading reviews, we decided to try out “The Heist”. I’ve done nearly ten escape rooms in the Triangle Area... this one is my least favorite. I really get into these rooms. I really get into being the character, I think it makes everything so much more enjoyable. However, this room made it quite difficult to do that. Every room I’ve been to really makes it feel like you HAVE to be the character. I once did an Asylum one, and I actually felt like I was in an Asylum- going insane over the puzzles. They had voices playing in the background and all, you had no choice but to feel fully immersed in the room. With “The Heist”, the objective was to rob a house. When we were escorted into the room, my first thought was “this is it?”. It was two end tables, a bookshelf, a desk, an armoire, and a safe on the floor. I was disappointed in the feel of the room. I found it hard to feel like we were actually robbing a house, especially that of a millionaire’s. The puzzles were fun, however there were some points where we were seriously at a stand-still. That was just us, though. I will say, this room relies HEAVILY on attention to detail. When they told us we would use everything in that room, you will use EVERYTHING. I think the idea of the game was great. I just like visiting escape rooms and really feeling like the room was made for ONLY that reason.Feedback to owner- I liked the puzzles. I just wish there was more commitment invested in making the room more like the theme. Go to Habitat For Humanity, get a cheap couple of chairs or a couch, a lamp, a chair for the desk. Get more into the room. I think people would love the rooms even more for that. I’ve been to a lot, the thing that separates them from you is the investment in the room.Other than that, it was a good room. The man in there when we walked in was very welcoming and funny. I hope you take this as feedback and not negative, because that’s that my intention! Feedback means growth, and I hope you can take it!
Amazing puzzles and the staff is INCREDIBLE. I’d give this place a 10 just for Valentina if I could. Will definitely be looking to go again soon.
Andrew had EXCELLENT customer service. My cousins and I did the ‘Dark Room’ and it was so creatively set! This was our first time being in a escape room and we loved our experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone who is looking for a fun time to bond with family and friends!
Such a fun experience! I think any room you decide will end up being a blast, highly recommend this place!
I did The Dark Room along with my usual team. We are huge escape room fans and have done most of the rooms in the greater Raleigh-Durham area. I would be doing a disservice to Room 5280 if I didnt separate this review into two parts. The room itself was nice. Dark, spooky, and made you think. As others reviewers have said, the decor could be better, but its not lacking and definitely not enough to make for a bad experience. The puzzles were moderately difficult but all entirely doable. We did request one hint to make sure we were on the right track with one of our combinations as the lock box times out for incorrect inputs. We completed the room with approximately 9 minutes left, which is near normal for my team. The room would get 4/5 stars, and would get my recommendation, if not for...The staff. Wow. I hope our experience was a fluke because I dont want to think our experience was typical. For the first time ever, the service was seriously substandard. For starters, the door is legitimately locked. There was no button or key for exit in the case of emergency. Instead, you wave to the camera and ask to be let out by the staff if needed. We didnt really think anything about it as weve actually never needed to use the feature. What made this policy stand out is that had we needed to get out, I am certain we would not have been able to, at least not in a timely manner. The hint we requested was at 23 minutes remaining. We got that hint 9 minutes later. I can only assume that the game host was trying to determine what part of the room we needed help with for those 9 minutes, because otherwise there was no one watching our game. After waving at multiple cameras, strobing lights in front of the camera, requesting the hint verbally multiple times, and knocking on the walls, we finally got our hint. After successfully escaping, we usually are met by the game host to discuss what went well and what we enjoyed. Instead we waited for a few minutes for the staff to come meet us in the hallway. We contemplated just leaving but were eventually met by the game host.Unfortunately, Room 5280 is not in the same league as its competition. With such a great location and so much potential, this was really a letdown.
Very clean, non cluttered escape room (we did the Heist) fun story, still very new looking. Good and difficult, but sometimes the things you want to happen actually happen. There are unlimited clues (goal #1 is fun) but you dont have to use them. We did make it out with 6 minutes left with 5 fairly experienced puzzlers, however it was the first time in an actual escape room for 2, and we didnt even get everything in the end, we took an educated guess from an unfinished puzzle. Very fun, good deal, and we had the room to ourselves.
My friend and I along did “Dark Room” at Room 5280. After doing many escape rooms throughout the years, Room 5280 did not disappoint. Andrew who was our game master was friendly and did an excellent job briefing us about the room. You could tell each puzzle was made specifically for that room and the locks, hints, and props added a cool atmosphere to the whole game.
Absolutely the best experience with Andrew as our game master!! We have been to several escape rooms and the experiment and the dark room were both well thought out and challenging! Will return and definitely recommend.
Fantastic rooms, friendly staff, affordable - I have done many escape rooms and this was among the absolute best! We did three of their four rooms and loved all three. A good blend of difficulty levels. Definitely highly recommend!
