Lovely little church in the middle of downtown Raleigh. They have Mass during the week at 12:10pm, which is really nice even though traffic can get loud outside. Theres parking lots on the same block and behind the church along the street for during the work day.
The inside is beautiful and small and cozy. Mass is so reverent and awe-inspiring. This is one of my favorite churches
A beautiful Church and a homily that will help me get to heaven. I will definitely return
Beautiful church amazing reminder that Gods forever present. I love to come here to admire the tranquility and beauty of this beautiful sanctuary.God bless
We attended mass at Sacred Heart on a recent trip to Raleigh. The people of the parish were very welcoming and friendly. The Father was interactive and gave a great homily. The church is small in size to be a Cathedral but it has a lot of charm and history. I know the parishioners were excited about the new Cathedral opening soon.
ALWAYS EMPTY CONVERT IT INTO A MOSQUE ! . MOSQUES ARE ALWAYS FULL OF PEOPLE .
Very beautiful and nice little Church. Parking lot is a little tricky, there is a parking lot at the corner, so its not really clear or marked. Theres always the street parking but youll have to pay for it. Inside the church is very beautiful stained glass, and beautiful paintings on the walls and ceilings, very charming.
Daily mass at 12:10 pm mon-fri and confession immediately following each day. Awesome!
Beautiful church. I lit a candle there on my late fathers birthday. A peaceful atmosphere to pray and contemplate life and death..
Beautiful. Tranquil. Soul soothing services.
Beautiful calm worship space amid the chaos and traffic. Love daily 12:10 Mass.
Still love the old parish scene remember the 12:10 mass
Its a sacred place.
Joined 5 years ago. Great parish.
Arrive early, its in the heart of the city, so you need to make sure youll get parking. The church itself is beautiful, and the people are very welcoming. Sometimes Ive been disappointed in the homily at other Catholic churches, but not here! I think that is because this parish is truly involved in outreach and dedicated to serving. They feed the homeless, encourage interaction, and theyre real roll up your sleeves and get dirty cause Jesus said you should, Christians. Also, the Priest is always able to explain the gospel in laymans terms so you get a little bit of Church history, a lot of guidance on true Christian theological thought, and frequently a story about a recent event in the Priests week to tie everything together. I always leave with something to really ponder, and a renewed faith. I tend to go on Saturday nights, and I really love the way theres a reverence and an easygoing nature inside the church. I cant really tell you if what Sunday Mass is like, but Saturday is spiritually sound in my book. I was a lapsed Catholic but now I actually look forward to going every weekend. PS - Dont expect good music, though, its a Catholic church afterall. Dont get greedy!
Very nice and friendly office staff....the priest is very kind and compassionate.... Beautiful Interior breathtaking stained glass️
Great place to get help with your rent. Very caring people there
This little beauty of a church is where my wife and I were married, and where my twin children were baptized. You dont know the blessings you will find here. Before the noon Mass there is the Angelus, and Midday Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours. What graces come from that, you will find out in heaven!
The priest are traditional with strong belief in the efficacy of the Mass and the reconciliation, a love for the passion of Christ, the true presence and charity. I do not normally enjoy homilies but theres are deep or friendly. If you have been away from the church a while and are reconsidering, I recommend stopping by for Mass at 12:10 weekdays and sticking around for a very non judgmental and non painful retry of reconciliation. It could change your life .
I have been a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Cathedral for nearly 36 years. The Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral is my current parish. The Sacred Heart Church holds so many wonderful memories. Its location in the heart of Raleigh is a much needed oasis. Weekday Masses are held at the Sacred Heart Church.
Came to the Spanish Mass, and was completely disappointed in the message that the priest had to share.
Beautiful during a friends wedding
Beautiful traditional Catholic small church. Very good helpful staff.
Welcomed for the Shipe Christening. Beautiful
They have daily mass here at 12:10 most weekdays. Its usually easy to park right by the church with lots of street parking downtown.
Very pretty inside the church.
Wonderful Catholic Christian presence in downtown Raleigh.
I love this church. It always feels welcoming. Thank you.
Love this place! Great history!
Love the Catedral. Beautiful !!!
Small, quaint, cozy and serene church for a very sacred environment during your worship time. Daily masses are celebrated at noon for the convenience of the downtown workers and anyone else that is able to attend. Parking can be a challenge during Christmas and Easter; during regular times, you can, easily, park on the street, the Cathedral parking lot or across the street (in the office parking lots).
The former Cathedral Church of Raleigh. Still a very Holy place with daily Masses at 12:10 on most weekdays. Small and intimate with confessions after weekly Mass. Small groups often pray the Rosary. A great place for contemplative prayer and adoration.
Im happy to have found the church.
My cousin got married here over the weekend and it was a lovely ceremony
This cathedral is small but lovely. Its always packed, but its packed full of devotion as well. The priests and Bishop Burbidge are very good speakers and I always enjoy the homilies. Make sure to come early enough to find parking!
Small but beautiful!
Very nice church, great people
Friendly help finding parking by one of those officiating at the wedding
Have been going there for fifty five years....it is beautiful and warm and very spiritual. I feel blessed to be there.
Beautiful church.
Soooooooo beautiful. Im awe struck when I go there
As a lifelong protestant at age 50 who is deeply studying early church history and studying the Catholic church with an open heart and open mind, my wife of 27 years (also raised protestant) and I attended our first ever Catholic Mass on Saturday at 5 pm. I was moved emotionally by the Homily (sermon/message)... 1) We heard the name Jesus mentioned more times by the Priest in a matter of minutes than we have on many occasions in various protestant churches. 2) The Priest encouraged a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 3) The Priest encouraged everyone to stay focused on Jesus and not a Priest or Preacher that they like because its all about Jesus (never mentioned Mary who some protestants accuse Catholics of worshipping). 4) The Priest encouraged everyone to read Matthew chapters 5 through 7 because that would be the next couple of weeks focus. In other words, much of the negative talk from some protestants was completely opposite of what we actually experienced. We are on a journey searching for the truth. So far that journey is pointing me (us) to the Catholic church: 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
God Bless
This is a gorgeous cathedral. Have only been there for weddings, but beautiful venue.
Excellent service, very friendly
Beautiful and Holy place
Love the spiritual choir
I felt truly blessed when going to services here.
Beautiful, contemplative sacred space.
Sacred Heart Cathedral is the warmest most spiritual church Ive ever attended. We commuted 40 miles every Sunday for 2 years before we finally moved to Raleigh.
Daily non Mass is essential to my life
Beautiful sacred space.
Beautiful old Catholic church.
One of the reviews said that the acoustics were miserable. Actually they are not when it comes to music. I have sung in choirs with string ensembles years ago, and the acoustics are pretty fabulous.
Nice church
Loved
Former smallest Cathedral in North America.