This was my first experience with an escape room and I had a great time. The puzzles were slightly easier than I anticipated (it still took us 53 minutes to escape) but that was my own fault because I had unknowingly chosen the room geared more towards the 13-14 year old age group. It was still a great time though. Just be aware if you choose the Dark Room Escape it is the easiest of the four. It would be a great room for groups with teenage children!
WOW!! Super fun experience for 12 year olds!!!! I could tell this would be fun for adults too. Better than I expected. Party guests had a great time and everyone talked about going back again.
Had a really fun night with my friends, went late so there was no people just my friends and I. Had a lot of fun in the dark room and the guide was super nice. The room wasnt too tricky, but was the beginner. Will come back!
Most excellent time. I would definitely recommend for small groups
Did the heist room with a group of friends and had a great time! Andrew was encouraging and had a great sense of humor. He was responsive when we needed a hint and overall very kind! The room itself was very fun and the puzzles were creative. I would definitely return and recommend to a friend!
Fun time!! Everyone should try this if they can. Great staff.
Its great time. Host was awesome and did not rush us out. Did the heist and it was pretty challenging.
The game masters were great! Its a relief to have unlimited clues which makes the experience more enjoyable. The rooms are challenging and they do not get boring. Some rooms are linear but others are not. I would definitely go back
Really professional crew and great puzzles for everyone to solve. Really thought out themes, everyone had a great time!
We loved Room 5280! As a growing group with our new office in Downtown Raleigh a few blocks from Room 5280, we thought it would be a great idea to take time during our office move to bond, learn, and team build. We chose “The Experiment” to speak to our engineering minds. The puzzles where challenging in a good way and forced us to communicate, think quick on our feet, be resourceful, and work together. We ended up getting out with 9 minutes to spare. We will definitely be back with our whole team to continue to grow in a fun way!
My fiancé and I went here for a special occasion. And It was our first escape room experience. we did the dark room which was a very unique and interesting room. The clues and puzzles are not hard but not super easy. We enjoyed our selves very much and we will be returning. The host was pleasant and If a hint was needed he gave a good hint with out giving it away.Cheers!
Super fun! Great with a group of friends with rooms available for smaller parties. Was able to park right next to the escape room. Different levels of difficulty... with great staff!
It was a lot of fun. The clues were not too hard to find and the staff was excellent!
We loved this escape room! Our host, Andrew, was wonderful at prepping us for our adventure. Ive done a few escape rooms before and the clues we had to solve were unique and took teamwork to get through and we really loved that. I would highly recommend this to everyone!!!!
First time ever doing an escape room. I didnt know what to expect but this was really fun and different Im adding this to my hobby list and I cant wait to come back.
It was a fun experience and I’d do it again. We did the Heist and it was really hard!! But the woman gave us several clues and extra time, so we eventually got solved it. She was very patient and nice.
Ive been to many escape rooms over the past two years. This is the first that provides a perfect balance of progression as you solve the puzzles in the room. We did the Sherlock Holmes room that has a 25% success rate and were able to get out right on time. I will definitely revisit this location again for another room in the future.
So much fun.
So it was my sons 17th Birthday and I wanted to find something fun to do. We were all first timers. We totally enjoyed ourselves and as a family we had to listen to each other to get the solutions we needed to solve the mystery. Our Family = 44/40/17/13. With 36 seconds left we made it out!!
Great staff, and clean rooms. The staff are well aware of when you actually need some help. The Sherlock room was dificult but nothing felt unfair. Very satisfying to complete a room and I will be returning!
Allowed us to park at the site while having lunch down the street and let us start earlier than planed. Some of the clues were rather difficult. Hints from staff were a little hard to hear in the Heist room but they were timely and helpful.
This was such a great experience! We did the Sherlock room, and did escape! We have done several escape rooms all over the country and consider ourselves experienced, and this was one of the best rooms we have come across. When we first entered, we were greeted by Valentina, who was an excellent room guide and co-owner of the establishment. The overall atmosphere was very appropriate, and the room was well-put-together. The puzzles were well-placed and unique, and not too difficult (maybe a bit challenging if this is your first room, but not impossible). Upon our escape, we were congratulated by Valentina and Andrew (the other owner), and they were great! We are definitely going to do another escape room with them, and highly encourage others to try them out!
I took my 7 and 16 year old and we all had a ball! The staff was extremely helpful and offered great advice on which rooms were more suitable for my younger child. The outside just looks like a modest little house but it has a charm of its own. The room was challenging but not impossible. It was our first time and will definitely go back!
Andrew was awesome! He was very helpful and super friendly. We will definitely be back to try the other rooms!
We have done 10+ escape rooms. The setup of it being in an older house was pretty cool to me. My wife and I did The Experiment room. Valentina did a great job keeping up with the two rooms she had going. The notes/clues slid under the door made it feel much more secretive than the usual Clue on the TV format we normally see.Keep up the great work and we will be back soon :-)
Went here for our company Christmas party and it was absolutely perfect. We did the Dark Room and it was so much fun. It wasn’t hard but definitely made you think and work together as a team. We will definitely be back to do the other rooms.
